Felipe's is the best! My family and Friend's all love the place, when I was a kid we lived within a few miles of the restaurant so we went often. Then about 15 years ago my parents moved across town... do you think that stopped us? No! Every chance we get we take friends here, even when they are from out of town and the likelihood of them returning is slim, but everyone loves the place, even my vegetarian friends. Their tamales are my favorite, if you get a chance order their flour tortilla chips.... OMG! The best anywhere but you have to eat them in when they're still hot, I've made the mistake of ordering them to-go... kind of unpleasant. The restaurant usually has great staff, about a year ago they seemed to go through a slump of snotty/lazy waitresses, but they're over it! I highly recommend them, they are obviously my favorite!

We ate at Felipe's for the 2nd time last night. This time we did takeout and as always it was wonderful. I had their Beef Chimi and it was pefection in flour tortillas!

Felipe's... The first Mexican Restaurant I remember eating at. The service is good, if the restaurant is not busy. My suggestion is, if it is more than 50% full, eat somewhere else. Although the staff is professional and friendly, they become extremely slow when presented with more than a few tables each.
The food is fairly priced, and you always receive generous portions of meat. No skimping for filler lettuce here. While a bit on the bland side, the food is quite good. In my opinion, the salsa is the best in the area. It's made even better with the flour chips which they offer for a small price.
I have eaten here for ten years, and have received a bad meal only a few times.

Felipes is a small family owned restaurant. Nothing fancy here, but if you are looking for good, basic Mexican food, then this is the place to look. The portions are substantial so come armed with a healthy appetite. I had the Chili Relleno and my dining companion had the Chili Colorado, both were quiet good. Felipes is also apparently known for their Chili Verde and Chimichangas, though I have yet to try those. Felipes prices were reasonable and the service was most excellent. The atmosphere was well--let's put it this way, Felipes is probably not the best place for a romantic first date. However, given the high quality of the food and service--atmosphere, shmatmosphere.

My favorite Mexican food in the entire world, including Mexico.
I've been going here for almost 20 years.
And of course they have chimichangas, that's the best thing on the menu. Greasy, covered in guacamole, sour cream, and cheese.
If you want to lose weight, go somewhere else. If you want great mexican good, come here.
I wish I could get food like this in Denver. It's all baked, southwestern garbage here.

Over 20 years, this restaurant has managed to stay in business, primarily because they have no competition in this Citrus Heights neighborhood.
As mexican food, its pretty monotonous and bland tasting. If you're a "gringo" who eats "Chimichangas" .......you'll love Felipe's.
However, if you've graduated to a higher level of mexican cuisine, you'll skip this place entirely.
Filipe's is kind of a hole in the wall Mexican place. You can find staples like taco's and burritos but no chicken enchalada's or chimichangas! To me the food is a little too greasy for my liking.
