Arcadia, CA
I commend this hotel's take on a different theme... FARM!!! Ironically located across the street from The Grove where all the busy-ness happens!! From the outside, this place does not look like it has a lot to offer. The second you go inside, you kind of forget you are in LA! The theme is perefectly shown throughout the hotel! Farm animals, picket fences, sheep, pigs (statues of course and not the real thing!) surrounds this place! The rooms are very clean and provides enough space for anyone that stays there.
Some interesting differences are:
- Wooden floors
- Denim comforters
- Pictures of farm animals
- Old school rocking sofa/chair
- Wooden chairs
The staff is amazing!! They were super accommodating!!! The staff was a combo of young and old. They wanted to make sure our stay was as comfortable as possible!!!
Thanks Jeff B. for accommodating our group!!! -

From the outside, this Hotel looks super cute and really fun. Once you get passed the lobby, however, it's pretty boring and standard. Truth be told, I really wanted to stay in the "No-Tell Room", but they were all booked.
The location is fantastic, and I thought the price was fair. My girlfriend and I stayed here on New Year's Eve, and found it to be centrally located to where we were going. It was nice to wake up in the morning and slide right over to Tart for brunch.
I really wanted this hotel to offer a little more, but they just kinda came up short. I would stay here again, but I'm just not that jazzed on it. -

Truth, I fell in love in this place so my review is totally tainted.
I've been here about four times and a couple times I got a suite with a mirror on the ceiling, that's a kink factor! The motif is farm like naturally and some of the rooms are small but I didn't care at all.
The Farmer's Daughter Hotel is a great location near the Grove and has a great charm to it. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is filling. I wanted to go in the pool but it never quite got warm enough for real swimmin' so my dip was in and out. Got a laugh from the staff and others.
This is the sort of hotel that makes me wish I was a girl so i could cream over the adorableness of it.
I'll be back. -

WOW!
From the moment we walked in until the sad drive out of the valet lot, this place was exceptional! Such a refreshing feel in the middle of an gray urban jungle. From the warm cookies and lemonade in the lobby to the comfortable beds and well decorated rooms this place was first class. The location was perfect for our trip and the staff was awesome. The bar and restaurant staff was more that attentive to whatever we needed and the prices are on par with the rest of the area. If you are looking for something out of the ordinary, you won't be disappointed. -

We stayed here after my company holiday party and the hotel is extremely cute. We really liked the whole 'farmer' theme and how it translated to our hotel room with yellow plaid wallpaper, blue jean blankets, a rocking chair and gray-stained 'plank wooden floors' the room was extremely charming.
Though we enjoyed the decor, the bathroom was extremely small and the tub was finished in one of those cheesy plastic molds, which really took away from the whole boutique, charm feel of the hotel.
The good news is that we didn't pay for the hotel room (it was part of our company holiday party) and the hotel is directly across the street from the Farmers Market & Grove, so a great location.
However, if given the choice to stay here and pay using my own money, I think I'd reserve a room elsewhere. -

LOVE! ADORE! We were welcomed like old friends when we stayed at Farmer's Daughter for the first time. From the friendly faces at the front, to the country feel decor, to the charming rooms, we felt right at home here.
The location is across from CBS Studios and less than a 5 minute walk from The Grove. We could even see the Hollywood sign from our hotel window!! We were within walking distance to LACMA, the Tar Pits museum, and the Automotive museum. The customer service at Farmer's Daughter is outstanding - everyone went above and beyond and made us feel so special.
We'll be back for another visit soon and we'll continue telling all our friends about this brilliant little hotel. -
Review from Karen C.
I am a sucker for country-kitsch, and the Farmer's Daughter did not disappoint.
Stayed here over the weekend and had a great experience. It's not some swanky, ritzy hotel, but it got the job done and was cute doing it. Everyone I dealt with was friendly and accommodating, the location can't be beat, and the decor is right up my alley.
Some highlights : complimentary wi-fi, in-room refrigerator, very clean rooms, yummy smelling & quality bath products, great water pressure, an alarm clock that charges/allows you to use your iPod/iPhone (this is surprisingly important to me... the last few hotels I've stayed at had the hardest-to-operate alarm clocks, so this was great!), and WOW is it close to the Farmer's Market, The Grove & CBS Studios.
Some lowlights: hard-as-a-rock beds (I realize I prefer my mattress to feel like a cloud, but these are the hardest mattresses I've ever slept on!), a not-so-great view depending on the room you're in, and it's a little pricey for my pocketbook (granted, I'm cheap when it comes to hotels) but I even had a media rate and it was still $$$. Also, while I love the look of the place and the idea that it is a cute renovated motel, some things are still so motel-ish... awkward bathroom doors, sloppy paint jobs, etc., but I admit being a design snob so that's just a personal pet peeve.
All that being said, I'd definitely stay here again. It's a great option in a perfect location, and it's adorable to boot! -

I love the decor of this place! It's like nothing that I've been at before.
PROS:
Free lemonade and HOMEMADE bbq chips in the lounge!
Close to Fairfax Shops (like The Hundreds and Diamond Supply Co.) and the other fancy schmancy shopping center
Restaurant outside
Really friendly staff
Room comes with everything you need as far as plates and utensils if you want to cook for yourself
CONS:
The roll out bed was wiggidy, wiggidy wack. Felt like something bought at K-Mart
The staff was really cool! I just loved the country feel and decor! It's a complete different feeling than being in a huge hotel; I liked it! If they just upped the bed/futon in the living room to something more comfy, I would have given this place 5 stars! -

What a charming boutique hotel; I really enjoyed my stay here!
Cute rooms with eclectic farm decorations (I've never wanted a rooster coat hook more), plate of soft chocolate chip cookies and yummy pink lemonade at the check-in desk are an added bonus. Staff was pleasant and helpful, room was clean and spacious. I'd definitely recommend as it seemed like a nice area...convenient as well. I didn't do much shopping but there was a big shopping area nearby with some fun stores. I'd recommend and would certainly stay here again without hesitation. -

We stayed here this past weekend. I'd first like to say that I got a good deal on Priceline for this hotel and probably would not have stayed here for full price.
The hotel itself is a little dated, the rooms could be a bit nicer, the valet is pretty slow and WOW the housekeeping staff is freakin' LOUD in the morning! BUT the lobby scores points for cookies and lemonade, the hotel offers high quality bath products (even though the water never got hot), the sheets are soft and the hotel front desk staff is friendly. The location is also very good since it's within walking distance from The Grove/Farmer's Market.
IF you stay here I highly recommend having breakfast at TART. I had the breakfast biscuit and found it to be both delicious and affordable ($6.95 plus 15% discount from the hotel) -
Review from Mark D.
There are a lot of ways for a hotel to score highly. For instance, you can do it with sheer luxury (ie Park Hyatt-Seoul Korea).
It can also be achieved with creativity and service. This is the route that Farmer's Daughter takes. For a recent business trip, it was recommended to me.
With the exception of the basic architecture, it is difficult to believe that this place was once one of those all-American icons, the standard roadside motel.
It has been completely overhauled with their "country-chic" theme. It is everywhere from custom elevator doors, placards, room decorations to the myriad of farm animal statuettes. You can not escape it. This may sound like an overdose of kitsch but it all comes together quite well. It is just a cool place to stay.
There are specialty suites. But I stayed in one of their basic king rooms. It was a nice sized room done up in all the country glory one could imagine. The bed was comfortable. It even had a denim coverlet. The room had a nice sized flat-screen TV. I did not turn it on so I do not know how many channels they have. The washroom was nice. The room was spotless. Sticking to it's motel roots, there is a wall attached air-conditioner that worked quite well.
http://tinyurl.com/3vw...
The room does not have a mini-bar but there is a refrigerator.
Just outside of my room, there was a cool little area for sitting and hanging out. On a summer evening, it would be a great spot to sit and share some drinks.
http://tinyurl.com/43d...
The hotel has a nice pool area. The pool is not very large but the area is set up well.
The service was impeccable. Everyone was very friendly and professional. When you check in, they even offer lemonade and cookies. One negative is that it does not appear that they have room-service. This is somewhat off-set by the attached restaurant, Tart. It is not your typical hotel restaurant. It has a beautiful patio and also carries some of the country theme.
I know this is not your typical five star hotel but I am going to give them five stars anyway. I just enjoyed it that much. It is simply amazing that this was once just a motel. -

El Cajon, CA
The hotel is totally kitchy and cute, the staff is sweet and attentive and the breakfast at the restaurant Tart is tasty. The staff is dressed in denim and red checkered shirts. There was a plate of cookies and a jug of lemonade in the lobby. They've got two parakeets in a cage as well!
We booked the rate that include valet parking and breakfast. I *loved* everything about this hotel (re-vamped) motel EXCEPT the beds.
We stayed here on the last night of our 17 night, 11 hotel road trip. The beds in this hotel were *BY FAR* the least comfortable. The beds were hard and lumpy. They were noisy! When ever you turned over there was a loud crunching noise like someone was walking on styrofoam packing peanuts. Also the bed was not against the wall, so I had to shove a pillow down behind the bed to keep the pillow that I was using from sneaking away from me. There was no light/lamp that I could reach while laying in bed. I had to get out from under the covers to turn the light off at bedtime.
We were in room 109. Perhaps the other beds are better.
This was the priciest hotel on our trip at $235/night (valet + b'fast incl). I really, really want to give this hotel more than 3 stars, but I just can't with the horrid beds. -

This property is a lot of fun - a remodeled old school motor lodge transformed by an inordinate amount of country kitsch. And I don't mean high brow country... oh no. This place does its decor deliberately and with great aplomb. There's sexy blues juxtaposed against bright yellows, denim duvet covers and a bevy of farming implements adorning the exterior of the building.
Parking is free and the location is pretty great. If you are doing anything at CBS, you only have to cross the street. The Grove and The Farmers' Market are also a stone's throw away. Canter's is also nearby and open 24 hours a day. Mmm, matzoh ball soup any time your belly craves it!
I didn't notice a lot of noise but that drove me nutty was the lack of black-out curtains. When that sun came up, the room was bathed in natural light and I was awake. Grr. Other than that, I'd return here if I were in L.A. again... which judging by the neverending winter we've been having, should be soon! -

My mom and I flew into LA to visit my brother and see some sights. I researched hotel options ahead of time - and while there were both pros and cons for this hotel, I liked the idea of the boutique hotel vs a big chain and the location was outstanding.
Cons: (1) The wireless internet connection was terrible. I eventually just switched the wi-fi off on my iPad and used my 3G. (2) Room service didn't tend to make it around to our room until very late in the day - which is fine for the days were out and about, but one day we returned to the room after lunch to just relax, and realized it hadn't been cleaned yet so felt like we needed to leave again, so they could get to it. However, we didn't bring it to the front desk's attn, so if this is something that was a big deal to you, I'm sure they could accommodate. (3) I was not a fan of having to valet park every time we were in/out. I knew about this ahead of time, but having to pay to valet + tip every time you get your car isn't ideal. Plus, the attendant would sometimes be MIA and we would have to wait awhile, then wander around the lot, looking for him.
Pros: EVERYTHING ELSE. :) Besides those minor complaints, it was a great place to stay. The location is perfect - right across the street from The Grove and The Farmer's Market. The rooms were adorable and cozy. Some people mentioned in reviews the noise levels -- yes, you can hear a lot of exterior noise, but nothing that was so much it kept me awake, by any means. The staff was super friendly. There is a great little outdoor patio btwn the lobby and restaurant (Tart) that we enjoyed sitting in while sipping our Starbucks in the morning (oh yes, Starbucks across the street!). I also enjoyed the caramels left on our pillows and the parakeets in the lobby - nice added touches. Just all in all, a great stay. -

When I need a theme look for my new photo shoot, complete with a kitchen and a fun atmosphere- I chose two hotels. one of them was the Farmers daughter. It's so adorable and everything is blue and farm themed. Absolutely perfect and the photos came out perfect. :)
The staff was pretty nice. -

The area is great. Walking distance from the Grove and Farmer's Market. The area is bustling with activity. So down to the review.
Pros (review specific to the "No Tell Room":
- Room is located in the corner so there's more privacy
- Copper counter with mirror above the bed (a HUGE FUN plus!) secured
by copper finishings
- Bed is hypoallergenic
- Lighting is great outside, especially the bar, restaurant, pool lobby area
- it's different! The decor is great, it's not overly done with the farm theme
- If you like to mix your own drinks, there's a wet bar in this room
-
Cons:
- Good golly, parking is valet only and it's $18/night
- Walls are so thin I'm surprised they're not see through. We were on
the first floor and we can hear people's foot steps, "where John is
headed tonight", "How Amanda is enjoying L.A. because she's from
Seattle" and when the person above you decides to take a midnight
trip to the toilet to take a piss.
- We had a lot of luggage, used the carrier but were's the bellboy? We
rolled our own luggage through hall, across the lobby, across the
restaurant, across the other parking to our room.
Anyway, it's a cute boutique hotel! Will I stay here again...yes, I'd rather stay here than The Standard actually. -

Austin, TX
Came here from Austin for a few nights for a wedding in West LA.
Two highlights are the location and the staff.
Staff - some of the nicest and most helpful people I have ever encountered at a hotel.
Location - FANTASTIC! Particularly if you don't want to rent a car, you can amuse yourself quite well in this very central location. Across the street, you have the Grove and the Farmers Market where you have choices of about a gazillion things to eat and shop for. Du-pars is a historic 24 hour coffee shop that appeals to everyone, even my elderly parents who were quite content at the Farmer's daughter, particularly with being able to stroll over to Dupars for a nice pancake breakfast.
Beds were super comfortable. Everything worked. It was quiet and super clean. An easy cab gets you downtown or the westside. For the price, you can't beat it. But most of all, very fun and easy location, which is pretty hard to find in a hotel of this price range in Los Angeles.Comment from Peter p. of Farmer's Daughter Hotel 8/30/2010

This was the perfect location for a hotel near an event I was attending in the area. Drive slowly on Fairfax or you will miss this hotel entirely. Upon arrival you must give up your ride to the valet ($17 a night). If you're looking for a ritzy plush hotel, this is not your best bet. Quirky and quaint, this is a cute place. Birds were chirping in the lobby and cute t-shirts for sale for both "Chicks" and "Roosters". The lobby is welcoming and the staff is extremely helpful. She had a cab ready for me in less than 5 minutes. From the lobby you can enter TART restaurant which is rated high here on Yelp.
My room was on the 3rd floor and had a nice view of the downtown skyline. Unfortunately, the set-up of the hotel lends itself to hearing every conversation spoken above a whisper. This morning I wish I could hear roosters crowing instead of tourists contemplating where to go for breakfast. The room is well maintained but I didn't use a lot of the amenities provided during my short stay. The bed was rock hard though I can tell you that. Thankfully this was only a 1 night stay.
The valet is quick to get your car for you and more than willing to give directions if needed.
You can't beat the location as it is centrally located between the Grove and Melrose. Great shopping and restaurants all within walking distance.Comment from Peter p. of Farmer's Daughter Hotel 10/25/2010

"Quirky and quaint" is absolutely right.
Sought out for an escape, we checked into the Farmer's Daughter because it was directly across the street from The Grove. After a huge dinner at Maggiano's, we headed to CVS across the street for Tequila and Squirt (Palomas effin' rule), we headed back to our room for the night. We were celebrating a birthday, and just wanted some alone and quiet time.
Upon entering the room, it's adorable rustic floors, yellow walls, and soft denim comforters greeted us with their downhome-y feel. The bed was very comfortable, shower super hot, and the silence was welcome. Yes, even situated on busy Fairfax, there was no street noise in our room.
It was a bit steep for one night in the middle of LA, but with the convenience of The Grove, the proximity to my work and his home, and the cuteness of the whole place, I wasn't too disagreeable about the price. Whenever we need a stay-cation near work, we're coming back. -

Showed up at 1 am with no rooms in sight. The farmers daughter had a room. From the outside it looks like an old motel. Not impressive. Wall through the door and things start to get better. Really cool funky "farm girl" vibe. Open seating areas where you can just hang out. Bright colors and farm feel to it. Rooms are clean and equally themed. More fun than staying at a normal hotel in my opinion. My room had a really comfy king size bed($239). Woken to the sound of music from the restaurant and a fire alarm which I could of done without. Would stay here again for sure though. Fun.

I will admit it.. I was lured into this hotel by the fact that my room had a mirror above the bed and was part of a rock video.. but in the end this is one of my favorite hotels in LA due in large part to Location, Location, Location.
Yes the service is great, and the rooms are kind of hip but at the end of the day if you are looking for a traditional hotel this is not really it. It is basically a classed up remodeled motel. The doors open to the outside, rooms are small and the suite I was in the curtains only go 75% of the way up and you are near stairs so there could be a voyeuristic thing happening but like I said service and location.
The staff is excellent and you can walk to pretty much anywhere you want to go, farmer's market, CBS, 3rd st. etc.. -

Highs:
1) Great location
2) Friendly staff
3) Nice lobby with computer access (Mac FTW)
4) Wonderful restaurant attached.
Lows:
1) It's a renovated motel and you can definitely tell.
2) LOUD... you can hear EVERY F*#ing pipe, every flush, every person around you speaking, every footstep outside your door.
3) They lost our reservation and told us that they were completely booked until I called American Express to complain.
4) Bed was rock solid and lumpy.
For the price and location it's not bad, but when reviewing the hotel and its amenities itself, it's just below average.Comment from Peter p. of Farmer's Daughter Hotel 10/4/2010

I know you've heard stories or dirty jokes about a farmer and he has a hot daughter and men who go to the farmhouse wanna "do" her...
The Farmer's Daughter is snazzy, hot and totally unassuming from the outside. You think it's a normal hotel..
Then you walk in and everything is a modern take on a farm house. Even the elevator looks like a big copper square woven basket.
The room has a lot of wooden modern accents and it's own private bedroom and a KITCHENETTE!!! (with pots and pans...fer reals) Cuz, honestly, you can't stay at a modern farmhouse home-style like hotel w/o being able to cook in your own hotel room. (I think this feature kicks uber-ass because there is a Farmer's Market across the street so you can by groceries and bring them back to the hotel and make breakfast) Which of course I DIDN'T. Shit...I'm a lazy ass bitch AND I was on a mini-holiday. I don't cook when I'm on holiday.
Anywho...come here and stay. It's mattress' are on the harder side but that can be a good thing for the right person (or persons.) Hot farmer's daughter or not you'll enjoy the room. -

Whoo, baby, I'm going to be the first Yelper to disclose the TRUE secret of this gem.
Yeah, yeah, it's inexpensive and clean and convenienty located. Right across from the Farmer's Market, the Grove and CBS Studios--that's why, until fairly recently, this was Ground Zero for die-hard Price is Right fanatics who would get up at the buttcrack of a dawn in the hope of scoring a ticket to see sexy octagenarian Bob Barker.
Sexy you say? That's right. This motel is a true den of SEXYTIME. And you buffet-fed tourists from Kansas just let this place play you like a finely-tuned tractor.
When you hear the words "Farmer's Daughter," don't you picture a sweaty roll in the hay with a plaid short-shorts wearing, t-shirt tied into a knot, pig-tailed freckled daughter of the resident Farmer? And as if to double-up on the already sex-charged-up mood of this motel, instead of a pedestrian "Do Not Disturb" sign, the staff gives you a little paper hanging cutout for your knob (doorknob, that is), showing a picture of hay, by the way, with the phrase, "Don't come a KNOCKIN' if this room's a ROCKIN'."
Now THAT's what I'm talkin' about. Because you know what Price is Rights fan look like, right? And where most of them are from?
I mean, nothing screams pure sex to me than a sorghum-fed, fanny-pack wearing middle aged couple from Wisconsin in town to see the Great Bob, bumping uglies in the room above me at the Farmer's Daughter a mere hour after oohing and ahhing at how big Chewbacca's feet really were over in front of Mann's Chinese Theater. And wow, there were so many Spidermen posing in front the theater!
C'mon honey, let's get back to the Daughter and make Wookie! -

This is either a really good motel, or a substandard hotel. And since they bill it as a hotel (and charge hotel prices) it gets dinged in the stars.
The rooms were clean, comfortable, and very cute with their farm-themed prints. The TV was nice and there was a DVD player in the room. An in-room fridge is always welcome, and the shower had a great shower head.
Unfortunately it lost some big points for being loud. I think it was the sound system at Tart, the connected restaurant, that made me reach for my earplugs. Loud music may make a restaurant fun, but if it's in a hotel, you need to be sensitive to people who came there to sleep.
Also, the vast majority of the staff there were pretty douche-y. My fiancée, who used to live in LA, tells me that it's pretty common for West Hollywood attitude. But if you work in a hotel, you should stop being cool just long enough to help your guests. Very off-putting.
Also, there was no gym and I was unable to get some hot water to make a cup of tea. (Did I mention the douche-y staff? Is asking for some boiling water a cause for scorn?)
Would I stay there again? The location rocked and the valet parking had in-and-out privileges, so I suppose I would. I don't feel it was all that much of a bargain, however. -

Farmer's Daughter is located right across the street from the Grove. It was hard to find at night. Apparently they didn't have some cheesy sign that they used to have up anymore. So it was easy to miss. We had to valet since it was a busy street and there wasn't any street parking. The lobby was so cute. They had fresh lemonade and a bird cage w/ some pretty birds to welcome you. They also had t-shirts for sale, which was of their logo. The restaurant TART is connected and right next door. You have to cross the courtyard of the restaurant to get to the building where the rooms were located.
We booked the "don't ask don't tell" room. You can only imagine what goes on in that room. Inside, the room seemed somewhat similar to a barn. Wooden floors, denim bedding, and a wall that was painted like a scene from Little House on the Prairie. Super cute dim lighting made the mood oh so sexy. Above all, there was a mirror on top of the ceiling. Literally. The room came w/ a nice sized flat TV, coffeemaker and coffee and some nice toiletries for the guests. The bed was super comfy and relaxing. The service is top notch and the room itself was a real treat. I would love to come back here the next time I visit LA.Comment from Peter p. of Farmer's Daughter Hotel 4/13/2010

All the charm of this hotel is external. I think back and wish we had booked a Joie de Vivire Hotel instead. For the price I expected more than a trendy Motel 6.
Valet was really slow, they did not seem to have enough staff to cover rush check in and check out times. Also was disappointed that they did not heat their pool! Boo, hiss boo!
The location is central. We were in town for a hockey game at the Staples center.

The Farmer's Daughter manages to use all the random things you'd find in your grandma and grandpa's home (i.e. pitch forks, old lampshades, pics of farm animals) and turn it all into something kitschy. They truly go all out with the theme (try the phoned wake-up call and get a cockle-doodle-doo) which totally works for them.
It IS very motel-turned-hotel, but has a cute, cozy feel to it. Plus, the customer service is fab... we wanted to have dinner outside one night, but Tart was closed and the heat lamps were off, so one of the guys at the front desk went out of his way to turn one on for us. PLUS they had hot cider and cookies waiting in the lobby... no better way to win over guests' hearts on a cold winter night (cold for southern cali at least, meaning too cold to wear my flip flops around). -

i'm in love with the farmer's daughter.
She's a girl after my own heart. She's cheap.
I love how she struts her stuff on the avenue.
She's not afraid to be kitschy.
She's still a county girl at heart even though she's all Hollywood.
She's modern. She's kickass.
She's comfortable. She's convenient.
She's sexy.
She's country on the inside, but sweet mixture of california uptown girl without being ostentatious.
I love her bed. it's not too hard, not too soft...it's just right. Every time i'm in town, she makes sure this boy is taken care of and she knows just how i like it.
Don't let her fool you though, she ain't gonna milk the cows. don't got milk? she'll send you packing to the farmer's market across the street. you can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country outta the girl. Yee Haw!
Seriously- Thank you to the staff for the great accommodations and the great service. -

I really like to feel safe and comfy when I stay in hotels, if it's cute as well that's a bonus. I picked this place from yelp reviews and a frommer's review with thoughts of cute, low cost, well located, comfy place to stay with my boyfriend while we were in town visiting family. Only some of that wound up being true though...
Location-wise it's pretty decent. The area isn't too shabby and the farmers market shopping area is half a block away. You're in hollywood but not IN hollywood aka the sleazy dirty part of it. Fairfax is pretty noisy at night when you're trying to sleep and the room isn't so great in terms of noise reduction. If you want to be in that area though it's not a bad place to stay. The motel itself looks like an older motel that got a hipster makeover. It was probably some really low rent budget motel back in the day. The makeover with the famer theme is cute, for about five minutes. The faux wood floor in the rooms is cute but it's weird staying in a hotel room with bare floors. Also I hate rooms that have low windows that face the walkway. People just walk right on by your window at all times.
The bathrooms are tiny but the taking a shower was nice at least (the shower itself, the fixtures, tub and tile were quite old). I would not take a bath in there though. The rooms are clean and not bad to stay in per se, but I didn't feel very comfortable staying here. I didn't try 'Tart' the restaraunt they had on the premises so I can't comment on that. They did give us a 10% off coupon for it when we arrived and it appears to be an evening only restaurant. The $12 a day valet parking was nice at least because a) it gets your car off the street and b) the price was reasonable compared to valet parking in downtown SF hotels for example.
Also it was blazing hot in LA last week and we kept the AC on about 70 our whole stay. The annoying part about the AC was that it didn't seem to stabilize very well temperature-wise. It would go on, get cooler, shut off at 70, get really really warm again then flip back on get cooler... etc. You spend a lot of your night throwing the covers on/off depending on the temp.
Overall it's a cute (but old) motel with a decent location... the price was so-so for what you get and we probably could have done better. We had a basic room with no kitchenette, wet bar or mirrors on the ceiling, just a regular room with a king bed. It was $159.99 before orbitz taxes and fees which actually made it $186.76 total. I gave this place three stars because it wasn't a bad place to stay but it wasn't great either. Next time I'm in the area I'll try to find a place that is a bit nicer for the money. -

The Farmer's Daughter is a kitschy hotel located across from the Grove and is centrally located to just about everything. The theme of the hotel is "Down on the Farm'" but they work it really well.
The rooms are cozy. We had a non-smoking room in the main building with a king size bed. I'm tall and like the extra space. The staff was excellent. They had valet parking that was reasonably priced ($18 / day) with in-and-out privileges. The room also had a large TV, DVD player and free internet access.
Didn't eat at TART, but have before on my last stay and the food was good, but nothing special.
Walked to the Grove / Farmers Market, Melrose for some shopping and a flea market at the High School located about 4 blocks away.
Overall - very clean, neat, reasonably priced and centrally located. -

I haven't done a list in a while...
The good
1. location, location, location. It's right across the street from the grove, and kind of central to a lot of things.... it also works out well, cause it's close to my parents house for visits.
2. The staff is phenomenal, they really are as friendly as it gets.
3. Reasonably price, especially considering the valet parking.
The Bad
1. The rooms are clean, but you can tell they're pretty old.
2. Thin walls, luckily there were no newlyweds next door.... that's so uncomfortable.
3. The restaurant, tart, can get a little noisy, and it's basically right outside the window.
Overall... I really like the feel of this place, but it's probably not a destination hotel for most. If you're looking for a great location, without all the fanfare... I recommend it. -

Almost a 5
We got in early and they kept our bags. When we returned from the bars at 6p our bags were in our room. First night we were probably pretty loud, but did not get kicked out. The room was perfect in so many ways. We had the suite, and the tv's were nice, ipod docks, huge bed, all great amenities. The staff was very friendly. The overnight front desk guy gave us a seminar covering our next day on the price is right, at about 1a, then he gave us a wake up call 3 hrs later.
The day time staff was very friendly and nice as well. If they did not know an answer to some of our questions, they would find the right answer for us. This is an ideal place to stay if you are going to the price is right or somewhere nearby.
*TART is a waste of space, don't expect anything from it. -

Great location ($8 cab ride to the bars in WeHo); great price; cool rooms (could've been a bit cleaner); excellent staff; good restaurant on site.

"Meh. I've experienced better."
The hotel itself feels a little run down... or maybe hip(?). There's a fine line between the two, so I'm not really too sure. And, beware of extra charges when you check out. -

Great, unique personality but could have a little extra touch inside the rooms.
Definately, they have the coolest keys that I have seen. Not to spoil it, but the key becomes a map of LA. Origami. Amazing, all keys should be this way.
The fun part about this place is that its all decorated like a cute old farm in a stylish trandy LA way. Nice location, nice food. -

Farmer's Daughter is sweet.
Notes:
-great location.
-very comfortable bed
-no! mini bar. Just a fridge. I guess that's better for true budgeteers.
-no! room service. Restaurant Tart on premises though. Bfast at Tart was kind of bland. -

I stayed here for a weekend over the summer and found it to be pretty much what I was expecting - an older motel with a trendy feeling and a light remodel. It's clean, but not modern (i.e. your bathtub will be clean but it still looks old). Parking is comparatively cheap, there is an on site restaurant, and it's conveniently located to just about everything in LA.
No, it's not a 4-star hotel, but for location, price, and ambiance, I would give it four stars. -

Farmer's Daughter is quite a unique little place. The staff was wonderful, very helpful and charming. The room itself was nice. Wasn't quite sure what to expect once i got there. The room was fun, with an upscale farm decor, a nice flat panel TV and comfy beds. I would have given them five stars, but honestly the bathrooms are quite uncomfortable and small. The shower/tub needs some work and the industrial toilets are not very appealing. But then again, what do you expect from a renovated motel?
In all my stay here was comfortable and the what i loved the most was the fact that it's close to some local site seeing and shopping destinations within Hollywood and Beverly Hills.
