I've gone here about 3 or 4 times.  I don't think I'll be going back after the last time (about a month ago).  When you first walk into the place, it definitely is not a glamourous place.  Very much a hole in the wall.

The woman who gave me a manicure ended up cutting my finger and instead of acknowledging that I was bleeding, chose to ignore it until I said something. Then whatever she put on it, BURNED.  I wanted to get up and run away then!

The deal ($28 for mani/pedi) is good but I'd rather pay $5 extra to go somewhere else.

I'm so done with this place.  There wasn't any "final straw" but rather a general decline in opinion of services over a 6 month period.  The last two times I have gone I felt that I wasn't getting a full-service manicure (e.g. where's my hot hand towel?).  This place isn't super busy so most of the time there are several people sitting around eating, talking, or playing on the computer.  This made me think, when are they cleaning? Is there nothing better to do?  Some of them looked like they were still in their pajamas!  Overall the level of unprofessionalism has convinced me that there has to be another cheap convenient option near by.

I HATE this place. Everytime I go I feel like they are talking crap about me in their language. They stare and sometimes two or three nail techs hover over my table and watch. Their pedicures are short as hell (15 minutes max) and they don't have the disposable flip flops...they just put on a pair of their old ones when you are done. SO gross. Also I just went in for a nail repair and the acrylic is twice as thick on one side than on the other....so the whole nail is slanted. WTF?!
The only reason I would ever go back (like I was forced to for my nail repair) is because it's the only nail salon close to my apartment. Usually I make a trek to Arlington to go to a place there. THAT'S how much I hate Fantasy Nails.

UPDATE: 1 star: Ok, I'm sort of disturbed.  I went in there recently for my usual mani-pedi and was grossed out by the lack of hygene.  Things just seemed dirtier; one of the women had a black, gaping wound (no joke) on her leg, that was completely ununcovered; and another woman was busy removing lice from someones hair.  Right there.  In the salon.  Man, I tell you what, I'm willing to go through a lot for a cheap mani-pedi, but....this might be the end of my love affair with Fantasy Nails.  Yikes.

Original review: 3 stars:  Location, location, location....and good massage chairs.  That's pretty much what Fantasy Nails has going for it.  While I don't think the mani-pedis I have gotten there are as good as the one's I get at Campus Tan (they never seem to last very long), they are cheaper, you don't need an appointment, and the massage chairs are good and strong.

This place... hm... sucks. Devon was right about customer service. It sucks. One thing I HATE is when they try to do that fugly air spray for the white tips of a french manicure. Most of the people there try this technique, so I have to insist that someone who actually knows how to paint do my nails.

The massage part of the mani pedi always leaves something to be desired. It's like they DREAD having to show you some relaxing hand love! The moisturizer is cheap, over perfumed crap that actually dries your hands out. The polishes they use sometimes look old, and you get bubbles in the lacker.

The reason I'll never return?
I've been told more than once, by the male manager, that I could be a model if I just lost some weight. Hey, fuck you, dude. I don't know how that shit flies in Vietnam, but when I go to the salon I'm not trying to get backhanded comments!

Oh, and what the FUCK are they watching on TV!?!?

I am giving this place a generous 3-star review because they're speedy, don't try to make small-talk with me, and are close to my house.
However, the manis and pedis chip after about 3 days.  Lame.

Two stars only because my legs resembled that of a monkey's arm and despite warning the woman that my legs were ungodly, she still told me to roll up my pants. Wincing, I did so. Well, I got a good pedicure, and my manicure was okay too--at first, except those driers are probably from 1983. Maybe a little older. They take at least 4 sessions of drying and it wasn't soon before the color started chipping. Pedicure was intact for a while though.

So just don't do it.

Inexpensive and great service!  My nails did not dry completely.  I went home and took a nap thinking they were dry.  I woke up with nice hair designs in my nails.  I went back and they fixed them without any fuss.  I'll be back.

Most nail salons with the word "fantasy" in the name tend to let you down, like once your inside your fantasy is to get the hell out as fast as possible without a disease.  I've gone to this salon several times, because it's in my general direction while going home from work, and it's nicer than most salons with the world "fantasy".  It's always been clean and I always walk out with a good mani/pedi.  The customer service leaves something to be desired, which is the main reason for the three instead of four star rating.  I can personally overlook that for twenty hot looking digits in as the end result.  Plus, it was $28.  I think maybe they have a deal in the beginning part of the week.

Don't do it. This place is less than a block from my apartment, so I am always tempted, and every 6 months or go I convince myself that it's not awful and I go. About 5 minutes in, I usually feel completely dirty and like I might catch something...but then it's too late to leave!

I'm not a spa snob at all - I almost always do the $35 mani/pedi special....but it's not worth saving $5 and a few blocks to go to Fantasy. Like Lala, I've gotten cut here, my pedicures somehow seem to chip after 3 days instead of 2 weeks, and it's just generally dirty feeling. If you do find yourself here, whatever you do, turn off the "massaging" pedicure chair - it's more like some sort of a beating.

Even though I swear they are making fun of me and my nasty feet., they do a pretty good job.  I have been to  some fancier places in newbury etc and I still end up coming here.  Very thorough w/ their pedicures 'cause lord knows I need it.  Customer service could be better but very good at what they do.  They also do facials, but haven't tried it myself.  Have massaging chairs that you can use for free during pedicure-----if I only know what they were saying......hmmmm.

While the price's aren't too bad [$28 for mani/pedi], the quality is not the greatest... I'd much rather pay $35 for the same thing somewhere on Newbury Street and know the polish will last.

I saw some of the reviews below complaining about polish chipping within days and thought they were just picky... Until I realized it has happened to me twice now - the only two times I've been. I went in May for a simple manicure for a wedding and noticed it was chipping within about 36 hours. I assumed that since I choose a rather dark color, that it was just more noticeable than normally. Except I went this past Thursday for a mani/pedi and got a pale pink on my fingers [I wanted to look professional for an interview]. The following morning one nail had chipped!! Seriously now, 12 hours later and they're chipping?! Not cool. I don't know if it's the base coat they use or what, but I found the polish could come off in chunks - more peeling than chipping.

Also, both times I had the same girl... I don't think she speaks a single word of English. A bit frustrating to communicate with. Usually they at least know the nail lingo - but not her.

Spend the extra $7 and go somewhere else...

I've been going here for 6 yrs now and have had a great experience for the most part.  Honestly, you aren't going to ever get 5 star service from these hole in the wall nail shops...but the service here is always fast and the wait is short.  Try getting your nails done by Peter....lightening speed full set in less than 30 minutes!   I have been to many many nails salons(fancy and not so...) and sorry to say ladies but as annoying as it is, this isn't the only place to have cut one of my cuticles....cut them some slack

30 bucks for a manicure and pedicure is a pretty good deal. My pedicures tend to last for a month. Always able to walk in and get an appointment right away, even if they look busy. Ive been going there for a few years now, and never really had any complaints
