The proper Greek pronunciation for Gyro sandwich is "Yee-roh". Someone in Boulder started calling it a "Hero" sandwich and sadly whole damn town calls it a Hero now.
My pita bread was stale, and $8 for a sandwich is a little much, especially considering the cramped dining space. The service is fast and friendly, but this is a grab and go place and not a dine in restaurant.

Falafel King is a decent, fast, greek place. I had a very basic chicken kebab that they unfortunately had to redo because they forgot to leave the sauce off. But, she noticed before I had to tell her. So, they get a point there. A couple friends of mine go here regularly a like it. The chicken kebab was good. 3.5 stars for a quick and reasonable lunch. It looks like the line can get long at lunch time.
I was really hungry and this place was really pretty good. Quality hummus, highly fresh ingredients, tasty baklava. Friendly staff. Exciting music. Clean.
Alright, so I'm from the Rust Belt and we pronounce gyros as one would pronounce gyrate (not like "hero," which is the proper pronunciation). No matter which way you say it, Falafel King makes them great. While Pearl Street may lack the Rust Belt's gritty charm, you can't knock the deals they have at this Boulder staple. More than just a gyro, you can get your choice of delicious sides, such as tabbouli, baba gannoush, eggplant and hummus.
The decor is also very interesting, so it's a nice place to eat indoors if it's chilly out. If it's warm out, though, it's in a prime location on the Pearl Street Mall in front of the courthouse. Get yours to go and find a nice bench or plot of grass and people watch while you suck down your lamb.

Finally! I've found a local falafel source! Service was friendly - get greeted with a smile, served with a smile, and walk out with a smile on your face. I ordered the lamb falafel with cucumber sauce to go - the servings were fulfilling enough for a quick bite, but the price might not equal the proportions in my opinion. But, then again the cost is in the league of a Subway/Quiznos sandwich. Located on Pearl Street Mall, this is a great pit stop while you're shopping or passing by.

I sure like this "Falafel King."
The falafel is darn good and so is the hummus.
Moreover, health conscious grocery stores in Boulder and Denver in fact retail the hummus so you can enjoy it 24-hours a day! Spectacular!
Not to pricey. Not to shabby.
A heaping plate of Greek food for when the craving strikes.
I work quite close to this restaurant, so it makes for a quick and easy lunch or dinner. For the most part their food is really good, though they occasionally overcook/burn some of the meat for the sandwiches. Other than that, it's priced right and the food is worth the occasional wait (and believe me, with lines out the door on weekends, it can be a long wait).
Best bets: Falafel balls, shawarma, gyro sandwiches, rose water lemonade, baklava, any of their fresh made hummus varieties (which are available in local markets as well).

Great delicious vegan fare. Well I think they also have meat there. But there was enough yummy falafel and hummus and grape leaves to keep me happy. Good eats!

I used to like the food here but in the last four visits they managed to mess my orders up each time. The food is still cheap and tasty though so it's one of the best fast food options on the mall.
My professor at University of Michigan actually remembered this place from a visit about 10 years ago, so it's been around for awhile. A fantastic deal with fresh ingredients, this place is consistent and pretty tasty. Make sure to get one of the "bowls" or sandwiches to save some cash. I have been here about 20 times and it's always been good.

The only reason this place gets good reviews is that there are limited options for falafel in boulder. It was certainly not a great falafel.

I ate here again last night and I have to say it is wonderful, espeically sitting out on the Pearl Street Mall and seeing the mummers and buskers, hearing the live music, and watching the people go by.
Consistently yummy, healthy fast food. Try the 4x4 or Mediterranian bowl with shawarma.
A great local institution. I hope they survive the encroaching chains.
