FANTASIA COFFEE & TEA
Fantasia!!! The original pearl tea shop that started all the craze. What a quaint little coffee and tea shop in Cupertino Village. It has a great decor, complete with comfy seats and an area to lounge at...it's all about lounging here at Fantasia. As for the drinks, they have a pretty good pearl tea and mango drink. The pearls are good. The only knock is that the drinks are expensive, but then again, they use real ingredients rather than powder that the other pearl tea shops use. Also, much to my disappointment, they don't serve popcorn chicken!!!
I was here one night with 6 other people...and none of us even ordered anything ^)^ The staff was nice enough to even give me a cup of water, while I was sipping on my energy drink. Next time, I'll definitely order a pearl tea...and enjoy the decor again!
Excellent place to chill and have a drink. The customers are more mature here compared to the clientele at Quicklys or Tapioca Express.
This place has been around in Cupertino Village for a while but my friends and I use to always go to Q-cup for their junk food and crepes. But since we're a little over popcorn chicken and just want a drink, we go to Fantasia now.
The Hot Green Milk Tea is DE-LIGHT-FUL, especially on a cold day. You can actually taste the tea and the flavor just makes me feel happy and warm inside. My friend had the Hot Taro Milk Tea and he didn't really like because it really tasted TOO MUCH like taro but I guess it depends on preference. I've also tried the Peach Green Tea at the Fantasia in Santana Row which is really good too. I prefer going to this place over that one because it's about 25 cents cheaper, more seats, and very cozy. The service is really fast too. I got my drink in about 2 minutes or less.
If you're looking for a non-alcoholic place to hang out after 10pm, this place closes at 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
Oh, disappointed try again. That can be directed both ways, to Fantasia and at myself.
I got the Hot Milk Tea with Taro balls, uhm yeah ... my milk tea was overwhelmingly tea and the Taro balls were stuck together my spoon had trouble taking them apart. I usually try not to stray away from Hot Almond Milk Tea and I'm sorry that I did.
Hm, maybe it'd be wise to hire somebody new. How exactly do you get hot milk tea wrong?
P.S. CASH ONLY!
I always get my jasmin milk tea here. Sooo good. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. I can't say this place is cheap but the drinks are good so I'm willing to pay the extra $. I used to get the pearls but I gained like 5 lbs in 2 weeks!!!!! =( So no more pearls for me but how I love those chewing little black pearls. Yummm.
Twas a disappointing day for me. The dumplings from Hu Chiang that I've been dying to try (and that I ordered two orders of) ended up being disgusting. Break Time, a dollar for a pastry, happened to be closed on Mondays, the day I was there. And then Fantasia happened.
My experience at Fantasia wasn't horrible..however, I needed a pick-me-up and this wasn't it. I ordered the Black Tea with Pearl for $2.50, which by the way, is incredibly cheap! Although it tasted more like grass jelly, I still enjoyed the drink. The boba had nice flavor and texture as well.
What disappointed me were the pastries! I purchased 5 Mini Swiss Rolls for $1. They only had 4 so they let me have an Apricot Frollini. The Mini Swiss Rolls were filled with Black Forest and Vanilla and looked really good. WRONG. The top was hard and the bottom was soggy!! I threw away the rest after having ONE. I should've gotten more of the Apricot Frollinis because those were decent. I also ordered the Napoleon, which is prewrapped and the crust wasn't crispy and the custard was bland. I also threw that away after one bite. =(
I'll probably be back for their drinks but most likely not for their pastries!
Three words for you. Hot. Taro. Milk.
It's steamed so it tastes like a taro latte. IS THAT NOT GENIUS?? Taro latte??? Tell me you're not salivating right now just thinking about it. On a cold day, it warms my tummy and soul. I dream about this stuff while in DC. I haven't even had this kind of yumminess in Taiwan.... so kudos to you Fantasia, and the girl who whipped up this crack-in-a-cup for me. Kudos to you.
this is my other favorite boba place in the bay area. i really like their regular pearl milk tea and their pearl milk green tea - but my favorite by far is their lychee pearl milk green tea. SO GOOD munching away at actual chunks of lychee and bobas all mixed together. It's also not syrupy and fakely sweet with food coloring like other fruity bobas.
they also have my favorite hot grass jelly - at some places the jelly doesn't really congeal right, but it does here. not too thick, not too watery. plus i like that they have taro balls, well - when they actually have them. they tend to run out later in the day so check the rectangular plastic bin on the counter behind the clerk to see if they've run out.
note: they are real sticklers for the expiration date on those buy 10 get one free cards. i tried to redeem one the day after it expired, and the girl very rudely told me that i couldn't use it anymore. sad.
yum yum yum! This place was seriously popping! After a 2pm lunch at A&J's which was EQUALLY as happening, I stood in line at this cash only boba joint. I was really contemplating ditching for some other boba joint with a lesser line, but in the end, it really was worth it. I got a peach tea and it was delish- a little sweet, but delish. I think I'm going to have to get a taro latte next time, as my fellow yelper Peggy W got though!
Fantasia is my favorite milk tea place in the states. I love how their teas taste. Some people prefer TenRen because that place has a stronger tea taste, but I like the combo of the milk and tea from Fantasia.
I usually get the jasmine milk tea when I come here. My other regulars are the guava milk tea (really good, but sweet) and honey green tea (if I'm feeling a bit more healthy).
I come here soooooo much with my friends. Probably at least a couple times a week. Love it!
Normally, I go to this coffee place for the Taro Hot Milk Tea. It's pretty good. One complaint is there aren't enough tables especially if you roll through w/a bunch of your Asian friends just wanting some bopa.
Still my favorite place to get a milk tea pearl drink. They use REAL milk, REAL tea, and REAL pearls. Nothing taste powdery at all.
If you haven't try their TARO MILK TEA...you should! Definitely can't find the same quality elsewhere.
I love the vibe of this coffee shop. Free Wi-fi with Chinese pop in the background. Sip on some hot tea on a cold day while shopping online on my laptop. How relaxing is THAT?!
The best pearl tea in the Bay Area.
I've been coming here for years. Since I was 10 or 11. My neighbor used to work here so I'd bus it over here or come with my mommy and get pearl tea. I think I used to be a lot nicer when I was younger. Less smokers, cleaner environment. I haven't been back here for a long time since I've moved to the city, not sure how accurate it is.
I love the green tea here. And the pearls are really yummy. I still think they have the best pearls. by far.
My favorite place to get milk tea in Northern California ever! I went whenever I was home and would down at least 2 (millions of calories!) before I am satisfied for months. EVERYTHING here is fresh and not powdered. I love their red bean milk tea, with real red beans! NOT kidney beans!
After going to all the Fantasias, I think this is the best one. This one and the McCarthy one come pretty close, but still I like the vibe of this one better. Lots of chairs and comfort in and out of the shop to chat and meet with friends. Their snacks/cookies section is always filled up. Service wise, they are super fast.
I find it funny/cute that their mexican worker understands all the drinks when said in mandarin..!

This place is for the people that actually want to enjoy a cup of aroma filled tea. Like eating dark chocolate or drinking espresso, this place is an acquired taste. Not for the youngsters that have the sweet-tooth and still drink artificial milk powder...
The almond milk tea here is fantastic! I love it. The taro here is great as well. The real killer there though is the green tea jelly, my asian mom likes. I have yet to find another tea store that makes it remotely as flavorful. The taro balls are also a delicious choice every single time. You know this is an authentic tea store when their hot tea tastes better than their cold ones. Fantasia is a tea enthusiast's dream come true...
p.s. So apparently, my friend's aunt owns this place. He tried to apply for a cashier position, but his aunt refused. Because they only hire good looking "ABC" boys and girls... This was couple years back though...
I don't get it.
The green milk tea and black milk tea definitely sucks at this location. I know, it's all about the tea flavor. And I'm like that too, but did they forget to add the fructose?
& the drink was wayy to milky. And I just order the drink, and within 5 seconds I received my order. I'm not against quick service, but I question the quality if they give it to me within 5 seconds of me paying for it. They definitely had it premade and pour it into a to go cup for me. EW.
Fantasia is always my number one fave in North CA! I can even say, it has the best milk tea ever in CA! Lived in LA for 2 years, I had been craving for a cup of Fantasia almost everyday! Seriously, I'm so addicted!
Milk Tea with pearls is always good. But my fave among all the others is Lychee Green Pearl Milk Tea! Basically, it's not the originally milk tea, it's a bit sweeter. What's great is the chewy "pearls", and the Lychee meat in the drink! What can i say more? IT ROCKS!
And one more good thing about Fantasia is, you never need to wait for more than 2 minutues to get your drink! the people there are quick!
best for boba ... tea is great and pearls are excellent. if you are looking for taiwanese snacks though this is not the place for u.
in terms of snacks i think i like tap ex and q-cup better. though one thing i like about fantasia is that they make itinto more of a "coffee shop" setting instead of food + drinks like lunch/dinner hang out place. its quite so i can bring my laptop and study. it also doesn't have the greasy food smell which i like. i'm not into fried food anyways so not having the pop corn chicken stuff is fine with me.
I had a sudden craving for milk tea this nice hot evening. I haven't had milk tea in who knows how long ever since the frozen yogurt epidemic started not too long ago! I wanted to mix it up and have something different to keep me awake during my studies tonight other than the normal Starbucks coffee run or redbull can.
Drove to Cupertino Village. Walked right into a crowded Fantasia. Waited 2 people in front of me. Ordered a Pearl Milk Tea.. which by the way you can't order a larger size cup... only for the hot drinks you can.. and BAM.. my drink was already ready on the counter to the left of me.
And i walked out of there within less than 10 minutes a happy camper. The milk tea is a right taste today.. Not too sweet. Not too bland like how the Fantasia at Santana Row usually does it.. Just the right amount of milk tea...
What surprises me even more that made me miss milk tea drinks was how incredibly CHEWY their tapioca balls are!!! I love them!!! so soft.......
I have been going to Fantasia since it first opened, and the taste has remained the same - AMAZING. I love the pearls as they're perfectly chewy. The milk tea is amazing, as well as the aiyu and the almond milk tea. They make GREAT drinks. This is in my opinion the best boba in Cupertino.
This place is amazing. The plaza is peaceful but the best part is how good the milk tea drinks are here. I usually order a different tea each time I come here, but the best one I've had is Passion Milk tea (I think its called). You can taste the tea in your drinks and it feels real. The boba here tastes really good too. Some places are either too soft or stale but this place is just right. Chewy, soft, and sweet is the right texture for me.
They sell some pastries here too and I never really tried them until my boyfriend saw Tiramisu. We ordered one and it was actually really good! It was quite expensive for a small cup but it was still worth the money.
Service is really quick. You order and pay right away. Less then 5 mins your drink is ready to go! Sometimes when its busy its still fast too and its great. Even though fast services can be bad, most of my experience here was never bad. The drinks still taste great.
:)
I'm not usually a big fan of pearl tea, but, I'd have to say that this is one of my preferred locations to go to for it.
Their drinks are not too much different than your average one, but, their drinks have this 'frothiness' to it and the drink is pretty smooth. They don't have this appearance of being a lower tier tea house, so, it might offer a better appeal.
Anyways, the drinks average $2.50 to $4.00 and to support my review, my friends enjoy this place over the others in Cupertino Village.
Recommend!
I STILL love Fantasia!
I've been going here since high school. There was a point in time where I would get the same drink almost every day and so their employees knew what I was going to order before I even got to the front of the line.
My favorite drinks:
- ai yu jelly without pearls
- green milk tea without pearls (less sugar)
- passionfruit/mango/peach green tea
- hot grass jelly with taro balls
One thing I especially like is how they make their hot drinks really hot. I hate the lukewarm drinks they give you at other boba places. I also like how when I say "less sugar" they barely put any sugar into my drink.
Yay Fantasia!

Fantasia has been my favorite shop to go for milk tea for more than 4 years now. It seems that every milk tea shop I've been to, none of the drinks match up to Fantasia's. Whenever I'm in Cupertino I drink as many Strawberry Milk Teas as I can manage, b/c at other places it just tastes too fake / cheap.
I also love how Fantasia doesn't go the stereotypical route when marketing their brand. If you've ever noticed, a lot of pmt shops out there have bubbly lettering and cutesy colors / graphics. Fantasia goes with classic lettering and earth-toned colors. The shop inside reminded me a little of Starbucks with an Asian feel.
Fantasia is the top-of-the-line PMT place. It's like Chanel or Gucci of pearl milk teas. I am absolutely addicted to Fantasia. Frequent customer stamps (buy 9 pearl milk tea, get 1 free!), fast service, and quality drinks.
I like their green PMT or green tea with pearls. Sometimes I'll mix it up and order a mango PMT. On a cold day, I'll order a hot green milk tea.
When the weather is hot, there is a long line in front of the store. But they are pretty quick at making drinks so it's not too much of a wait. There is outdoor seating and also indoor seating (though it gets loud when it's packed). There are outlets (on the ceiling) for laptops.
It's the best pearl milk tea place in Cupertino. No doubt about it.
Even tho there are other fantasia locations, IMO this one has the best tea. I'm not talking about the boba, which are equally good at all the locations, but the tea is just outstanding at this location. I've had most of the selections, from lychee to passion fruit to milk green tea. My favorite is still tapioca milk tea, and fantasia does it right. The tea has great tea flavor, not watered down like other places. I always try to pop in when I'm driving down south bay.
Only con is the huge line, which sucks but you gotta take the bad with the good.
So thus begins my 2nd ever review on yelp!
A quick background:
So after 3 hours of work into my insane 6:30 pm - 7:00 am shift at work (I went to college for this?! at least its only for a few weeks) my co-worker and I had a sudden craving for some boba (I guess nor cal ppl call it pearl milk tea [which is technically correct]). Being a native socal (Irvine) person, I only knew of three places: Lollicup, Tapioca Express, and Ten Ren's Tea time. // end of backgronud
Being the ultimate scrub I am, I assumed that the Ten Ren's in Cupertino Square would be open late (I mean come on Asian Tea Shops are always open late AMIRITE DX). Of course it wasn't, but oh wait! As I was pulling around the back of the plaza I saw Fantasia! It also looked like there were a good amount of people in there. SCORE O_O!
I promptly parked the car and went in. First thing I noticed, just as in SoCal, there were a good amount of Chinese people out front smoking (Lol I'm home again ^__^, and no I don't smoke). I walked in and there was a really nice girl @ the register (:. I promptly ordered a taro milk tea with pearls (so did my co-worker).
The drinks were done within.. I dunno like 30 seconds? SUPERSONIC FAST O_O. I hadn't even put my wallet away yet! Anyways, the drink was pretty good, although it tasted kind of powdery (could be actual taro, or just mix that didnt dissolve, I don't know).
Would I go there again? Sure!
Was it good for the price I paid? Yuppers~
Were there any cute girls there? *nods* LOLLLL
I love milk tea that actually tastes like tea! I remember the very first time I EVER tried boba was here at this location about 10 years ago with my cousin. Since the whole milk tea craze died, I have never been back. I came here after church with the boyfriend because I was super parched and a little hung over.. (I know, I know...) Anyways, it kind of annoys me when there are employees that do not speak a word of English. I don't speak Chinese but if I moved to China, I'd at least try to learn.. The girl working here obviously gave up or didn't even start to try. Trying to order my simple drink MANGO MILK TEA.. was so difficult! I finally ended up ordering from the Mexican guy filling up the ice in the back.
Yeh...
Now that I've been going back to LA more often, I feel like Fantasia's milk tea tastes too thick...more like coffee than milk tea. Lately, I've been trying their other drinks - passion fruit green tea, honey green tea, lychee green tea with grass jelly, etc. They are refreshing but TOO EXPENSIVE. If you get one of these specialty drinks, it's at least $3.50 and if you want to add some sort of jelly in it it's another $.50 then you add on tax and your drink is easily over $4.00.

Yum. Strawberry green tea with yellow jelly and pearl Or thai tea and pearl sounds good too. Aww the memories, I took my gf here for our first date haha. Anyways back to the review. The outside seating is really nice as long as it is not to cold. Oh and remember, if you don't like the smell of cigarette smoke, be aware that smokers are usually around here. The service is quite fast which is a plus. Ohh and all the pastries are all lined up in their little containers just waiting to be eaten. Mochi please :D. If your hungry, walk around the plaza for a bit and you could get some food then head over to fantasia for some tea and coffee. Way to end a night :)
This is where I love to get my boba drinks. My favorite is milk tea with grass jelly. The hot almond is really good too. The staff is nice and the milk tea is good. Not too sweet.
If it's even legal for me to set up tent in front of Fantasia.. I would definitely pack my gear. I visit Fantasia at least twice a week, but only at this location. Santana Row's location does not measure up to Cupertino Fantasia; they are significantly on the opposite end of the spectrum.
Fantasia does get jam-packed and can be overwhelming on the weekends. On certain weekends, I have seen the line pass the Optometry office, but be patient. The staffs are fast and friendly, they will be with you shortly.
My favorite drinks are: black tea w/ grass jelly (pearl optional), red bean milk tea (no pearl), and lychee w/ grass jelly in honey green tea (no pearl). I deem them as a semi-sweet dessert that is notably healthy compared to eating a slice of cake.. and especially less calories than drinking a frappuccino from Starbucks.
After having lived in Cupertino for 20+ years, I've tried all the different pearl milk tea (PMT) places that have sprung up over the years, and Fantasia is still my favorite, hands down.
First off, you can actually taste the tea in its PMT, which definitely separates it from its competitors (Verde, Tapioca Express, Quicklys, Q-Cup, etc.) Tapioca pearls are always a huge factor in determining whether or not I like that cup of PMT, and 90% of the time they're perfect (in the other 10%, they're too soft and not as chewy).
Other pros:
Price: It's very cheap - less than $3 for a regular Pearl Milk Tea, which is less than Tapioca Express.
Service: fast. Usually by the time I'm done putting my change away, they already have my drink ready.
Snacks: tons of cookies and other Asian snacks at the counter for your purchase
Seating: plenty of indoor and outdoor seating
Stamp card: Buy 10 get 1 free :)
I've tried the Fantasia in Milpitas & Santana Row as well, and I still believe the Fantasia in Cupertino has the best PMT. It's a go-to in the Bay Area if you're ever craving quality, affordable PMT.
I like the taste of their green milk tea a lot. It's a little more flowery than some other places. I also like the green bean milk tea and taro milk with pearls (which isn't a tea). This Fantasia is really efficient and conveniently located in Cupertino Village. However, in recent months it just seems like whenever I get a boba at this particular location, the tapioca balls are all stuck together in one huge mass at the bottom of the cup, making it very hard to suck them up the straw.
I loved this place, used to come here all the time when I lived in Cupertino. It was "the spot" to be for the asians because it was cheap and stayed open till late.
It's pretty much your typical milk tea place. I wouldn't go for the food items they have there, just stick to the tea.
When you order tapioca here, it's called pearls not boba for those socal people out there.
This is where my love for boba started!! My buddies and I would ditch class to come to this Cupertino location for a great drink - and we lived in Santa Clara!
Staff is always upbeat no matter how busy it gets. Not to mention the are all cute! There are a lot of drinks to choose from as I always grabbed an order of lychee slush with boba. Ingredients here are top notch - none of that fake powder stuff! Atmosphere is always lively and it's always clean.
Another reason to love the Bay.
This is the best place to get pearl drinks...the quality is a lot better than at any tapioca, q cup, or quickly.
Workers are friendly and very fast.
Lots of outdoor seating and cute plaza to walk around at.
I wish there was one closer to my house.
Usually a passion fruit loyal, I tried their guava green milk tea on a whim...it was actually really good!
Definitely one of the tried-and-true boba places in the South Bay. I've been going here since high school! I wish there were more options on the menu though...
But at least nobody seems to really mind when you're here with a bunch of friends and you're playing cards loudly and obnoxiously...(haha j/k I don't think we were THAT bad...)
