Absolutely breathtaking scenery here at Falkner and very friendly faces all around, honestly this place does not get enough attention. Wine tastings here are fairly affordable at about $15 per and certain days I believe you can use the BOGO coupons to make it even sweeter. Great place to grab a glass and just wander in amazement, and a nice place to relax if you head toward the back and visit the patio and outdoor wine bar.
As many others mentioned the Luscious Lips should not be overlooked nor the Riesling. Great ending to a long day of wine tasting definitely one of the go-to wineries.

I highly recommend trying the Luscious lips wine. Soooo good!
It is about $10 per person for wine tasting. -

My friend had to do a photo shoot of Ray Falkner for San Diego magazine and he asked me to tag along to assist him. After the shoot we stayed and sampled the wines.
For $15 you get 7 tastings and a logo wine glass. Having never been to a winery before I'm not sure if this is a good deal or on par, but it seemed like a good deal to me. I got to try some varieties I've never had the opportunity to try before and compare to some of my usual varieties. Their 2006 merlot was good, I wasn't really impressed by the Cab Sauv, it was a little too fruity for my taste and didn't have a nice bite at the finish that I like out of a Cab Sauv. Also less than impressive was the port, though this might be because I usually drink a 10-year tawny when I have the option.
My top picks were the 2006 Amante - Super Tuscan and the 2006 Syrah. I wish I had planned ahead and brought more cash with me as I would have grabbed a mixed case to take home with me as they were 30% off. I settled for a bottle of each. The Amante was $10-off too. -

Falkner Winery should definitely be on your wine tour, I dare say it should be first. The view is spectacular and welcomes you to Temecula like none other. The staff is friendly and funny. You can taste at one of 2 bars inside or outside. The wines also vary in price, so if you only have 10 bucks to spend, they have a wine for you; if you have $50 to spend, they have that too. I ended up choosing Luscious Lips and with a coupon that they supplied me, I got it for under $10. I was also sent on my way with a recipe for Sangria for said wine, if that's not service, I don't know what is.

This was my favorite place during our (non-formal) Temecula tasting trip. They have some really descent wines. I bought a bottle of the sweet red lips wine. Very tasty and reasonable. There are 2 additional reasons that I love this place so much. 1. Friendliness of the staff. Seriously very nice people. Not snobby at all (which is how some of the other wineries were) We had a very helpful pourer. I don't remember his name, but he has beautiful, 80's rock hair.
2. THE VIEW!!!!!! I like my tasting outside, and this place is gorgeous! We had a great view with the sun setting. So romantic. I will come back when I visit Temecula again. -

Came with co-workers. Most of the wine is just 'ehhh'. Nothing to write home about. Their pours are rather small for the tastings. I have to say the "Hot Lips" concoction was quite a bit more pleasant than I thought it would be. The thought of 'warm wine' just didn't sound appealing but I have to admit the taste was quite pleasant and actually better than the regular wines by themselves.

My wife, mother-in-law, and I decided to take a Saturday and go wine tasting in Temecula. Keeping in mind our last wine tasting tour of Temecula was much like a day at Disneyland: overcrowded and overpriced. This time, we knew we wanted to hit Falkner for their "Hot Lips" wine. When we walked in the winery we must have been the first group in there. The staff was friendly, courteous, and willing to share, a much different attitude than the last trip!
We walked up to the bar, met Fred who serviced us. At first, Fred seemed a little apprehensive to communicate with us about the winery (maybe due to getting set up). As we began our tastings, he picked up on our level of knowledge of wine. We were not your regular "get drunk type on tastings." We actually have developed a palate for wines.
During our tastings, Fred began to share information about the wines, how they are made, mixtures, meanings behind the names, and how the wines are produced. I was impressed at the level of information offered by Fred. At the end of our tastings, Fred introduced us to the Wine Club at Falkner. The selling point of the wine club was that this was a dual membership for the restaurant and the winery. We realized this would be a benefit to us; so we joined the membership. A great addition to our multiple memberships we have.
Thank you Falkner for producing a decent wine and hiring a staff of great people in the winery to meet, greet, and service the patrons. -
Review from Joshua K.
This place was cool as a member since they get their own VIP tasting area away from the commoners.
That said the last couple times I've come here it wasn't as a member and I left totally disappointed.
Case in point: The pours...or lack there of. You basically need to get two pours of a single wine to get the proper pour which is just unacceptable. It's insulting to my first world sensibilities. The value of this winery has dropped like a rock which is now close to rolling into a gutter full of shit.
To add insult to murder: This place can also get very crowded on weekends or become short staffed due to some morons wedding so change your plans before it's too late! -

Only like two of their wines so far. Hot Lips and their Riesling. Been here twice and we were able to get free tastings because we joined their mailing list.

I will never forget my perfect day at Falkner Winery!!! Our wedding was August 13th 2011 and our friends and family are still raving!
From beginning to end everyone involved was spectacular. Loretta (the owner - and the one who will help you through) is extremely attentive, responds to all your concerns immediately, and compared to ALL other Temecula wineries - she is flexible and truly helps in making this be YOUR special day (not some prefabricated line up of what the venue thinks it should be).
Krissy, my coordinator, was spectacular!!!! Cool, calm, collect ... we loved her!
Falkner has it all, good food, great wine, amazing view & a venue like no other..to die for! -

I had my wedding here at the end of May of 2011.
We chose the venue because we absolutely loved the ceremony site-- there are beautiful lush arches leading to the ceremony site that make it so romantic/magical/gorgeous. The reception site was in the Pinnacle restaurant and we had appetizers in their Barrel Room. We got many compliments about how beautiful everything looked and a lot of that can be attributed to Falkner Winery's natural beauty.
We worked closely with Krissy (the on site wedding coordinator) and the owner, Loretta Falkner. Both were a pleasure to work with--were organized for the most part, worked with me to make my day just as I wanted it to be, were flexible and accommodating. They gave me a lot of wine corks for free for decoration when I requested them and they let us use a lot of their decorations. They responded really quickly to emails and answered all the questions I had (there had to be more than 50 questions I asked them as I was planning).
Honestly, my wedding day was nearly perfect and everything went smoothly. The only real complaint I had about Falkner Winery was that they were understaffed and some of our guests did not receive their food until 9PM. I also think the on-site coordinator and owner and chef could have communicated better amongst each other because sometimes it seemed like they had different notes about the wedding. For example, even though we verified with the coordinator, the two entrees we chose for our reception menu actually ended up having the same sauce/marinade (salmon and steak both had a soy glaze marinade) even though we had requested two different sauces. However we were told it was all yummy so it turned out to be okay.
I would overall recommend Falkner Winery. A lot of the way things turn out depend on the organization of the bride as well, so keep that in mind.
Thank you Falkner Winery! -

Our company hosted an employee Christmas party in the VIP (barrel) room at Falkner Winery. The VIP room, quiet and secluded in the basement of the restaurant, was beautifully decorated it for the holidays. The food and wine was outstanding (the encrusted halibut, crab salad and pumpkin tart were the favorites). The staff was friendly and attentive to our large party. Our guests were so pleased and impressed with the event. Thank you Loretta Falkner for putting together a truly memorable event.
Note: We have held our annual Christmas parties at various Temecula wineries over the past 4 years and Falkner Winery was defiinetally our best experience. We look forward to coming back next year. -

My boyfriend and I went to the Wine Tasting Class (4hrs long) cost about $140 and includes a lunch from Pinnacle. George was our wine guide, extremely insightful and informative. We learned how to taste wine, pair wine w/ food, learned wine process, and overall wine background. Their wine tasting room is in the Pinnacle's wine cellar, absolutely romantic! The wine tasting came w/ cheese, fruits, chocolates, meats- which is a plus cuz I love to eat!! Lunch was prepared by Pinnacle. My bf had the Lobster Mac'N Cheese, which was absolutely delicious!! I can't wait to go back to eat that alone! I had the BLAT Bacon,Lettuce,Avocado,Turkey Croissant Sandwich which was really good, their Asian cole slaw sucked. At the end of the class, we were able to keep the wine glasses as souvenirs!! Their wines are a lil bit on the peppery side. We ended up buying 4 bottles.

Great setting - up a hill, nice outside bar/tasting area as well as inside. There is also a restaurant, but we didn't eat there, so no review on that.
Had a 2 for 1 coupon - yeah!!!! Had 5 or 6 tastes for $10 or $5 pp with the coupon. They also gave you a coupone for their sangria, which is good. Only available on the weekends. The white one is good. They also give you recipes for them.
I like a lot of their wines, but didn't buy anything. They were closing down for a wedding that evening, but the server/pourer, Andy, was so great! He was helpful and even gave us an extra little bit of the sangria for my husband who really liked it.
Casual, nice setting. Comfortable. Nice way to end our wine tasting day. -

I came here last summer for my friend's wedding and had a blast!
For MY first anniversary we decided to come back to really taste the wine. I hate to be a downer, but literally as soon as I walked in I slightly pronounced a wine type wrong and our experience was ruined. Instead of respectfully correcting me (I work in the service industry, I know it's possible) the server rolled his eyes at me, had a chuckle to himself and corrected me with the utmost disrespect. He shoved us off for our remaining tastings (throwing our chips into his basket like we were wasting his time). I was trying to be nice for the rest of our tasting but was fighting my anger.
As soon as we walked outside my husband said how pissed he was that the tender was so rude. I thought I was exaggerating until he said that. I wish I could rate separately for the scenery and taste of the wine but unfortunately I can't.
Pros: great view.
Cons: service (without names) by older MALE staff. -

I came to Falkner Winery for a rehearsal dinner and I loved the scenery and their wines.
I would give them 5 stars, but their bartender "Dave" was very rude.
We were having a conversation about wine and grapes, and I pronounced Cabernet Franc as Cabernet 'Frank.' Dave grabbed my face, put his fingers around my cheeks, his palm below my jaw, and said "It's pronounced Franc, not Frank."
Honestly, I was stunned. If you go to Falkner Winery, beware of an elderly bartender named "Dave." Falkner Winery, if you're reading this, please give "Dave" training on customer service. -
Review from Sarah C.
Ended our wine tasting afternoon here at 4:45. Most wineries close at 5, but a few are open until 6. We thought this was one that was open later, but we were wrong.
Driving up the hill to Faulkner, we were amazed! It looks like a beautiful estate with a wraparound front porch covered in ivy- very romantic and gorgeous! But walking in was a let down. Think country western bar with plywood and cheap, cheesy tapestry fabric. Very homemade looking, but not in a charming way.
We were met at the bar by a woman telling us we were too late for the tastings. I don't know what her name was, but she was dressed as though she was going to work out in a horse barn, and she honestly looked like she had not taken a shower in awhile. Not professional looking at all. She sighed like we were bothering her and said she'd be able to let us do the 4 taste, but not the 7 taste. It was $10 for 4, not a super great deal when we'd already been to other places where we got 6-7 for $10. Okay, whatever...we came here to drink, so we will.
Seeing as this was our last stop, we'd already seen some great pourers(sommeliers?) in action, and she was a true let down. She did not tell us anything about the wine as she poured it. Not that she really poured enough that we could even taste it, it was more like a thimble-full of wine. Very very stingy pour. She also poured extremely fast. A few times, we'd still have a bit of the previous wine in the glass, but she would pour the new one right in with it. I felt like she was rushing us to get us out. I was uncomfortable.
I also wasn't impressed with their wine choices. I think if this had been our first stop, I might have been less critical, but the wine selections were far less varied and much much less interesting than those of the previous wineries we visited.
Instead of hustling us through the 4 tastes, I think it wouldn't been better to just tell us we were too late and send us on our merry way.\
If you must go here, though, try the Hot Lips warm wine. -

I was incredibly picky about our wedding venue, and my husband and I are so glad that we ended up choosing Falkner! Loretta can seem a little abrasive in her emails because she uses a lot of caps, but she's actually really easy to work with and is very understanding. She was very fast to respond to all my questions. We had our ceremony outside and the reception at the Pinnacle. It was such a beautiful site! I got so many compliments on it.
The food was pretty good. The guests seemed happy with how fast they were fed and the quality of food they were given. We got a lot of compliments on the artichoke hearts and the grilled romaine salad.
I was concerned about the day-of coordinator that we would have because I had heard that coordinators provided by the venue only work for the venue and don't really help the couple out, but this was not true with Falkner's coordinator. Tina did a GREAT job to make sure that our wedding was set up exactly how we wanted it and worked hard to ensure that everything was how we wanted. She even brought down appetizers to us to make sure we were fed while we were taking pictures.
One thing that could have been improved was more connection between the coordinator and Loretta and the coordinator and the DJ. We had negotiated champagne to be served at the cocktail hour, but I found out that it never actually was (which the guests didn't really miss anyways). The DJ announced the cake-cutting and I don't think the coordinator heard it because we didn't have any plate to put it on. Then no one passed out the cupcakes, so we ended up having like 100 cupcakes leftover because none of our guests were given them. I also had to throw my own bouquet because the DJ announced the toss and I wasn't given the tossing bouquet. Overall, it was pretty small details that went wrong. Nothing that ruined the event. I had the time of my life and people are still complimenting me on how beautiful and fun my wedding was. I would recommend this venue to other brides considering Falkner. -

Went to check out this winery for my upcoming wedding. The owner was out sick but they allowed us to walk the grounds anyway. The pourer was great - got us some pictures of the venue and walked us through the layout when it's arranged for a wedding. I think her name was Tricket - what a great name! Anyhoo, she was awesome. We tried some wines - the Sauvignon Blanc and Voignier were lovely whites - the Luscious Lips was yummy and the Hot Lips made me want a corner, a sofa, and a good book. I will serve that hot mulled wine at my next Christmas party.
This winery's views are so outstanding that the views alone will make you swoon - no need for wine. And it's these views, along with the great staff, that keep this winery in the running for my wedding :) I need to make another trip though! -

I've been to several Temecula wineries and did not enjoy my experience at Falkner. We went on a Sunday afternoon, because of the "free jazz".
For $15, we got a signature glass, 7 tastings, and a $5 coupon off a bottle of wine. The girl pouring our tastings was not pleasant! I mentioned that it was a quiet Sunday and she remarked how utterly bored she was. Then, Debbie Downer decided to offer unsolicited criticism about our tasting faux pas (taking the wine "out of order" and rinsing our glass out with water) and rudely critiquing us on our lack of knowledge of the citrus tastes in certain wines. Seriously? You're pouring me a saliva swish from a cheap bottle of white wine that is reminiscent of boxed Franzia from my college days... and you expect me to taste the grapefruit undertones?!
Then, I ask her what is the difference between the 2005 Amante and 2006 Amante (i.e. different flavors, mixes, etc). She responds, it's different years. Well, obviously, I understand that.
It's too bad that my experience at Falkner was impaired by such poor customer service. -

The wine is average, but it's to be expected since this is Temecula we're talking about. Their prices are a bit high when you consider you can purchase wines that are ten times better in Sonoma and Napa for around the same price. the actual wine bar is fun and has a nice view, and the outdoor bar is a nice touch as well. The gap-toothed woman that helped us was a snob, and I found it hilarious that she kept trying to make sales while we were still in the middle of tasting. Sorry lady, your wines were not good enough to justify the price.

One of my more pleasant experiences during my winery weekend. First off, it was nice to see it was dog friendly.
They have a really nice green shady yard with tables and benches and some tents and a man grilling something in the corner. It truly looked like a friendly laid back BBQ at a friends house. There is also a nice porch running along with the front with gorgeous views of the rolling hills and grape trees.
$15 for 7 pours. But they had a coupon that the girl took without the blink of an eye. Most coupons at other places were not good on weekends, or did not include the logo glass, blah blah, this place took a 1/2 price tasting coupon on a weekend and let you keep the logo glass. Cool.
They give you poker chips for your tastings. Count them right away! My friend was accidently given only 6 of the alotted chips instead of the full 7.
Our server was friendly adn knowledgeable about all the wines. I really wanted to like the Luscious Lips wine 'cuz that is sooo cute, but I hated it. I don't like sweet wines. I bought a lovely white wine. There is a small gift shop to browse afterwards.
There is a restaurant on the property that looked very nice with a wonderful view. The menu had a nice selection and reasonably priced.Listed in: Temecula Trips, Wine

I got married here in 2008, and my husband and I make a point of stopping by for a tasting whenever we're in Temecula.
Their bar staff is very friendly, and fairly generous with their pours. We once came up on a rainy day, and when it started to hail, they just kept pouring samples for us until it stopped (even though we had already used up our paid tastings). I recommend their reisling and, if they have it, "Hot Lips" (Luscious Lips heated with mulling spices).
For events, Falkner is great because it is up on a hill, away from the road, with a great view. We ended up with some gorgeous pictures! They have the restaurant for a slightly more formal setting, or an outdoor area for a more casual ambiance. We opted for the outdoor option, and it was great for our evening wedding in August. We were pretty happy with the price, options, and overall service provided. Eva (their event coordinator) was very helpful and encouraging through the planning process.
Unfortunately, there were a few bumps when it came to the rehearsal and the actual event... Eva seemed to have different plans than we did about the timing of the walk, and which aisles to use. (Ex: she had our groomsmen go down the side aisle, and the bridesmaids down the middle, even though we had rehearsed with everyone using the middle aisle.) I would recommend having your own coordinator or point person to make sure your plans are followed.
We brought in our own cake, flowers, and decor items. I wrote out directions about what went where, and everything was followed perfectly. Between our ceremony and reception, we returned to the bridal room (to change shoes and grab a private minute before greeting everyone), and they had left us a tray with some appetizers/snacks. A nice touch, especially since I never got more than 2 minutes at a time to try to eat during the reception! -

This review is for their winery.
I went to this winery as part of a Grapeline tour. The people working at the winery were all very friendly and helpful. Someone from the winery took the group on a tour of the winery, which was nice... except he stopped to talk at length about different winery subjects, leaving us to stand in the direct sun and heat! This happened about 3 times until finally we made it into the cool barrel room.
The wines were just fine, I didn't taste anything that I felt I needed to buy. The winery has a nice view, but I probably won't be coming back. -

2nd stop on our lil' tasting tour. We were drawn to this place after visiting Mount Palomar because we could hear the live music carrying over. I'll go ahead and give this place the benefit of the doubt because without the rain we got caught in, I would have really liked the patio/lawn area with all the picnic tables! We had some tastings (7 for $15) and were both blown away by the Rosé there... mmmmm that stuff could be dangerous with how delicious and smooth it was! You get poker-like chips for each tasting which is MUCH more fun that just a little piece of paper.
Didn't spend too much time here since we were both starving and needed food to calm the wine buzz, but I'd like to go back! -
Review from Laura H.
Pros: The setting up on the hill provides nice views, I really liked their Sauvignon Blanc, and they happily took 2-for-1 coupons for our group, meaning we got 4 tastes for only $5. (You have the option to do 7 tastes for more, but 4 was plenty here, we were ready to move on).
Cons: A few in our group complained about the tasting room smelling kind of musty and unclean. Grumpy wine pourer (this was our first stop so we weren't even obnoxious yet). The outdoor area was a little...low class. Ugly cheap shade structures took away from the nice picnic feel. The sangria is GROSS! Sticky icky sweet, I tried both the white and the red and no one in our group liked it.
Bottom line: Not bad for $5, but I didn't really want to linger too long. -

One of their Sauvignon Blancs just won first place in the San Francisco Chronicle wine competition 2011 in $14-$20 range. It beat out competitors from all of the world including Napa and Sonoma wineries.
Visited and got a wine tour in the Summer of 2010. Knowledge vintner! Great food! With wines of the same caliber as Napa and Sonoma. And a great guy who owns the place. My favorite vineyard in Temecula! -

We went here to celebrate our 40th birthdays. We arrived at Falkner Winery at 4:45 pm. As soon as we walked in we were rudely informed by
one of the employees:"We are closing at 5 p.m. and are no longer doing tastings." We were of course disappointed by this. Our group walked over to the 'store' to the right and the same lady walked up to us to remind us "We are closing at 5pm." We are not planning on going back.
Since 0 out of 5 stars is not an option, by default I am giving them 1 star. -

Falkner Winery is amazing. The tasting room and outside area are awesome with great views and a really great ambiance. The staff is super friendly and helpful. My husband and I have been wine club members here for a few years now and we love this place so much we ended up getting married in the garden outside of the tasting room. Neither of us had ever thought of getting married at a winery until we fell in love with this place.
Our wedding was absolutely amazing. Loreta, Denise and all of the staff could not have done more to make our day perfect. The garden area is enchanting at night with the lights and the candles. We are still getting compliments from our friends and family on how beautiful the whole thing was and how much fun they had.
The tasting room is a great stop off on a weekend afternoon, especially on Sundays in the summer when they have live music. We love their wines, especially the Reisling -- it's amazing -- and the Lucious Lips, espeically when the do "hot lips" in the winer (hot, mulled) and sangria in the summer (they have recently added a White Lucious Lips to the mix, which is also very good).
In all, this winery is amazing whether you are stopping by for a tasting or planning a wedding, you will not be disappointed. -

Stop 2 of 3
After checking out my very first wine tasting/tour we saw this winery from the first winery were at and heard the music coming from there about a half mile away!
Again still didn't seem all that big for what i imagined a winery would be but did not take the tour at this stop. Pulled and got out wine tasting tickets 7 for $15 per person. The staff was pretty nice and willing to tell you all about the wines. The music was a touch on the loud side but not bad. They have a Jazz dude there puffin on is sax. They had a nice little seating area. This place featured a wine that both my girlfriends and i enjoyed a lot. It's in the Rose' family and while i don't remember everything about it it was GOOD! I over heard the wine club specials they have and from what i can tell they all pretty much differ from everyone else. I believe they gave you 3-4 wines per month. -

The service staff behind the tasting bar are no slaves to consistency. You may get someone who is inhospitable or you get someone gregarious.
Although it charges the same for basic tasting as other neighbour wineries, Falkner lets you try only four (4) wines and withholds its logo glass.
A blend of two common whites, the Loretta is interesting, tasted like a Sauvignon Blanc with a lot of oak. The Amante (another blend wishes to be Super Tuscany) finishes with extra tannins that you may or may not like.
Try other wineries first. -

Los Angeles, CA
Very solid winery with great Syrah and Tuscan blends. Their rhone varietals are more successful than anything here, hence the great Syrah, but their whites (other than their buttery chard) are pretty meh.
Had a great 6 hour tour and tasting here as a belated birthday present from the in-laws and had a blast with George Myers, one of their winemakers. Great day, George was amazing, and the wines were all very solid. His Chateauneuf du Pape-style blend that he's bottling privately is the best thing we had all day - absolutely perfect in style and weight, great stuff all around. There's a LOT of mediocrity to be found in Temecula, and this place is certainly a cut above. Just remember where you are, and where you're not, and enjoy! -
Review from Nino R.
Falkner is my favorite of all the Temecula wineries.
Although their tasting format has changed, probably due to the economic downturn, the quality of their whites and reds remains the best. I really have no complaints about this establishment.
Don't assume that this is some ultra high-end establishment--it isn't. But it executes flawlessly, which is why its always so busy. The restaurant is one of the best in the area, but I spend most of my time in the tasting room.
The riesling, viognier and chardonnay are fantastic. Sweet, with various bouquets, but all have a hint of apple.
The pinot noir, syrah and merlot are mouth watering. For some time, I thought Wilson Creek had the better reds and Callaway had the better whites. But the more I compare, the clearer it becomes that Falkner is the pound-for-pound champ.
The decor is fantastic, very rustic, pseudo-mediterranean. There is plenty of room to sit outside if you wish. The tasting room can get crowded at times. So pay a visit to the wine steward at the outdoor area.

Review from Nora S.
This is a good winery. A very good winery. The view is very nice and they have a very pleasant porch area you can sit on to enjoy it. Tastings are a bit expensive but for $15 you get six tastings and their logo glass. Some of the other wineries we went to on this latest wine tasting trip did not give the option of a logo glass. And what's a wine tasting trip without those mementos?
The service was great and the wines were very nice. We tried 5 different wineries on this trip and this was the best of the bunch (wine wise). We went home with a wonderful Riesling (although the Rose seriously tempted us). They were also serving their white and red sangrias that day and were gladly giving out the recipe. Yum!
