Yes I know what you are thinking. Why write about the same restaurant (different location from 1st review), on the same day, and with the same rating?

Because I just so happened to love the first time that I needed to have more. Call me greedy, but I did stop by this establishment within one weeks time of my first experience. They are currently having their BUCK-A-BONE special and you can not beat an almost $10 dollar savings for half a slab of ribs.

This time around the experience was take out and lunch time. Parking for carry out sits right next to handicapped, and the lunch line starts when the doors open at 11AM. All carry- out accoutrements abound with sauce individually packaged like salad dressing (but only Rich and Sassy and Devil's Spit).

The brisket was a definite winner even after being consumed 45minutes later. The kiddos all loved the "Bis-ket". The brisket platter is 1/2 lb. of meat sliced just right thickness with good flavor even without extra sauce. Platter comes with corn and corn bread and two sides.

The whole experience set me back $20 for two entrees( if you call the half slab of ribs an entree) and sides. It also allowed me peace of mind knowing I can dine with the kiddies and not have to worry about breaking out the benadryl for their allergies.

I'll be the first to admit that the decor here is super tacky. Oh did I mention that I'm not a big fan of barbeque sauce? Yep.

Husband and I were starving and were conveniently in the strip mall where the restaurant is located. We walked in and were seated immediately. Our server was really nice, brought our drinks really fast, and didn't seem overly annoying at all. I ordered one of the few things that didn't come with barbeque sauce - a burger. It was big, came with fries, and was really tasty. Usually, I rarely order anything other than salads. But that day I was in a burger-kind-of-mood. I was pretty stuffed by the end of the meal but I still had a tiny space in my large stomach for one of their mini deserts - mini bread pudding. It was just the perfect size. It was a square of bread pudding in a cup with a small scoop of ice cream and a tiny bit of whipped cream.

Honestly, I don't know if I'll be coming back any time soon, but for the barbeque lovers out there, give this place a chance.

Back when I was a carnivore, even the mention of this place would make my mouth water. The ribs here are awesome! The bbq sauce is perfect. I could do without the sides, though. They're the exact opposite of the ribs -- taste like instant/from a box and very flavorless.

The service here varies each time we would visit; some days it'd be the most attentive service, other times we had to wait around forever for our check or for service. It's the luck of the draw, really.

Parking can be a pain, as the lot is always full, but which is a good sign that the food is tasty!

They took my barbecue sauce at the airport! I tried to sneak it in my carry on bag and they classified it as "liquid". The TSA guy had to open my bag and take it out. I'm certain that he took it home to pour it on his chicken. I personally think that BBQ sauce isn't liquid because it's thick. But I digress, I'm here to write a review!  I got the sauce as a gift from the manager at Famous Dave's. It was our first visit and they really showed us a good time. The food was pretty good, the service was great. The ribs were by far the tastiest meat on the plate. The potato salad was a little heavy on the celery, but the cinnamon apples were just right! I also liked the cornbread and mini ear of corn. I think overall since this is a chain restaurant, everything can't be amazing, but they were definitely pretty good. Give 'em a try!

This place ROCKS!!!! If your in the neighborhood and have the mood for some good ole' barbeque, come to famous daves. If your with a group of 4 or more, get the garbage platter. It has ribs, chicken, brisket, french fries, corn muffins, corn on the cob, cole slaw, and baked  beans.... once again I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!

So I previously wrote how much I love this place, but this last visit this past Sunday afternoon kinda changed my mind. The food is still good, but the service was horrible! Let me talk about the good 1st. We ordered a new appetizer called not'chos. It's just a nacho salad with pulled pork meat. (You can get chicken meat as well.) It's new on the menu so we decided to try it and it was actually good. Never had nachos with pulled pork so it was different. Now on to the bad stuff. Our waitress was also the bartender so of course we didn't get attended. She had to make drinks left and right for all the other customers in the restaurant. I don't really blame her cuz it's not her fault if she was assigned to do both jobs. However, I couldn't even find the manager to let him know that the service we were NOT getting sucked! Our food took forever to come out. The entrees were brought to us 3 minutes after our appetizer came. Other waitresses brought out our food to us and nobody ever checked on us to see if we needed anything after we finally got our food. It was just bad service all around. I really enjoy their food so I'll still come, but I'll just come on the weeknights so it's not so busy.

The weather outside was frightful, so we decided to get delightful with margaritas and BBQ!

Not being one for chained restaurants, I tried to go in with a positive attitude and [gasp!] I was pleasantly surprised.

They had fantastic ribs that fell off the bone and you could pour on the sauce, since they had all different kinds sitting right there for your use.

They had great firecracker green beans and yummy garlic mashed potatoes, but the margarita was where it was at for me.

It came in a huge fishbowl sized cup, and lots of salt, just the way I like it.

All in all a good way to warm up on a frigid day!

Fantastic BBQ! I like the ambience of the restaurant too. It's very southern and makes me want to order a sweet tea when ever I go there.

Sauce is fabulous. I also really like that they have like 5 different versions of sauce to try or add to your meal.

My favorites are..

Rib Tips..OMG good!
Ribs in general
BBQ chicken
Hot Links
pork brisqut

corn bread
adult macncheese
cole slaw
beans
FRENCH FRIES
onion strings

Those are some of the things I have ordered in the past...and all of which I have a hard time choosing between every time I go there.

I really like the feast that feeds 2-3 people or if dining with more...go with the larger platter. It's a great way to sample things and is probably around the same price as if you ordered seperate.

Kids meals are nice sized and come with oreo cookies for the kids. My kids love the ribs here, so they always go for the rib kids meal.

Sorry Smoquee, although you are in my neighborhood...I would rather take the drive and get some real good BBQ.

I think this place is pretty good, considering it is a franchise.  The food is tasty, and there are about four different BBQ sauces on the table to suit your taste (spicy, smoky, sweet, etc.).

We usually order the family feast. It is whimsically served in a paper-lined garbage can lid.  It comes with ribs, chicken, and your choice of a third meat (brisket or ham) with sides of potatoes, beans, coleslaw and corn.  Corn muffins are for dessert.  This whole thing feeds four to six people and costs about $50.  You can also order different items a la carte, and they have sandwiches and a kids menu as well. Everything is available for carry out. Give it a try.

Had very low expectations of this place and was pleasantly surprised.  First, didn't know they have a bar (there is not one beer sign in the window!).  Second, didn't realize that the food would be as good as it was.  I had a cajun chicken sandwich (topped with french fried onion strings and remolade sauce) and garlic red-skinned mashed potatoes.  It was great.  Other half had one of their pork sandwich specials (pork loin with cheese and a bbq mustard dipping sauce) with roasted potatoes with mushrooms.

We ate in the bar (although walked through the whole place to see the other rooms; like the fact that it's not one big room but divided up into themed spaces; bar is like a jazz motif; next room is like a fishing lodge; back room is like a garage and other side of that is like Mom's Southern Style restaurant motif.) and the bartender (Amanda) was great.  She's been there since they opened over 6 years ago (my bad to have not tried it before now).  She was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave her personal recommendations for dinner.

Needless to say, we will be back there to try other things on the menu.  Neither of us are huge rib or BBQ fans so all the other things on the menu are appealing.

Dammit!! MMMMMMMMMMM!!! I was on a business trip up in Chitown. The People I was there to see took me to this spot for smoose luncheon. Oh boy oh boy was it good. We got this meal on a big tin trash can lid. This thing was full of food Corn bread, beans, coleslaw, brisket, chicken, baby backs, corn on the cob and about 5 different BBQ sauces to sample from. The devil spit flavor was my favorite. It is sweet and fools you at first but give it a minute and it kicks your ass. Fantastic! The staff was great comfy level was a 9. really friendly folks. I had to go back and eat there one more time before i left. One great thing about this spot is there is a few in Cali. the closest one to me is Ontario or Long Beach. Very good shite. Hell yeh!

Add Devil's Spit to your fries... dig into the American Feast platter that's supposed to feed 4 but can really satisfy 6... and you are going to be popping your buttons soon.

Corn bread = good. Beef brisket = !!!. Ribs come off the bone.

Some of the best ribs I've had for the price... though I'm not big on ribs, so I like the chicken there, too.

Boo@closing at 10. What is up with that? You can shop at the mall nearby to work up an appetite if need be.

Tons of parking. Waitress was a bit weird last time, but still nice.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. I don't eat here often because every time I do, I end up rolling out the door.

I usually get the meal where you can choose two meats and I go for the ribs and pulled pork. It comes with a really tasty cornbread muffin, beans and corn on the cob.

I love the sweet n sassy barbecue sauce the best, but when I'm feeling funky, I'll combine a little of each.

I just wish barbecue was better for you. I'd eat here so much more.

Great service and friendly staff  ... what a change from some of the last places we've been at!!
We were asked when we were being seated if this was our first time dining with them.... which was my first, not the Mr's,  Our first experience here was very welcoming as the staff was sure to help introduce us to all the specialty sauces with a complimentary basket of fries and also pointed out their specialty beverages.  Which by the way, our waitress was awesome!  She was quick to refill our beverages, suggested an alcoholic drink I really enjoyed and continued to make sure our dining experience was great!

The food was really good and we had plenty of it!

At the end of our meal, the manager came over to our table with a "welcome" package which included more information about their restaurant as well as a bottle of their BBQ sauce!

We'll definitely be returning again!

C'mon ... there are still a few good places to eat out there ... just have to suffer the bad ones first!

While the food was outstanding, our group of 16 had just about the worst service EVER at this Famous Dave's. Even though we called ahead and were assured that tables would be made available, we waited over 90 minutes to be seated. The only friendly person--including the hostesses, our server and even the manager--was the one who screwed up our drink order no less than three times. You'd have thought our waitress was in for a mandatory gratuity the way she ignored us; gratuity was not included, and because we tipped lower based on her crap service we were probably chastised for being "cheap".

But she wasn't just surly; she was dense. After waiting 30 min. for the check. We still left a fair tip of cash and instructed the server to charge 30 apiece (or something similar) to each of three credit cards. This was complicated , admittedly, but not rocket science.

She came back, 15 minutes later, freaking out. "You only have $68 left to put on the cards," she said, annoyed. We tried, but she didn't understand the concept of ringing up the cards first and kept saying that she *couldn't* do it that way, then admitted that it was because she had already started it by ringing the cash first. We had to spell it out, in pen and paper for her, and only then did she get her manager who figured it out for her. He never apologized. It took us nearly an hour between needing the check and finally getting it settled.

Famous Dave's is a favorite of mine, but I will never return to this location.

delicious bbq.

i've only been to the one out in bolingbrook since its by my boyfriends parents house but it is some of the best rib tips i've had. although they are not consistant from day to day they are through out your meal. the sauce is awesome and its supper cheap considering all you get when you get the meal, corn muffin, 2 sides and plenty of meat.

I used to drop by this place after half days substitute teaching right after I graduated.  The menu doesn't stray at all from BBQ, but why should it.  The combination plates are great and the bill is never overwhelming.

so we went here for my birthday the other night and chowed down on some beefy goodness.  for a chain, the ribs are good.  a choice of different sauces are laid out on the table.  i suggest the feast on the garbage can lid for parties of 3 or more.  it's a kinda like a sampler of all the different things they offer.  my 2 cents... stick w/ the ribs instead of the brisket.

ok im not a fan of "chains" but if every chain was like this i would look like mr T... the service was great, the prices were great, and the choice of 6 different bbq sauces on the table was to die for. the bbq ribs, the pulled pork, the chicken, and the bacon on the chicken sandwich was super good, all recommended... also the sides i ordered the beans(GOOD), the mac and cheese(just ok), and i had some of my gf fries(GREAT)...dessert i had the brownie with ice cream, my god dont let the picture fool you, its huge(good for 2 people)!!! i am going to be back here, the burger looked really good. so  anyone who didnt want to come here just because its a chain( i was one of them ) please dont let that stop you from coming here.
oh 1 complaint, i didnt care to much for the lemonade, kinda tasted like pixie stick water...

I like Famous Dave's, but I  don't care for this location. The one in Vernon Hills, IL is much better and friendlier. I think they give you lots of food and their prices aren't that bad for the amount of food you get. I especially love their buffalo wings with bleu cheese dressing and their catfish fingers the most. The sides are decent too, especially the beans and loaded baked potato. I'm not a big fan of their ribs, but I enjoy dining there with my family.
