They advertise as Urban Country food, whatever that means. They have American Food (Burgers, Sandwhiches) and typical American Entree dishes. However I find that even though they say that they are American/Italian there is a tint of Mediterranean or Middle Eastern Flavor to everything. They serve several types of lamb dishes that I see at the Mediterranean/Middle Eastern places. They also have sauces and "salsa" that taste more like the above mentioned type of food. I like that type of food so I really enjoyed the food here.

All the wait staff had the "American" look, but the manager type person seemed to be of Middle East or Mediterranean heritage.

They claimed that they have the best kids menu in the South Bay. We had two kids. So we went for it. Their "other tastes' menu for kids is awesome! Generous servings and very tasty. My kids loved it! We got the braised lamb (shank) and lima bean rice.

I had a salad and my wife had the catfish sandwhich. Everything was very tasty and the service was very good.

The manager person also informed us of magic shows that are performed there and so it seems like they are trying all sorts of gimmicky things to attract customers in this economy.

Not sure what makes Urban Country food different than the other food. I did see anything that really make it stand out in terms of types of dishes, but the quality of everything was very good.

I enjoyed the warm fresh breads that were put out and the selection of chile and regular oils for dipping.

I would definitely come here again to try all the other stuff they have on the menu.

Bathrooms are small and limited. Will need to wait if it gets busy. The back seating area looks like it's under a canopy. So  depending on your preferences this can easily drop it down to a 3 star.

Pluses:
+ Delicious, interesting food.
+ Carafe of wine (1 liter) for just $15! The syrah was really tasty.
+ Entrees were mostly $10-15, good price for the quality and quantity of food.
+ Wait staff was attentive and friendly.

Minuses:
- Decor was kind of generic. That's really all I can complain about.

I've been here many times and it's alway yummy.  The service is a little spotty but all in all I'm a fan.

The good....
I love the salmon.  The burgers are also excellent.  The fries are to die for!
The bad...
Portions are HUGE. Now this may not be a bad thing for most people but it seems kind of wasteful.  Yes... I'll take a doggie bag but who want's day old fries?
The ugly.......
There is only one ladies room.  When the restaurant is busy there's a line.

My entree was very good - I ordered an Urban Lamb Shank, which had amazing sauce that was part pomegranate, part walnut. Certainly complemented the flavor of the lamb very well. Portions were generous, and I definitely had plenty left over of the veggies and garlic mashed potatoes for lunch the next day.

However, my friend and I both ordered the soup of the day (broccoli), and it was just...weird. We were expecting some cream of broccoli, and instead what we got was this dark brown/forest green mixture that was unappealing both visually and taste-wise. Yuck.

Service was okay, but nothing memorable. The decorations inside were cute and colorful though, and the bread they gave us was really good.

Overall: 3.5 stars, except I rounded down for the weird broccoli "soup."

Hi went to this place the other day, pretty late for El Segundo 845pm my boss and I had a great experience, the waiter Andrew was totally fabulous.

I had the chicken walnut stew and my boss had the catfish, we also had fries yummy. I thought this place was great, my stew was tangy the rice add on was dry and pretty good. The sauce was similar to a raspberry reduction restaurants give you when you order duck. But I thought it was great, I don't dig the angled bowls but whatever... They must have had a hard year and had to lower prices my stew was 13.95 which is pretty good. I'm a value-shopper now so vs. the stew I ate at Pho54 not as good a value but the location and ambiance is much better than Westminster... LOL  I'm surprised Sarah J thought it bland but they could have lost a chef or something. 4 stars for me....

Organic.  A word.  Just a word.  An implication.  An implication of what?  Well, generally an indication of higher prices.  But doesn't it usually mean higher quality?  Well, it's supposed to indicate higher quality ingredients, but usually it just means "plus cher."  That's french for more expensive, in case you don't speak la langue.

I work in El Segundo, so I've done my best to spread my resources (ie, my lunch money) and uncover the good spots in the area.  There are so many little joints in the surrounding areas (El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Hawthorne, etc) that it's easy to get confused as to who has quality food and who just markets it as quality.  Organic.

Cool, funky interior.  It's split inside... one side (where you enter) is a standard restaurant, and the other part of the inside feels like indoor/outdoor eating... even though it's indoor.  There are also a couple of tables outside, so that you can bask in that nice warm California sun... if you have a desk job, then it's nice to be outside on your lunch break, right?

Farm Stand has the goods.  It isn't the cheapest restaurant, but it isn't going to burst your budget either.  It's just tasty, quality food.  My standard?  Start with the Farm Stand dips combination platter - hummus, roasted eggplant and caramelized onion dip, and cucumber-dill yogurt dip ($6.95).  Tasty, nothing crazy, just a good appetizer.  For my entree I almost always go for the natural corn-fed (organic) cornish hen ($12.95 1/2 order, $17.95 whole).  I love cornish game hens.  I'm not sure what it is.  Perhaps just that they're so small and cute and succulent when you suck on the bones.  Mmmm.  Marrow.  Mmmm.  Organic.  Oh yeah, and don't forget the parmesan fries, salad and roasted veggies on the side.

Now, I'm a pretty big eater, but the half order on the game hen is fine... especially for lunch.  Don't want to fall asleep at my desk.  Not that it's ever happened before and I speak from experience.  Nope, not me.  Organic. ;)  Let's stick with the organic, not the Ryan falling asleep at his desk.  Never gonna happen.  Never has, never will.

So all in all, tasty food, good ingredients, consistent quality, one of my favorite lunch spots in El Segundo.  4 stars.

We were headed to The Hummus Factory but driving by, we couldn't help but stop and try Farm Stand. I mean, Urban County Food? Yep, they saw me coming a mile away.

We instantly and easily found parking on the street on a Friday night, unmetered. Thanks, El Segundo! Walking up, I half expected us to have to wait due to the hip looks, but looking inside, I was surprised with how many tables there were, and how many were empty - plus a second room inside. Nice, clean, modern, unpretentious decor: hip but not hipster.

We waited a few minutes to be greeted as there wasn't anybody at the host desk; no big deal, but we did wait to be greeted. At about 8:30, I'd guess there were six or eight parties and at least five wait staff. Now, I don't want to give the impression that service was inattentive, because it wasn't; it's just that it seems with the near-1:1 ratio of staff to parties, things could run a little tighter.

Checking out the menu, we loved the variety. Lots of local, in-season veggies and meats. Pricing was very reasonable, ranging from $10 to $15 a plate, $4 soup, and wine by the bottle, half bottle, or glass. Nice. I did not see claims of organic or grass-fed on the menu but I might have missed them. The menu did state that portions are large and that accordingly, bread was served upon request.

Two types of bread: a nice crumbly, crunchy, corny type of loaf cut into squares, and a whole wheat raisin type. Both nice. Melissa settled on the soup of the day, a potato-leek, which came in a surprising shade of green. A dairy-free twist on potato-leek soup, this was good. Clean and fresh tasting, with nice herbs and a delicate, crunchy crouton topping.

For entrees, Melissa had the grilled eggplant appetizer and I had a special. The eggplant was a massive portion with two enormous slices of eggplant topped with a little too much of a sauce that was a little too sweet, a little goat cheese, and a garnish. She liked it; I thought it was just okay.

My salad was billed as a grilled pineapple salad, which I interpreted to mean that  the grilled pineapple would be the primary player. Instead, it was a spinach salad with marinated shrimp, grilled pineapple, yellow tomato, beets, and goat cheese. All good, but not what I expected. All of the ingredients were nice and flavors meshed well, but I could have gone for half of the beets and double the pineapple. I was very happy with the dressing quantity, though. It's tough to find a salad that's not overdressed for my taste.

They run a special with a choice of soup or salad, entree, and dessert for $16 Sunday-Thursday and $18 on Friday and Saturday. ($2 upcharge for salmon or lamb) If you're looking for the multi-course experience, this seems like the way to go. Glasses of wine are $3 with the deal.

Our waitress offered us a complimentary taster of their chocolate mousse. It came topped with a ton of whipped cream and with a fresh chocolate-chip cookie stick embedded with more chocolate chips. The cookie was outstanding. The mouse was good; the whipped cream was so-so. My recommendation: if you do dessert, go straight for the cookies.

Overall, I wanted to like Farm Stand. They use the kinds of food I like. They have veggie and vegan-friendly options, and even dairy-free dishes. Ingredients are fresh and seasonal. Portions are large and prices are extremely reasonable. I'm hoping we just ordered a couple of clunkers. I think we'll give Farm Stand another shot to wow us.

Awesome in SO many ways, my birthday dinner at Farm Stand last night was unexpected (who plans on being in El Segundo on their birthday, really?) yet incredibly impressive.
Service was the best I've had yet in SoCal; by the end of the meal, Saturday's nightmare of rudeness at Cube was a distant memory.  Not only was the server friendly, available, well-timed and unobtrustive, other servers passing even asked if we needed anything.  What a change from L.A. pretentiousness where servers not assigned to you just stare at your table as they pass, obviously wondering why you've been left neglected and food/drinkless, but too uncaring to ever speak.
On the food tip, the veggie section had me lamenting my belly couldn't possibly hold all the dishes that sounded fabulous.  We had the melted brie appetizer, which had a great roasted garlic/apple compote, and my entree was a vegan pomegranate/walnut stew with roasted vegetables.  It came with a gorgeous bowl of saffron-infused basmati and a citrusy salsa that were the perfect complements to the sweet yet tangy sauce.  For dessert, when I ordered the chocolate mousse they said that if I chose a different dessert we could have a 1/2 portion of the mousse for free.  Um, yes please!  I got the mocha cheesecake, and the two together... good lord.  The mousse had homemade cookies with it and an intense dark chocolate flavor, and the cheesecake was the size of a normal cake slice, replete with an intensely thick sour cream layer and a drizzle of berry sauce.  A candle and a song completed the mousse.
There are 4 tupperwares of leftovers in my fridge now, and I had a glass of wine there as well.  The total, somehow, was still under $50.  Farm Stand (while very ambient) is a little too brightly-lit to be super romantic, and the leftover containers were standard plastic (not paper or natural plastic), but neither of those knock my review down any.  I would come back hear in a heart beat if in the area again, and I dare say it was good enough to be worth a trip south all on its own.

I ate here last weekend and I thought the food was pretty good.  The portions are huge so I had leftovers for dinner the next day.  I love the different unique plates they have.  The people working there are attentive and very nice.  Would definately go back to eat there.  I recommend this place.

The BF and I went here because we were going to go to Papillon that was closed right next door.  We had seen it before and had always meant to go there.
They have a pretty decent menu with a variety of interesting combinations.  I ended up with the pomegranite walnut stew.  It reminded me of poulet a la marguerite (without the poulet, of course).  BF had the meatloaf and was not overly impressed.
They are trying for comfort food, they use seasonal fruit/veggies, which is great.  But a basic meatloaf should maybe have more flavor if that is what they are trying for is home cooking.

I am really a fan of the Farm Stand.  As I look at it, El Segundo as a whole has emerged into its own as a mecca for really good restaurants.

As it has been pointed out already, the portions are huge.  But the quality of the food is quite high.  It can get a little loud sometimes, but most places seem to.

I have had a lot of different things off the menu and enjoyed them all.

The place is a bit overrated.  The food was ok and good on some occasions but what really lacked was good customer service!  Ive been there 3 times and in the past times, all of their service has been super slow or forgetful (to bring out water, food and the check at the end).  One of the worst customer service I've seen here.

I'm pretty mad that I have to give Farm Stand 2 stars.  I've been there once before and had a really good meal.  Unfortunately that did NOT happen tonight.

We got there and the place was hopping which in this economy is great to see.  We were seated and ignored for a good 10 minutes.  Finally a very harried waitress came over, asked us what we wanted to drink and "you know what you want RIGHT?"  Luckily for her, we did.  So we ordered and waited.....and waited...........and my husband who is a waitresses worst nightmare when it comes to needing a CONSTANT refill was about to drop dead from dehydration.  We finally flagged another scattered waitress and begged for water.  Our food finally arrived about 35 minutes later (WTF?), she near threw it at us and pissed off again for another 20 minutes. The food was "eh" compared to the first time we went and when she brought my husband his dessert, I threw my credit card at her so we could get the hell out of there.  Funny how fast they'll take your money but forget getting a glass of water.

This was my second and last time I will eat at Farm Stand.  I'm sorry but they are to damned slow and really just don't give a shit about their customers.

Go anywhere else, it's bound to be better with far better service.

Not Bad.
The remarks about the potion sizes are dead on. I wish the quality was a bit better and the portion a bit smaller. The ingredients were fresh but my "Spicy Dish" was not spicy and I'm no Tapatio junkie.
I found the service O.K.
It's not exactly a place you want to rush through anyway. I was a little disappointed when I asked the server if they had any specials. She mentioned the off the menu items but negelected the 1/2 off wine etc other reviewers had mentioned. After reading these reviews I realize I could have eaten for far less. :(
All in all a good experience. Not exactly fine dining but a good diversion from the same ole.

I ate here the other day for lunch and Yummm--eee!! Ordered the Walnut Pomogranite Chicken Stew over Basamati Rice with their salsa side thingie... it was amazing. The stew was slightly sweet, kind of in a mole type of way, but had real depth of flavor.

Echoing other yelpers- the service is a bit dodgy. The place was pretty empty and it took a while for our waitress to come around.

I think this is a good restaurant, especially for El Segundo. There are too many generic places out there that serve the typical hamburgers/eggs/etc.... and we need those places, but then we also need places like Farm Stand that seperate themselves. They make classic food sophisticated and yummy.

Their portions are huge and it has a very intimate feel for dinner. They also have wine specials on certain nights of the week. I also believe they just started doing take-out. It's definitely a healthier choice and delicious!

Dined @ Farm Stand last night for the first time...and it was great! There were four of us, so I was able to sample different menu items. There was bread for the table w/a duo of ancho chile & cilantro oil for dipping = very tasty. They also brought out thier house "condiment" which comes in a wine glass and was a mixture of very fresh veggies and olive oil, similar looking to a pico de gallo, which they recommend for you to add to your food, if you like, but we ate it with bread and just plain old spoons...it tasted & smelled so fresh, loved it! I had the "naked burger" w/parmesan fries (plenty to share) = yummy.  I did add some of the fresh "condiment" and it really did add a little flare to the burger. The pumpkin ravioli tasted of really fresh pumpkin = very good.  We had two of their "specials", a bacon wrapped filet mignon w/mashed potatoes (came with a little dollop of pureed garlic & fresh herbs on top and were reeeally good!) & broccoli and the vegetable lasagna (could have come out of the kitchen a little hotter for my taste, but i could really taste the eggplant and it was also yummy).  Loved the ginger lemonade and finished up with their chocolate molten cake & a scoop of ice cream, four spoons and we were all set!  Service was great and they were very attentive. I think we found a new restaurant to add to our restaurant rotation. Can't wait to go back and explore the menu a little bit more.

Cute little place with a cozy feel. Service is always friendly and accommodating... when they say "Walk-ins welcomed", they really mean it. There was a period when I used to frequent this place on a weekly basis. Now, I only go when I am around the area.

Their Urban Lamb Shank is prepared with their special walnut-pomegranite sauce and is so tender and always cooked perfectly. Since I really like the taste of the combination of sweet and savory, I almost always order this dish with their fluffy basmati saffron rice. Some other delicious dishes that always makes it hard for me to choose is Mama's Herbed Ground Beef, Eggplant Stew, Stuffed Bell Pepper and their Country Meatloaf.

I've also tried their Lemon Chicken Breast which I found to be a bit dry as well as some of their specials of the day which were either a hit or a miss. Desserts are decent but I'd rather go someplace else afterwards to seal the meal.
Service can be slow at times; however, with a nice glass of wine and a great dinner companion - nooo problem!

Great Food & Great Service (and not expensive)

My wife and I ate there last night and had a great experience.  Not only was the food superb, our waiter was wonderful, wine was good & cheap, and the restaurant had a great ambiance.

We shared the $28 - 2 person family meal and we chose:
-Urban Country Meatloaf
-Nonna Rina's Homestyle Lasagna
all this came with an excellent salad with great light dressing

-Next time I go it will be on Mon/Tues when wine is 1/2 off

There are only a few things I took away from my team's lunch outing to the Farm Stand this Tuesday.  All of them were good:

- Appetizers were delicious.  Baked brie, dipping sampler (especially eggplant & caramelized onion), stuffed mushrooms.  All delicious.

- Portions were gargantuan.  I would say this is usually a problem, but I was really hungry.  You can get away with ordering a half portion of pretty much anything and you'll be fine - and it'll be pretty cheap if you do that.

- They've built in a ton of specials for mid-week dining.  From discounted wine on Monday/Tuesday (Stag's leap for $30...), to a three-courser for $17, to 20% off your dinner if you bring your lunch receipt from that day (I was tempted), they seem to be working hard to bring business back.

Service was helpful and relatively prompt.  Prices were immensely reasonable (if you order the half portions), and it was a real joy to finally eat a decent lunch at a restaurant within five minutes of LAX.  Ambience was fine, although sitting outside on a sunny day was a nice touch.  Also has extensive vegetarian options, if you're so inclined.

I've got no complaints.  Looking forward to going back.

This place is cool!  I spied it out earlier this week after eating at another restaurant across the street and definitely wanted to come back to try it.  I met with a buddy of mine for lunch around 1:00 pm and there were plenty of tables available.  The host asked us our preference and although a table on the sidewalk was inviting since it was such a bright and sunny day, we decided on dining indoors.  The only negative with that decision was there were a few flies against the window.

The decor is done in a modern loft-style setting with exposed vents on the ceiling and interesting art work on the walls.  They've divided the dining area with an enclosure with floor to ceiling windows which I thought was great idea since it was a smart way to attenuate conversation noise while dining if the place were filled with patrons.

The cuisine is advertised as "urban country", whatever that means, and comes in large portions although many of the items appeared to be a fusion of American, Italian and Mediterranean dishes.  There was a note on the menu that said that bread would only be served upon request because the portions are extraordinarily large.

I had read some of the other reviews and other Yelpers seemed to be raving about the Walnut Pomegranate stew with chicken so I had my heart set on that.  We also requested bread and although our server was very congenial and attentive, he said that one of the girls was bringing out the bread.  Well, the girl was slow in delivering even as we noticed 3-4 girls in the back just hanging by the bar and wiping dishes.  The host approached us and said he would see what was keeping the bread.

We finally received our basket of bread which was kalamata olive bread served with pats of butter.  There's also olive oil on the table if that's your preference but I don't think it was extra virgin though, because it seemed unusually runny.

Our plates finally came out and they were served on these funky dishware that were angled so that the plate and bowl sloped which kept to the modern theme and made for an interesting presentation.  One bowl contained 5 generous sized pieces of chicken with a dark brown  puree poured over them.  Another plate had the saffron rice and a third bowl contained what were some pickled diced tomatoes and onions.

It was indeed a large portion and it looked really good so I immediately dug in by pouring some of the brown sauce over my rice and chicken.  The sauce was actually a tad too sweet for my taste although it was good.  I guess one way to describe it was it tasted similar to jam but not as viscous.  I discovered that if I added the pickled salad/pico de gallo, it mellowed the overpowering sweetness of the sauce so I would suggest this if you were to try this dish.

I would definitely come back here again although I don't quite think I'd order this particular dish again.  I do want to try the chicken and eggplant stew which is made in a tomato sauce that I noticed another diner enjoying as well as the lamb shank if I were to come for dinner sometime.  I also noticed a hamburger plate on another table and the burger was crazy huge and came served with a mountain of shoestring fries!!

I thought the ambiance of this space was comfortable and the food was decent.  I'll definitely be back soon to try out some of the other appetizing items on the menu.

I ate here twice back when I worked in El Segundo and was not impressed both times.

The first time I ordered lasagna. And it was pretty damn awful. How the hell do you screw up lasagna? Maybe substitute the tomato sauce with dead kittens? Pour the lasagna in your lap, then punch yourself in the face? Whatever it takes to make bad lasagna, they pulled it off.

A coworker convinced me to come back a second time and said to try something else. I tried the salmon salad. Then I punched the coworker in the face.

Sometimes ya just gotta have a burger.
I ran around in the sun all day with the camera & worked up an appetite.  Have been meaning to try this place.  It's really cute looking, inside and out.

For $11.25 for a burger, I would have expected Angus or Kobe, but it was chuck.  I was so hungry I ordered it anyway.
I got the blue cheese version with caramelized onion, probably the most fattening burger selection, haha.  As burgers go, it was OK, not great.
But.....they let me substitute mixed greens for the fries, even offered me a Caesar salad. The vinaigrette on the greens was amazing.  The salad was huge (much bigger than it looks in the photo), almost shocking in volume.  A monster pile of greens.  And dammit I ate it......surprised myself.
The iced tea was good and I downed a lot of it.
Service was perfect at early dinner hour.
Very attractive decor.  Cloth napkins, upscale, kinda trendy.

So, all in all.....nice.
Probably not a place I'd make a special trip from Redondo to visit, but I'd def go back if I were in the area.

Plenty of free parking, street and lot.  One thing I love about El Segundo:  no meters in the downtown district.
Farm Stand even delivers, and they cater too.

The first time I went, we all loved it.

The second time I went, we all hated it.

The third time I went, half loved it, half hated it.

Hit or miss, people, hit or miss.

Except for the brie appetizer, that thing rocked each time.

By El Segundo standards it's a fairly nice restaurant however, for yelpers that eat all over the place I'd say you'll find the dishes lacking in the "authenticity" it claims to bring to the table. Large portions will probably wow those that like the idea of free food but for me the litmus test came when I skipped over the leftover meatloaf for instant ramen.

Cute idea, poor execution. Sorry.

I have been a regular customer for the past 2 years and I have to say that this is a place I can count on time and time again for a good meal at an affordable price. From  friends and clients, vegans and omnivores everyone I have taken to the Farm Stand has found a dish that is enjoyable and satisfying.

Prior to my cutting meat and fish from diet, I was a fan of the ground chicken and the grilled salmon. Now I find just as much freshness and flavor in the eggplant stew and the pumpkin ravioli, just to name a few of the wonderful dishes offered for lunch and dinner.

I would love if they offered breakfast on weekend mornings. Perhaps in the future? Til then, I will continue to enjoy the Farm Stand for lunch and dinners with family and friends.

El Segundo is one of the few authentically chraming neighborhoods left in LA. For those of you on the Westside looking for a great meal sans the pretention, high prices and often lameass crowds of Venice, SaMo and the Southbay, do yourself a favor and enjoy some hearty, healthy food at the Farmstand.

I went in with pretty high expectation based on the Yelp reviews and the contact on the restaurant's website. However, "Mama's Herbed Ground Beef" which was supposed to be one of their signature dishes was very disappointing. The ground beef patty was dry and unimpressive (it might as well have been a frozen supermarket patty). My date ordered  the "Walnut & Pomegranate Stew" which was...interesting in a not-so-good way. Neither of us are fans of meat being cooked in a nutty fruity sauce. The positive note on this experience is that portions are very generous.

What a cute little place on Main Street.  Great ambience and decor.  A decent wine list and friendly staff.  I've been here twice and had good experiences both times.  The service was excellent the first time.  The second time I went the service was slow and they were not busy at all.  As for the food, I've had the Walnut Pomegranate Stew and the Lemon Chicken.  Both were very good.  The portions are big, so don't go overboard with appetizers or anything.  It's a great place to go with a group.

I have one complaint, though.  They have certain items on the menu that are marked as "gluten free".  For people who are on a strict gluten-free diet (due to allergies, health issues, etc), this is a great thing.  However, BEWARE... not everything marked as gluten free is actually gluten free.  For example, there is a soup with barley that is marked as gluten-free (barley contains gluten).  I brought this to the attention of our server and she didn't seem to care.  So, if you have a gluten allergy, be sure to tell them and double check everything that you are ordering.

This is definitely a little jewel in downtown El Segundo. It's a got a nice modern decor inside, a bit of the upscale side, and could be a nice date spot.  I think what I like most about this place is the uniqueness of it, it uses a lot of herbs and spices in its dishes.  I don't know if you can really consider this county food, but I haven't been here enough times to really say.
I had their speciality ground chicken (which tasted like persian food) which was pretty tasty.  It comes with plenty of side such as rice, salsa, corn on the cob, and a roasted tomato.
To be forewarned, the portions are on the hearty side.

Our lil' beach city is growin' up!  Great ambiance, great food and great service - all in The 'Gundo.  Farm Stand recently opened in the heart of "downtown" El Segundo's Main Street.  I've gone a few times with girlfriends who have also loved the spot.  Average wine list but the food was so fresh and tasty you don't really care.  I highly recommend the caesar salad which is heaping and has an addictive dressing.  I don't eat red meat but my friend had the naked burger that comes with this insane gorgonzola bechamel sauce (I think that was what it was) that I wouldn't mind putting on everything I ever eat again.  Another friend had the pumpkin ravioli that was decadent without being obnoxious.

I've only been for dinner but could be a great spot for lunches in our fair town.  If its warm, sit outside - its very cute.

ADORABLE! i'm givin it 4 stars for AESTHETICS and location alone. too fun popping into this little gem serving urban country fare. i went for lunch just before farmer's market on thursday and it was as sweet as it could be. really low key, great ambiance and my dish was DELISH! i had to have their specialty the "Walnut & Pomegranate" stew. tender chicken baked in a sweet pomegranate puree with a portion enough to feed a family of four! i luved it. no room for dessert but gotta try the molten cake or warm apple crisp next time. i have a feeling they do a mean dessert!

what a wonderful addition to this already charming street in el segundo. things are looking up around here!

I really wanted to like this place.  The decor was modern and cool and it genuinely looked like a cool friday date place.  It's too bad the food didn't match the restaurant's look.

I tried the eggplant beef stew... portions were huge but leftovers weren't worth eating... it was bland.
My BF had the tri tip with mashed potatoes and veggies... also nothing special.  The food really lacked flavor.  We probably won't go back.

Save your cash for chef hannes across the street.  It's WAAAAyyy better!

Had dinner last evening there, with three other people.  Excellent!

We each had something different including:
-  Grilled Salmon Salad - Excellent
-  Pumpkin Ravioli - Rich, but very good
-  Nonna Rina's Homestyle Lasagna - Excellent.  Not your typical lasagna, with less cream inside.  Bolognese was excellent.
-  Linguine Ischia - Excellent.

After all this, we actually went for the Molton Chocolate Cake - EXCELLENT!

I can see how this restaurant can probably be loud when full on the weekend, as there is little to absorb the sound on the floor, walls or ceiling.

Farmstand has things I love on the menu and things I won't order again.  The stews, stuffed peppers, and filet chucks here are always good.  So far I've ordered the chicken kabobs which the kabobs we're lacking flavor.  the stuff chicken with cranberry wine sauce was plated beautiful but the chicken was too dry.  If you live in the area they also will delivery which is great.

Downtown El Segundo is a haven for the greasy spoon.  You've got a few places that serve their fair share of giant hamburgers, foot-high deli sandwiches, and steaming football-sized breakfast burritos.  Lately, it's turning into something a bit more... dare I say, gentrified?

Who cares.  You gotta grub where the grubbing's good and Farm Stand is quality.

First time out, I got to sample some of their 2/3 lb bun-less cheeseburger.  While the thought of 2/3 lb of meat is utterly red-meat-i-licious, it's the quality of their chuck you have to admire. There's quite a bit of flavor there with just enough tenderness to keep it nice and moist.  The addition of shoestring fries always helps, of course.

Second time out, we went whole hog and ordered three of their more expressive dishes.  Even if lasagna should be served with piles of ricotta and mozzarella, the Farm Stand take deserves special recognition for it's lack thereof.  A giant slab of noodles, sausage, and vegetables, it doesn't lack taste at all, and should be commended for not being a red-brick in my stomach for hours afterward.  The Pumpkin Ravioli, served with a nice pesto was aptly tender and filling.  It could have used more color than just GREEN, but on its own, the pasta held up.  Lastly, their fork-tender lamb shank was falling-off-the-bone delicious.  You could spoon it off if you wanted.  I know there are some people out there who won't touch the sheep, but this shank is mouth-watering.

So, if you're looking for a night out close to home in the South Bay, but want to avoid all the craziness of the meat-market Pier Avenue, you can't do much better than Farm Stand.  It's cozy, classy, and delicious.

I would give this 3.5.
I think this place is a little hit or miss. I ordered a lamb shank with this super yummy pomegranate sauce which was phenomenal. There were really nicely done grilled veggies on the side. My fiance got a pasta dish, which looked incredibly underwhelming. It's weird to have such disparity in quality. He didn't take his leftovers home, I did.
The service wasn't very good. Our server seemed like she didn't know anything about the menu items, and our drinks took a really long time.
I really enjoyed my meal. If you go, I highly recommend the lamb shank. It was tender and juicy.
That being said, we lived in El Segundo when we went here, and I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

Hit or miss. The meat Lasagna is pretty good but I've had some bad experiences with the take-out. It's really tough to rate because I feel like the food is different every time, even when I order the same thing. Sometimes I love it and sometimes I leave with a hole in my wallet (it can be a bit too pricey). The tiramisu desert is really good though.

This restaurant opened up during the summer 2006 in El Segundo.  It is apparently being run by Gaby, the daughter of the owner of Cafe Pierre (a long time high-standing restaurant in the South Bay).

The open atmosphere and friendly staff gives this restaurant a "small town" type of feeling.  Yet the trendy food served on ultra-modern plates says otherwise.  It's an odd mix of sophistication and country longing.  Somehow, it works.

I've been there on a number of occasions.  It became one of my favorite places to go to dinner in El Segundo before I moved.  While my feelings on the food was mixed, it was always a delightful experience.

My favorite dishes on the menu:  The seafood linguine in a tomato saffron sauce, the caramelized onion and eggplant dip, the stuffed mushrooms, the naked blue cheese burger with Parmesan fries(!!!).  Try the desserts!!!  All were excellent!

Although it's a local favorite, I would say skip the chicken pomegranate walnut stew.  It's a little too sweet for me.  Another usually favorite of mine to skip at Farmstand:  the Pumpkin Ravioli.  The basil sauce is too much for the pumpkin and would have done better with a nice creamy sage sauce.
