My family and I eat at FCRH quite a bit as we live close by. There have been various experiences over the past year and half or so that we have been eating at the roadhouse. One thing people should realize is that they are supporting a local business, not a mega chain. Since we have been eating at the FCRH, I've noticed that they do some things really well (Steak Sandwich, Duck, Breakfast) and others have have not been to that same standard. However, over the past few months I can say they have taken feedback, made changes and we've been able to tell from our recent visit there late last week.

For us, we like going back because we enjoy the food, the atmosphere is great, and our kids love it. While it's easy to be critical online, how many people actually provide direct feedback to the chef or managment?

I received the following message from their chef
"We had a epic fail with your visit.  I remember you and I also remember that you did not pay for your meal.  It is unfortunate that you did not mention this in your review.  I do however hope that when you are in the area you try us again, I would like to personally shake your hand and thank you for your honest review of your experience.
Chef Cameon
Fall city Roadhouse and Inn"

Indeed, but it is not that I did not pay. I gave my credit card and it was then that I was informed that it was Roadhouse Inn who voided the bill. It's sad that your message seems to have a rather accusing tone and it's a shame that even weeks after my visit it comes to remind the bitter experience.

Breakfast was great!!
I had regular eggs Benedict...one of the best I have ever had.

Service sucked, which is the reason for 3 stars.  When we walked in most their tables were open, but we were told we had to wait because two parties had come in just before us and she didn't want to overwhelm the servers.

If I could give this no stars, I would.

My boyfriend and I were starving after a day of helping me move into my new home one block from this "fine establishment."

He'd been here 2 times before with a very marginal opinion of the place, but anyone who knows this area realizes there really aren't too many options, minus driving 30+ minutes roundtrip to a neighboring city.

After being seated, it took a good 5 minutes before we even saw a server come to our table. While we stared at the seemingly overpriced lack of choices that was the menu, our server brought us our drinks and then disappeared for another 10 minutes.

We decided to take a tour of the "Small Plates" which I can only assume is their version of appetizers.

So we waited. And waited. And waited some more.

We arrived at the restaurant at 7:01pm, and food was not set down in front of us until 7:55pm. We were starving when we got there, imagine how it felt having to wait almost an hour to get our food when it appeared that only one other table was dining.

Our $9 ribs were charred and each of the 6 ribs was about an inch long. A 5 year old wouldn't have been full by eating this.

The tandoori chicken skewers were so dry and overcooked, you almost needed the jaws of life to get it off the skewer.

The nachos with chorizo and chicken seemed to be missing the chorizo and were so overdone and charred it made me wonder how they managed to be cold upon arriving at our table.

The iced tea was decent, but $3.50 for a small glass, when you're lucky to see the waiter once for a refill? Give me a damn break.

To their credit, the $6 onion rings were not only fairly priced for the generous portion, but the taste and consistency were really delicious. Too bad I'll never be back to enjoy them.

After some discontented eating and discussion, we arrived at the conclusion that we didn't want to pay for 3 of the dishes we ordered. The waitress brought over the manager after about 5 minutes, and we were greeted by a woman with a scowl upon her face as if we were inconveniencing her.

As I described our situation, she just seemed incredibly bitchy and annoyed by us. It was as if she were accusing us of simply not wanting to pay our bill. She literally counted in front of us the amount of items we'd eaten off of each unsatisfactory dish. Had we not been starving & pissed off from waiting so long for our food, we wouldn't have touched a thing.

Another 15 minutes later (no joke - she apparently had to discuss the issue with HER manager via phone), she only took off $16 dollars of the $35 worth of food that was nearly worthless.

Way to make your customer feel like you cared.

This place is outrageously overpriced, lacking options, poorly run, and destined to fail if this is a typical day in the Fall City Roadhouse. Don't say I didn't warn you.

*** Updated Review ***
After some time from my 1st visit I went again and I have to admit that the service improved a lot. The food still good and the desserts still excellent as usual but the service was different this time. timely and efficient is a good description so I will give another star, keep it up folks!

*** Original Review (3 stars) ***

A brand new restaurant in the area which has a perfect location (close to the river) and an interesting offer for lunch and dinner.

I had the Rib & Cheddar Sandwich which was very good, and my partner ordered the Halibut Sandwich which was excellent.

Besides the service which was not good, including an asian guy who looks like is a manager which was walking all over the place looking at people eating which was annoying at least for me; I will visit this place again because the food and specially the dessert.

The Creme Brulee w/ lavender tuile was awesome, I will say the best Tuile that I had ever!

I think the restaurant's offer is good (price/quality) and the best are the desserts (congratulations to the pastry cheff).

This time we went back for breakfast and it was fantastic! I had a feta, tomato, spinach omelet - great flavor, toast was was done perfectly, coffee was great. Overall it was a great breakfast experience. I think The Road House has a better breakfast vibe than dinner vibe, the place was really busy and it just feels like a breakfast diner. We will go back for breakfast!

This place is soooooooo LOUD for dinner. It reminded me of being at La Carta de Oaxaca. The conversation between my husband and I went something like this
"What???"
"What?!?!"
"What? I can't hear you!"

So we gave up on conversation and just ate.

I'd like to say our service was great. The server said the chipotle wings were her favorite appetizer so we tried it. One thing I should learn by now is to not trust the taste buds of young kids. It was way too salty for my taste.  The server noticed I took only one bite and asked how I liked it and I told her I didn't. And she graciously took it and said it would be removed from the bill. The manager or owner came out and to check up on us and to apologize and I told him what why I didn't like the dish. He appreciated the feedback. He was very concerned and friendly.

I had the shrimp caeser salad. The shrimp was very well done. The dressing was just OK. My husband had the turkey reuben and really enjoyed it.

We will come back here again to try something different. I would love to try their breakfast brunch. The price for the food isn't too bad and seems very reasonable. The quality is great.  It's just that I wasn't too impressed with the flavors of what I had.

I hope to raise this to 4 or 5 stars after our next experience.

we went here intending to go to happy hour, as it said on their website until 6pm. we race from issaquah to get there in time and find that it now ends at 5pm. ok.. but we still wanted to try the food. the calamari was very good, not overly fried or greasy. the fries were really good too but our sandwich was just ok.  i was expecting a meaty Ruben and there was maybe 4-5 slices, mostly swiss cheese and barely any sauerkraut or 1000 island.  we were also charged $2 for sharing a sandwich and we weren't told about, which i think is ridiculous. prices are a bit high. service was quick and our server was very nice (in the bar). nice atmosphere for cold winter nights.  will be back again for another try soon!

Great food! And that's really what matters most to me. A full service bar, seperate lounge and dining area. It's NOT a chain and every aspect of the establishment is kind of unique. They did an awesome job on the renovating the original building. Here is a winner for sure!

They did a wonderful job on the renovations. They really go for local food and produce, which I love. Great ambiance, fabulous food. Parking can be an issue.

This restaurant serves local produce and cheeses. The steaks are cooked the way they are requested- I had mine medium-rare and came out as ordered. We love the decor.  We have even purchased gift-certificates and our friends have mentioned how much they enjoy the restaurant too. The Roadhouse adds a wonderful new dimension to Fall City dining!!

Completely renovated over a two year period, we've watched what was previously the Colonial Inn transform.  Apparently the location was featured in "Twin Peaks" as the outside shots for "The Roadhouse" hence the name.  The Kid-friendly and billed as "upscale casual" the Executive Chef Cameon Orel is a Culinary Institute graduate and previously Executive Chef at The Cafe @ Carillon Point.  Food was above average and staff were great for ramping up effort in its first week.

For an appetizer the Salt & Pepper Fried Calimari was very well done- not too greasy or heavy on salt and the pepper provided the right snap.  My wife had the Halibut- good but lacked enough seasoning.  I had the Rib Dip w/ Cheddar & Au Jus.  It was also very good though the waiter wasn't sure exactly what the "Rib" was - thinly sliced roast beef IMO when I was expecting shaved hunks of Prime Rib.  The french fries were fresh cut and hearty but could have used a few minutes in the Fryer.

We towed a 1yo and 5yo with us and they were greeted warmly with kids menus.  Crayons or kids playbook would be a nice touch in future.  Our 5yo got the Mini Mac & Cheese and liked it but was very bland and requested salt twice.  The cupcake at the end for the kids was a nice touch, chocolate but a bit bitter and the cake too dense for kid-size tastes.

My only real complaint is the cost and almost gave it three stars for it. With tip, over $70 for two adults and one child.  Still, I look forward to trying it again once the staff and menu are a little more seasoned.

Wow!  I don't know what everyone is bashing out there, I've been to the FC Roadhouse now like 4 times and have had exceptional service every time!  Food has been awesome and the staff & manager very gracious.  I had their Cheeseburger the first time, and it was fabulous.  Fries done to perfection, meet cooked perfectly and moist.  Drinks ice cold and to the brim.  Atmosphere cozy, homey and going with my favorite comfort food.  The next time, I had their fish, again, perfect.  It's like a mixture of comfort food served with style.

The only bummer we experienced was when we went in after a hike @ 8:30 at night on a Sunday, and it was a 45 minute wait to get in.  If we didn't have our kids with us, it would have been worth the wait in the bar.  Looked like a lively crowd for a Sunday!  The manager offered us a glass of wine and apologized for the wait.  ARE YOU KIDDING!  Where else would you get that kind of service and accomodations!?!

I say, great place, lots of fun, good eats and I don't have to wear a dress to go there....  I can actually feel like a 'Seattle native' in this place.

This place is just... very odd.

God knows Fall City/Carnation/Preston needs a decent casual place for a business breakfast/lunch.  The Roadhouse isn't it.

The service is so bad that it is distracting.  Shockingly so.  The specials are listed on a big chalkboard that hangs on the wall but the servers are required to lift the board off the wall and take it to each table to use it as show-and-tell.  Truly bizarre.

The noise level was really high, even at 10am on a Sunday, especially with a server barking out 'Corner!' every time he walked down the hall to the bar/kitchen/bathroom.

The food was fine, but a poor value.  $11 for an omelet?  $18 for the steak-and-egg special?  $3.50 for coffee?  I heard 3 separate tables complain about the coffee price, which is NOT listed on the menu.  Illy coffee?  Who cares.  It's Fall City.  For nearly the same price, I could drive 3 miles and have a sublime experience at the Salish OR for half the price, I could walk down to the Raging River, where the food is just as good and the experience was at least competent.

My french toast was fine, but the syrup was served in a scalding hot bowl with no handle with which to pour, and the inside of which was encrusted with what looked like last night's mustard from dinner service.

This place seemed like it was run by someone who had never worked in the food industry before.  I feel bad for the servers/hostess, since they are the face of this nuthouse.

I was SO sad that they have gotten this SO wrong.  We need a mid-range restaurant in this area so badly.
