    Awesome mall.
    They have EVERY store.
The Forever 21 is gigantic.. yeeeaah!
The only bad thing is the food court. BAd selection. They have pizza, a greek place, Rubio's, a gross Panda Express, and a hot dog place. All of these places seem really run-down and any food I've ever gotten from here has been BLEH.

Fashion Valley sucks. The only store I still enjoy there is the Disney store.

Which brings me to my 1 star choice.... THE SECURITY!

I was attending Anime Conji, which is a convention that is help at the hotel right next to the mall. Think Comic-Con. People show up in fancy costumes of familiar and not-so-familiar characters. We had just had a gathering of folks in Disney costumes and decided to take a walk over to the Disney store. One of the managers of the store had seen us in the food court the day before and "invited" us to come to their event. There were about 10 of us total. After we left, half of us headed to the food court. There was some line in front of one of their lame stores and a few people asked to take our picture. That's normal for us. ....

So some scary  man came up to ask and started asking us questions. We thought it was some random creeper and tried to brush him off. He later started that he was with the mall security. He acted like we had done something wrong. He should have stated he was with security from the beginning. He finally told us in a very rude tone to "enjoy our meal" and then stormed off.

I regret not reporting this incident.

I could create a timeline of malls in San Diego and their level of coolness.  For more than a decade Fashion Valley has been having its moment.

The best thing about this shopping center is the fact they keep the stores segregated.  Fancy stores like Louis Vuitton and Neiman Marcus to the east, JC Penny and Old Navy to the west.  Nordstrom and Macys hold it down in the middle. The other day I noticed they have let Forever 21 move over to the ritzy side of the mall.  So far, no rioting has taken place.

Really, just the best collection of typical mall stores that you can find in San Diego.  It is the outdoor style that San Diegans love but seems rare in other parts of the US.  Large parking structures which have walk ways from their top levels straight into Fashion Valley so there are few bad parking spots.  The only flaw is the lack of cafes.  There are three places to get coffee; all of them have tremendous lines during busy times.  I always grab some before arriving or else plan for a good wait.

Warning--they have a Lego store.  I blindfold my nephew when walking by.

Well, nice mall. Good for kids,I guess. It is very nice to have a " spiral birdcase"at the food plaza or whatever so the birds don't peck your feet.
NEVER GO TO HOT DOG ON A STICK OVER THERE !!!!!!!!!! They never get your order right, the lemonade is bad,and what is up with those
clown clothes???!!! 1 star for them,4 stars for the mall. I think  you will come here. The nordstrom here is way better than the one at the UTC!
    Forever 21 is very big,too!  Really in fashion! P.S I am eight,remember?

I don't usually write reviews about malls....

BUT DAMN FASHION VALLEY, YOU DO IT UP RIGHT!

Outdoor seating is right out of Home and Garden Magazine, with literally all of the stores I love (high end & Forever Slutty 1)

Movie theater is so-so, I'm not into the whole "under the sea" thing you got going on when you get to the lower level theaters. I get it - but the rest of the mall is just so designer, and you are so.... well, Dress Barn!

They got a good selection of stores here, as they do decent parking. Of the places I usually end up in, Express, Banana, and the Apple Store would be decent incarnations in comparison to other locations in SD. Taking advantage of shopping al fresco is a year round thing in San Diego and FV is just the place to do it.

This mall reminds me of the nicer Westfield malls in the bay.  Makes me feel right at home.  Although this mall is outdoor, which is strange for me.  Seems to be a trend here in SD though.

Kinda like Stanford shopping center or the walnut creek broadway mall of Norcal.

They also have a great restaurant selection and pretty decent food court.

I'd consider this San Diego's "ritziest" mall. I have mixed feelings about Fashion Valley. It's not because I don't like fancy stores; I actually LOVE that I can go to Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Burberry all within walking distance. I guess it's because I've never been a fan of outdoor malls; ugh, most malls in Orange County were structured the exact same way. It just has an "outlet" feel to it, and I know by how I wrote that that's coming off as snobby or elitist. But I guess it has to be outdoors given by how big Fashion Valley is; it is actually one of the biggest malls I've ever been to (and yes, I do know there are much bigger malls out there, but I am a California bumpkin).

Another thing I don't like about this mall is the fact that there are SO many people who go to here. It is a fabulous shopping area, but being around so many different people is tiresome and aggravating. I am an introvert by nature so it's not easy for me to put up with crowds. I do understand I have no control over that, so I don't go here that often...but at the same time, it's one of the very few places that has all the haute couture goodies that I love to gawk at and admire.

The food court is always packed and I never liked the food selection that they have. It's also outdoors. I can almost never find a place to sit down, although I never eat here since the food selection isn't appetizing to me.

The worst thing about this mall is their horrible parking garage. If it is your first time going here or if you don't go to this mall often (like myself), it can be a nightmare to find parking AND find your car when you are about to leave. Plus it doesn't help that some of the customers drive like maniacs and make crazy, drastic turns when they're leaving the place.  Sorry, but I do NOT want to crash into your expensive BMW or Mercedes, thank you very much.

But again, there are some positives...the expensive boutiques mixed with the lower-end stores, good service (I've no complaints with ANY of the Sales Associates...minus JCPenney, but that's a whole different issue *ahem*), and cool customers who love talking about expensive labels with you...for some reason I always end up talking about labels with someone at this mall, I don't know why! :D

This place is GREAT!  It really has stores for everyone's taste, of all prices...both high end stores (Tiff & Co, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, etc etc)  and your regular H&M, Macy's, Forever 21, surf shop type of deal stores.  The best part of this shopping district is that it's OUTDOORS!  Makes shopping so much less claustrophobic and more enjoyable.

Love the mall. I always have, but I like this mall in particular since I live nearby, and it has all the major department stores and tons of tasty restaurants to eat at.
I like this mall because: Forever 21 recently upgraded, and it's now two stories! I rarely shop at bloomingdales or neiman marcus, but you can go around to their skin care counters and get samples of premium skin care products :)  THe nordstorm here is also good.  Love boat sushi, Teavanna, and sephora!

Fashion Valley is such a pretty mall with lots of stores like Foreign Exchange, Gucci, Bloomingdales etc. This mall is outdoors which is a plus on a beautiful day, but this last time I came parking was a nightmare! My last time here definitely showed me that some people are parking-challenged cause so many cars were parked retardedly. Haha. Aside from the crappy parking Fashion Valley is an awesome mall and I can't wait to come again to do some damage!

Also 5 stars cause they have a pinkberry!

Before I die, I want to blow my nose in a Hermes scarf. Having said this, I hate shopping, but Fashion Valley makes it tolerable, and...well hell...even fun...because every time I pass Hermes, I fantasize about clearing my sinuses into a thousand dollar piece of silk. But I will return to this dream shortly...

First of all, SHOPS. There are some lovely shops here. In fact, I even view some of the items in these shops as beautiful art. Examples: Oliver Peoples makes some stunning, well-designed eyewear. I bought a pair of sunglasses here, but loved examining the various styles of the glasses on display. They had a classic retro style of glasses inspired from Gregory Peck's wardrobe in 'To Kill A Mockingbird', and they made a great promotional display to sell the product (see my photo).

    http://www.yelp.com/bi...

They also have some great clothing stores, like Foreign Exchange where you can get stylish cool clothing, and often at good deals. But my favorite store is Restoration Hardware. They have AMAZING furniture inspired by modernity and classic flare. They have some chair and sofas that utilize designs from 1950s aviation...LOVE IT!

Now, returning to the dream of mine on my bucket list, they do indeed have a Hermes. I like to go in here, from time to time, and pronounce it as "her-meeze" just to see if the sales person corrects me for not pronouncing it the correct way with the French accent ('air-mays), LOL. And yes, as I said before, I want to blow my nose into one of those thousand dollar scarfs before I expire. My friend Chloe has a collection of these scarfs, but she wont let me near them.  A girl can dream...

This mall also has a nice movie theatre. The seating is comfortable, and it is located opposite the food court.

And as for the food court, it is a mix of fast food crap, and healthy food. They have a California Pizza Kitchen, which is tasty and healthy.

This is also a great place for people watching. It has a nice mix of rich old MILFS, sexy younger women, and all in all people who care about fashion. Now, mind you, I am by no means a richy rich, but I do care about fashion and I try to look my best when I go out. The shoppers here are easier on the eyes, compared to the sweat pants, Tap Out junk, and wife-beater shirts at Mission Valley. Yuck-o!!!

First off I have to admit that I am giving this a 4 star rating for the entertainment value of the shopping mall as much (if not more) than for the shopping. This is not a place I go to buy the essentials of life (there's no bookstore!!), but you can find deals if you get lucky & keep your eyes open.

Pros: Great people watching (from tourists to high heeled full highly made up fashionistas to dazed shoppers who look like they made a wrong turn coming out of WalMart), decent food court, the occasional great deals, lots of escalators (my son loves them ;), nice to walk though while enjoying the San Diego weather, interesting window displays. Also the BEST Santa!!!!!! He's great & even got my autistic 4yr old to smile in a photo!

Cons: Many of the stores are very expensive/loud/saturated with scent. I can see the loud music in the adult/teen stores but why in kids stores? Do the workers enjoy hearing kids/babies scream? As with all of San Diego's malls, it is open to the sky so less pleasant in very hot or rainy weather. This also makes it less than desirable to hide up in during the zombie Apocalypse.

?????: Valet parking; 5ft tall molting, vibrating turkey in the window of one clothing store (the next window had a feathered shrug that seemed to be made from the feathers from the turkey); space heaters dotted through out the open areas (no where logical, more as if some one forgot where they were supposed to go & just left them scattered in random places).

My final opinion: Go for Santa but not for zombies!

This is where the San Diego elite go to be seen, and to do their shopping. Sadly, you can also find countless perpetrators here that cannot afford to buy a $350 dress shirt, but want to be seen among those that can.

Most if not all the stores are priced out of range for average working people. Store roll call...

Nordstroms, Tiffany's, Bloomingdale's, Neiman Marcus(closed?), Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Coach, Saks Fifth Avenue, Godiva, and that one store that sells handbags made from baby skin...

If you want to get pressured into buying some dead sea salt scrub, timeshares, or an e-cigarette, just visit one of their many kiosks.

The sad thing is that I remember the good old days of Fashion Valley, or "Fashion" as people from Linda Vista called it. They had a Woolworth's that sold pet fish, and feeder mice. Connected to that Woolworth's was a Burger King. They had a Millers Outpost and a Mrs. Field's cookie shop. Most importantly though, Fashion Valley had the best Ice Cream Parlor known to man...Farrell's!

The new Fashion Valley gets smacked around all day by the old Fashion Valley.

By far, the best thing about the current Fashion Valley is when it floods every year (its almost that time of year now). Doesn't it mention this in the Bible somewhere? Let's all pray for a heavy rainy season.

    An outdoor mall! Nice!

Fashion Valley has a ton of stores, It an outside mall in beautiful San Diego so its definitely a must if you're visiting (like I was). They have a respectable number of both high end retail stores as well as common stores. I only went to Gucci (also did a review on them) and Sephora but I walked around enough to get a feel for the entire mall. Gucci was pretty standard... lovely decor, great customer services, and a number of options. I didn't have to order what I went there for (the belt bag) so I was happy. The Sephora on the other hand, was far less impressive. To be honest, I did go there a few days before Christmas so it was run amuck with last minute shoppers. Nevertheless, it seemed a bit messy. Not dirty or disorganized, but just messy. Not as together as most other Sephora's I've been too. Again, I'm sure it was the holidays. Anyway, if you live in San Diego and you haven't been here, you might not want to tell anybody that. If you're touring, put it on your bucket list.

This mall has the high end stores you love. It has plenty of parking in spacious garages, and they even offer affordable car detailing while you're parked.

Ahhhh stay away from parking structures during peak times! Dear god it took us 45 minutes to leave the garage on a Friday evening! Sure they had parking attendants trying to direct traffics but they had to be asleep at the wheel because no one moved. Someone needs to fix this parking issue before people get hurt. It was a sad ending to an otherwise fun shopping day.

Very high-end mall. Too expensive for my taste. Most of the stores are catered to "high-class" crowd, in particular women. The only store I usually shop at is Foot Locker.

Food Court selection is decent. Not too sure about the openess of the food court though. At least the bird population is not as bad as Horton Plaza's food court though.

The mall layout is simple, though parking can be problematic during peak holiday times and weekends.

If you're a tourist visiting San Diego, this is the must shop mall...

This is the cleanest, most trendy, most frequented by locals, central to SD county, and pretty easy to find a close parking spot.

You got the high-end stores (like Burberry or LV) coupled with the lower end (H&M, Old Navy).

It's an outdoor mall, so you can shop and enjoy the normal beautiful weather of San Diego.

Parking can get a little crowded on the weekends, but the parking lots are huge and there's also a big parking structure if you need it. It's an outdoor mall, which is amazing, and the food court is pretty nice too! Be sure to explore both levels of the mall, because both are stocked with amazing stores! So far this is my favorite place to buy decent clothes! You have the chance to choose from a wide range of prices, styles and brands, as the Mall is huge! Also, if you get tired at any time, you can always get something good and affordable to eat. There is plenty of space to park and the parking is partly covered, which it is quite convenient in a rainy day. As it is very spacious even on a crowded day you can have a nice time there. I don't think they advertise that place a lot, so you can not know whether there are sales or not, and if you live a bit far you would have to drive down there without a certainty about it. But overall, is always worth it!

Lots of great stores but it was way too busy and there was no parking! Maybe because it was two weeks before xmas when we went but the stores were so packed I couldn't breathe. It took at least a half hour to park so they definitely need more parking, but they certainly did have a lot of stores. We left without buying anything because it was so crazy in there but I look forward to going back after the xmas bustle dies down. I'll reevaluate my review then.

Best mall in San Diego. Hands down. Has all the high-end and the regular stores. If I'm ever looking for a mall with a lot of selection I come here first. I would just like them to add an Urban... then this mall would be complete! They do have J.Crew which is a big plus. Very touristy but for a good reason. It also has a movie theater which is nice. Parking at a major mall like this is nightmare-ish but it beats Horton which is why i'm not downgrading this mall to 4 stars.

Having spent 8 years in La Jolla for schooling, Fashion Valley is where I go for a change of scene whenever I get tired of UTC. Although it's not super far from where I lived, I always hesitated going to Fashion Valley because whenever I do have the time to go, it's rush hour and it takes forever to get down there, let alone find a parking space!

I really love this mall because it has a variety of stores that range from high-end/boutique shopping to the normal/everyday stores. They have a standard food court in addition to other restaurants. Some of the negatives, however, include the horribly-designed parking lots and the traffic on weekends (and rush hour on weekdays).

In my opinion, it is by far one of the best malls overall in the greater San Diego area (I would say another comparable one is the North County Westfield in Escondido).

This place has it all.  There's high end to mid end stores.  They're also remodeling, so there should be more to offer.  I love that its outdoors, so its nice to get some vitamin D.

Also, they've got a Microsoft Store here!  It's super cool and looks very high tech.  Way to give Apple a run for its money!

    Good High Ends Shops!

We were looking for a mall with high end shops to look around at and this mall was suggested to us.   This mall had Nordstroms, Bloomingdales, Nieman Marcus and a large Macy's.  You know if a mall is a large enough when it will have a Tiffany's.

I like the outdoor layout with two floors.  It must suck though when it rains.

Parking and the flow of traffic was very good.  Nothing to complain about.  As for the location, it seemed centrally located.  Its just a few minutes from downtown and is close enough to most of the suburbs area.

The only thing I noticed that would be negatives is the size of the mall.  Not quite a large mall.  Also that it is an outdoor mall.  Must be tough when it does rain.  Even though it is in sunny SD, it does rain!  So what happens to this mall when it rains?

Anyways... I am glad we were referred to this mall.  It totally killed time and we were happy with the stores that were there.

I had the new "veggie burger meal" - burger, frys, soda for $7.85 + tax.  What I did not like is deceptive advertising.  A sign on the counter was ambiguous as it appeared to me to cost the meal deal cost $4.50.  I think the price was for the kids meal.  Anyways, I felt $8.50 was too high for this meal.  I think it would be a better deal at $6.25 + tx.  Veggie burger was pretty good and steak frys were great - and very hot.

parking is stupid here, almost impossible.
The mall itself is great. They have all the great stores and there was a great crowd.

This is my go-to mall for any fashion related. They have the best selection of stores under one roof. Well, the mall is outdoors so there isn't any roof... But you get my drift.

Make sure you bring some money all your favorite luxury brands from Louis Vuitton and Gucci are here... But if that's not your style your can check out the variety of department stores; Macys, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and even JC Penny :).

Besides the basic foot court, their are couple decent restaurants, including a Loveboat Sushi restaurant, Cheesecake Factory, PF Changs, etc. Make sure to make reservations because these places tend to be packed during dinner time.

The mall is currently being renovated and it's looking really nice. It can get really busy during the weekends since it's a tourist location but it isn't bad during the week.

So if you're looking for that new outfit  this is the place to go!
