Went on a "date" with my 10 year old. We were both impressed with the barbecued ribs and hawaiin chicken. I was even more impressed with the service! :)

BBQ is pretty good. They provide sauce packets in addition to the lighty "sauced" meat. The mac and cheese is the BEST. Spicy!!!
The food is tastly and good portions size. Used them to cater lunch in the office. -

Famous Daves is a little out of the way for me, but it is worth the drive. The food and atmosphere are great. This place is a change of pace from a lot of the restaurants in Utah.
These are probably my favorite ribs in Utah. It's been hard to find ribs that fall off the bone, but this place seems to do the trick. These ribs are great, and along with the corn muffin and two-sides it makes for a great meal.
The portions are pretty big and I usually end up getting 4 ribs instead of a full or half rack. This with the sides is enough to fill me up. -

Flavor wise I really liked the BBQ here but the meat was a bit grisly, I felt my meal was 50% meat, and 50% fat. I'm sure it had to do with the cut of meat I got, and I know people that think ftt meat is key to ribs. But I grew up avoiding that fatty stuff, if you're as picky as me you'll have to do some careful eating to get all the meat.
That being said I loved the variety of BBQ sauces that were available It doesn't matter want type of BBQ you like, spicy, sugary, or other I bet you can find a sauce that it right down your alley.
And the service is great, they like to show off the variety they have and help you find what you'll like on the menu. The atmosphere is what you'd expect in these "Chotchkie's" style places; it's just a more rustic version, with all the crap on the walls.
But they don't make the servers wear "flair". -

If ya love meat this is an excellent place. I took my family here and the kids got sauce all over them - which is awesome. This location was clean, friendly, and great.
My only complaint was my bistro wasn't as good as in the past. One time issue.
We loved it. -
Review from Adelaide O.
My brother took me here last month. It was a really fun lunch. The place has such fun decorations, and the food is definitely yummy. I ordered the wings and had half with the famous sauce and half with the spicy sauce. The spicy sauce was a little much for me, so I only ate a couple and ended up trading the rest with my husband.
The manager kept checking in on us and apologizing about the wait time for the food, but we really didn't think that the food took too long. They accidently forgot to give my brother and his wife corn bread, so the manager brought out a plate with lots of corn bread on it. It was fantastic! They really want to make sure everyone is happy. -

More of a family hangout I suppose, but the ribs are good. Service is good too, but they're funny about bringing you drinks before you order food, must be a Utah thing.

For the formula, and for being a (small) chain, Famous Dave's is awesome.
Here's the deal:
Sit down, the menu has pork ribs, pulled pork, and beef brisket. Order pork.
Pork arrives in literally 5 minutes. Which makes sense; it's already cooked. Why other BBQ joints cannot get me my food in 5 minutes I have no idea. It's BBQ, and that means it took hours to cook and if it's not done by now it's not going to be any time soon.
Oh and beer! They have a decent BBQ-worthy beer called Cutthroat. It may or may not be 3% depending on whom you ask, and they do double-ID you for it (quaint local custom), but they sell it in a huge glass. I don't know what a flagon is but I would call it a flagon of beer because it sounds cool and tall and big as hell. Heck I mean. (We are in Utah after all.)
So the ribs are spot on-- perfect pink smoke ring, tender to the bone but not cheater oven ribs, the real deal.
Sides are typical of Utah, small and lacking in vegatables. Green beans, in Utah, means green beans with bread crumbs and cheese and junk. Whatever, these are just garnishes. For $20, you are swimming in ribs and beer.
Two neat features other BBQ places should emulate are the selection of tasty house sauces at each table, and the paper towel dispenser. Not cheap-ass bathroom paper towels either, the real stuff on a roll. Right there at your table!
The brisket did kinda suck. It was smokey, but brisket takes a whole different level of cooking to get right. Not for beginners or hired hands, apparently. I'm sure Dave himself could have done it up right but he was busy. I felt bad for my old man and tossed him a rib. Just order the ribs and you will be happy.
Good atmosphere; lots of chubby blond Utah girls and friendly looking jock-types having a great time and not talking, because their mouths have ribs in them.
Oh, and how Chili's exists in the same plaza as Dave's I have no idea. Chili's sucks, people. -

I was pleasantly surprised by the BBQ at Famous Daves. Co-workers raved that this place was great and it was!
Healthy portioned tasty meat combination plates, great sides, sauce, ambiance, service and best of all....huge cups of sweet tea.
Count me in next time...this place ROCKS!Listed in: Big Love

I'd probably go for a 4.5 here but I really enjoyed my experience at Famous Dave's so I'm going to go ahead and give them a five. I'm kind of a barbecue fanatic after living in Kansas City for a while and I'm not sure but Famous Dave's may have had the best barbecue I've eaten outside of Missouri.
It's not their meat really, which is excellent just not amazing (get the pork ribs), its their sauce, which is nearly perfect. I've tried pretty much all the barbecue sauces available in the Provo/Orem area and theirs is easily the best.
Also, their service was great and the prices were very reasonable. I only wish they had one in Sacramento. -

"Famous Dave's" reminds me a lot like "Back Forty Texas BBQ" in Pleasant Hill & San Ramon in California, but the food is better! The sides were good and the slices of briskets were tender & bloody, just the way I like them! The best part of "Famous Dave's" was the variety of steak sauces you could try out; such as Rich or Hot & Sassy, Sweet & Zesty, Devil Spit, Texas Pit, Sassy Chipotle, Georgia Mustard and Apricot Bourbon.
I came here on a Halloween night and the workers were all dressed up in their costumes. They were humorous, kind and friendly to their customers; especially to the children who happened to have dinner here after going trick-or-treating that evening. The prices were affordable; making it a fun, delicious and satisfying dining experience. -

The food is hit or miss here. Much of the BBQ'ed meats are quite good and the sauces are better than average, but the vegetables and all the sides except the french fries are terrible. The atmosphere is the worst part of the experience. It is horribly loud! Plus they have this hokey famous theme were everything is famous this and famous that. However, once you get past the sonic onslaught and goofy theme the wait staff is usually quite good.

My favorite restaurant chain. Go for the sauces.

As fast food joints go, this place is alright. I only had the opportunity to sample the chopped pork sandwich, which featured nice tender pork and a sweet, spicy sauce. Service is prompt and friendly and the menu has options to please all palates (except, perhaps, vegetarians). If you find yourself in the area in need of a good lunch option, this place warrants your consideration.

Not a big fan of the menu, food, or the chain. It's a BBQ joint but the BBQ is not great & the brisket is sub par. I've been here more times than I care to admit (on business) but have not found anything that I like more than the cornmeal muffins.

I would have given it two stars but or waitress was one of the best I have ever had so they get three stars. The food is just ok, I don't know why so many people come here. The only things I would want from here again are the beans and corn bread.
