Another great find thanks to Yelp!

Ventured here this morning -- I was famished and going a little stir crazy being at home, so we loaded up the family truckster and headed to Fat Nat's. I did not disappoint!  While it was packed and there was quite a wait, they turn the tables over quickly, so we were only sans table for about 15 minutes.

Once we sat down, our server immediately brought us much needed coffee and a high chair. We settled in and ordered...husband the french toast and myself the chorizo benedict. The benedict was fabulous...the chorizo had so much flavor and the eggs were exactly the way I love them -- poached and runny.  Our server was so friendly and helpful even though she had a ton of tables. We were served our fod quickly and were able to scarf it down before the little one completely melted down.

We both agreed we'd go back in a second, but probably on a weekday. Ah, the luxuries of working from home...

Good local stop for breakfast!

In my growing quest for a great breakfast place this was this weeks stop. Definitely do not regret it. This is just a good little local place. The food was fresh, the breakfast was good, coffee OK. I think I would need to go back a few times before I could rave about it but I don't have much to complain about either.

When we sat down we were forgotten about despite the glances from at least three waitresses. Now I think this was just an over-site since all the people seated after us were asked about drinks right away and got them just as fast. We sat for 5-10 before we had someone stop and ask for drinks and take our order. Waitress did do a good job though and the service was good other than that.

Two weeks now and two little restaurants with two morning specials of biscuits and gravy. Gotta get it while I can. I wish though that I would have tried something else, not because it was bad but I kept comparing it to last weeks stop at "Our Kitchen" (which is way at the top of my list right now) in Mpls. The gravy was good, biscuits were OK and it came with hash-browns which really weren't needed with such a rich dish. Every bite I kept thinking about the nice fluffy, tasteful biscuits from my past. Next time I will make a change.

Well worth the stop, nice selection and just what I wanted, a no frills, tasty start to the day.

For my money, the best omelets in the Twin Cities.  I have been dining at Nats for four years and have never been disappointed.

The atmosphere is very diner like, nothing fancy at all.  On busy days it gets a bit greasy smelling inside, all part of the ambiance!

Food is excellent and service friendly.  I prefer this location to the more generic feeling Brooklyn Park location.

Yum! We went early on a Sunday morning and were able to get a table easily. Our server was great, very friendly and raved about the food there. She made some suggestions for us as it was our first time and she was spot on. I had the Eggs Nat's Benedict which has chorizo sausage instead of the traditional ham. So yummy! I had hash browns with it which came nice and crispy.
My sister had the huevos rancheros and enjoyed them as well. They had a nice spicy kick. The service and food were excellent. We will definitely go back there again.

-1 star for an overly friendly waiter. He got down on his knees and basically had sex with us (if it were possible to have sex simply by taking our order.) I can still hear his cooing in my head and it's creeping me out.

+1 star for being so close to my work.

+10 billion stars for how good the food was. The huevos rancheros were awesome, even without the meat. EVEN after taking the food to go. They gave me a butt ton of salsa that I ate throughout the weekend. Good stuff.

I hear the coffee isn't great, but who cares? Next time I'm definitely sitting down at the counter to eat. I'm glad that I can stop relying on the Bruegger's next door for breakfast.

Looking for a good breakfast spot in the northern Twin Cities 'burbs, but don't want to settle for the usual Denny's or Perkins? Do I have the place for you...

We discovered Fat Nat's Eggs based on a friend's suggestion a few weeks ago, and have been there twice. We go there Saturday mornings, and the place is usually packed.

Fat Nat's sits in a strip mall just west of Hwy 252 and north of 85th Avenue in Brooklyn Park. This is their second location, recently opened.

If you are expecting atmosphere or "coziness," you've come to the wrong place. Instead, you'll find something reminiscent of a typical small-town cafe: big room, fluorescent lighting and daily specials scribbled on signs tacked on the walls. There is even a counter with stools. Nothin' fancy.

The menu is packed full of traditional breakfast fare, with a number of Mexican-infused dishes, like the ever-popular huevos rancheros. Order it with carnitas and you will not be disappointed. Fat Nat's offers just about any kind of omelette you could hope for.

The pancakes are superb.  Be advised that they are the size of the large plates they're served on. You won't go away hungry.

In all, a much better breakfast than the chain places, and they are a notch better than the overrated Key's.

I love this place so much! The pancakes are as big as your head and completely fabulous & yummy....Other thing I love about this place is that it isn't in Minneapolis, it is in the suburbs very close to my house. I  try to meet my girl friends there once a month. I would recommend getting there before 10am for breakfast on Saturday & Sunday.

I went here this morning with my husband-and he loved it, which is a miracle. He's finicky and stingy with praise for places to eat.  Yesterday's Pioneer Press ran an ad for the ten best dishes in 08, and their Carnita Huevos Rancheros won # 4. (I think...)  My friend Luciana goes there  Saturday mornings, and she recommended the Chorizo Huevos Rancheros or the Chorizo Eggs Benedict.
We wanted to share something, and Tim doesn't eat pork, so the carnitas were out this time.  I always love Eggs Benny, so that's something to try too.  We ended up sharing Emily's Omelet, which was this amazing thing in this little strip mall in New Hope. It had turkey that tasted like it had just been roasted, bacon,  eggs, veggies and this spicy spicy guacamole with lots of cilantro-smeared inside the omelet and dabbed on the top.  We ordered an extra side of the guacamole and they brought us a nice sized bowl for a buck.  The omelet was huge.  We split it and probably left a third on our plate.
We had a side of American Fries which were hot and crisp. Our bad coffee was continually filled up, and the waitress called us kiddo about 15 times. There were all types of people here, and it's a cute little dive that's perfect to hang out and read the paper at. We'll come back for sure.
We got out for fifteen dollars for two of us, without tip. Also the comic book store was a good bonus for Timothy,

This place was a little tough to find and the decor was rather plain, but the servings were huge and the food came fast.  Personally, I think the pancakes had too much vanilla flavoring in it and wasn't as fluffy as I usually like.  The corned beef omelette with Hollandaise sauce was great though while the home fries were also really really good.
