5th Ave Deli is hands down my favorite place in Carmel to grab a sandwich. The staff is super friendly, and they have a ton of options for a build your own sandwich.
My usual is:
Sliced sourdough, mayo, avocado, peppered turkey, onion, peppercinis, and Havarti with dill cheese.
Their sides are also really good (their broccoli salad is my favorite), they have a full deli case of different sides and pre-made meal items.
The only downside to this place is that they have no seating. So I like to grab a sandwich and head down to the beach to eat. -

I love this little shack filled with fun goodies next to the post office by the sea. I do not love the fact that they use margarine on their twice baked potato when the sign states butter. No gourmet cook I know would use faux butter. It is simply unnatural as is the flavor. Bummer. Over the past years I've discovered fun new items made by the Ginger People (a local company) and today I found some Gluten Free Falafel chips by Flamous.

Great sandwiches and love their chili! Friendly staff, and the ingredients are always fresh and a far better deli than Brunos!

THIS PLACE KICKS BUTT! So awesome! I work right around the corner and on dreary foggy days I go and get a medium cup of their chili ($5). BEST CHILI EVER. You might think your mom makes good chili, but its not as good as this chili. Im not even a chili person. The flavor is great and the veggies are left a tad bit crunchy to add the best texture ever!
The staff is super friendly and always offers free bread or crackers with the chili. They have a self serve salad bar and sandwichs and all sorts of yummy chips and drinks.
I usually go to Brunos for a sandwich, but this place is closer so I think Ill try their sandwiches next time Im in the mood.
BEST. CHILI. EVER. -

Great deli, they have boxed lunches that are just perfect to buy and take down to the beach. They have a wonderful selection of meats and cheeses to choose from to make your perfect sandwich. Plus all the veggies a person could ask for. They also don't charge extra for sprouts which I really like.
They do a salad bar in the afternoons, with homemade soups. Good selection of wines and beverages in general.
I like it here. It always fills me up. better then subway any day. -

I wanted to find a small local cafe/restaurant to try out and came across this deli shop. Checked out the menu outside and continued on my search to see if anything could top this place. After walking around every block , I found myself back at the deli. I assumed this was a sign.
I loved how you can make your own sandwiches. It took me awhile to figure out what I wanted, and the guy behind the counter was extremely patient while I was attempting to narrow down my choices. During the 10 minutes I was in there, I think about 5 people went in and out of there. I assume they were all regulars since they knew which part of the shop to go to and was talking up a storm with everyone behind the counter.
The sandwich was delicious! Pairing it up with a side of Orangina made my meal that much better. Wished there was a place like this by my work but that is only wishful thinking. Would definitely come back here again and maybe put a small picnic basket together and enjoy it down at the beach! -

Best place in Carmel to load up the picnic basket!
The sandwiches are delicious! Fresh bread, quality meats and cheeses, and all kinds of add-ons/produce to round them out. Plus, a taco bar, fresh soup/chili, and about a billion type of chips to choose from. Plenty of drinks to choose from, too, and the prices are pretty reasonable (downright cheap when you consider where they are!).
I've never had a problem here, counter staff is always very friendly and patient, even when SOMEONE in your party is going into "choice overload" trying to decide which of the cheeses to have on her sandwich! -

Want a great lunch to take down to the beach and enjoy at your leisure? Visit this side street deli and you won't be disappointed. My husband had their chili and couldn't stop talking about how good it was. He had a tri-tip sandwich and I had their veggie. Both were outstanding. The store had a steady stream of customers coming in and out of this tiny little storefront.
