Hit up Fallbrook golf course with some friends today for a day of golfing.

The place was quite a drive for us, as we were coming from the coast, but it was well worth the trip.

The grounds have beautiful scenery and wildlife, as it is located in a sheltered area with not much commercial development. Lots of trees, plants and wildlife can be found along the routes as you make your way through the 18 holes. We saw red-headed acorn woodpeckers, ducks, rabbits, squirrels and a few other critters.

The course itself has somethin for all skill-levels of golfers. There's some short holes, there's some long ones, there's some straight shots, there's some dogleg holes & there's even holes cluttered with multiple hazards along the way.

We really enjoyed our day there and the way the course played. It was a beautiful day out & this rural atmosphere was the perfect place to spend the day in the sun with a round of golf.

The atmosphere is pretty chill and laid back, although they did enforce the collared shirt policy on us when we showed up in t-shirts. No biggie as we brought some collared shirts just in case.

There weren't that many people on the course, which is another good point about this club, it's not overly crowded or packed with people.

Overall we had a great time and will definitely be going back.

Play here about once a year, long drive but it's worth it! If you are a beginner, the first hole is a little intimidating. Hitting over a hwy, and water on the right side. But it gets fun after that. Back nine is a lot different than the front nine. Has a very nice restaurant, service is nice also.

I was a golf starter here for 6 years during high school and some of college... if you played golf here, you checked in with me, paid me, and I called you to the tee.

I remember Ruggy's grandpa coming in here all the time! He played a lot. Which means I probably saw a wee Ruggy playing some of his first golf at this course. Precious!

My craziest memory of this place (and there are many) was the day a poor golfer dropped dead of a heart attack on the course... it was halloween, of course. And because he happened to do it on the 16th hole, which is flush with the road coming in to the parking lot, people saw his body laying there and thought it was a joke. They came into the pro shop guffawing loudly, complimenting us on our silly prank. Boy were they upset when they found out it was noooo jooooke. Oh, and I don't know if you have ever had the pleasure of dialing 911 in an emergency, but this was my first time having to do so... I was horrified to get a continued busy signal.

Anyhoo! The few emergencies aside, this was a fun, chill place to work. I loved it. Good thing it was so far away from where I was living once I started college, tho- otherwise I might still be there, ha!

This is the FIRST golf course I ever played at when I was 12 years old. My grandpa bought me some golf clubs from a thrift store, then had 'em cut down to fit my height...so I wasn't swinging around a set of over-sized broomsticks on the links.

Fallbrook Golf Club holds a special place in my heart because I remember the good times I had with my gramps back in the early-mid 90's. We made a deal that we'd play golf with each other at least once a week. We kept true to that pact for almost six years. Unfortunately, I live a little ways away from him now and his health is deteriorating, so our outings are few-and-far between.

Reminiscing aside, it's not just nostalgia that keeps me coming back to Fallbrook G.C., it's actually a pretty fun course! It's affordable (I think twilight rates begin at about $25), it's scenic, and the back 9 is really challenging. I highly recommend you visit this place for a little change-of-pace from the typical treks to Riverwalk or Balboa. Tony Gwynn does it, you should too! I saw him there one time and nearly crapped my nickers.

When you finish a round at Fallbrook, do what I used to do with my grandpa, and get a refreshing Roy Rogers at the 19th hole :)
