I happened upon Faux over 8 years ago.  I noticed that a friend of mine had a kicka@@ new do and I was past ready for a change. I asked her where she got her hair done and she said Faux Salon in Campbell.  Campbell??? Are you kidding me?? It would take me an hour just to get there and back.  I thought to myself, I'm never going there.  Well, a few days later my friend calls me and tells me she has given me her appointment time with the owner Mikel.  I couldn't say no so I made the journey to Campbell. The moment I walked through the front doors I knew I was somewhere special! The energy is amazing! Every one of the stylist is unique, how refreshing.  I live in an area where everyone has the same hairstyle.....it's so mundane. Not at Faux!  Mikel gave me a fresh new style that instantly made me feel better about my look.  Since that first day, I have had many different cuts and many different colors. He and his assistants are amazing at what they do!! Mikel's current assistant is Andrea G. Andrea just gave me the most amazing day-glow red color! I get many compliments. I love her energy and her great personality!

I can't say enough about Mikel.  He is an amazing stylist as well as a great listener!! This is one of the few places I can go and not feel judged.  I call Faux my HAPPY Place.  I am so thankful my friend gave me her appointment!  I never mind the drive, it's well worth it!

Thanks also to Patrick who keeps the salon running smooth and to Ryan who always makes sure I don't forget to book my next appointment!

Upgrading back to a 5 as the rude receptionist has moved to part time and seems to be working on his 'people skills'.

Wanted to update the review to talk about Amy who has been my regular stylist for the last couple years (at least).  As some of you likely know, red is really hot right now -and really hard to have done well on your hair.  Amy does an excellent job.  My last red had multi layers of vibrant colors that stayed in until my next touch up (a rarity for red which rinses out easily).  She also did my perm which is very -not- 80's.

I would recommend her to anyone, but especially if you have challenging hair or need something "complicated" done (color fixed, perm, etc.)

I have been going to Faux Salon for 10 plus years, I can't believe it has taken me this long to give it a review. The salon uses only the best products for your hair and the stylists stay current with trends and new techniques.
My stylist Siobhan is awesome! She consults with you on what you want and if she thinks it going to be damaging to your hair she will let you know. I have always been happy with my cut and my color always turns out amazing!

Because of one inexperienced hair colorist, SAMANTHA, and an unprofessional management team, I am giving this place a generous ONE star. Samantha reassured me that she was able to strip the fuchsia from my bangs and make it blonde in one sitting; she failed due to sophomoric practicality. As a result of rinsing dyed and bleached hair simultaneously, my bangs were turned brown from the black hair dye.

Faux Salon denied a discounted price after I cried and went hysterical in front of other patrons. After trying to contact the manager and Samantha numerous times, I never received a call back. Talk about poor customer service. I will never take or recommend any business to this salon.

One of the BEST salons...there's a reason they've been in business forever!! The owner Michael is always cool and chill when I come in.
My stylist in Caryl (Ca-Ril), she is amazing and has been doing hair for like 20+ years!!!!! The prices are def. on the higher side...but come on people...it's your hair....you don't wanna cheap out on that.....
Make an appt. with Caryl.....if you can...cuz she's that good that she's ususally booked up.!!!!
The salon has a hip/funky feel to it...but it is a family salon too! Bring the whole family.

    I have a confession - I am a hairstyle/haircut/dye JUNKIE!!

Faux Salon has fulfilled every single one of my needs.

Once upon a time (a little over a decade ago), I went to a little salon in downtown campbell that was also a body piercing place. I won't mention the name of that establishment because my aim isn't to put attention to how poorly they processed and styled my hair. Needless to say, after they had managed to bleach my hair to a mucky orange and curled it with a semi warm flat iron, I decided never to go there again and to IMMEDIATELY get it fixed. Enter Faux Salon.

I called Faux and explained what had happened to my hair.  The receptionist who answered the phone was VERY understanding and recommended that a senior stylist fix my hair.  She assured me that this stylist had been doing hair for over 10 years and that she would know exactly what to do to achieve what I wanted (which was to have platinum sections in my hair without losing any length, but still have a polished cut). So, I made an appointment with Gina! I told her what had happened to my hair, she sympathized and then went to TOWN!  She knew EXACTLY what I wanted, wasn't scared to do it because she knew that my hair texture could take every treatment that it would take to get my hair there, and she did it FASTER than any other stylist I'd been to before.  I left that day feeling like a million bucks - Gina was so entertaining and understanding, my hair looked AMAZING and I had found my favorite salon! After that experience, I never looked anywhere else to get my hair done.

Since then I have sat in three other stylist's chairs.

Carrie was my VERY first stylist (LONG before the disaster at the salon/piercing place).  I went in for a trim and she gave me an AWESOME cut. At that time in my youth, my curiosity for cool salons was bigger than it is now, so I chose to keep exploring other locations.

Amber gave me a trim when my hair was long and permed, and also touched up some color that I had that was fading out.  I've seen this girl in the salon ever since she was an assistant and she did a great job as an independent stylist! It's not easy working with permed/curly hair and she actually made my hair look like it was MORE full without losing length! And the color came out beautiful, of course.

Amy is MY GIRL. She assisted Gina during her post-beauty school days, so obviously she learned from the one of the best stylists there.  This is actually the stylist that I sit with now and she'll probably be my #1 stylist until she quits doing hair altogether! She can do ANY type of hair and I have referred people from the whole hair spectrum to her.  All of them have walked away happy and faithful clients! She's always really sweet - asking if the water temp is okay when she washes it, asking if I need another refill on water, offering me magazines when I sit at a dryer, consulting me on ANYTHING I ask about... she even educates me on hair color, cuts etc. if I ask her a technical question. My best friend (who is also a hair junkie AND has graduated from Cosmetology and working in LA) STILL comes back to the South Bay to come get her hair done by her even after being to a few shi-shi salons in LA.

So, to make this review longer, let me state the basics:

    1. Bring a checkbook or make a quick visit to the ATM before you get there because they don't take credit/check cards.

    - These stylists that work at Faux are actually independent contractors.  When you write out checks, they actually get written to your stylist. So having a credit card system would actually create more problems for them.  I don't mind writing checks or bringing cash because i know my payment is going DIRECTLY to the person that worked on me.  Other salons can be shady.  This is a sign that the owners of the salon really take care of their employees.

    2. Expect high quotes.

    - Faux isn't a place to go to if you think you're gonna just go in, get a haircut, then leave after paying the same as what you'd pay at a Supercuts. The experience is totally different. You get offered refreshments, first thing they do is send you to the changing rooms to get into a smock, the shampoos and conditioners they use at their bowls are top shelf products and before you walk out, they make sure that your hair looks its BEST. (They style your hair) After all, they're advertising for themselves. You really get what you pay for.

    3. Parking can be a little sparse.

    - it's in downtown Campbell for Christ's sake.  There isn't really any parking there other than the spread out common lots/garages and the street. But really, how lazy can a person be??

All in all, these stylists know their sh*t. They've all gone through 3 years of assisting there to get their chairs, so LISTEN TO THEM. And don't be intimidated by the look of the salon or the employees.  Like someone else said, you can see grandmas with rollers sitting next to 13 yr old boys getting their hair done.  TRUST FAUX!!

I came to Faux at the suggestion of a friend who has been going here for years.  She recommended Adriana and now I'm passing that recommendation on to everyone else.

I went in needing something done with my color.  Whatever, I don't care, it just needed to be fun, but closer to my natural color so that when my roots showed up... Well, you know how roots can be.  Adriana made a suggestion and we ran with it.  I have never had so many compliments on my hair before!  My mom swears that my hair used to look just like that when I was little.  But I have always been super pleased with Adriana because she actually LISTENS to what you want and helps figure out the best way to get you there.  Even if you want to stay a little conservative.

I look forward to being able to go back in for a cut in the near future.  Unfortunately, you get what you pay for when you come to Faux and I have to save up to get my afternoon of awesomeness.  The prices may be steep, but worth every penny!

I got my hair done AGAIN by Adriana today. As usual I received a compliment within 10 minutes. I walked into Safeway and a man stopped me and said your hair looks great and the color is perfect! I have never been disappointed EVER! Adriana is the sweetest and most talented stylist I know (and my mother does hair too). There are certain people who have a knack for color and she has it!  For sure her unique ability. The shop is hip and always entertaining.
I agree with others about the credit card thing as this is a pain BUT prepare ahead of time and bring your check book and you will NOT be disappointed.
Several of my friends and co-workers go to ADRIANA and we all think she rocks!

I went to Faux Salon after a recommendation from a Yelp friend.  I made an appointment and actually almost didn't go in when I saw it from the outside.  This place tries so hard to be hip and trendy and cool and probably succeeds, but I have no way of knowing because I am not hip and trendy and cool.  It's not really the type of salon I'd normally go to because it makes me feel so un-cool.  My hair is cut into a simple A-line bob and I feel like I shouldn't be going here unless my hair is spiked, uneven, or dyed 4 different colors.  Yes, I realize this makes me sound a bit like an old prude, but I swear I'm not!  It's just an environment that ostracizes some parts of the population.

That being said, I still went in figuring the stylists are all still talented and would give me a standard haircut if I ask for one.  I saw Desiree and she was absolutely lovely and gave me a beautiful haircut.

BUT, they are cash or check only and who these days carries wants to pay a fairly large bill ($70+) with cash or a personal check?  Not me.  These days, it's all about charging it.  Frequent flier points, people.

I got a great haircut, but I won't be going back because they don't accept credit cards.

I really liked this place, but its kind of expensive and they don't take credit cards!  Cash or Checks only!!!    Who doesn't accept credit cards?

The last person to do my hair there was Iris and she did a fantastic job.  She hooked me up with a girl mullet - just the way I wanted it.  My sister goes to Cari and drives all the way from Sacramento just to get her hair done by her.

I go to Elite Image in Willow Glen now.  It's just as trendy, less expensive, takes Credit Cards, and has a more intimate feel.  That doesn't mean this salon isn't great - it is.  I just never have cash or checks with me.

I've been going to Gina at Faux for over 8 years now.  Even after moving to NYC I still hold out til I make a trip back to the Bay Area to visit my family to have Gina Hidalgo color my hair.  Gina is absofuckinglutely HILARIOUS and genius at coloring!  I get raves all the time but too bad I live in NYC and so I can't refer new clients to her!

Gina keeps me in check and tells me straight up if a color I want doesn't work for me!  She is not one to mince words but in the end, just sit back, relax, and let Gina do what she does best....I guarantee she won't disappoint you!

Love me some FAUX. I have been going there for over 7 years. I began going there because and old girlfriend of mine was dating one of the hairdressers there and he would always tell me to come in. So  one day I finally made and appt.

At that time he had an assistant named Siobhan (pronounced Shivon) who was helping him out and was about to be done with her internship there. See in order to get your own station at FAUX you have to go throught their 3 year internship program on top of Cosmetology school. That way, by the time they get a station, they are really good at cut and color. And that makes me feel better cause I know some newbie aint gonna mess up my hair. Well aftr a year and a half my hairdresses was planning on leaving  and Siobhan was done assisting him, so she got her own station.

5+ years later and 10 or more of my good girlfriends and guyfriends and coworkers that now go to her, she still rocks! Very cutting edge cuts and I love what she does with color. I love the results of every "experiment" I make her go through on my hair. hahaha. I'm a hair die whore and i know it. I say i'm gonna stay dark and then three motnhs later i decide to put more highlights in. hahahah. I'm amazed she hasn't killed me yet.

I highly recommend going to Faux and asking for Siobhan. You won't be dissapointed.

I waited three haircuts to write my review.  I get hair cuts about once every 2-4 months depending on the previous haircut.

I see Adriana and she's been great and super sweet everytime.  She somehow manages to make me not look as hideous as I normally do.

Snob factor?  I don't feel it at all with Adriana.  Maybe with some of the other employees at this place.  But hey, it's nothing more than water off my back, really.

had never been to faux before but i heard from a friend that gina was the one to see. i read it on here as well, she has been cutting hair for 20 years and she doesnt fuck around. probably the most real person you have ever met in your life, great stylist, great woman from head to toe. my gf and i both get our hair cut by her. even if i didnt live close enough, id still travel to have her do my hair, well worth it.

the salon may be expensive, as people mention on here. but you get what you pay for. do you want a $2 haircut?? go to supercuts for that shit.

I used to go here to see Vanessa but then there was no one that was like here that could work it out for me...

But that doesn't mean the salon isn't any good. They are all immensely talented and I say that the way it is set up (with so many stylists) you are bound to find someone to give you something good.

Their service rocks, they actually give you a smock - they have a changing room - the whole thing is an experience. I've been thinking about exploring the salon again, but I don't know I can tear myself away from going to Anvil in SF.

They are open on Sundays (super convenient), but only take cash (boo!)...

And they also carry some Bumble & Bumble... which is awesome!

Absolutely hate the environment here. Everyone looks over-the-top, like it's a bar instead of a salon. I can appreciate people being unique but professionalism is important to me.

ISAAC cut my hair for a year or two, but my hair is super thick and was curly at the time he cut it (I've since had Japanese straightening done.)

I could never fault his cuts--he did a good job. However, he never seemed to know what to do with my hair after he cut . I paid $60+ and always walked up with a nasty wad of wet curls. I felt like for the amount of money, he should have been able to do something with my hair besides CUT IT. Expecially since the cut is supposed to include a blow-out and/or style.

Try Legar Salon in Palo Alto instead. Yeah, it's farther, but wow. So worth it!

I literally created a Yelp account just so I could reveiw this place. I've been dying my hair since I was 11, but hadn't in a couple of years. I tried to dye my hair from red to a mix of blue and green. I guess I was out of practice. It ended up being a horrible mess of moldy green, teal, ink blue, orange, blonde and brown.

I was devistated and went to the first salon I could find that did non-natural colors (Rage, also in Campbell), but they were all booked up and couldn't take me as a walk-in, understandbly, but said that there was a salon down the street that might be able to help.

Enter Faux. They were able to help me *right away* on a weekend afternoon with *no notice*. My stylist came and talked to me about what I wanted and she was super friendly and understanding. She even got me smiling and laughing even though my hair was an abortion.

She ended up doing a mix of greens, blues, teals, and purples. My hair looks like the sea! its by far the *awesomest* hair I have ever had and it started with the *worst* hair I have ever had.

It was a bit pricey ($150), yes. But considering how horrible my hair was in the beginning and how detailed and awesome my hair is now, it was TOTALLY worth it. I could not recommend this place more. They are creative and friendly and SAVIORS of hair :)

I get a lot of crap from people when i tell them it costs $40 plus tip for a man's haircut, but for me, it comes down to one thing. Trust.

I've been going to Coco for the past 7 years or so and I don't mind paying a little more because I know that she's going to take care of me and that I'm going to look good when I leave. In fact, when I lived in Lafayette, I'd make special trips down to Campbell to get my hair cut. Now I live in Fremont and work in Livermore and have been known to drive down to Campbell after work just to get a haircut. That's how much it means to me, and it's worth paying for, in my opinion.

Faux is a cool place, trendy and industrial, with an eclectic, "alternative" staff. Lots of interesting artwork, but I kinda miss the cunt art that was on the walls when I first started going there.

Nemesis is a hair god.  Until a friend recommended Faux Salon, I used to fly back to Vancouver, Canada to get my hair coloured.  Other salons I've tried in the past failed to give me the blonde that I wanted.  Nemesis has been exceeding my expectations for over 2 years.  He always gets me in at the last min, sends me off looking like a beauty queen, and is an absolute pleasure to spend time with, to boot!

I suspect that Nathalie is going to have a hard time finding a stylist in the bay area after posting such an utterly ridiculous, poorly punctuated, embarrassingly ignorant and slanderous review.  Giirrrl, you've been black-listed!

Fauxsalonians, you're all fabulous.  Don't go changin'.

I hate getting my hair cut.

There, I said it. I am a disgrace to my gender, as I hate people fussing over me. I never know what I want done to my hair, I can't stand hairdressers who don't talk to their clients, and I hate sitting in that damn chair for hours on end not knowing where my stylist is. I just want to go to someone who can tell me what to do with my hair and do it quickly, instead of looking at me like I just farted when I tell them that I am their empty canvas and to do whatever they think would be best.

    Thank God I found Gina.

Yeah, I blasphemed and gave huge kudos to Gina at the same time. I'll tell you, whoever had to go to 5 Color Cowboy after seeing Gina is a bit nutty. I went to 5 Color Cowboy before seeing Gina (no, I won't say who I went to there, as I am not a complete bitch), and needless to say, my hair was fried. Completely fried, so fried that my fiance noticed how unhealthy my hair was. Nice people, but whack ass hair job. Mmmm  hmmm, I said whack ass. But I will save that for my review of 5 Color Cowboy.

Gina is fantastic. I am so damn ignorant about my hair (besides knowing when it is fried), I don't how how to style it. I told Gina, and she gave me a cut that was so low-maintenance it was ridiculous. When my hair grew out, my roots hardly showed. Fantastic cut and color aside, she took the time to know me, know what I do for a living, and know what my style is so she could give me the perfect haircut. That right there is the difference. Yes, sometimes she is busy and can't give you her undivided attention, but no decision about your hair goes without her consent.

Go to Gina. Your hair begs it of you.

    **Update 10/07**

I still go to Gina, if that means anything to anyone. That wasn't a one-off review.

Woohoo! My first Yelp review EVER! What better place to pick?!

I am here to say that I FREAKIN' LOVE GINA! I'm proud to say that I have drank the muthafuggin' kool-aid.

If you're the type that can't take a joke/the truth/in some way or another have a stick up your ass, then stay the hell away. I'm serious! Besides, you'd be taking away precious chair-time I'd gladly fill. You're guaranteed a great conversation when you're in Gina's chair; there's no bullshit with her. She'll tell you what she thinks of your current cut/color (and no, it's not always bad), and she'll tell you what will look good and what will look very, very bad. You can do that when you've been doing hair as long as she has (18 years, if I remember correctly).

AND she's quick! Holy freakin' cow, she cut off 7 inches of my mop with a razor -- and she shaped it up, with all the layers and shtuff -- and had a final product in like, 10 minutes! Crazy! Now before you go thinking that's a bad thing, keep this in mind -- I'm still getting compliments a month later!

She also didn't push color and/or highlights, which was a HUGE plus with me! If you have naturally jet black hair like mine (in my case, it's Wonder Woman blue black), after a while, you start to think that's a bad thing, since everyone and their mom and sister wants to lighten and highlight the hell out of their hair - hence, the reason I started coloring in the first place. It's nice having a stylist that appreciates dark hair!

So, what are you waiting for? Go see her! And take cash with you!

I realized that I've never reviewed my salon. I'm such a crap customer!

I've been seeing Liz pretty much exclusively for the last several years. Previously I was all about Los Gatos salons but my favorite hair stylist moved on to a new career. Lo and behold, Faux is down the street from my apartment and Liz blows my old stylist out of the water.

I've never had so many compliments on my hair before her. If I'm stuck in a hair rut (which happens a lot), she whips something out of her bag of tricks that makes my hair look both different AND amazing. I've run into other stylists that regardless of how they cut your hair, it always looks the same. That NEVER happens with Liz. She's amazing!

The price has gotten higher ($63 for a haircut - no color) but I've always been willing to pay more for quality. She knows that my hair grows insanely fast and is always willing to cut my bangs a bit shorter than she'd like so they'll look right for more of my haircut. If I got long bangs, I'd have to get them cut every 2 days, I swear! Her cuts also grow out amazingly well. I typically only see her every 3 months - less if I'm growing my hair out.

I've never had a color done by her because I'm trying to reclaim my hair virginity. Maybe one of these days.

    And another update!

I have referred a couple of friends here who now see Agie.

The other day I HAD to have my hair cut--it was driving me crazy because I was trying to wait as long as possible between cuts (recession budget). Well, I couldn't wait any longer and Liz wasn't available, so I went to Isaac.

I know a couple of people who were Isaac's clients and I've witnessed his magic sitting in Liz's chair across the way. He and I had a great time trying to figure out what to do with my hair that would be different and cute. He asked me questions and then came up with something that he started to form on my head.

I'm still getting used to it and have received a bunch of compliments today. Awesome! Sometimes it's good to get a different perspective--but I always seem to go back to Liz--she doesn't freak out or give me a guilt trip for seeing someone else sometimes.

I love my hairstylist at Faux.  Her name is Sibionne and she is fabulous :)  I almost died when I got the bill the first time I went, buuuut....she did such a great job at fixing my color.  It was growing out and ...UGH.  I was there for 4 hours though.  Anyway -- she really knows what she's doing and has a great personality to boot.  My boyfriend and I both go to her and I wouldn't have it any other way.  Matter of fact...I'm heading there this week for a bang trim :)
OH...only 4 stars because they don't accept credit or debit cards. Boooo to that !   Don't forget your cash !!

Been going to this place off and on for about 2 years...or 3. Don't remember.

First things first, this place is awesome.

Around south bay, normally you go around barbershops, salons, and boutiques and junk and generally its pretty dry mirror and tiles kinda shop. Not any ol shop, generally ASIAN shops. Yes, deep down I hate my own kind, may Jeebus save me. Anyways, typical blah places with 70's sun faded pictures of frizzy half-a-hair-spray-can look.

Quite frankly I was tired of that and the you-ask-for-short-but-they-cut-shorter dealio.

Go to Faux and its like, wow all your problems and debts go away! Not really. But you can have that illusion.

Outside, the only characteristics are tinted windows...and a crown? Odd and plain, but totally contrasted inside. What with paint splattered ground, naked abstract pictures on the walls, blobby mirrors, and music thats either in the 70's, 80's, never heard of, in another language, or on crack. Thankfully the thumping techno isn't there. Every stylist you see has a personallity with hair cuts of all shapes and colors.

My first Stylist was Natalie. Showed her a picture of an anime character (nerd am I) and she cut it to my desired look. Pretty damn cool. Honestly, I don't know why, but after a while, I swapped over to her brother Nemesis. Yes, Nemesis....moo-wahahahah. If you open to him, he'll open up to you. Can be a real person compared to those Asian ladies that zip through your hair in 5 mins.

Now I know why girls divulge their secrets to their stylist....Not me of course. *shifty eyes*

This deserves a 5, but I knocked it down to 4 because its damn pricey. You pay for the environment, humanly stylist, and good hair.

Been coming here since college.  Never had a cut I didn't like.

I see Coco these days, and really enjoy both the styles and the conversation.  She always makes me look good, and is most enjoyable company.  As I have difficult hair, with cowlicks and curls, I deeply appreciate the great work, and the consistency of it.

I had been looking for place to get my hair done sine last year. Every where that I have gone, is too expensive and they do not know how to do color. I found a place that did exactly what I aksed for. WHat a concept.. HUH??? DO what the customer asks for.
Iris did a great job!! **** FOUR STARS!! She repeated back to me exactly what I had requested before she did anything. She took the time to listen to me and what I really wanted and she did exactly that. It was expensive, but well worth the results that I got. I would totally recommend going to see Iris at Faux Salon.

    Worst hair experience ever!!!!

The salon is overpriced and not worth a dime.  The stylist they assigned me to "Nemesis" cut less than 1/2 an inch from my hair and didn't thin it out (after I told him my hair grows quick and thick).  He spent almost an hour cutting nothing.  I needed another cut less than 2 weeks later (normally 4-5 weeks!?).  I was not about to pay another $50 for this waste of time.

I have been seeing Nemesis for three years and he is the man.  A couple of times I have gone elsewhere but it's worth paying the price for the best. They also carry a variety of products including a bunch of bumble & bumble.

Main drawback: they only take cash, which is inconvenient. If they took credit/debit, this would be a 5 star review.

So i went here for my major life altering cut. i had my hair down to my butt and cut it up to past my shoulders to donate. I went with Cari, honestly i just called up and ask if they had any openings and i just went with who ever was available because i was so sick of calling around and talking to bitchy receptionist at other salons.
The atmosphere is cool, like hanging mirrors cut in to cloud shapes and neat colors and picture on the walls.
The only thing was there were like older ladies there and i thought OMG while I was sitting there waiting, like what have i gotten myself into am i going to come out with like an 80 year old perm??
But the stylist all seem nice.

Cari was really cute she talked a lot and was really friendly she totally understood that i didn't want a drastic cut because i was cutting so much off at once so she cut something that was short but still conservative.
She didn't' push any products at all because at the beginning she asked me if i used any and i told her i didn't so i LIKE that a lot.
There's nothing like pushy sales person to ruin the experience.
It cost $60 which i thought was reasonable I've been to other places that cost way to much for the same OLE cut.
All and all i like it.

My husband and I have been seeing Marylou for over 5 years now and we are so in love. We do both cuts & colors and she always gives us exactly what we want, if not more. We're both always complemented on our hair and we're very happy. She cares about her clients and is awesome! She makes going to the salon a good time.

The best thing about Faux is that the stylists always give me the cut I want.  Sure, we might talk about it, sentient being to sentient being, but I always walk out of there with hair that's better than I imagined it could be.  That's really saying a lot.  My experience at almost every other salon I've been to is that I don't get the cut I want, or I get the cut I want after the stylist has made abundantly clear they think I'm crazy.

It's not just one stylist at Faux who's good, too.  I think I've had a different stylist every time I've been there, and they're all excellent.  I also brought my mother there when she was visiting, and she still talks about her cut with tears in her voice because she can't get it duplicated where she lives.

There are only two downsides to the place: they only accept cash or checks, which is inconvenient, and the salon can be a furnace in the summer.  Parking is also somewhat complicated, but that's not their fault.

Bottom line: my visit today has convinced me that I'm not going to waste my time going anyplace else in the South Bay.

I was referred to see a stylist named Nemesis, at Salon Faux, with a great recommendation from a close & trusted family friend. I had absolutely no idea that after walking in there @ 3pm, excited & eager to get my new highlights done that I would leave 6 hrs later @ 9 crying my eyes out in utter disbelief w/ the foul damage & color done to my hair.

At 1st we had a quick consultation, talked about lightening up my hair & he stated that he was going to proceed w/ caution by adding some protein to my already highlighted hair. Next he left me for 30mins to mix the color! Took it upon himself to add in an Orange/Red Base Color To My Roots! He then washed, dried & flat ironed my hair to start the highlighting process, which took him 2hrs to put in carelessly scattered around my hairline! The style & process of his foiling, even for me, as a nonprofessional was a bit embarrassing. I could tell his process was way off placing the foils in a slapdash fashion. There is no pattern, no organization, very sloppy and choppy!

He then washed out my hair the 2nd time, blew it out & flat ironed it again. I looked in the mirror in utter shock to see copper & brassy chunky roots! Which matched NOTHING on the rest of my head! I was truly DISGUSTED. I thought I was in a nightmare, so I took a deep breath & I prayed that he would see the disaster he created & would do something to fix it but No! He attempted it two times! & it didn't improve 1 SINGLE BIT leaving me distraught, completely in shock, & embarrassed to go to work the next day.

Then Nemesis, the imprudent idiot preceded to hand me a bill of $185 dollars [$115 for highlight & $70 for blow dry] I thought it was a joke. I handed over my credit card, which he told me he couldn't accept & said I can pay him later because I didn't have cash/check & he put me in his book for Tues. I then left crying all the way to my car in Downtown Campbell. I could hardly drive, as I was hysterically crying. I was so mad because Thanksgiving was in 2 days & I was going to be completely mortified in front of my family, not to mention my boyfriend's family who came in from out of town & I was going to meet for the 1st time! All I was thinking about was how humiliated I was going to be at work! I didn't sleep that night.

The next day I called the manager "Patrick" w/an urgent message to discuss this matter. He called me back 4 days later & left me a message to call Tues. Later that same day, I received a threatening voice mail from Nemesis & NEVER IN MY LIFE have I had someone speak to me in that way. Nemesis, who I thought was actually a nice & humane person before, said in his message that I better OWE him his Money & I shouldn't think that I am getting out of not paying him, that I BETTER be coming in on Tues so he can fix "what's NOT WRONG" w/ my hair & then went on to scold me for actually calling his manager, in a demeaning tone of voice. He then went on to say that he doesn't like it if I am wasting his time? I was so frightened after receiving that kind of message. I let all my friends & family hear it & they were in utter disbelief! I work in customer service & I was in shock @ this harassing phone call from a service provider. If I was even thinking of letting him try to correct the damage he had done why would I in my right mind be thinking to go back after that kind of a message? I have lots of pictures & proof! My hair looks & feels AWFUL, beyond repair from all the blow drying, bleaching & straightening he did in that one day & no matter how hard I try to repair it the damage will take months to correct! Not to mention the cost of fixing it, my time wasted & tons of deep treatments.

I felt belittled that day & couldn't believe that I would be accused of being cheap! I am willing to pay lots of money for good work; I get my hair done every 5 weeks! Oh & don't think the manager will show you the slightest bit of sympathy or try to resolve this incident. Patrick simply listened to me for 10mins. Said nothing w/o even 1 apology! In the end he chimed in w/ "What do u want ME to do about it?," sarcastically. I figured then & there, they didn't want to do any sort of Damage Control so I offered to email him the pics so he could see what I was talking about; He didn't want me to email him but instead rudely asked me to drop off hard copies to him, as if I hadn't wasted enough time dealing w/ this problem? But let this be a Warning. Faux has 2 of the most vulgar & disrespectful people working there. I will make Every effort to WARN ANY & EVERY person about the ways in which Salon Faux chooses to operate their business. I even have an aunt in the Better Business Bureau I am letting know about this! Salon Fake, or Faux obviously doesn't care about the reputation of their business! Nemesis, also by def means "to destroy or ruin." It makes no sense to go to a FAKE (Faux) Salon to have your hair DESTROYED/ RUINED (Nemesis)!

Just had a nice relaxing visit with Jason. I would have to say with the warm reception from Patrick, the scalp and massage from the assistant, and a great chat and haircut from Jason; made my day.  You should definitely check this place out and have Jason take care of you.
