I love this little shop because it always has those last few items on my list that the A Dong market across the street doesn't. It also has more fresh rather than frozen items, especially in the way of Asian produce.
I can always depend on this place to have some ripe dragonfruit or even fresh durian on hand. It's much smaller than A Dong, but the selection of the items they do carry is really good. For example, they have many types of bok choy/Chinese broccoli variations, all very fresh. They also have a surprisingly large assortment of sake. In addition, they don't waste a lot of their space on instant soups, but the stuff they do have isn't found across the street. For example, they carry the real Japanese Nissin ramen -- including the XO seafood flavor.
What really makes this place awesome is the level of customer service you get here. The woman who works here goes above and beyond the customer service at A Dong. She makes herself very available for any questions and checks on all her customers to make sure they are all right. She enjoys talking about the products she's selling and loves to give any tips or advice. While we were browsing, for example, she gave really helpful advice to three (white) customers. One of them asked about many different types of produce, and she not only described their flavors and textures, but also advised on the best way to cook them. She's awesome.
Whenever I come to the Tamarac/Lauderdale Lakes area to do my Asian market shopping, I always hit up Far East and the place across the street. What one won't have, the other will. Together they make a 5-star Asian grocery shopping experience...although the customer service at Far East is 5 stars in itself.
