Faultline Brewery is an offical sponsor of the Silicon Valley Roller Girls.

Faultline has provided beer at our events since our inaugural '08 season. Jose (manager) is always pleasant to work with and tries to always cater to our needs. They donate the beer as to help us in our efforts get roller derby off the ground.

All of our customers are pleased with their beer selections. We have had nothing but compliments on the high quality beer pours we offer at our events. People often ask where they can get the beer and are happy to see local talent in the industry offered at our events.

We did not like the menu.  There were no options for sandwiches or burgers although you could order a burger by request.  Most of our group ordered burgers, and noticed they were more raw in the center.  Yuck!

The server was not very friendly.  This did not help matters.

The prices are way too high for what you get.  $19! for pot roast???????!!!!!!  Are you joking?  All entrees ranged above $15, and the quality is NOT great for that.  I know $15 was the lowest entree price because that was also the price of the SALAD!  This was not an amazing salad by any means.  The lettuce was cheap and so was the thin slice of chicken on top.  Come on.  This IS California home of creative salad & healthy food choices?  What a crappy excuse for a salad!
We will not return.  There are far better options in the area for beer & much better food.

Decor = Big place with a fountain in the backyard

Service = Barely passing

Food = Disappointed.  There is not that much selections.  I was also bummed that they don't have the basic stuff like Fish&Chips

Value = Food price is more on the pricy side.

Kid Friendly = They are alright, but you won't find much kids there.

Recommendation = Nothing that is awesome.  FYI - we had their raviolis, mac nut crusted fish and their special of the day.  All I can say is I won't come back to this place again.

Note - Did not drink that day, so I can't comment on their beer.  bummer.

This is just for the food review, as I am not a beer drinker

-Spinach & Mushroom Ravioli with chicken -- not bad
- I also had some of their sausages, and it was disappointing

Service needs to be better.....

Other than beer, their appetizers are awesome. I wish they were open on weekends. The place is crowded on Friday evenings and LOUD. Sitting outside by the pond is nice.

The beer was very good (best bitter and the cask conditioned IPA), the appetizers too (fried mushrooms especially). I enjoyed my entree (the tri tip), and had the luxury of  all of this being "on the company", which was fortunate cos the food was expensive.

The ambience is south bay sterile, but it was a pleasant experience overall. Worth stopping in for a beer every once in awhile, but I wouldn't call it a hang out.

I won't fault this place for the reputation of having cars broken into while parked in their parking lot.  Although the decor is a little nicer and quieter than Gordon Biersch, I probably would rather prefer GB over this place.  Their service was good and they were helpful in bringing samples of beer to taste when deciding on a brew.  But geez...$25 for a steak at a microbrewery?  Geez...that's more than Outback and at least at Outback I know that they are specialists so I wasn't going to risk it here.

Drinks and appetizers are the safest bets here.  A entree sized chicken caesar or salmon caesar was pretty good too but otherwise, everything else can be avoided.

Faultline Mgt:

My wife and I entered your establishment at 8:45pm on 10/2/09 with the purpose of having some drinks and dinner.  This was our 3rd time in your establishment together over the last 2 months.  But I have enjoyed lunch at Faultline numerous times.  After selecting a pub table in your bar, and waiting 5 minutes or so, we were approached by a pudgy waitress with long dark hair.  (I did not catch her name.)  Before we could finish ordering our drinks, this portly waitress demanded my credit card!  My wife and I looked at each other in surprise, and we proceeded to tell her that we did not wish to open a tab and just have drinks... we wanted to have dinner too.  She said that all the bars in this area required a credit card to be held.  I corrected her by saying that in my 20 years of living in Sunnyvale, no bar from San Jose to SF had required my credit card unless I was opening a tab for the night.  Furthermore, during our other visits to this exact bar, my wife and I had never experienced someone demanding our credit card before we even received our drinks.  Apparently, not hearing what I just said, your waitress asked if we had been to Faultline before.  We replied "yes, several times."  To this your employee responded "well, if you were regulars, we would not have to hold your credit card."  She then walked away, with my credit card.  Excuse me??  Did I just hear a representative of your establishment tell me that it is Faultline's policy to hold my platinum visa hostage unless I come there more often?!?  That's ridiculous!  After stewing on your employee's rude behavior for a moment, my wife and I decided to leave.  I walked over to your waitress, who still had my credit card and was starting to punch in our order, and I said "we changed our mind."  She handed me back my card without comment, and we left.  We went to the Tied House, and had a lovely evening.  This may go without saying, but I will say it anyway:  We do NOT intend to visit Faultline again in the future.  I have mentioned this story to my colleages.  Maybe it won't make a difference, maybe it will.  But either way, you should educate your staff better on how to treat paying customers.  Because the pudgy one with long black hair working the bar on Friday 10/2/09 at 8:45pm just lost you two.

I love a place who greets you with signs warning "Go back to your car and secure your laptop".

Geez! Hire a guard, if it's truly this dangerous!

The food and ambiance are slightly above average.  I spent many business lunches, here, and would say the salads are good and get here early, or you will not get a table. The Hostesses were always nice, and the beer is excellent.

Great inhouse beer selection compared to Rock Bottom/BJ's/Coop. If you can't make up your mind and aren't picky about(or love) different types of beers, get the sampler. I was good to go after finishing off all of them.

Prices are a bit on the high side for entrees. And they're not that great for the price.  I would just recommend just going to the bar and getting apps. I went to happy hour here once and the prices for beer and apps were pretty good.

I came here once with a co-worker a few years ago.  I was shocked at the great view -- at least great by Sunnyvale standards.  I can't remember now what my main dish was, but it came with a side of grilled stone fruit, which I absolutely *loved*.  Since then, every summer I've been grilling a little stone fruit of my own at home.

Anyway I've been trying to take my boyfriend here for years, but it's always closed.  We seem to have a hard time remembering that they close on the weekends.  Since we had the day off of work yesterday (a Friday), we finally got to go for lunch!  I was disappointed to see that the stone fruit is no longer on the menu, but I had a delicious seafood gumbo.  All of the ingredients were fresh and cooked just right.  My boyfriend had fish 'n chips which he said was very good.  (We're both picky about seafood freshness and flavor)  Actually the gumbo could have been spicier, but I added some Tabasco and it was fine.

Good news is they're now open on Saturday evenings so we will hopefully be able to make it back there soon!  It's kind of out of the way but pairs nicely with a visit to the Baylands park or a shopping trip at Fry's or Sports Basement down the street.

Had a "work dinner" here the other night.  The fried calamari was ok but not great.  My entree was the pot roast.  Actually was pretty good!  the waiter did not steer me wrong on that one.  My dinner guest had the gumbo.  He enjoyed it but did not rave about it.  They also serve a home brewed root beer (which is nice if you like root beers - - which I do).  It was also good but not great.  Prices are fair.  Overall a pleasant meal with no major problems, but also nothing to write home about.  Let's keep this place as a work dinner spot.  Let's just say Gordon Biersch has nothing to worry about.

Dinner with work.  Short and simple.

Beer - Great beers and would go back
Food - Okay but the did I tell you about the beer.
Wait Staff - Great and friendly
Return - Yes, focus on the drinks but the food is good enough for a return visit.

Go for the beer and the friendly people, the food is good with beer.

Been here a bunch of times with work friends and for work events. The food is just better at lunch then at dinner. They seem to have more variety at much more decent prices.

The atmosphere is good, fun for lunch. Nice for dinner. Dinner is good, have been here a couple of times, but never the default place.

Lunch is where this thing is great. Great food, good prices. Only complaint, they are closed on the weekends. I mean what place closes on the weekend. Would have gotten 4 stars had I been able to go here for a nice weekend lunch since driving to Sunnyvale for lunch is not really an option.

Lunch with coworkers. They screwed up the orders (at least a few).
I ordered grilled prime tri-tips. Hmmm. Some greasy, some with a lot gristle. Mashed potatoes were like someone forgot mashing in the middle.
Will not go back and do not recommend the place.

It's a little weird seeing signs for not leaving your laptop, electronics, etc in the car...not a good feeling.  Bleh

They only serve beer or wine.  Bleh

The potato skins were more like halved potatoes with stuff on top.  Bleh

It's a meat market, lots of men.

I met a colleague here for lunch.  It was super busy and he did not make a reservation.  The hostess was really nice and got us a table.

So it is American bar food, which is not the healthiest on earth.   I had the fish tacos, which had a strange texture.  My friend had the burger with onion rings, which he liked.

This place remains me of many work related meals that I've had here.  It's not my favorite.

Good beer, friendly waitresses. The place is very accomodating to groups. I've brought one here for the past couple of weeks and they've been great. Even remembering me by the second time. More importantly, when people were looking for our group, they were correctly directed to us. The Faultline didn't mind us posting a temporary sign for our group either.

The food is a little expensive and it isn't a huge menu. What you get is filling and tastes good. The service was a little slow with a huge group (20) but fast the next week with 4.

Parking is a bit of a challenge in early evening. The parking lot is large so you'll find a space. You'll just need to walk a bit. By later in the evening it thins out.

The outside area is very pretty and in Summer I highly recommend it. Inside is appealing to the eye though it can be fairly noisy.

This place is like a hidden gem of Sunnyvale, serves mostly people who works around there - very industrial.
Got dinner here last nite for a friends bday dinner. I love their mahi mahi and yes the IPA - sweeeet! Just like Sierra on tap!
Our sever is great, I asked the kitchen for a couple of candles and the other server took some from the cabinet and gave me matches, right there right then, that's a good service right there! There's not much peeps during Wednesday night, pretty calm for a brewery. But I always love the food. Oh except for the pot roast and too bad they ran out of corned beef last night, otherwise, well since I missed the other nights St. Patty's cbeef. But hey I always enjoyed this place.

I mean, it was fine - nothing terribly special.  Definitely a Silicon Valley establishment.  They actually have a happy hour now - it started this week, literally.  $3.50 pints and $$ off appetizers, so that should make people happy!

It was huge and can easily accomodate parties.  We should know because there were like 5 parties going on around us while we tried to enjoy dinner and shout to each other across the table.

The food was ok, the beer was better.

Had high hopes for this place but left disappointed. Not a big menu selection and from the food we did order it was "just okay" - nothing to write home about.  My good friend was looking for a particular item on the menu, but apparently it's no longer offered.  :-(

Waiters and hostess were friendly. Atmosphere is good with nice views, but a little cold.  No problem finding a parking (did someone know something about this place that we didn't?).

The only thing that saved this place was the good time I had with friends.  Then again, I could go elsewhere with those same friends.

I make it to the Fault Line every time I am in Sunnyvale which is usually two to five times a year.  It's close to corporate headquarters and is a nice place to drop in and have a beer or two before calling it a night.  The bar area certainly has that feel of an "after work" drink spot.  You can usually find someone sporting the company logo.

Having tried some of the other local brewpubs, I have to say the beer keeps bringing me back.  I think the beer here is much better than the Tied House, BJ's, Gordon Biersch or Rock Bottom.  I like the fact they often have a Belgian beer and I like their Belgian beers, especially the tripel.  The IPA is good as well.  To the dismay of some, there is only beer and wine - no full bar service for those that don't like malted or grape derived beverages.

As for the food, I agree with many others that it's a bit overpriced and not always great despite trying to be creative.  But I find the salads reasonably priced and usually fairly tasty.  There's a $9 burger for those that are concerned about prices and eat red meat.

The wait staff is hit or miss.  There is one taller blonde waitress in the bar area that really is incredible - friendly and very attentive service.  If she's in, sit in her section.  Otherwise, I've had so-so luck with some waitresses leaving a menu and then going off-shift or just waiting for someone to realize your glass has been empty for 20 minutes.

But for me, it's all about the beer.  So I can overlook some of the shortcomings because I think they have some of the best brewpub beer around the area.

Been here mainly (always) on business, including a company xmas dinner.
The location is awesome, the lake and the big glass windows with the nice view, the outdoor patio, and a nice place to have a few drinks with co-workers or friends.  It gets loud, and the food is just OK, but portions are huge.  I usually get the French Dip sandwich, which is good.  The crispy calamari appetizers were good also.

It's a brewing company though, so thats their forte.
We tried the sampling assortment of small glasses different beers, that was kinda neat, as I'm not a big beer person, but I think they're truly good at brewing beer.

Went here today with a group from work, and since we were on our lunch hour, we couldn't indulge in the one thing you should order when you eat at a brewery; beer. Given this, I am reviewing solely based on the food, service, etc.. I am hopeful I will be able to update my review after I return here and throw back a few pints.

I was slightly taken back by the number of signs in the entry that warned against leaving laptops, cell phones, etc.. in your vehicle. I assume they have had some car break in problems here. They seem to be very accommodating to large groups, and our group was seated immediately. The service was decent given we were here during the lunch rush. The menu seemed a tad limited with a heavy focus (at least to me) on Seafood. You can also order your standard brewery fare as well. I stuck with the standard burger, and fries and it was very average. I will come back here again because I was to increase my rating after trying their brew.

Been to this place for business lunches usually; the guests seemed to enjoy except that "get real loud" part.

- Maybe a new menu selection for a change.
- Beer/ale is ok, better than some other micro brewery/pub restaurants in the area.
- Portions are large.
- I don't think you want to take your date here.

This place is known for having cars broken into so make sure you lock your laptops in the trunk before you get there.  I had the Mahi-Mahi the last time I was there and it was pretty good.  We had a large group and ordered a variety of appetizers but none were memorable enough to write about.  This is a bit disappointing since I expect good appetizers from a brewery.  Is that wrong?

Haven't been there for years.  Six of us met for dinner last Wednesday.  The sun was setting right on my face where the hostess seated us.  Asked the waitress, somehow they didn't have blinds for that window, but didn't offer to move us.  No biggie as I thought it would go away soon.  I ended up squinting for 20 mins though.

Good beers.  Calamari was not bad but got cold fast and not as crispy as they said it would be.  My Blackened Ahi tuna was pretty good.  Roasted potato slices had a really nice texture.  I didn't like that they plated with a whole stalk of bland broccoli.  Supposed to be garlic broccoli.  Couldn't they have cut it into more manageable sizes.  Friends enjoyed Corned Beef and Cabbage.  The Stuffed Chicken was in a nice sauce and tasty with the cheese and pecans.  The asparagus was dry.  Angel Hair Carbonara was ok.

Waitress was humorous.  The support staff was efficient with refilling beverages.

WHAT? A Brewery with no happy hour? No Specials? No Way!

Went down here the other week with some friends for a "happy hour" only to find it didn't exist here. We sat in the "bar" area that had tables which was pretty nice. One side of this area was set near a huge bench that lined the wall. That made it easy for people to bunch up at one end of the table.

Had some beers and some appetizers. Pretty good. Had all the normal stuff - garlic fries, calamari, cheese dip. I enjoyed it. There was a good selection of beer and the service was pretty good also. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating.

The (weekday) atmosphere here was very after-work business class. We got here around 6.30/7 and saw everyone in business attire with loosened ties. Makes sense since its pretty much in the middle of the Valley. I tend to forget that not all folks that work out here wear jeans to work. The building structure is pretty interesting also. Lots of angles, very industrial. Nice place to be.

Three stars. The place is cool. I didn't have dinner so I could be a little biased. My experience here was good, the atmosphere is nice, but the lack of happy hour specials is a real hamstring for me.

Food: Under par
Service: Okay
Price: Overpriced!!

Wow. I didn't realize that a brewery could be so overpriced. I think the beer was in the $7 range, if I remember correctly. I went here for happy hour with some friends since it is walking distance from my work, and I will likely never go back. We stayed for dinner, and the entrees were about $25 per pop. Not that impressive, either. The outside patio did look really nice, but I'm still in shock from the fact I paid $40 for a beer and dinner at a brewery.

We were laughing because (as expected) in silicon valley central, the clientele is, well, umm, strongly male techies. I'm thinking about going down the street to St John's for happy hour one of these days.

Love the beer, love the food, love the atmosphere. A bit pricey and they aren't open on weekends. Was a fun place to have my 25 friends meet, but they do tend to close early for a brewery.
Kinda in line with Gordon Bierch. But prefer the beer and the more 'micro-brewery'.

Went here last night with a group of friends. One had been here a few years ago and said the place was alright so we decided to try it out. Everyone that was there apparently came here after work and we were all in our casual attire. We did not fit in with the crowd at all.

I ordered a spinach salad and the cheese ravioli. The salad was good but way too much dressing. The cheese ravioli was good but everything else they stuck in it was questionable. Definitely not worth the $16. Food is very overpriced here.

The only thing nice I have to say about this place and why I am giving it 2 stars instead of one is the service. Food came out fast and the waitress was nice and always came back to check if we wanted/needed anything else.

I do not recommend this place at all.

It cracks me up how many people give negative stars for the clientle. Maybe i just haven't hung out with enough obnoxious tech types. I work in a tech co. close to this place, but my engineer co-workers beat the stereotype and actually have social skills.

I don't have any complaints about faultline. the outside makes me think the tin man should live there. I brought about 15 people here for an office lunch. There was no problem getting seating. the set-up is a little strange. the middle of the restaurant has this raised area, almost like a stage, with lots of super tall curtains, pulled to the side. I guess if you have a personal party, you can wrap yourself up in a little enclosed circle like it's your own extra large private hospital bed.

The noise level was a little high, it wasn't easy to talk to everyone in the group, but then again, 15 people, its gonna split into a bunch of small conversations anyway.

The appetizers were decent: crispy calamari, pita wedges with a shrimp dip (I couldnt really taste the shrimp). the falafel balls were described as "indian influenced" by my co-workers, because they tasted curry-ish. there were only 7 on a plate with a kind of amalgam of sauces spread thin underneath. they were popular.

vegan/egg free options are very limited. one guy got a salad with extra avocado (definitely over a cup of avocado, i was impressed). his other options were basically sides: fries, rice, marinated bean salad (didnt look too tasty).

I got a french dip. It was good. The price is a little higher than your average lunch spot, but the next step down in the area is basically very  casual, like togos. I mean, I wouldnt spend 12$ for a sandwich, but Im a total cheapskate and lunch for me usually consists of rice crackers or an orange. Spending money is against my nature. spending my company's money? no problem!

they have a number of fish options, including mahi mahi and snapper. The chicken marsala sauce was more yellow than red, I was told it was just ok. The chicken caesar salad was huge, with giant chicken slices.

all of the plates seem to be hand sponge painted around the rim in various 2-color combinations, to somewhat match the colors of the food. I wasn't into it, but they get points for the effort.

I got the dunkel weisen beer (kind of an emasculating name, if you ask me), which was described on the menu as a dark hefeweisen, with a nutty flavor. normally I like dark beers, but I wasnt really into it, because the aftertaste was a little sweet for me. it didnt seem hefeweiseny at all (isnt it sposed to be cloudy, cause its not filtered?), but, you know, semantics.

I LOVE the outdoor patio so even though the food is nothing special I will continue to go back.

Service is random. Been here 3 times and had excellent service once and blah service twice.

I ate the turkey cobb which was alright. The waiter got all my modifications right so points for him! I have also ordered the Chicken Sand which was alright- a little dry.

My favorite is the Hot Artichoke Shrimp dip. Hot means temperature not spicy! It is yummy and the bread/pita for dipping is salted perfectly!!!

The bathrooms are big and clean so they score some points there too.

Overall the outdoor seating is why I will continue to go back and experiment with the menu.

The first five minutes in this restaurant reminds me of that one scene from 'Meet the Parents' where Greg (the Ben Stiller character) was waiting for his seats to be called for boarding by a plastic-faced flight attendant while no one else was even boarding the plane.  Simply put, he could have just walked right in.

So could we.  Had it not for the "No seating until 11.30AM" rule and the fact that we got there at 11.27AM.

Not that I have any qualm about it.  I did find lunch at noon too early when I first moved over here, and I still think it is.  Or at least my stomach does.

The reason why I mentioned it is because there's nothing else worth mentioning about the restaurant.  I'm going to have to use that favorite term of mine again to describe Faultline: run-off-the-mill.

I blame it on my ignorance - I don't know my lager from my pale ale.  Hence (with the one exception of Guinness in Dublin) all the breweries that I've visited for lunch look the same to me.

I haven't been here for a while, but everytime I do stop in, it reminds me why our team's normal meeting spot is elsewhere.

Service is pretty good, although my co-workers started ordering two beers at a time because our server was getting slower in returns to our table.

Food:
- I've done the sit-down dinner thing here a few times and I'm not impressed.  My co-worker took out some people for a business dinner here and everyone was wishing they had gone to El Torito with our other part of our group instead.
- Appetizers:  Our server recommended the meatballs (yes, strange, but they were pretty good), calamari (not impressed) and the ahi rolls (pretty good!).  We also ordered the veggie tempura (stay away from this one!), quesadilla (I didn't have any, but there wasn't any left).

I'm not a beer person so I can't comment on their beers, but I can say I was not impressed with their wine list.  So unimpressed that I decided to have a pear cider instead.

Atmosphere: it is nice!  very industrial sort of look.  I find the wood columns in their bar area to be rather annoying when you have a large group.  Inevitably, everyone is annoyed with that and the lack of space so people start spilling into the walk area.
