Now, I know what you're thinking. 5 stars for a chain-chop haircut place? In a word, yes.
Did you see the movie "Gone, Baby, Gone"? Well, the neighborhood of Charlestown *used* to be like the Southie of old - full of crusty, long time residents living in the same house their parents lived in, lots of flat As and missing Rs, and the guy down the street with his tricked out Lincoln Mk VII.
Fantastic Sam's, in the Foodbastard parking lot, is a bastion of this time. The store is well-kept by the ladies who work here, and has been for the four+ years I've been coming here.
My hair is...not hard to cut. I basically get it short and neat, very uncomplicated. But you'd be surprised at how people can jack up an easy haircut. OK, maybe you wouldn't be. But in the four plus years I've been coming here, I have only *once* had a bad haircut. Just once.
For whatever reason, I don't know the names of any of the ladies who work here EXCEPT for the one who gave me the bad haircut: Crayola. Dead serious, that's her name. That's messed up, right? Anyway, turns out Crayola isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, she's also a part time stripper at King Arthur's.
Anyway, I promise you that if you want your hair cut cheaply and effectively by some of the nicest, cigarette-smokin', cell-phone talkin', accent-speakin' old school Chaaaaahlestown ladies around, pop in and say hello.
