9 reviews for Ferrari's Crown Resort
Ferrari's Crown will always hold a special place in my heart. I've been going to the Crown since I was 3... I learned to swim here, I learned to raft here, I even gained my ping-pong and foosball skills here. Every summer, during the same week in August we would go to the Crown-- and see the same people who also booked their stays the summer before. It's that kind of place.
It's a great place to go with your family, and it's run by a family!!
I love the fact that you can reserve the hot--tub in the evenings, and it has it's own private area on the beach.
Just a quick walk from the cute Kings Beach shops and Jason's restaurant.

I like. You're on a private beach, the prices are reasonable, great location, and a little added bonus - they have continental breakfast from 8-9:30am. The rooms are simple, and fine if you're not in them much. It's relatively quiet and if you're closer to the beach you don't hear any street traffic. It gets the job done.
Nothing wrong at all with this "Resort", outside how small the rooms are. After a crappy stay in Tahoe, it was great to have a simple, clean room that is so close to Northstar and casinos for some nighttime fun.
I don't like how the front desk is closed at 9pm. I just don't. It doesn't open until 8am either and with no night drop. I had to wedge my room key into the door and call them to let them know I was checking out. Lame for 7am when you just want to hit the mountain on your way out of town.
The views from the other rooms might have been nice, ours wasn't, beach was nice, especially if we were here during the summer.
Overall at good place at a good price, but nothing special either.

All of the other reviews are dead on. The room was very simple and smaller than expected, yet it was clean. Prices were reasonable considering we booked during New Year's. Don't get your hopes up over the Continental Breakfast. It was essentially packaged pastries, bagels and bread that you toast yourself. The best thing this motel has going for it is it's location, right on the lakeside. Plus the casinos are only a couple miles away!

This motel is approximately 6 miles from the entrance of Northstar ski resort. It's an ordinary looking motel that blends in with the rest of the town. When we drove by the first time we actually missed it and had to make a U-turn to look for it. It's on the lake side of the street =)
The stairs were pretty old looking since the carpet covering the steps were torn. Cost was not too bad for the area. $119 for Thursday for a room with two queen beds, a big walk-in closet, iron & board, heater in bathroom, hair dryer, mini refrigerator, and I think there was a microwave too.
The cabinets were old because the corners chipped and they didn't repaint them, but the room was clean, especially the bathroom. Tiles in the bathroom were new. I ran my fingers cross the wall tiles, sink, and toilet seat... absolutely no built-up dust =) Clean towels and clean bedsheets, even the curtains looked new. I can't say that for all the rooms, but the one we stayed at was pretty nice =)
Ocean view for some of the rooms, hehe, but not the one we stayed at. Huge patio with BBQ grills for some rooms in the back of the hotel. I'm not sure if the grills are included with the rooms (you'll have to ask them before booking)... Behind the pool was the entrance to the lake. Beautiful view and nice sand =) It would definitely be a good idea for a walk after dinner =)

Same with Adrienne, we missed it the first time we drove by and had to make a U-turn to look for it. Cost was reasonable; we stayed one night (Sunday) in January for $74 after tax, for a room with two full or queen beds. Inside was small but clean and cozy. Looked fairly new. I've stayed at some pretty gross motels over the years in my hunt for good bargains, and was pleasantly surprised that by the cleanliness of this place.
The private (reservable) hot tub was a nice bonus.

I made a reservation online and the place looked nice from the pictures. However when I got there I got so disappointed because it actually looked like crap. But when I stayed in the room it was pretty nice for a motel. There was also an indoor spa and a pool. There was also easy access to the beach and lots of nice sand. I'm sure you can walk around in the summer time. But since I went in the winter time it was too cold to be walking haha!
Stayed here on a Sunday night during early March, largely drawn by the super-affordable rates. The Crown Resort blew away our expectations. Coming in off the slopes from a hard day of snowboarding, we decided to hit the hot tub, and were completely amazed by the lakeside location and beautiful sunset views. The other guests we encountered at the hot tub were equally appreciative of the Crown's amenities. Rooms are simple & clean. We went the cheap route with streetside rooms, but the lakeview rooms probably would have been worth the small price difference - particularly if we were staying there longer. Service was very friendly & helpful with restaurant suggestions & discount lift tix for the next day. Continental breakfast was fine - just breads & pastries, no fruit or anything with protein, so don't count on it to fuel a day on the slopes. We will definitely be back!
rooms are basic, but clean. you can't beat the view & location - right on the beach!
