Solid place

The slice of cheese pizza I had was good. It was reheated but it didn't come out as stale as other places.

It was overly greasy but still enjoyable.

The guys working behind the counter were cool too.

Ok, look, I'm not a New Yorker. I have not spent years scouring the city for the perfect pizza. I'm sure there are way better places out there. But I love, and probably always will love, Famous Famiglia. Sure, it's a chain, but they're cheap, they're fast, and they're tasty as hell. You really can't go wrong with them, and I look forward to heading in there every time I'm in the city.

For more years than I can remember, when I am hungry and in this 'hood and want a fast bite, I come here. Good pizza, fast service, cheap price, you get me? Leave your hoity-toity attitude on the street, and come inside and get some good, cheap, quck pizza, then go to your show or where ever...

New York = pizza city... of course we had to try FF!  they are alll over the place.

They had the best vegetarian/broccoli pizza! It was fresh, light, and crispy... compared to some of the other slices we tried.

good tables for people watching and opens till late.

It suited it's purpose :P We were desperate for pizza and John's was closed for a private event. We only had an hour to eat because we were going to see a show, so we didn't want to spend half an hour looking for a new place to eat... so we turned the corner on 44th and 8th and saw this place :P It was empty, but we went in anyway, despite our reservations. Wasn't too hideous! Got our pizza quickly, and got a table just in time. For some reason a load of people followed us in and the place was packed... perhaps they also  wanted to go to John's and couldn't! And it was raining, so maybe they just wanted to go inside somewhere.

Didn't taste like NY pizza. I would compare it to Sbarro's or some other mall-food-court quality pizza.

I was not on a hunt for real authentic pizza...to be truthful, I just saw the pizza through the window and did not notice the sign until after I left. Hmmm, Famous Famiglia? Well, I guess you can include that in your name if you want people to come in...but than again, I saw lots of signs in-and-around Times Square saying famous this and that.

Well, I only came in for one slice and the the pizza was tasty. It was either that or a hot dog from the street vendor.

I guess the next time I come to New York, I will do some research on a pizza place if I am really inclined to eat more than one slice. Probably just stop in here or any other pizza place for a quick snack.

My mom and I rushed into here quickly before seeing Phantom down the street at the Majestic. We told the guy working there we only had about 20 minutes. They got our pasta and pizza plates to us exactly 20 minutes later. We ended up taking them to the theater and eating them during intermission. Lame of us - but understandable I guess of a busy downtown pizza location.
The food itself was good, and we ate it all up and wished we had ordered more. The staff was really friendly and tried their best, I guess. But I wouldn't go back unless I was willing to wait longer in a crowded and rather cramped venue. I think both of our meals totalled to about $16, so it wasn't thrifty - but could have been more expensive.
In other words - A-OK, but not something I would seek out or even try again.

Ehhh, nothing to write home about!  Kind of greasy actually.  There are so many fantastic pizza places in NYC, why bother with ones that are just mediocre?  But, if you just arrived in the city, its raining, and are dying for a slice....this place works, I guess!  We were just passing by and figured why not try it.

Bleh.........pretty much boring.  Nothing dreadful by any means and they appeared to be open late....but still.....not that fantastic either!

Why?

You know those times in your life when you wish you could press rewind and pretend it never happened? One of those times was when i saw "Date Movie" at the theater. Another was when I ate at Famous Famiglia.

Don't even feel like writing about how bad the pizza was, but I'll tell you that the fact that it was 2am didn't even make it any better.

One star for friendly counter guys.

Terrible pizza.  Bad sauce.  Terrible pizza.  Bad sauce.  Go here only if you're being chased by a gang of machine-gun toting thugs and you really want to have one last meal.

This is not somewhere that you should seek out, but if you happen to be drunk in Times Square and in need of a semi-decent slice, you could come here.  I guess.  At least it's not obscenely expensive, and if you're getting drunk in Times Square, then your wallet might very well appreciate that fact.

Not NY pizza, could not even eat here.  Server sneezed on hand and then touch pie, and I think I saw some bugs crawling on the counters.

I got to admit, even NY chain-pizza does it better than whatever we got here in California. [Except of course for Giovanni's, which thankfully a native New Yorker decided to give us a taste on the west coast.]

Had a slice of the spinach, add some garlic, and you're good to go.

We had been walking around NYU and it started to rain so we decided to check out this joint. Cheap prices, a decent menu and the staff was nice. The food could have been better but it's similar to Sbarro. If I was a student at NYU, I would probably visit this place often. As for someone living in Brooklyn, I may wonder in again should it start to rain

i agree with others that this is nothing to write home about.  it has a nice location, so it gets enough customers from the theatre and tourist crowds that it doesn't really work on its quality.  the pizza doesn't seem too fresh and is greasy, just as others said.  one thing that is unique is that the staff here talk all new york, which i guess impresses the tourists.  i prefer getting pizza at pizza suprema.

One must wonder where they got all of the celebrity photos from, unless if the place was once better than it currently is now (which is probably very likely).  The pizza was cardboard ish, the service was rushed because this place is a small station than most of the bigger famiglia chains around the city.  The cost is comparable to other NY established pizza joints, but for the money I'd rather have it spent on something more substantial for taste.

I thought NY pizza was supposed to be good, but I didn't do my research before coming here. The pizza was ok, but not the best I've had. I didn't have enough time to try it elsewhere, but I'm sure there's way better.

Definitely my favorite pizza around.  I've even gone into Manhattan to get it and then come back to Brooklyn.  Not only is the pizza good, the customer service I've received every single time I've gone in there has been fantastic.

I got a slice of pizza from here. It was light and had some tasty ingredients. The only problem with it was the price. A slice was over $3. That's way too much no matter what city you're in. Lots of people served and lots of nice people served, but also lots of people ripped off.

Didn't go to the one by Times Square but went to the one at Newark airport on the way home back to SF California. Had to make sure that I had the taste of NY pizza before I went home. Got me a slice of peperoni and mushroom and peperoni and sausage. One thing I noticed is that this is the only pizza joint in NY that I went to that served the sausage as strips. When I went to John's pizza they had the ground up clumped style. Pizza was so good I had to get another slice for my flight back home.

If it's a choice between here and Sbarro for your Times Square Pizza, at least have the dignity to go to Famiglia, I plead with you. Neither of these places are top rate or anything like a real NY pizzeria, but Famiglia at least is a real NY brand and makes somewhat good food, even if this location is too crowded and annoying to be very enjoyable. You can't beat pizza in the middle of Times Square, but if you could make it to a smaller, neighborhood place, it'll definitely be better.
