My kitty Cali is the Marley of the cat world. We rescued her from an overcrowded home in early July and has brought so much joy and fun to our lives!

I chose Family Vet after I watched the promotional video on the website. I liked how she was also very close to my house so it was literally a five minute drive. I took Cali in for her first vet visit two weeks after we got her and was immediately impressed with how nice the reception area was and how friendly Marissa was, the receptionist and one of the techs. Dr. Chau was also very friendly and just had a very nice, relaxed, and sweet demeanor that I felt very comfortable with. Cali was given a clean bill of health and we went home. About a week later, I had to rush her to the vet cuz the little monster got into my birthday flowers, which happened to be stargazer lilies. Most cats die after eating lilies because they don't exhibit symptoms right away and the first 72 hours are critical. Luckily, I caught her literally moments after she ate them but Dr. Chau and her team pretty much saved Cali's life. They took so many precautions and were awesome in keeping me updated on her progress. Dr.Chau even told me that she was probably going a bit overboard in the followups because she wasn't able to save 2 other cats to lilies before, so she wanted to be absolutely certain that Cali was ok. Our little monster is down to 8 lives now, but Cali is officially Dr. Chau's first lily survivor!

I highly recommend Family Vet and trusting Dr. Chau and her team for your pet's care!

They are very friendly here to both us humans and our cats. They provided a much more comprehensive analysis of our cats' health issues than our previous vet and prescribed a great new food. The results are fantastic and the cats are now racing around the house like happy kittens and jumping up on the kitchen counter like they used to do.

I'm not really sure how their prices compare to other local vets, but they are close enough to tolerate all the yelling during the short car ride over there. (The cats yell, not the humans.)

Dr. Chau and the whole staff at Family Vet Hosptial of Stone Ridge are absolutely wonderful. Everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable and their clinic is bright, inviting and clean.
I switched over to Dr. Chau because she opened up her office literally 5 minutes down the road from my house, her clinic used a certain brand of vaccine that I wanted (one that doesn't cause serious side effects like another one that my dog was scheduled to receive),  and I had heard good things about her.
So, I finished up my 4 month old min pin's vaccines there and then I got her spayed 2 months later. They were great! Informative, and caring.
I also think it is wonderful that they have so many services available for general wellness as well as rehabilitative services. Finally, being a Chinese medical practitioner myself I was impressed to see that they also offer acupuncture and herbal formulas. I love this! Seeing a veet integrate western and eastern medical therapies was great to see, it really shows that they care about your animals quality of life by providing preventative care that doesn't always involve some kind of shot or surgery!

I would recommend the Family Vet of Stone Ridge to everyone!

According to the kitties, this is their favorite vet so far. Close proximity to the house--easy with the treats...the best!

I've come to decide there are positives and negatives about this practice and staff (as there are most places). For routine pet care they are fine. The staff is sometimes friendly and sometimes indifferent. The last time I spoke with a vet tech she didn't have a full grasp on the issue facing my dog, which was certainly frustrating.

History

Established in 2008

Family Vet was established by Dr. Chau and her husband, both natives of Loudoun County (having attended Broad Run High School.)  They created a practice that clients and staff would enjoy coming to, so they took a lot of inspiration from award-winning hospitals nationwide.  The hospital features a large reception area with plenty of natural light.  Loudoun Times Mirror reviewed the business and pricing and determined that pricing was competitive with other vet hospitals in the area.  AngiesList gave it their highest rating, and awarded the Super Service Award to Family Vet above all other vets in the entire DC metro area.  Dr. Chau is "Vet Guru" for I Am Modern Magazine (a DC publication) and was named a Top Vet in Virginia by Virginia Living Magazine.

The warm hospitality of the staff, the comfortable design of the hospital, all contribute to the quality that we wanted in establishing Family Vet.  We hope you'll come by and visit, or visit our website at www.family-vet.com.

Meet the Business Owner: Dr. Hanh C.

Dr. Chau went to school in Loudoun and Fairfax, and later received degrees from George Mason University and her doctorate from Virginia Tech.  She has a passion to help animals, and says she knew from a very early age that she wanted to become a vet.

Dr. Chau has had many pets in her lifetime, from dogs to cats, fish to birds, and even an iguana she raised to become 4-feet long.  She was chosen for an externship at an avian research center in Wisconsin, and later, regularly substituted at an avian specialist clinic in Northern Virginia after graduation.  While working as a veterinarian consultant at almost 2 dozen vet clinics and hospitals in VA, MD and DC, Dr. Chau pursued even more advanced skills after receiving her doctorate, and became certified in Acupuncture as well as Rehabilitation Therapy.  She also received specialized training in heart echocardiograms by ultrasound, as well as endoscopy.
