Thanks, Jaye --

If you had asked me months ago to list the easiest and most pleasant things about being pregnant, shopping for nursing bras would not have even made the cut.  You've proven me wrong.

Jaye was able to fit me for four different awesome bras for much less money than I feared, on busy Christmas Eve afternoon.  I highly recommend her!

Solid place and a good resource for new moms or for moms with a new baby! An Alameda mom recommended this place to me and I made a 20-minute trek out there to check it out.
This place has a LOT of nursing bras. They're not cheap but not super expensive. I guess I would say they are a bit on the higher end. I admit, I deal with nursing bras from Target because they're cheaper. (And yes, you do get what you pay for but, to me, the Target bras aren't that bad.)
As some others have mentioned, they have a limited selection of nursing tops and maternity clothes. I did find two nursing tank tops that I liked that cost around $24 each. (And then I found similar but probably not-as-good-of-quality tank tops for $17/each at Target. Go figure.)
They also have second hand stuff for reasonable prices. I was lucky enough to have a very cool sister-in-law who gave me her Medela pump. But if you're not so fortunate, this place has second hand ones that, I believe, they refurbish and sell at a decent price.
The biggest plus about this place is that the owner is VERY NICE and provides excellent customer service!! She greeted us as soon as we walked in the door and answered all my questions. I noticed she was equally as nice to all the other customers that entered her shop.
It's a bit out of the way for me but I'll definitely return when I'm in the area.

I came here looking for maternity clothes and was hoping for a decent selection, based on the many positive reviews.  Unfortunately, this was not the case.  I flipped through all the racks of clothes but nothing jumped out at me.  It's possible I might have missed a gem but nothing there inspired me to stay very long, especially given the cluttered feeling of the place.

The prices were very reasonable (many items under $20 and $10) but even the low prices couldn't tempt me to purchase a single item.  Also, there were several employees near the counter but not a single one said a word to me, much less offered help.  Disappointing.

I had a great experience here. Found some nice treasures and got great help from Jaye. There is a lot of older items as far as maternity clothes, but found some great childrens clothes and items. Had an awesome bra fitting which was really helpful with sizing and the staff made sure I was nice and warm with the space heaters and really catered to my comfort and lifestyle needs.

I went here yesterday. I am 5 months pregnant and it was about time that I bought some maternity wear. I made the unfortunate mistake of going to Pea in a Pod and spent close to $200 on 3 items. So got on yelp, found this place and decided to trek over to Alameda. It was totally worth it. The woman who owns it was super helpful and sweet. She helped me pick out my 1st nursing bra. I ended up walking out with a comfortable nursing bra (which I intend to buy more of soon), 2 pairs of jeans ( much needed), a skirt, and a couple of tops, all for under $100. I will continue to shop here for all my needs as far as maternity wear goes and even for some of the essential baby items. Go here- you won't be disappointed.

Excellent customer service as compared to the "other" re-sale shop on the island.  The merchandising, and overall aesthetics of the store is not boutique quality, but the customer service makes up for it.  Great selection of nursing bras.  Did I mention the customer service here is stellar?  If anything, go here to get a nursing bra.  You won't be disappointed.

went here for a maternity bra, and was very impressed by the selection and service. the staff kindly helped me to find just the right bra for my little frame. Noticed their clothing seemed a bit dated, but will definitely go back to explore some more.

I went there on Sat around 4:30pm.  This place has everything I need, maternity clothes, baby clothes, baby toys, car seat, stroller etc.  People are very nice and friendly.  Maternity clothes are all divided by the size and easy to find.  I have to go back again soon.

I got here at 4:35pm on a Saturday night and the place closes at 5pm.  Jay stayed until 6:30pm, told me I could try on as many clothes as I wanted, and was so incredibly helpful and made me feel great!  I bought 3 bras and 7 tops for $103.11 and the tops are very flattering and feminine.

At Pea in the Pod, I cried in the changing room while the perky high schooler told my friend that my boobs were too big and that's why I had a hard time finding anything.  At Fashion After Passion, the clothes looked lovely on me and I rejoiced as I put one top after another in the "yes" pile.

Jay was really kind and helped me with each bra, which is what I needed.  She listened to what I wanted and went about finding bras to work for me.

It was really a great shopping experience!  The clothes there also work for after baby, as there are items that can be worn as a pregnant woman, but also as a non-pregnant woman.  I'm definitely going there again.

Just got back from FAP and though I was a bit skeptical about how awesome the owner, Jay (sp?)  would be, I am thoroughly impressed. I walked in a little bit after 3p and was greeted by Jay with a great smile. I immediately found one item I've been looking for at other second-hand baby places - a New Native sling. What's even more awesome is that it was an organic cotton version at half the retail price!

I told Jay I was looking for some nursing bras and she immediately launched into a description of all choices she had in stock for new and used bras. She gave me a great lay of the land so I could figure out what I wanted with my choices. Jay didn't make me feel bad at all when I said to her that certain bras were out of my price range. In the end I decided to buy 2 soft-cup nursing bras and 2 sleeper nursing bras. After a brief convo about finding an appropriate bra to get back into running, I decided to come back after my birth to get fitted for a jog bra. She is definitely the nursing bra expert!

After spending about 30 minutes getting fitted, I continued browsing around the store for other things. I noticed that her huge stock of clothing was a bit dated (for more of the frumpy, older mom?). She also had a lot of bags that had not been prepared for sale yet. Though one good thing was that I noticed that she had a section of comfy pajama wear that I hadn't seen at the 2 other baby consignment places I'd been to.

She had a lot of new items if you can't find what you're looking for used. Her stock of blankets, bibs, clothing, shoes, and even diaper covers was really great.

In addition to the bras and the sling, I came away with 2 baby mitts, a binky leash, and even a CD with baby sounds to help my doggie get used to hearing baby sounds! Total damage after tax: $94 only

In comparison, to the two other baby consignment places I've been to (the Lovely Bump and Too Cute) the Lovely Bump got 4 stars for having great selection and inventory but not the kind of bra selection and customer service that Joy offers. Too Cute got 3 stars for the lack of inventory and selection (unless you are looking for clothes). I think what would make FAP perfect would be to have more up to date maternity clothes and a bit more organization and display. Perhaps FAP is outgrowing its current space and needs to move into some place larger?

FAP is definitely worth the visit if you are looking for pregnancy/nursing bras, baby clothes and other accouterments. I wouldn't recommend this place for trendy maternity clothes. It's a bit out of the way in Alameda so allocate plenty of time to get there and find street parking. There's not much else to walk around and look on this street but FAP is definitely worth the visit! I guarantee you won't leave without buying something.

These reviews do not lie.  I drove from Berkeley to Alameda to check out nursing bras.  Claire was about 4 days old and I realized that the Target tanks just weren't going to cut it.  Jaye saved me.  I tried on several based on her recommendations and they were great.  Even my husband was comfortable here... and that's saying a lot for an Army soldier in a maternity/nursing shop.

What a nice woman this owner is! I love her. I have sold lots of stuff to her over the past two days. She does everything for trade only, but is very fair. She has a great selection of nursing and baby items. I like having a credit here so I can go back and visit her and shop. I also bought nursing bras here when I was 35 weeks pregnant (I gave birth at 36 weeks). I feel that shopping for bras is about as pleasant as getting a root canal, especially when pregnant) but Jaye made it fun. She has a huge selection of nursing bras and sizes, and is very knowledgeable. She has a rocking chair you can nurse if in. She and her assistant are very nice people. I will come here from now on before that other kid's store in town. What a difference in customer service! Like night and day! Very professional, very friendly.

Jaye (the owner) is THE BEST nursing bra fitter in the world.  (She could also probably do a great job fitting people for any other bras, but that's not the business she's in)  She also kept 'me' on file, so I didn't have to remember what I got last time when I wanted a new bra... BUT once I came back during my second pregnancy,  she didn't let me just grab another bra and go, since it had been a while she re-fit me (and sure enough, I was not the same size... alas)  Oh - and although this is a consignment shop, the bras are all new!

A few other notes: This will be the place to get your maternity pantyhose... she even has white for the wedding ;)

I found her prices on children's consignment clothing to be a lot better than Lauren's Closet (just as an example for comparison).  I also think she and her staff are friendlier and more personable than Lauren's Closet.  She keeps great records on whatever credit you may have coming from trading stuff in.

My husband and I always had a blast wandering around her store on Webster.  I have not yet gotten over to see the new shop on Lincoln, but I'm sure it will be great... very likely packed with lots of good stuff - but Jaye and her staff will know just where to find whatever you need.

Updated 2 May 2007 - I went by the new location on Lincoln last week... what a great improvement!  Lovely windows, much quieter than Webster, easier parking (no meters!) and Jaye herself says she's much happier, so she won't be retiring soon:)  YAY!

It's actually a smaller space, so she has fewer kids clothes (she's just going to have younger stuff, the older kids clothes will be on the sale racks while they last) but I think the organization and layout are big improvements... my kids are growing too fast though!

What a welcome relief to find a resell place other than Lauren's Closet (you know, the one with the VERY snotty owner....I agree with all the reviews for that place).

Jaye the owner of Fashion is super friendly.  I've known about it for a week and I've already purchased a car seat and pak n play, both of which seemed fairly priced and in clean/good condition.  I haven't meandered through the clothes yet but will definitely be headed there.  I'm also excited to know about it before my second pregnancy to get my bras there.

Totally agree with other Yelpers that Jaye is SUPER helpful with getting the right fit for nursing bras.  Her place is small and jam packed with all things baby/maternity AND there is only has one full dressing room right now -- but  she didn't bat an eyelash or rush me to finish when other folks who were shopping were ready to try things on while I was still wrapping up.  Other big plus: she seriously stocks almost 8000 bras -- so I had a lot of choice to go along with her great guidance.

Thank lordy for this place!
It's just about that time, and I needed to buy some nursing bras. I'v heard this is the place to buy them, especially if you are not a standard size (such as petite little back with huge coconuts in front). I lucked out because my 9th month coincided with their bra sale; over 3000 bras on sale for 20% off. Jay, the owner, was a real pro. I can smell someone who doesn't know what they're talking about when it comes to brassieres a mile away (Victoria Secret fitters are a joke), yet with Jay I felt instant confidence in her expertise. I left there with one soft and two wire nurssing bras, four pj/nightgown nursing sets,  a cute out-and-about nursing shirt, and reusable nursing pads for just over $200. Nordstrom's (the only other place I know that carries my size in-store without special ordering) would have cost twice as much. There were plenty of other cute consignment iteams, both maternity and baby, and it all seemed to be a good price. FYI, tons of baby carriers, such as quality used baby bjourns for under 40 bucks. I will definitely be coming back here in the future.

THE place for nursing bras!  The owner gave me so much attention and made me feel confident about purchasing my first nursing bras.  I left with 2 nursing sleep bras and a regular day nursing bra for a total of $30!!  She gave me a variety of bras to try on and made me feel so good about being pregnant.  I fitted bras for 30 minutes and had to leave for an appointment, but I will DEFINITELY be a regular at this store!

***IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS, this store has moved to Lincoln in Alameda!!!  Call their number for the new address!***

I had the best bra fitting of my LIFE here -- and it was a nursing bra!!  The woman who helped me was hilarious, sweet, honest, and super helpful.  First I was "interviewed"  -- how many kids do you have, boy or girl, how old is the baby, what do you want the bra to do, when was the last time you fed the baby today... wow!  They have a huuuuuuuuge selection of nursing bras and I found two that I thought would work for me.  I'M IN LOVE!!  The person assisting me had a slight reservation about one of the bras, but I had to have it (black!!) and turns out -- her instinct was right, I shouldn't have bought it.  I had such a wonderful experience here, I wish I lived closer so I could support their store more often.

An excellent resource!  I don't know how I would have filled my closet with maternity clothes without this place.  I bought a cute Olan top that retails for $80 at Nordstrom for $8.  Now that's a deal!  And the owner is friendly and kind, and her customers obviously love her.  She is always answering questions or chatting with someone when I come in.  I am looking forward to buying baby stuff here too.  I love the fact that I come away with great stuff for a great price, and I support a local business owner at the same time.  yay!

Great store for used maternity items and baby clothes. Saved a lot of money on sleepgowns/sacks and some really cute toys for the baby-to-be.  We also got some diaper covers.  They also do some great bra fitting, and they bras are decently priced as well.  They've got nursing gowns, maternity pants and shirts and tons of other baby items.  The store gets a wee bit warm.  Whew!  but I survived.  The people that work there are super-sweet.  They got really excited about my husband getting so excited about the toys.  It was really cute.  :)

I am 37 weeks pregnant with my first baby, and didn't even start thinking about nursing bras until just recently. Our labor and delivery class teacher had recommended F.A.P for bras, but I thought I would try another maternity store that is closer to my house to see about their selections. Well, the little sales girl was friendly, but she had no idea about how the bras should fit, which was disappointing. I decided to jaunt down to Alameda to see what the fuss was about, and upon entering the store, I was warmly greeted by a woman named Ellen. After listening to my one bra shopping experience, she started to ask all the right questions, my bra size pre-pregnancy and now, types of bras I prefer (underwire or soft cups), and added her own recommendations based on what size I will be once the milk comes in. She picked out 7 bras for me to try on, explained how to use them, pros and cons of each. She even checked to make sure all of the bras fit well on me, and explained to me that the bras should accommodate a size increase for when the milk comes in, by showing me how to check for room.  I bought 3 bras, all so very comfy, and very different styles (front snap, top snap, deep V). I also bought a gorgeous used Eddie Bauer diaper bag that they had for $14 dollars (on sale for 40% off)!!! Ellen was truly helpful and professional and warm. I am so glad I found out about them, as I probably would have wasted money on bras that doesn't fit properly.

The new sunlit location on Lincoln is a positive change.  Fashion After Passion is a consignment shop that carries everything for baby's first year, from strollers to diapers to clothing.  The prices on used items are very good.  The selection of nursing bras is huge--you will leave comfortable!  The staff is amazingly friendly.  I wish they still had room to carry the big kids' clothes!

Still--this is absolutely the place to look for buried treasure.  I bought my friend a gorgeous, never-used fancy shimmery diaper bag for less than half of retail--there's something good every time I walk in.

This place certainly has a lot of useful stuff for moms.   Its pretty much packed to the gills so it can be a little hard to navigate but you could probably find just about anything you needed. The quality really varies.  I have seen some great quality stuff there and plenty of junky stuff too.  The prices are pretty reasonable, though I've seen better prices at other second hand stores.  The staff is very friendly and helpful.

I had to buy a suit for a business trip, and didn't really want to spend much for something I would wear all but 3-4 times.  This store was the perfect place for me.  I spent 18 dollars on a suit that fit like a glove, and 10 more on a pair of jeans!  For a small-ish store, there are a lot of great things, and you don't have to pay even consignment prices for them.  I dock one star because they only had one dressing room and the woman ahead of me took awhile. :(
