If I take the sandwich to go what are the chances of it being to soggy to eat? I'll be driving 20 to 25 minutes back to Hawthorne.
A:
Most sandwiches wouldn't get soggy in that amount of time. I've even had one of their sandwiches the following day and still delicious.

Late-night spot near a college campus? *Chef's kiss*.
We happened to casually be in Westwood at 2 am with a crowd of 10 folks in need of some refreshment, and Fat Sal's was marketed as a "late-night burger place" that perfectly fit the bill.
After spending five minutes waffling back and forth over what to get or even whether to order, my friend and I split the Philly cheesesteak fries. It was certainly enough to feed both of us, even in our hunger. The fries were perfectly crispy and the ratios were pretty solid, although even more cheese would've been perfection.
It wasn't cheap, but really, is anything in Los Angeles?Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 14, 2024
Fat Sal's is a bit of a performative experience. The food is good. The service is prompt. It feels like a hole in the wall and the food is served like your favorite idea of a cheat meal that Guy Fieri dreamed up. Something doesn't quite click in the whole experience however. Too much sauce. Subpar cheese. It's a good place but it isn't a great place. I was visiting Westwood weekly for a month for a project and I went twice. First to check it out and the second to see if maybe I missed something because it felt like I did. I didn't miss anything. I think something is missing from their food.
First I had the fat Sal and it was just kind of too much. The meat was barely present under all the cheese, mayo and gravy.
Next visit I tried the buffalo chicken cheese fries. Again decent but the chicken tasted like cheap tenders from the grocery store and the spice of the buffalo sauce was lost under the oodles of cheese.
Maybe there are better things in the menu but I did not find better things from my visits.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 600305377Feb 4, 2024
WOAH! I recently had Fat Sal's again.. My first time was a very drunk night at the Hollywood location and it didn't taste that good.
I tried their Fat Jaime, and my god, It was DELICIOUS!!! The lime in this sub complemented it very well! The lettuce is cut perfectly thin and still super crisp and refreshing!
Service was great and the staff is super friendly! Price is a little high, but the sub is big enough to split into 2 meals.
Can't wait to try more!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - Mar 17, 2024Updated review5 check-ins
The service at the ordering station is spot on. The screen when ordering makes it clear of what you're ordering. The sandwiches here are bomb. It doesn't matter if it's at lunch or dinner or late night, this is the Westwood gem. Parking is a b**** but the food is worth the drive wherever you are and the damn $5 parking.
Every time I come the seating is empty but the line to order is long but they always have good music playing, obviously connects with the college crowd.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Dec 18, 2011Previous reviewThis has to be the best sandwich place in the world and the best part they have everything here and it's all quality food. I had a craving for their Fat Sal but now I'm ready to try something new. The food is so delicious I have to say that it doesn't matter if hot, cold, or reheated, it is still scrumptious.
Jul 15, 2011Previous reviewAfter a wonderful night with my boyfriend there was nothing better than to go get a scrumptious meal at Fat Sal's! This place should be on Diner's Drive In's and Dives with Guy Fieri on the Food Network Channel! It is THAT good!!!
You don't have to have the munchies or need a hang over meal to enjoy the delicious sandwiches they have. We definitely enjoyed it and I'm looking to go back again.
The only thing that sort of bothered me, being in crutches is the parking and the lack of bathrooms. I couldn't get out of the car and had to go elsewhere to use the restroom but that has to be it. - 2832871654Nov 28, 2023
Came here on the whim after attending a play nearby. Our first intention was going to in n out but then noticed that Fat Sal's is a few doors down so I had to try them out! So glad we did!
We ordered:
Fat Bodega had all the goodness I needed late night . Ground beef, tomatoes , shredded lettuce, cheese, onion rings, sautéed onions, pickles, ketchup, Mayo and fries! So bomb!
Fat Texas was ordered by my nephew . He gave two thumbs up! It was like an appetizer platter all in one . Bbq pastrami brisket, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, crisp bacon, grilled onions, melted cheddar and mozzarella cheese, Mayo, honey bbq and fries!
Philly Cheesesteak Fries we're on point ! Philly cheesesteak, grilled onions, melted cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
Bacon Cheeseburger Fries was just like it sounds, a cheeseburger with fries lol. Cheeseburger, bacon, melted cheddar and mozzarella cheese, shredded lettuce , tomatoes, pickles, onions and fat sauce .
There's outside table seating with umbrellas covers.Helpful 4Thanks 2Love this 5Oh no 0 - 36795223Jan 9, 20242 check-ins
Fat Sal's never disappoints you can close your eyes and order anything from the menu. I usually get the Fat Bodega or the Fat Jerry, but today I decided to chill and just get the Philly Cheese Steak and it was amazing. I ordered online and my order was hot and fresh upon pickup. As you can see in my picture I couldn't wait to take a bite into the cheesy thin cut ribeye sandwich. This location is on UCLA's campus so the environment is fun and friendly.

Haven't been back in Westwood for a while, but I knew I had to revisit Fat Sal's, and it is as good as I remembered it! Got the Fat Jerry and it's got everything you want in a treat yoself sandwich. This sandwich doesn't travel well since it has fries and onion rings in it, so you best eat it and finish it while it's fresh, and that shouldn't be a problem cuz of how good it is!

Went to the wrong location. I meant to go to the one in Hollywood which is much nicer. This area was super crowded and hard to find parking. I ordered a usual the turkey, BLT or club sandwich. It just didn't taste the same lettuce, tomatoes mayo, and turkey just didn't mesh well together. The bread taste stale. I don't know maybe I should've ordered the cheesesteak sub, which I love. I also tried some new, the chili cheese fries. I would say to skip this. It was not what I expected at all. The chili was disgusting and didn't go well with the fries with cheese slapped on.

Fat Texas BBQ 8.17/10- this was actually so good and there's so much food packed in this sandwich. Not a huge fan of BBQ sauce on items, but as I'm not a huge advocate for it this was actually spectacular, and they made it incredibly quick! This is made with pastrami brisket, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, bacon, onions, melted cheddar and mozzarella, fries, mayo, and honey BBQ all on garlic bread. There are so many flavors in this sandwich, which normally is a recipe for disaster but somehow this was actually so delicious and was an explosion of flavor. It's hard to eat as the sandwich is packed, but it is delicious. I felt that the bread could have been softer as it was very crispy, but still good. The brisket was phenomenal and very fresh. I wish it was easier to eat this sandwich and not as messy but it's still good.
Fat Sal's is open till 2 am I believe which makes for great drunk/munchie food as they put so much stuff in their sandwiches. Their menu has a huge selection and even offers fries with all sorts of toppings. Service is pretty quick depending on the line but you can order online to expedite the process of your food being made.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0May 6, 2023Previous reviewBuffalo chicken cheese fries 7.46/10- I liked how the fries were light well/soft but crispy on the outside. I felt that they could have definitely put more cheese on it but lowkey the cheese was like burnt but not in a bad way. They also put a lot of ranch but it was concentrated in one area. However as post cinco de mayo food this was superb. The crispy chicken was also really good, and tender. Food was served hot and for late night food this slapped.
Vegan Buffalo chicken cheese fries 8.13/10- not sure why but this was actually more tasty than the regular Buffalo chicken cheese fries.
Their menu is super extensive and they offer so many options. - Rhea D.New Orleans, LA04Apr 20, 2024
