Alright supposedly this was some other hotel remodeled. This is one of my favorite Fairmont's because its one fo the most modern, yet still classy and elegant. Don't get me wrong the room sizes aren't as big as most Fairmont rooms and I haven't had a room with a high ceiling, but flat screen plasmas in every room is tough to beat. The staff is very well trained as every time I arrive for check-in the valet knows my name.
I'm all about the workout facility and this one is fairly decent as it overlooks the outdoor pool and spa. Only about 7 or so cardio machines and i set of free weights, but nonetheless quite adequate. Definitely a different Fairmont experience, but i definietly recommend this hotel.

Yes, this is one of those hotels where everyone knows your name and loves to greet you with "welcome" or "welcome back." Service and hospitality are top notch here.
The room is nicely appointed, marble, granite, plush carpets, a comfortable bed, plasma tv, great water pressure and shower. I also tried the kobe sliders in the bar...surprisingly good for hotel food.
I had one issue where I ordered a fridge and after roughly 80 minutes it still hadn't arrived, so I had to call Housekeeping again. Other than that, this was a great hotel and I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in the area.
p.s., really close to UC Irvine, Newport Beach, Fashion Island, etc.
$250 a night. Stayed here for work. Place looks amazing. The rooms are nice and clean; you get an HD Flat screen TV. There is a pool and hot tub. There is a pretty bar area and breakfast area. Staff is friendly. Valet parking only which is another $30 per day. I would never stay here on my own dime. It's at least as nice as an Omni.
Are you looking for a place to have a casual off-site meeting with a small group (4 or less) in Irvine? Head to the Fairmont!
In the lobby bar area there are plenty of nooks where you can plug in your computers, get snack and beverage service through the bar, and sit far enough away from the TVs to get some serious work done. I highly recommend it.
As for the hotel, I frequently put customers (Doctors) there. Doctors are a tough group to make happy. They ALL RAVE about the rooms. And, since they are flying in, you can't beat the location. Better than hauling them all the way down to the ocean (LOL! I know! it is only like 8 miles!) and back.
I came here for a business trip in August (let's you know how far behind I am in my Yelping!).
Attentive service, good good. Fitness center was well equipped but not great - Overall it was a great experience - but I had to pay for WIFI and as much as I hate to quibble, reading the costs other people paid for their room, I feel like that should have been included.
Other than that, the service, room service, and events we held were all well done with excellent food and immaculate attention to detail. I would definately return.
I've come here for various business meetings, seminars, and have even been a guest. I really like this hotel because it's well designed, well decorated, and well staffed. The atmosphere is relaxed but the casual feel doesn't take anything away from the building's elegance.
The meeting halls are nicely organized and layed out. Seating and detail are paid very close attention to and individual attention is very clear in the set up. I forget the names of the two halls that I've been in but they were very nice and spacious. During a leadership summit last year, accolades such as Mark Victor Hansen and Roger Hamilton selected the Fairmont as their place to meet.
The Bambu restaurant is very elegant. Don't feel intimidated when you wall in. It's high ceilings with low requirements. Food is good. Pastries are amazing. Prices are fair. Service is flattering. No dress code but don't look like a slob. You won't get in.
The lounge area is also very nice. Open, accomodating, and well furnished. Comfortable chairs, couches, and sizeable tables with plenty of flat screen televisions all around.
The rooms are very enjoyable. I stayed on the top flour in a Junior Suite, corner location. Lots of windows and a fantastic view all around. The soaking tub was the highlight of the room in my opinion. The large glass enclosed shower was also a treat. I prefer separate showers and tubs with the tubs having high walls and the showers being open and over sized. Bath amenities such as soaking balls and dissolving salts were included in the room.
The bed was firm and the bedding was soft. Very comfortable. Pillows had a nice push to them but they weren't too hard. Being high off the floor, it felt refreshing to be on eye level with the flat screen that was also elevated on an attractive dark cherry wood bureau.
Bose sound system was phenomenal as well.
Large open area to move around along wth a reading/lounging chair and coffee table. Balcony was also nice. Though some may dislike it being so close to John Wayne, I enjoyed watching the planes come in and out, and the double pane door made the room almost entirely silent.
Food was pleasant. Room service was attentive and prompt. Quesadilla was generously stuffed. Cobb salad was generously topped with a bed of fresh greens underneath. Cheese platter was colourful and paired appropriately with the proper crackers and fruits. Eggs, sausages, fruit, danish, juices, and coffee are standard. Nothng special there.
Well worth the price. Not all that expensive. On par with the other resorts around the area and along the beaches of central and north Orange County. I look forward to coming here again.

This was my first time spending a night at a hotel in Orange Count last weekend. Some people got this place at $110 a night but we were stuck with $159. Staying at a 4 star hotel for under $200 a night is freaking awesome. Its conviently located next to John Wayne Airport so it wouldnt surprise me if people stay here for business. The hotel doesn't have the same character as the SF fairmont. SF fairmont reminds me of old money and Newport is catering to the new. There is nothing to do around the hotel except drive to South Coast or get rubbed up by some dirty dudes at Fury Lounge. If you can stay here for $110/ night, you have basically robbed the fairmont corporation.

Decent hotel but I wasn't overly impressed. The room was ok sized and pretty clean but the bathroom was relatively small with only one sink - not very convenient for families. The air conditioner was noisy and the pillows were way too flat. There were many lounges and bar areas for adults. The executive lounge catered to adults and felt snooty. I'd say this isn't a family hotel. It's more for the business traveler. However, this hotel is fairly cheap - $110 per night through travelocity - so what you get for the price is good.

OMG! I stayed at the Fairmont for 2 nights and I never left my room! It's amazing! cozy robes, dreamy beds, their room service is great and their food is SOOO DELICIOUS! I had the tofu lasagna and it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Don't get me wrong, I also tried the delectable 100% Kobe beef burger (not at the same time though).
Valet attendants, housekeeping and room service remember your name and always ask if "there is anything else we can do". By far, this has been one of my best hotel experiences. Keep up the good work!

Had a one night stay here recently for a business trip.
Very close to John Wayne airport and they picked me up in a complimentary Mercedes.
My arrival was good, but nothing like, say, the Fairmont in San Francisco. It's definitely a business hotel. And the woman that checked me in was very strange; nice and professional, but strange. I felt like I was talking to a robot; literally.
The room was very clean and exceeded my expectations given the reasonable rate for this level hotel.
I'll stay there again because it is easily accessible, the service is excellent, and the rooms are immaculate.
It is true that if you blink you won't find this place.
It is right next to the airport.....so close that it is pretty unbelievable. It is maybe a 2 minute drive--if that!
It is BEAUTIFUL for an airport hotel.
It is a nice place to rest your head if you need the convenience of being near the airport. Beds are super comfortable. Rooms are well decorated. Staff was friendly.
My only complaint was that the air conditioner was too loud (woke me up!) and there were a bunch of drunks yelling outside my bedroom at 3 a.m.
Great hotel!
Very nice and clean. Very friendly staff and the best part ... they let you have pets!!! YAY!!!!
We were in newport for the long holiday weekend and brought our 2 yorkies. They charge $25 per pet per night. Not that bad! Especially since we got a screamin' deal on expedia for the room in the first place. $150 a night!!!!!!
They offer a shuttle service to john wayne. They have great room service - breakfast was up to our room in 15 minutes! They have a business center that they opened for us after hours which was nice of them. It's valet only so budget for an extra $25 a day.
We will definitely be back.
P.S. Don't eat at the restaurant (bambu) - it SUCKS!!

What use to be The Sutton Place is now known as the Fairmont Hotel. Recently renovated ($32millions later) to a 5 star hotel, it is a fantastic get-away place for us locals here. The staff is outstanding and their food is superb! I'm lucky enough to work at a company that they love to cater too, every time I'm in there, I'm treated like royalty!! the rooms are lovely and are like little Italian villas........
Oh, BTW, each room has an "intimacy kit" (two condoms, two toilettes and KY Jelly) and DO NOT ask me how I know =]

Mmmm, very nice. Bed is ALMOST as comfortable as mine.
This place rocked! The place was gorgeous. To say that the hotel staff was friendly would be a giant understatement. They were on top of everything and very helpful and nice, beyond just the hello and welcome stuff.
The rooms are beautiful and modern. The beds are so freaking comfortable I want to buy the whole thing and send it back home.
For a five star resort, we found a great deal online and I would recommend staying here to anyone I come across. The location isn't fab, no beach views or anything, but you are a short drive from all the best of OC.
We ordered room service one afternoon too because we needed a snack, which I rarely do, but I'm glad I did. It was great! Fresh, warm, and delivered really quickly.
I am going back for some pool time, which I didn't get in on this trip, because I want to hang out under the cabanas. I'd also like to check out the spa.
If you're in Orange County and want a super relaxing night at a nice hotel, check this place out.
If you blink, you'd drive right past it. Nestled amongst overgrown trees, though along busy MacArthur Blvd, The Fairmont is exactly what you would want of a 5-star resort style hotel but with the convenience of being close to John Wayne Airport.
It is not a big hotel... cosy, secluded and very very stylish rooms make this an excellent choice for the worldly traveler. The rooms are equipped with high definition flat panel TVs, fully stocked mini bars which have sensors (so don't take anything out or lift it up if you have no intentions of purchasing). The beds are soooooooooooo comfy soft and plush you wouldn't want to get out of it. Bathrooms have all the amenities you would want complete with bathrobes.
Although rooms start around $250 mark, often you'll be able to find a reasonable price (around $150) on the internet. One thing I do have a problem with is that they don't have free parking. You have to get it parked through the valet.

so i'm pulling into the hotel and we get out of the car, and everybody already knows our name and there is loud loud music in the background. not bad for a hotel that is next to the airport.
turns out this place is like a nightclub on friday nights, and friday nights only. but they had a huge band, the already pimp hotel bar serving up drinks and lots of girls from france dancing.
yes france.
this place is, for some random ass reason, the stopover for air france. thus all the crew come and stay there for a couple days. they even have a channel on the 32inch LCDs that is in french (a HDTV in every room).
the new spa is pretty choice and the pool is great (more TVs in the cabanas). they just dropped a ton of money on the spa so you can't go wrong (I liked the running machines on the pool deck). so yeah, i'd go back in a second.

The Fairmont Newport Beach was recently renovated (finished Winter '06), and it is GORGEOUS. For being so conveniently located near the airport, it's pretty secluded and easy to drive right by. It's off the road a ways so you don't get that "I'm right on the highway" feeling in your hotel room. Everything looks very grand and the rooms are a typical size, but very clean and newly updated.
The bathrooms (very important to us females) are beautifully redone and complete with all the amenities you'd need, including bathrobes.
The high definition flat screen TVs are a definite plus. :)
If you're looking for a hotel package or some great rates, check out www.visitnewportbeach.com. This site also has a Calendar section and listings of lots of things to do in the Newport Beach and Balboa areas.

I absolutely LOVED this place. Service staff are oh so friendly, the bar downstairs rocks out on Friday nights with a live band, Saturday nights are a little more mellow for those who want a quiet glass of wine and some conversation. The rooms are average sized, but its the flat panel HDTV with DVD player, the ideal bathroom with yummy products and super cushy terry cloth robes, the big comfy bed with super soft sheets that smelled great, down comforter and oversized (but not uncomfortably so) pillows that make the room somehwere you just want to stay forever. I wanted to lock the door from the inside and never leave. I didnt get to experience the restaurant, the pool or the fitness room, but have heard that they are all excellent. I definitely want to go back and make more of my stay. Its almost like you could never leave the hotel premises and be so happy experiencing everything they have to offer. Everything about the hotel screams luxury from the beautiful GIGANTIC floral arrangement in the entry to the lobby, to the ultra-acommodating staff, to the beautifully designed marble bathrooms. I want to move in to this hotel permanently.
