Dropped by here before a concert at United Palace one night. It wasn't terrible, but I wish I did my homework. On a Friday night it was near-empty, which I don't mind too much, but I guess it should have tipped me off. "Oh well," I thought. "At least service will be fast."
Wrong. I don't know why, but it took FOREVER for them to bring us our drinks. And when we ordered our food -- 2 tapas-- they were out of the first 2 things we wanted. So we went with our next 2 choices... besides taking forever to come out, they screwed up one of the dishes (putting beef on our nachos when we wanted them plain). Oh well. Could have been worse. At least my friend & I aren't vegetarians. And the food was pretty tasty.
Our waitress was a bit daft, but at least she was polite. Oh, and they had some real goofy lady playing keyboards & singing while we were there. I guess it was their Friday night entertainment. Do yourself a favor & check this broad out! She's a one-woman tour de force! My favorite was when she sang "When You're Good To Mama" from Chicago. Trust me-- mama WILL be good to you. What a hoot!

- Poor Service... I actually didn't believe the other posters here and on Yelp. But they proved me wrong.
I might go again, but only if I have NO plans at all afterward.
If you like: efficient, professional, courteous service... then do NOT. I repeat, do NOT come here.
I feel like they hate customers, is that even possible? how can you hate someone who is going to give you money?
They treat everyone like a red-headed stepchild.
They begrudgingly take your order and when it arrives (an hour later) it's all screwed up. But now you're hungry and in a rush so you don't care. Screw that! I'd rather go to one of the hundreds of Caridad Restaurants in the vicinity and have someone call me "amor" as they take my order.
I came here with a large group (15) on the later side (8:30) and they were very accommodating while not making too many mistakes although certain things, like getting drinks, was slower than I would have expected, even with the size of the group.
Everyone around me seemed to like their food but as a vegetarian, I was disappointed. I had two options, neither of which was particularly exciting. I'd much rather pay $7.00 for rice, bean and plantains at any of the other neighborhood restaurants.
My girlfriend mentioned this one to me once she passed by on the bus. There are a few trendy looking spots nearby and this is one more. The menu at the door seemed like a mix of Hispanic American dishes, but mostly Mexican dishes.
The decor is very warm fairly welcoming. Orange and wooden tones. The waitress was very attentive, and the food fairly good. Tasty and well put together. Id like to pass by once more to try more items on the menu. The beer list wasn't that long though, for those looking for a cold one, Corona or Heineken might be it.
i was going to give this place one or two stars but the food is too good for that...i work in this neighborhood and i usually have a hard time convincing my coworkers to come here with me, because their service is awful and waiting for the food to actually arrive at the table is another painfully long wait....not very good if you only have an hour for lunch...
Ok...im only giving this place 3 stars based on 2 things, my friends are insane and the live music was great!!! hahahaha
ok it wasnt that great, but she was a sport...1st off we got there, around 8:30pm...ending up leaving around 11:40pm...
i know!!....well it started off with tortillaz and terrible salsa...
we asked for 10 shots of patron...took them 30 min to bring it to us, we were like the only ppl there!!
the live music was soooo out of place, i felt like i was on the east side at a lil jazzy lounge...but it just didnt feel quite rite lol..
the most entertaining part of the night was US...my friend and i decided to snazzifiy the place, by grabbing the mic and singing to our own tunes. plus it was our friends b'day!!..so the actual singer let us grab her mic and jam...she provided the bkgd music...
so we get our food, another 30 min later...omg what the hell did i get 2 cutlets drenched in lemon sauce, someone pounded on that salt and a few capers for the garnish....weird!!!
it was aweful!...its pretty sad, since the place is fairly new and the ambiance is cute and cozy....they need 2 fire the chef ...or just maybe get new management!...

Other reviewers seem to have skipped the steaks, which are great at Fibe-- and a decently priced steak house is hard to find. And the rest of the food also is good, in my opinion. And the staff are extremely child-friendly; we've taken our baby daughter there multiple times and they are always helpful.
The music may not be anything special but it's an occasional nice touch.
Went here for lunch the other day and wasn't too impressed with the food. I had the beef burrito, and the meat was way too dry...it tasted like I was eating dried beef pellets. The decor/ambiance inside is nice, but the food itself doesn't live up. Plus, our waitress was forgetful and unattentive, mixing up our orders, forgetting to bring us our appetizers, and standing talking on her cell phone while we sat there waiting for our check. I would probably not go back.
A damn restaurant that looks good inside but the food was worse than the bathroom incident I had because of it! This fibe bistro shit is glamorizing cheap ass Hispanic food that you can make yourself! I have tried going here more than once giving it a chance and the food was KAKA! I ordered some soup and a rubber band was in it...new seasoning methods? or were they trying to replace some of that rubber meat to save money? "El Malecon" and "Conde Steakhouse" is not to far from there, try that instead...
I first went to Fibe because it looked more polished than most places in Washington Heights, and I like a little pampering with my meal. The food was ok, but the drinks tasted funny. I had a Coke, my husband had water, and both of us thought the predominate taste was dish soap. I mean, I'm glad the glasses had been washed, but ... Anyway, some time later, we gave it another try. Again, the food was fine, but the drinks didn't taste good. Even worse, we ordered a combination meal (entree and desert) only to find that we were charged for each item separately (aka, more expensive bill). After staying away a long time, we tried again this week. Again, the food was fine and this time there was no dish soap taint to the drinks. But, when the bill arrived, we were charged more for our entrees than what was printed on the menu. I think having tried this place 3 times and being disappointed every time I'll not be back again. It is a shame because the food's fine, the free chips are good, and the place has really made an effort to look nice.
