Their prices are a bit high, but I try to give this place as much business as I can. I am a gardening idiot, so I like that the staff is usually knowledgeable about everything they sell, and can help me find plants that work for my property.

I long for the days when I have a house that has a backyard with a garden. Sigh.

For now I have to make due with a vertical planter on my back porch.

Farmer's Market is worth the trip. They have a good selection (tons of flowers, a decent variety of vegetable plants) and knowledgeable staff.

Great Business, wonderful and helpful staff, affordable prices, and an overall great experience.  To have people that can actually name the plants, talk to you about whether you are planting them in the right area, and help you plan your landscaping is just awesome.  i frequent them every year in the Spring and ask a million questions... they are happy to help!  Overall fantastic!

This place is, indeed, pretty excellent. Not only are the staff extremely plant-savvy, they are also nice. I've been going there for several years now. This year, we solicited their help in choosing soil for some raised vegetable beds that will comprise our kitchen garden. Their math was perfect! We're also happy with the river birch we purchased from them several years ago, which is thriving in our yard.

When I bought a house - with a yard - in Albany Park 5 years ago, I spent a year preparing for landscaping.

I went to the Farmer's Market and met Jack, telling him about my vision of what I wanted to do with my yard.  At the time I had no experience with yad work or landscaping and he had an ear to listen to what I wanted.

We scheduled a time for him to come to my house and see the pallette that I was working with as I told him my ideas.  Jack was happy to draw up some plans, brought me back to his shop and showed me an array of plants and shrubs for me to choose from.

Since then, they have become my preferred and exclusive place to buy plants, trees and shrubs.  Jack and his brother Paul are always happy to walk their grounds and discuss what would be best for me and my yard while being flexible on pricing as well.

FMGC is a family run business and their service and attention to detail is exactly what you want when you are shopping.  I only wish that I could shop there year round.

Yes, they do Christmas trees and pumpkins but - come spring - they truly shine.

I only wish they had more parking spaces for this ever-growing neighborhood.

LOVE these guys. Last time I was here, they actually took the time to show me a photo album of one of the guy's mom's garden, so I could see how a particular vine grew.

I especially like coming here to see what they are selling during Christmas and Halloween.  You can buy potting soil, plants, garden accessories and lawn decorations.  The man who runs this place is like a cross between a dude in Phish and one of the Beatles!  He has the coolest rock posters inside and a gorgeous aquarium.  I picked up a couple house plants here recently, but most of the items are for your outdoor lawn and garden.

Now selling pumpkins, and decorations for Oct.31 this store I believe is seasonal. A few other times I have driven by and it looked closed. They also sell lawn ornaments and gardening supplies.
