Neighborhood: 78704 (South Austin)My boyfriend and I stopped into this store to get a drink after taking a long walk around South Congress. We got a tea and when my boyfriend went to pay for the tea no one was at the counter. We stood there for a while. When the lady finally did come she was very rude about my boyfriend trying to pay for the tea with his card. She said "If we took your car to pay for this tea we would pretty much be buying it for you". She said it in a snobby tone and the explanation was not appreciated because he had already pulled out and given her the cash.
I will never go to this buisness again.

I just walked over here to get stuff to make a salad. I was really disappointed. Where is the produce? Two stalks of broccoli and a head of butter lettuce? Yes, I could make a salad with that, but I would expect a store that is called "Farm to Market" to have much more in the way of produce. This place is like an amped up bodega (in a bad way). I'm fine with paying a little more money because it's within walking distance of my apartment, but they could at least give me something to buy.
Less bottled organic sauces and Amy's microwaveable meals and more fresh stuff, please.

thank dog there's a grocery down the street. who cares about price when you can park in front and be in an out before your tv program starts? i prefer their matter-of-fact business-like attitude. they have answers if you want them, but personally i don't need that. i'm glad they're there.
Great little store. Large selection of gourmet and niche items. Good stock of enviro-friendly cleaning supplies. Lots of salsas, frozen vegetarian meals, locally-pre-made lunches and wraps, wine selection, candy, salad dressings.
Only downside is the namesake produce. Small selection and very pricey.
I used to abuse my credit card here daily.

I love Farm to Market. It is more expensive than the HEB but it is just SO much easier. Peg, the owner, is always very friendly to us and helps us pick wines. We like to stop in when we are waiting for a table at Vespio.

Farm to Market is the little neighborhood grocery I want everywhere I live from now on. Their produce is fresh, shelves well-stocked & organized and the place is clean. The staff/owners are super friendly and seem to be friends with nearly everyone who comes in. And my dog loves the bowl of water they leave out front where she can check out the great flowers & plants for sale while she waits.
I wish they had a little more variety in basics like cereal, produce (the produce is ready-to-eat delicious but there's just not much of it), and personal care/home stuff. And it would be great to have the option of paper instead of plastic.

Delicious smoked salmon. Local juices and honey. Yummy cereals. Fresh produce. Cheese. Wine. Ice creams. These are a few of the reasons I shop at Farm to Market. Convenient location and hours are another. Right off Congress with a lot for parking in back, the owners keep this shop open 8 to 8, 7 days a week. There's been more than one morning I've made a small detour to pop through their backdoor for a pint of fresh juice on my way to work. Or a bottle of wine on my way home from work.
If it's just a few things I need, it's totally worth the extra bucks I pay to avoid the hellish lines and traffic at Oltof HEB.

When I can't go directly to Boggy Creek for the week, I'm sure to hit Farm To Market.
The place is friendly and the staff know the store well and are always willing to help.
Support this place!! It's locally run -- the owners live in that neighborhood - that's the way it should be!

I drop a ton of money ($50~60) when I stop in here, for what usually amounts to two or three meals max. But I've gotten compliments on the things I whipped up though, with their top-of-the-line ingredients. The upsides are that it's so convenient (if you can find parking, which in the evenings is easy) and it's small. (I HATE grocery shopping, and the HEB of Despair on Oltorf is my least favorite place in the world...) Of course, that means the selection is small, too, but it works. The owners are nice, and my roommate, who works up the street, swears by this place--even has the reusable canvas bag.
*Update*
I'm still supporting them since they're local and I hate to have to weigh in with the negative, but on two visits I've gotten three separate items that had gone bad. The first time, it was a box of crackers past their expiration date. I just let that go. Last week, it was a bag of spinach that had gone brown (didn't realize 'til I was in brighter lighting at home) and a loaf of gourmet, pricey bread that was covered in a ton of mold when I whipped it out for sandwiches the next day while I was packing a picnic for Blues on the Green. I went back and they apologized and swapped the items out with fresher ones, but still, getting into my car and driving back over there after having two meals ruined is kind of a pain when convenience is a huge selling point to start. Oh well.
Also, there was a complete lack of fresh veggies the other day, too, which is something a place like this should definitely have.

It says a lot that this was my favorite stop on my Soco crawl. Fresh fruits and veggies. Organic everything. A Toms Tabouli meal to go with hummus and olives and grape leaves and a pita and some other stuff. Honey samples. I kind of wanted to go crazy and buy the whole store out and go home happy and full. But I reminded myself that at Central Market or whole foods ( where food was similar) I didn't feel this crazy compulsion, so my wallet stayed in my purse. For the SO Co residents, who need a break from all that vintaging, and just want a nice organic dinner ( hey, why not) this must be a breath of fresh air.

When my folks moved to the country where "FM" preceded roads that housed the charming produce stand in the most unlikely of locations, I associate the Farm to Market vernacular as something bountiful and fresh.
Fresh it is in here, but where's the dang produce? Sure it's next to impossible to even exist in a town with so many farmer's markets and Central Market, but I was disappointed, especially with my friggin' two dollar pear.
If a pear costs that much, it better at least vacuum or something. Love the organic dedication, but there's nothing to be found here, and not that far of a cry from Cissi's down the street.
I refuse to believe this store is at 17th and Congress because I can't find it! I tried, I promise!
The address says SOUTH Congress but the map clearly shows the area a little north of the Capitol Building... and I'm pretty sure that if it were located there, I would've been shopping there, like, constantly. Living in the downtown area (I was at 15th St) leaves you so few grocery options within walking distance...
My roommate always used to shop here, and I never went with him... I always liked the food he brought back, though it seemed a little pricey...
but I still don't believe it actually exists! Farm to Market is a figment of everyone's imagination. The Roommate was probably just going to the health food section of H.E.B. and sending me on a wild goose chase for fun.
This place strikes me as a yuppy food haven. They've got all the food you'll find in the health section of H-E-B as well as organic produce, although I thought the selection of produce and bread was pretty scarce. There was nothing I found here that I coudn't find anywhere else, but the location is convenient and the employees are oh-so-helpful I want to cut them some slack.
