I've always enjoyed this location. I've been to a few other Famous Dave's in the Twin Cities, but overall, I would say this location is pretty spot on!
I've always gotten the brisket, almost every time I've ever come to one of locations.. it never fails! It is just that good. The overall experience at this restaurant is pretty good also! The amount of food you get is a lot. I can never finish my meals! I guess that is good though, oh.. and I love corn bread, so the fact that they give me a little muffin with my meals, makes me even more happier!
I would agree with Kendra and go as far to say, that I actually think their side items are from a cafeteria! They really aren't' that good at all. I mean, whenever I've gotten fries, they've been hot and fresh, but other than that.. I don't even bother.
Then it is funny too.. I've always come here on the Fishing opener, so I don't actually know if this place is THAT busy all the time, or just on the big weekend.. OK I guess that's not too funny... but interesting! -

Fun Northwoods decor. Ususally very busy in the height of tourist season. It looks out onto beautiful Round Lake. All the other Dave's locations don't have that! The walleye sandwich is very good. As is the brisket. Thay have a number of selections for side dishes, all are tasty. My draft Leinie's showed up a little warm at the table, but other than that, it was a great dinner, service was attentive without being bothersome.
Been coming here since it opened and is always one of the places we hit when in Hayward. -

Always enjoyed this place from the day they opened. However, we went for the Sunday brunch and was very disappointed. They ran out of potatoes, butter for the waffles, the fruit salad and the rib tips had a ketchup taste. The other foods were in short supply as well and the quality was lacking. Also it appears that the hostess was being coached not to seat people even though tables were open. I saw Dave's lady companion tell her that she was "doing a good job of slowing things down". I will not return for the bunch ever again, I will cautiously try a dinner there in hopes that the brunch is not a indicator of a total collapse in service and quality.

On a summer evening this place is hopping. Grub served here no where compares to what you get at chain locations. Families consume most of the tables while teens are hanging outside near the water. People in for the week to play at their cabins are propped up at the bar. Be ready for a wait for a table, but waiting at the bar with a honeyweiss ain't shabby. The ribs are delicious no matter what sauce you pair it with. Cafeteria food is how I would describe their sides options.. so why not just order more meat!!
Need a place to watch fireworks? Bring a chair, claim a spot early, and enjoy a Midwest evening. -

This place ruined me for the other Famous Dave's locations! The rib tips were the meatiest I've ever had and had tons of flavor, great char, and were actually quite tender. The waiter we had (forget his name, but he lived in Minnesota and works there for the summer)..he was a joy to be around. Very attentive, friendly, and hospitable.
I have to have an excuse to head up to northern Wisconsin more often just for this place alone! -

The original Famous Dave's located on Round Lake, make it a point to visit in the summer.
We take our boat over to Famous Dave's, dock at one of their slips, and then sit out on the patio looking west over a bay on Round Lake. I've always been a fan of their ribs and sauce.
The Sunday brunch is a gut buster and a few special items are worth noting. The caramel rolls are world class and the pecan syrup for the French toast is unreal. Omelet bar is always great and the coffee is pretty good. We only hit the brunch once a year as it is so over the top in terms of quantity and calories but it is worth it.
Watch their website for live music and other events. -

I have to say, I had such high expectations for this place, being the original Famous Dave's in the chain. It's a perfect stop on the way to the cabin just in town, and the two times I've been, it's less than desirable. Somehow each time I've been I've had the same underachieving server. Ask for a fork, and you'll have to ask someone else. Order some water, and you'll have to flag the host. In a hurry, then you'll have to keep driving past this place.
The food is pretty standardized if you've been to any other Dave's location. Personally, I'm not big into BBQ style, but it suffices. Get the wild rice soup and a corona -

We were up for the weekend and decided to stop in for the Sunday brunch. It was awesome! Who can resist bbq and breakfast food, together at last in one fabulous buffet. Plus, if you have a boat, you can sail on in. I'm already trying to plan when we can come back and bring our friends.

Friday Night Fish Fry Buffet $13.99. We are up for a mini-vacation and noticed that Famous Daves had a fish fry; salad, coleslaw, potato salad, clam chowder, mixed veggies, mashed potatoes w/gravy, fried chicken, rib tips, catfish fingers and lake perch. The lake perch and the catfish are very lightly breaded and cooked to perfection, the best we've ever had and we've been at this for a long time! Excellent!!!!!
Sunday brunch is really good too. Dave was there when we were having brunch, checking out the buffet and made himself a plate. That's why the food is so good...the boss is around! -

We had a late lunch here on Saturday July 27th. Three of our four entrees were great. The only "miss" was a nachos plate that we all summarized as a disgusting mess - total grease! My chicken was as tasty as any I've had in my life. I'd like to go back on a Friday night - for $12.95 they have a buffet which includes all- you-can-eat salad bar, fish, chicken and beef brisket. Awesome location right on a lake with a large outdoor dining-drinking area.
