Have been going here for three years now (well, out cats have). The front office is efficient and courteous. The doctors and vet techs are compassionate and caring. Oh yeah, our cats are healthy and thriving.

Can't say enough good about this place.
One of my kitties got sick last week while I was out of town. The pet sitter took her here and they were so good about communicating everything about her condition throughout the day to me and were very thorough with their care. The reception is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable as well.
I've also taken both of my kitties there for their shots and had a great experience then too.
Highly recommended! -

I took my dog here b/c we had just moved to the area and I wanted to get a few things checked out. I also wanted to be sure I had a regular vet in town that had his paperwork, knew his history etc. We saw Dr. Calvert and I was very happy and impressed with her. She spent A LOT of time with us, listening to our concerns, explaining her opinions, etc. Our dog had been thrown from a car and had some other health problems prior to us adpopting him. Dr. Calvert spent time to look over EVERYTHING (old medical paperwork on him etc) and came and asked us questions about his past.
The front desk staff was very professional and friendly. A single vet visit was about $52 - which is okay.....might be a little high but it is worth it if you have a good vet.
I would def. recomend this vet hospital! -

Prompt, accommodating, gentle, compassionate, and professional. I brought my adult cat in when he had a pretty gnarly abscess and later when he'd been attacked by a dog. They saw him promptly, handled the situation with care and professionalism and fixed him up. They treated the animals like people, not objects, talking to them sweetly and intelligently. I was impressed and can recommend them.
This isn't in their yelp profile, but there's some important info.

This review is for Dr. Calvert and the staff. I had a very sick bunny who needed emergency care quickly. There are very few vets who are knowledgeable about treating bunnies. Dr. Calvert specializes in exotic pets and had been recommended to me prior to my bunny getting sick. She took exceptional care of my very ill bunny, taking her home the first night, because she needed constant care. Dr. Calvert was wonderfully kind and yet quite upfront with me about the prognosis.
Sadly the fight was lost after a week. But, I will always remember how well Dr. Calvert and the staff treated my special bun. -

I normally take my animals for their routine vaccines and check-ups to Mountain Animal Hospital, Dr. Gary Roussopolous, because I've known him for many years (my parents took their pets to him), he is very kind and compassionate, and he doesn't have high overhead costs (he's worked out of his bus in all the time I've known him, currently parked at his son's business, Mountain Feed & Farm - may sound weird to those of you that don't know him, but he's a very trusted professional in our mountains, albeit a bit quirky). But he doesn't do surgeries anymore and tends to take a very hands-off/holistic approach to animal care, so for emergency situations or visits that require laboratory work or more in-depth analysis, I take the beasts to Felton Vet.
I've seen Dr. Atton a couple times before but wasn't terribly impressed. I'm sure he cares about the animals - maybe it was his sense of humor that I didn't really care for. He's fine - not outstanding.
Dr. Jenn Keil, however, is one of the most compassionate and realistic veterinarians you will ever meet. She grew up in the Santa Cruz Mountains - we are very lucky to have someone local who understands the needs of our mountain pets.
Our American Bulldog, Blue, is very old for his size (almost 12 and 95 lbs) and is getting a bit rickety - urinary incontinence issues have arisen lately. Jenn suggested some tests, but gave us options, and never tried to push anything on us (we ultimately decided against tests for now, and she didn't make us feel like bad parents for doing so). She gave us the meds he needed to control his bladder and confirmed what we already knew: that kidney disease is probably in Blue's future - we'll just need to deal with that when the time comes.
It's very apparent that she cares deeply about the animals and enjoys her job. She treated our cat a few years ago when he got hung up on a nail somewhere outside and tore his leg open - he needed stitches and was kept overnight - she came in on her day off the next morning before the office opened so I could pick him up and still make it to work in time. Just that dedication alone is what will make me keep coming back to her - I hope she stays here in Felton for a long time to come. -

It is incredibly hard to find a good exotics vet. Even harder to find one that deals with reptiles and harder still to find one that can treat a 2 inch turtle.
But Felton Veterinary Hospital is the place to find one!
I had a tiny sick red eared slider and brought him up to see Dr. Calvert. She took her time discussing both proper basic care as well as the process for dealing with his current health issues. She even took him home with her after his surgery to make sure he was doing ok-how many vets do that???
Both she and her nurse Heidi we exceedingly patient and supportive while teaching me to give antibiotic injections. They were so incredibly kind, it was unbelieveable!
The office staff is also really great! Super friendly, efficient and they remembered me when i came back for his first recheck!
I can not recommend Dr. Calvert and Felton Vet Hospital any higher. -

I have been bringing my pup Remmy to Felton Vet since he first came home with me. I have consistently been impressed with the care and attentiveness of the staff; they are always encouraging and know us when we walk through the front door, greeting us with a smile. When my pup ran into a pillar and wound up with spinal trauma, they referred me right away to a 24 hour facility (as I have come in about 5 min before they closed) and followed up with me later. Dr. Keil, the techs, and the front desk staff (especially PJ) are the BEST. I'd highly recommend FVH to anyone with pets.

Dr Atton and his staff are exceptional! I have been an animal owner/lover for many years. I have NEVER met a more compassionate group of Veterinarians as Dr. Atton and his staff. The office staff is also wonderful...very friendly and welcoming.
My dog has suffered from skin allergies since she was a puppy. Dr. Atton has worked with my dog for hours and hours. He is very compassionate toward the animal and the dog (animal) owner. He has a gift with animals and people. I trust his knowledge entirely. I would recommend Dr. Atton and his staff without hesitation.

The vet for my two animals is someone else (whom I adore, but I'll spare you the details on that). Nonetheless, I felt I had to write a review for Dr. Keil and Felton Vet. They're amazing. I also love them.
I foster dogs for a local rescue organization. The first time I went to Felton Vet was with adorable foster dog Winston, a spunky 8 yo who needed serious dental work due to advanced gum disease. Dr. Keil, the vet techs, and the folks at the front desk were amazing. Winston got great care and aftercare, and Felton Vet helped me out enormously with my concerned calls when I couldn't deliver his pains meds to him the next morning. Just amazing support.
The second of two experiences is admittedly second hand. An at-the-time prospective 'new mom' of my most recent foster dog, Molly, brought Molly in (pre adoption) for a check-up, coincidentally to Dr. Keil. This was three days ago. Meredith said, unsolicited, how amazing everyone was at Felton Vet. This was heartwarming to hear and I of course launched into how great they were with Winston. (Meredith is now officially Molly's new mom!)
I'm so grateful for Felton Vet's staff: my experience is that they do excellent work supporting rescue dogs in the Santa Cruz community. Thank you, Felton Vet and Dr. Keil et al, from the 'foster mom' of two of your lucky benefactors. :)

They have the best service, with caring, competent staff and veterinarians. We have taken our Aussie dogs to them since they were puppies. They have gotten great care. Dr. Atton is a wonderful person and vet and Dr. Keil just has a wonderful , thorough and caring touch with animals. We lost Jack this year. We were on a medical emergency back east. A friend and the dog sitter got him down to Felton Vets. They kept him for the three days it took us to get back home. They had stabalized him, and gave us the prognosis.
The peace of mind, and through job that they did was invaluable during a very difficult time. Dr. Atton delivered the news in an honest, professional and compassionate manner. Huge lifesaving measures weren't going to work. We were able to spend a wonderful two days with him and then he was gone. The staff was compassionate and sent us a beautiful card with wonderful messages. A great place. I am indebted to them. -

I recently moved to the area from Seattle and needed to find a vet.. I sort of randomly went with VCA Animal Hospital when my pug needed some pretty immediate care. They're not bad but they didn't stand out. I stopped by Felton Vet when I needed a single dose of Frontline because I heard their price was the best in town.. ($16! woo!) Anyway, I still haven't actually taken my dog there but the two times I've been in to buy him flea medication, the service has just been so incredible that I had to write something about it! They're usually pretty busy up at the front but it doesn't stop them from being very warm, welcoming and GENUINE. I had some questions today when I went in and the lady up front was extremely helpful. From these experiences and the reviews I've read here, I'm definitely switching to this hospital.

From the reviews I've read I think they are probably good vets - but I had an unpleasant experience as a walkin. I had a cat who was over 20 years old, and was diagnosed with many intersecting problems like cancer, cardiac issues etc several months prior. Because of the many issues I decided to let nature take its course and just keep her comfortable. I came home on a Friday night to find in bad shape. I spent the night with her, knowing it was our last. My regular vet was closed on the weekend - so I took her to Felton to have her put down early Sat morning. It was a heart breaking decision.
To my surprise, Felton vet refused to put her down for me. As I was standing there in tears they told me they first had to examine her and that they didn't have time. Honestly (I worked as a vet tech), it would have taken them about 5 minutes.
Instead, I had to drive her to United Emergency in Campbell, with the poor half dead cat swinging in the car through the wretched turns on Bear Creek Rd. At United they took one look at her and had no issue putting her down right away. Now questioning my judgment, I had them quickly take a TPR and blood pressure and they confirmed that she was dying, almost no pulse, very low blood pressure. They were shocked that Felton vet had not put her down.
Shame on Felton vet for not helping my cat in her final moment!! -

Amazing vets who truly care about the health and well-being of my pets. I have be taking my pets to Dr. Atton since the late 1980's, his knowledge and compassion are top notch. I have had to deal with various serious medical problems with my animals and they have always treated my pets with the utmost care. The staff, vet techs and doctors are all amazing, I truly can't praise them enough. Prices are very fair, I have heard complaints that they are expensive but you get what you pay for...do you really want to take your pet to a vet in an rv?!?! Most of those vets are not up to date with the most current treatment protocals, your pets deserve better!

I started going to Felton Vet hospital when we moved here from the other side of the hill. It seemed like every time I had an appointment, for which I always arrived on time, the wait was more than 20 minutes. I understand that emergencies and other things happen. What I don't understand, is why the staff would stick my dog and me in a small stuffy exam room with the doors closed for 25 minutes. Finally, when I'd had enough, I left. Later that night the vet called me and patiently listened to my explanation of why I had left. I tried to explain to her that it would have been courteous to just pop into the exam room and say something like "we're sorry for the delay, it should be about another 10 minutes and then the doctor can see you." Her response was "I'll pass it along."
Well, here's the right answer: "I'm sorry this happened and will do everything I can to make sure it never happens again."
The real shame of it is that the woman who answers the phones, handles the reception desk, and billing is an absolute Pro.
I tried to explain that it would have been co -

Ditto for Megan.
The difference in compassion (as well as cost and care) between Boulder Creek and Felton is like night and day: the difference between, "disease management" (the former) and "health care" (the latter).
Dr. Bob treats people and pets the way I want my family treated. -

This is a very good animal clinic. I have only seen Dr Keil the 4 times I have been there, she is a great veterinarian, seems extremely kind and compassionate. Everytime, whether it was for a cat I was fostering or my own cat, I had a very nice and professional experience. And the price are reasonable, I mean we are talking about vet prices in the Bay Area, so expect to pay a little bit, but compared to a lot of other places, you get a fair bill.
I strongly recommend that place, great staff, clean and nice, and a vet I can totally trust. -

They are friendly, got me in quickly, the facility is really nice, and in general, I was really impressed. Their prices are also reasonable which is important. After a few bad experiences, I'm relieved to find a good, small-town vet.

For a small town vet, these guys are great. Dr. Atton seems like a good man. He sees all my cats now. And they have a relationship with the 24hr emergency place over in Capitola, for dire emergencies.

When I adopted my first cat from the SC animal shelter I decided to go to the Vet in Boulder Creek but wasn't that impressed. I ended up having to pay $170 in medicine because my cat had an upper respiratory infection (cold). I ended up adopted another kitten from a lady in Boulder Creek but this time I went to the vet in Felton. I was blown away by the differences in practices. Felton Veterinary was nice and clean. The people were friendly and really nice. They were very informative and me buy products I didn't necessarily need. They told us the kitty we had adopted was only 5 weeks old and she too had a cold. They gave us two meds for her which only cost about $40 A LOT cheaper than the one in Boulder Creek. They also have really neat kitten package deals. The deals include shots and check ups for under $200. This definitely will be where we go for check ups and pet woes. It's a great place and the veterinarian was really sweet as well. Great experience.

My pet-sitter referred me to the Felton Veterinary Hospital and I'm delighted with the clinic all around: the veterinary care, the front desk staff and the techs are really wonderful. My aging German Shepherd got very sick late last week and I was concerned I might lose him. The staff got him right in for an appointment and did a thorough workup. They also gave me a list of treatment options and made sure I was clear about the costs up front. Their fees are extremely reasonable, they're kind and compassionate with both the animals AND the owners and my dog is doing great. I couldn't be happier. Thank you, Felton Vet!
