Lodi, CA
We LOVE coming here for breakfast, lunch and even just a piece of their great pie. The service is good, at times a bit slow and forgetful just because they are overwhelmed. They are often busy so sometimes you have to wait a bit for a table. Huge portions, GREAT flavors and seasoned well. Their bakery breads are a must.

The promise of a great breakfast spot was dashed on the side of Highway 12. My French Toast was ok, but not creamy on the inside, just toasty. My friend (no, guest) had an omelette that looked great but was bland. Maybe it was an off day, but in this economy you can not survive off days.

Farm Cafe on Highway 12 on the way to Lodi from I-5 used to be, for my kids, a mandatory stop. They would stop here at least once to experience Farm Cafe's humongous Breakfasts and maybe get one of their seasonal pies, or try their variety of Breads at Breakfast or Lunch. DUHHH! What happened since last year! Did Aliens take over this restaurant? Is it the Economy? The lack of qualified help? Something has changed at the Farm Cafe!
Kevin, my youngest son, and I had Don's Breakfast ($7.95) - A VERY small Breakfast that only consists of two Eggs (Scrambled only) and two Link Sausages and your choice of Toast. When the plates for Don's Breakfast came out... Kevin and I looked at each other saying to ourselves "Wha' Happened?" "Where were the Potatoes?" We looked at the menu again... NO Potatoes! I guess we deserved what we got by NOT reading the menu item completely and relying on last year's memories of OTHER Breakfasts! Needless to say... we were both still very hungry afterwads. I have to admit, though, the Link Sausage was some of the best tasting Link Sausage I've ever had. And Kevin mentioned that he could taste the freshness of the Eggs. $7.95 for almost NOTHING! Whomever Don is... he must be someone on a diet.
Kathy, my daughter, ordered the Breakfast Sandwich - which was a Egg, Sausage and Cheese Sandwich ($5.95). Kathy also had Belgian Waffle topped with Strawberries and Whipped Cream on the side ($6.95). She also looked perplexed at the diminished quantity of food! Kathy shared some of the Belgian Waffles with her starving Brother and Father.... and I must admit again.... the Maple Syrup provided with the Waffles was SUPERB!
I usually NEVER complain about the wait-staff at the eateries I frequent, as they are an inconsequential part of the meal. BUT... today I have to mention we had the DENSEST waiter I have ever run across! The waiter cited all the toast options to us Wheat, Sour Dough.... (wait....) (wait...)... My dughter interjected after a delay that seemed lke minutes... "White!".... The waiter exclaimed "Oh, yeah!". Let us do the waiting, and have the waiter sit for a change!
And, it seemed like the meal came out over thirty minutes AFTER we ordered it. An intolerable amount of time as there was only one other table occupied at 10:30am in the morning! And it goes on and on... re-filling the Coffee after consumption of a cup of Coffee took forever! Are we complaining, or what?
We might never come here again on my kids' subsequent visits... -
Review from Zak P.
We stopped in at the farm on our way out to Stockton. It had been years since I was at the farm cafe last. I was disappointed completely in our visit. We entered the cute cafe/market and waited about 10 minutes before finally greeted and seated. It was about another 10 minutes before ordering and about 35 minutes for our order to arrive. I ordered the Italian ham sandwich, it was tasty but unlike any I have had before. My fellow diners had a turkey sandwich that was soaked in grease. It was disgusting. There are much better places in town, with far superior service. Don't waste your time.

Not a bad place to stop for lunch as you drive into Lodi. Wine tasting, a few things to buy such as jams and produce, and a little cafe. If you inquire as to the seasonal ice cream flavors they'll fill you in that it's chocolate and vanilla storebought, fyi. The tortilla soup was a bit oily, but the turkey deli sandwich did the job. Nothing to write home about but cute spot for the area. Hard to find if you put the address in your GPS!

I like this place. My family is all back east and when they come to visit this is a mandatory breakfast stop on the way to the airport. My boyfriend and I also frequent the place after dropping our dog off at the groomers up the road (probably a half dozen times in the last year). We tried this place one time for lunch and were sourly unhappy. Breakfast is the definably the way to go here. The eggs are from the chickens out back, which means they taste like eggs are suppose to taste, not line what we buy in the grocery. I almost always order one of the items on specials. The last two times it has been a pesto and tomato omelet with country potatoes and toast. The pesto was home made with the basil grown on the property. Make sure you save some time for a walk in the garden out back. It's relaxing and there's a botchy ball court to work off some of the calories from the wonderful food. I also suggest ordering the breakfast breads in place of toast, for a small up charge. Peruse the wine selection and house made jellies and baked goods.
