I'm a night owl. I do not gravitate toward  the sunlit hours of civilization. And if I happen to be out and about, you'll find me behind some dark shades, lathered up with some SPF 50, none of that Spf 10, or 20 silliness?

Why you would ask would I not like to be out during these hours? Am I too cool? Quite the contrary, I'm a music nerd. Do I fancy myself a vampire? Eh, maybe a few years ago when I was Anne Rice obsessed. Not anymore.

So why?

Simple.

Global Warming folks.

I have never, in my life, felt such piercing rays of sun burning my skin. Nor have I experienced such drastic climate changes in a single week ranging from 50-86 degrees.

Yet. I still see the huge SUVs, the random plastic and styrofoams abound. And the light bulbs.

Have you seen the inside of a light bulb before? That shit cannot be good for the environment.

And though I'm not exactly Captain Planet ( captain planet.... He's our hero). I try to change the way I live:

Refill water bottles
Walk when necessary
Carpool
Slash the tires of big trucks. Kidding!!!
Change my light bulbs to those cute, twisting energy saving models.

I've always used Feit energy saving bulbs. They're all over my house. Makes me feel like I'm in a movie theater, since they start out dim and quickly charge to full.

And I'm doing my part.

I'm surprised with the reviews, all my bulbs are in tip top, green lovin' shape. And I'm not the most gentle person handling such wares.

So go out, get down with some green livin', pick up some Feit and go flick off that Hummer driver.

Out of the 4 pack I bought, only 1 is still working. Pretty pathetic.
BTW according to the rep everyone is misusing their product which causes to fail. I strongly disagree that the 2nd generation cfl's are weak , while the current ones have been perfected and should last longer.
For every ones info I used mine that burnt out in a table chandelier. I added a photo to prove it!  The rep was also speculating that I didnt have the correct voltage, geez I am an Electrican thanks.
I only called to inform them their product is inferrior , and want them to improve them...

Disclaimer:
I own several of their products and all the cheaper screw in twirlys have outlasted their high end Hollywood cfl or recessed can.

BTW checkout.. http://www.onebillionb... for reviews on a particular bulb!

The 50-100-150W bulb on my three-way lamp burned out recently, so I went to buy a new lightbulb. Feit offered an "Eco" bulb that matched my need, so I bought it on Saturday. By Monday night it was no longer working (that's 48 hours, folks), so I took my $10.99 Feit bulb plus receipt back to Walgreens to get a refund and buy myself a standard incandescent bulb for my lamp.

It's a shame, because I've bought other fluorescent bulbs (I think made by other brands) that are still going strong in my bathroom, and I've seen the curly bulbs work well for 24/7 ceiling lighting in an art studio. But I am *not* impressed by the Feit three-way bulb.

It is not green if it burns out in a few weeks.

I've had a number of Feit Electric Compact Fluorescent bulbs, both at home and at work.  They've been installed properly (not getting too hot).  But they burn out at an alarming rate.  Cheap cheap cheap.  I make a point, each time a Feit CF bulb burns out, to call the company for a replacement.  But that's just because I'm seeking a way to get them to improve the product.  I realize it is a waste of energy, money, and effort to buy and install a low quality (and incidentally, high mercury) bulb.  Cheap is not value, cheap is not green.  My most recent Feit bulb?  A 200W equivalent replacement from Fiet used in a stand up office lamp.  Yes, the replacement started to flicker horribly, and then it went totally dark, after less than a month's use.  Some "EcoBulb" indeed.

Review update Oct 2009.  My wife reported a pop sound and an acrid burning smell which we could not locate. We knew something plastic had melted, but looked for 30 minutes before finally finding the still mouldering remains of... you guessed it... another Feit bulb in an overhead track lamp.  There are black streaks coming out of the bulb base, and the entire house stinks.  This was a Feit 13 watt bulb that came with our rental.  The bulb was properly installed, and in no way enclosed by the track lamp.
