The Fairmont is normally a bit out of our price range for hotels, but since this was a make-up honeymoon of sorts (don't ask), we splurged for an ocean-side suite. Now we're seriously wondering how we'll manage to stay anywhere else. The combination of impeccable service, wonderful amenities, and a fantastic suite makes this hotel hard to beat. The Four Seasons next door is a bit more elegant, but there is something very comfortable about the Fairmont. It's a lack of pretentiousness, and a genuine eagerness to please in their staff. There is nothing lacking here, and that's quite a complement in a hotel.

If you stay here, have a cocktail at the hotel lounge one evening. They have live music each night, and the cocktails are superb.

I can not say enough about this hotel. It's not only a beautiful establishment but the service, staff and rooms are stellar too!

We started out with lunch near the pool as we arrived a bit before our room was ready. Lunch was stellar and it was the perfect start to our vacation after a long, long day of traveling.

Once in the room I was simply in awe. It is the perfect place to call home for a while. As you walk into the suite there was a small sink, refrigerator, coffee maker (with everything from cream to tea) and a coat closet with a small safe. The next room is the living room with a comfy couch, TV & desk. The double doors leading out of the living room lead into the bedroom. We slept soundly every night on this killer bed. There's another TV in this room, a Sony Ipod docking station and his & her closets!
Now, ladies.. listen up! The bathroom is FANTASTIC! It's like being in a spa. Large tub, walk in shower, his/her sinks, hair dryer and there's even a container with Qtips & cotton swabs.

My fella & I partook of our 2 favorite vacation features-- the concierge and the morning buffet. Both an A+ in my book!

Now, the only down side to this whole place is it's not cheap. The Buffet is $30 a person and drinks are $12.50 and up. This all can add up quickly. This is a fantastic place to go on your honeymoon, for a special occasion or if you simply want to be pampered. One visit and you'll know why it's worth every penny!

Ps. If you're interested in a Villa our friends rented a 2 bedroom one and it has all the comforts of home including a small pool and BBQ.

I arrived last night and checked into my gorgeous one bedroom suite with a spectacular view of the ocean and pools.  The view surrounds the entire suite.  Sooooo beautiful.  The furnishings are updated and very comfortable.

This hotel is simply beautiful.  From the lobby to the pools to the beach............very romantic and serene.

One of managers at the Seattle Fairmont called his
fellow mgr here and asked him to "take care of me."
So I am feeling like a Prince on my own island!!

The fitness ctr is large and updated.

The only bad thing is that I don't want to leave my room!

I had a wonderful stay here, the rooms were large with balconies, the grounds were beautiful and the food was great.
My only complaint is that everything in the hotel shuts down at 9pm. All the restaurants, lounges, bars...it's a ghost hotel.
While we were there though it was pretty empty, which was nice. No crowded beach or poolside.
Everyone in the hotel was very nice and helpful...I really don't have anything bad to say about it, I would stay here again. It was beautiful and lived up to its 5 stars.

Spent a week there with our daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. Love that end of the island. Hotel is very beautiful. Lobby is lovely with a great vista on pool area that lies below. Since there were 5 of us, we stayed in one of the Villas. It was great. Had full 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, living room, kitchen, laundry area, eat-in area. Outside there was a cool-pool and excellent barbecue facilities. Everything was provided except food. We cooked some and ate out some. All restaurants at the hotel served excellent food! Groceries to buy are a bit pricey on-site, but are certainly convenient when you've forgotten something.

Beach is good and the beach walk is easy and beautiful. Highly recommend taking it in the AM when it's cooler. The kid's slide is great and gecko hunting keeps kids busy for quite a while.

The only thing I found irritating is that there is very little shade and you have to reserve and pay for it. They should plant more trees and encourage people to come and go. Some people staked out a place from 10 AM until 6 PM. It seemed a bit excessive to me.

The Kea Lani up there with the Fairmont Miramar in terms of service. If you want a great view and no service, the Grand Wailea is a decent choice. I've gone back and forth to Wailea a bunch of times and there's nothing quite like this property! The rooms are huge....get that, huge!

I love the dark woods, white walls and quiet feel this place has over the "Disneyland atmosphere" of the Grand Wailea.

If you are looking for a romantic, quiet spot with some of the best service on the island, the Kea Lani is your ticket!

If you are even thinking of staying here-DO IT! This was by far the best vacation I've ever been on. The hotel is beautiful & very well kept, the customer service is awesome and the location is pristine. Heads up on a few items, the rooms are all suites, which is GREAT, so roomy & beautiful. Bring some dvd's as there are players and surround sound in the rooms. There is also a microwave and mini refrigerator in each suite which is great for breakfast & lunch foods.

Go into Kiehi for food bc most stuff in wailea is wayyy overpriced. Just avoid the shops at wailea, unless you are going to the general store for lunch or snacks etc. We found some great places in Kihei for lunch/dinner: Sansei (awesome sushi), Pita Paradise (delish greek food), Tutti Frutti (frozen yogurt) and the list goes on. If you want to stay in Wailea, about 1.5 miles from the Fairmont is Matteo's...great for pizza, salads etc and has a full bar. Very reasonable and tasty!

I will say that the only negative is the cost of food at the hotel, but I guess it comes with the territory (ie $30 buffet breakfast which isn't great).  Also, there are two kiddie pools and one adult pool, the kids pool has a slide which is fun. The ocean here is gorgeous and the snorkeling is good too. Overall a truly awesome place to stay and worth every penny.

Here's the backstory:
If you don't care, skip ahead to : The Review

We were in Hawaii i to get married and for our subsequent honeymoon. We decided to do 6 nights in Maui, 3 nights Lanai, and the last night in Honolulu where we needed to catch our Mainland flight.

For months I researched the Maui portion - the main portion of our stay. Staying in South Maui was a no-brainer, since it was barely Spring (late April) and weather tends to be a bit better South --

So where to stay? We wanted a resort over a condo -- and a NICE resort at that --- Well, this is our Marriage / Honeymoon after all.
Choices were:
Grand Wailea -- ruled out for nickle/dime - ing, as in Resort Fees, chair/cabana fees, ect)
Marriot -- eh, for the price. $350 a night on average -- plus lots of extra fees
Four Seasons -- Recession Pricing ( Specials are unheard of here)
5th night free-- No resort or cabana fees
And --- Fairmont Kea Lani

I quickly narrowed it down to Four Seasons and Fairmont, and after much hemming/hawing, picked Four Seasons -- thinking that it wasn't much more than the Fairmont.

So I plunked down my 2 night deposit on the 4 Seasons; but only for 5 nights ( remember 5th night free) We were getting into Maui really late, so we were going to cheap out for the 1st night.

Then -- at the very last minute, I'm emailed a special "Friends and Family Rate" for the Fairmont.
$169 a night -- That's right -- rate went from $495 to $169 in a blink of an eye.
Book it Dan - O.
But alas, the "Wonderful" Four Seasons won't refund my deposit.
So we booked the Fairmont for the 1st night only

Now the Review :

We arrived at the Fairmont way beyond our expected arrival time --
almost 11pm
The valet runs out to greet us, takes our bags, parks our car.
Check in was easy. Went to front desk, took a CC impression, verified rate, etc
The room:
Wow, wow, wow.
This is the main reason to stay at the Fairmont.
It's not a "room" -- It's a suite.
That's right, an all suite hotel, no begging for upgrades, even the basic suite is Gorgeous !!
Marble bathroom. Jetted Soaking Tub -- Huge shower with fantastic rain shower faucets, and awesome pressure.
Something Miller Amenities ( shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, etc)
The living area was well thought out -- large flat screen, nice sitting area, and large bar area.
Huge separate bedroom. Very Comfortable Bed, and top notch bedding.

Absolutely perfect suite -- I couldn't ask for anything more in a suite.

The following AM we had a 10am breakfast -- late by resort standards, and were 1 of 3 couples. The buffet was $30 a person, and very worth it -- IF, you're hungry and can pack it away,
Buffet had made to order eggs, pancakes, waffles, etc
Plus all the normal stuff on a good buffet ( lox, fruit, yogurt, granola, etc)
Service was very friendly.

Grounds: Beautiful, well maintained.
Pool, very nice, and no fees for chairs or cabana

All in all, Fairmont is the perfect resort --

One Caveat:
If the rate goes back to $495, you might as well stay at the Four Seasons.
But...
If you get a a special rate -- I looked -- Friends/Family is now $249.
Totally stay here--- in fact, at that rate, you can't afford Not to Stay Here !!!!

Thanks for the nice night Fairmont -- I'll be back one day !!!

Oooh the Fairmont Kea Lani! It has been a few years since we were here on our honeymoon, but I'm still dreaming of it. We were just in Wailea last week on vacation (used Marriott points, so we didn't stay here this time) and instant happyness and relaxation fell upon me when we visited again, even just to roam the lobby and grounds during the day and back again to eat at Nick's Fish Market for dinner.

The service at the Fairmont is top notch. The valet will remember your name and your story, when you first arrive you will be greeted with a lei and drink. You will have turndown service and other ammenities expected of a 5 star resort.

When we first checked into our room when we did stay, I swear it seemed like we were in the basement dungeon. Seriously? There are guest rooms here? We stayed one night because the hotel was full, but they moved us to a great room after that and everything was perfect from there. The first room was in the "unrennovated" section I guess, and I would assume all rennovations are done by now. The great thing about the Fairmont is you get large suites - living room, bedroom, bar area and gorgeous bathrooms. You will pull all you have inside you to keep from weeping when you leave. I highly recommend!

I just spent a week at the Fairmont Kea Lani in Feburary, 2009.  It was absolutely wonderful.  Let me list the ways:

Service:  the staff were very friendly and helpful.  Everything from the staff at the pool offering water and sliced pineapple to the people at the beach bringing out lawn chairs to the friendly housekeepers made us feel very welcome.

Grounds:  Beautiful grounds.  We had a "moderate" suite, which is described as a "garden and parking lot view" and it still had a gorgeous view of flowers, trees, and Mt. Haleakala.  The ocean side was lovely with lots of flowers, lawns, and pretty pools.

Rooms:  Big enough for 3 adults or 2 adults + 2 kids, amazing large bathrooms, 2 t.v.'s, and spacious lanais.

Pools:  3 good sized pools including a water slide connecting 2, a basketball hoop, and a swim-up-bar.  Definitely a highlight.

Beach:  Direct beach access that is good for boogie boarding and snorkling.

Clientele:  We walked along the Wailea beach path, and the Fairmont seemed *much* less crowded that both the Grand Wailea (lots and lots of kids!) and the Four Seasons (every lounge chair seemed to be taken, small pool).  There were not a lot of older kids, but lots of toddlers for some reason.

Price:  It ain't cheap, but here's a tip:  we booked a car+ hotel package on Orbitz and got 25% off the advertised rate (including the car!).

Overall, a lovely time.  We could barely bring ourselves to leave the resort and see everything else there is to do in Maui.  I would absolutely stay here again.

This is a great place for families!!  The suite set up is perfect for 2 adults and 2 kids (not sure you could squeeze more kids in or not).  The place is expensive, so bring your wallet.  Couple of tips...

* Valet parking is $20 per day.  Self parking is FREE.
* The breakfast buffet is good, but not great.  I preferred the coffee shop (Cafe Caio) that has breakfast sandwiches and coffee.
* If it is crowded, splurge on the cabana.  It holds your spot all day in a nice shady location, plus you get unlimited water and non-alcoholic beverages (again, very kid friendly).
* The Spa is fantastic!  The Lomi Lomi massage was one of the best I'd ever had...well worth the money.
* Skip the Hair/Nail salon.  It has nice Aveda products, but that's about it.
* The rooms have dorm-size refrigerators and microwaves, so buy snacks at the local grocery store to keep in your room.
* Ask about the drink of the day...usually delicious and a few bucks less.
* The kid activities on the lawn are pretty lame, except for the lei making.  This was a blast (and free).  My daughter made a huge lei and wore it around for days.
* Everyone needs to go down the water slide...very fun for all ages!

We were there in a "down market" so there were deals going on at most of the restaurants and even at the pool (2-for-1 cabanas).

Overall...fabulous place to stay!  Aloha!

Aloha!

I love Maui.  It offers something for everyone...the tourist, the golfer, the jet setter, the family and the person who just wants to get away from it all.  In the past my family and I always stayed near Lahaina.  We loved being near Lahaina and all of the fun places there.  Fast forward to when we all grew up and graduated from college and became our much more mature and sophisticated selves. ; )

We decided to stay in Wailea.  We had heard that it was definitely more upscale than other parts of the island and had some beautiful places to stay.  We stayed at the Fairmont Kea Lani and were not disappointed.  The architecture definitely does not have that tropical vibe like so many other hotels on the island.  It looks like something from Aladdin or Arabian Nights.  The grounds are gorge!  They even have a private beach complete with lounge chair set up.  They have multiple swimming pools and one even has a slide.  Cool!  I love the swim up bar.  How fun is that!

The rooms are very simply and tastefully decorated.  No tacky knick-knacks.  Every room is a suite.  You get a cozy living area, separate bedroom and beautiful bathroom with spa tub and separate walk in shower.  Ooh la la!

They have a couple of cute little shops on the premise including Ciao which includes a small bakery and deli (they also sell specialty food & wine) and the ubiquitous gift shop.  I purchased a few Christmas ornaments for friends back on the mainland.  They even offer activities during the day.  I participated in the outdoor morning yoga classes.  Talk about a beautiful location to practice yoga!

They have a few restaurants too including a pizza place (if you stay at the Kea Lani make sure to request a room not directly above the pizza place because of the smoke from the ovens), upscale coffee shop which has a great breakfast menu & buffet and Nick's Fish Market.  The food at Nick's was really good.  The views are TDF!

I loved staying in Wailea and that is where I want to stay the next time I go to Maui.  The Kea Lani is a great place for your Maui vacation.

We stayed here a couple weeks ago and everything about it was as expected.  Good service, big updated rooms, nice property and great amenities.  The one drawback was that the pool is not as fun as the Grand Wailea!  Although it's big, it doesn't have all of the frills like a lazy river, water elevator, rope swing, etc....But, the offset is that the rooms at the Kea Lani are a helluva lot bigger and more family friendly.
The hotel store is convenient and has Whole Foods type of stuff, so if you're a fancy-foodie that likes to pay $13 for a  grilled eggplant sandwich that would normally cost 5 bucks anywhere else, you'll feel right at home.  No eggplant for me, thanks.
Going back to the pools, they have a family pool and one for adults only.  The adults only pool was usually pretty mellow and not much action, but the family pool has a water slide as its main attraction and that was where all of the action was.
Overall this is a very nice property and I would definitely come back......

Great hotel!

If you're looking for a romantic and relaxing hotel in Maui with great cocktails and food this is your place. The adult pool is nice and quiet, and the cocktails are stiff and made just right. Nicks restaurant has great seafood...It's pricey, but what do you expect eating at a 4 star hotel in Maui.

This place is absolute paradise. I went two years ago and am saving up to go again. I can't get enough of it.

There are three pools - two are connected by a WATERSLIDE!!!!!!  These two are family pools, parents playing with their kids and having a grand ol' time, which me and my man didn't mind. We like to people watch. But if that's not your scene and you're looking for a quieter, more romantic place to lounge, the third pool is adults only. We never went there, but it was nice to have that option.

The hotel has a car service that will take you anywhere you want to go in the nearby vicinity - which includes a high-end shopping center, several other hotels (many) of which are the meeting places for snorkeling tours and such) etc.

The staff at the hotel are downright wonderful - as someone else put it, they were "completely laid back, but accommodating."
This is the perfect vacation spot.

We first visited the Kea Lani back in 2005 for a friend's wedding and the grounds are absolutely beautiful.

I'm not sure what some of the dissatisfied customers are talking about, but perhaps since we went during off-season this time around (i.e. NOT spring break), we didn't feel like the resort was crowded or that the staff was unhelpful at all.

We loved our suite (all the rooms in the hotel are suites) and we felt right at home w/the living area, separate bedroom, and exquisite bath.

There are several pools on location; we usually swam in the mixed pool since there was a swim-up bar (excellent food) and television.

The Fairmont also has a path that leads right down to the beach. It was beautiful! There was never a dearth of chairs or overcrowding while we were there. Try picnicking on the beach for dinner to catch an awesome sunset.

I went here a couple summers ago on vacation with my parents and friend. It is an amazing hotel, with everything you could possibly need: multiple restaurants, spa, pool, a little store and more. The service was great anywhere we went, I could have spent the whole vacation around the hotel! When laying out by the pool, they bring you warmed towels and pineapple. Our suite was great, we had a big bathroom and a mini kitchen, which was great for late night snacks from the store. Room service was also good. I recommend staying here to have a truly relaxing, pampering experience in Maui.

My husband and I went to the Fairmont in October for our honeymoon. From the time we arrived we were greeted with impeccable service. Our room was gorgeous, staff is so friendly and helpful, the grounds are beautiful. The hotel is very quiet and relaxing. Anything you need the staff is there to assist you. We were trying to decide between the Fairmont and the Grand Wailea and we were so happy we chose the Fairmont. The experience is very personal and you do not feel like just any other guest. They truly care about your experience.  I can not wait to go back!

The Fairmont Kea Lani not only offers one of the most aesthetically pleasing views that Maui can give, but the food and staff are equally spectacular.

I visit family there at least twice a year and plan on calling it home in the future, but if you're a tourist and have the funds then you should definitely make the Kea Lani your home while visiting the Valley Isle.

However, if you're like me and can't quite afford to put out $500+ a night just yet, try going there to dine.

The Kea Lani Restaurant offers a breakfast buffet that is beyond words. I mean (get ready for the extreme usage of adverbs), all you can eat bacon while enjoying outside dining with amazing views of the lavish resort.. and the breathtaking ocean?! For me, it doesn't get any better than that.

The staff there is so kind and generous - you'll feel like nothing is beyond your reach. It doesn't take but a minute for you to get up and go for seconds - or thirds or fourths - only to return to your table being clean and ready for you to enjoy what you hadn't already.

And feel free to dress casual as can be. Better yet, be ready to take a quick stroll down to the beach after breakfast to get some sun!

Wonderful staff, delicious food, a crystal clear shore, and a stunning view all around. Make sure to visit the Kea Lani.

Maui no ka oi!

I travel extensively and have stayed at the Kea Lani twice in the last 10 years. It ranks up there with the very best of them.

My first time at the Kea Lani was in 1996 in one of their two bedroom / two story ocean-front villas. The villa itself was spectacular with it's own private splash pool, kitchen, laundry and split-level floor plan. If you are travelling as two couples or as a family I would highly recommend the villas.

On this most recent trip (March 11th - 19th 2006) I spent all of my 8-day trip to Maui in one of the Kea Lani's "Kilohana Suites'. 1100 square feet, enormous wrap-around lanai, spacious sitting room, marble wet-bar, modern clean and eminently functional marble bathroom and one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in outside of my own home.

The service, from the valet parking / bell desk to the front desk to housekeeping is par excellence. We were in the main building which not only afforded a spectacular panoramic view of the impeccably manicured / landscaped grounds and both pools but afforded us the ease of a two-minute trip from the front desk to our room. Spa Kea Lani is a beautifully appointed and professionally staffed facility. My girlfriend and I enjoyed side-by-side 80 minute massages and I have to say they were likely the best we've ever had.

The hotel was built in 1991 but the rooms have almost all been renovated and the public areas are as gorgeous now (if not more so) than they were when I first vacationed here in the mid-90's.

The Four Seasons is nice but did not strike me as anything truly special. If you are travelling on a budget, the Kea Lani is not the place for you. But if you have the means and the sophistication to appreciate the very finest things that life has to offer, the only places to even consider when vacationing on Maui are the Kea Lani or the Grand Wailea (right next door.) (I know some would argue for The Ritz Carlton Kapalua but their resort really does look tired and in dire need of a major face-lift and I don't play golf!)

Even though the Kea Lani was *completely* booked during the time I was there, I never once had the slightest bit of difficulty finding a perfectly positioned lounge chair nor ever felt the slightest bit "crowded". This truly is a world-class hotel.

I'm a little bias, b/c we stayed here on our honeymoon, but our suite w/ ocean view was absolutely amazing.  It's also nice that this is on one end of the wailea beach strand, so there's not a whole lot of traffic south of.  There's a pretty walking bath, but not a huge beach.

i had the pleasure of staying here this weekend for my friend's wedding. all of the rooms are suites but the rates vary depending on the view. unless you plan to fork out lots of $$$$ then expect a parking lot view.

the wedding ceremony was on the polo lawn with a great sunset oceanside view. we even spotted a whale swimming in the distance!

i still prefer the four seasons but the fairmont kea lani is a close second!

The Kea Lani battles with the Four Seasons for the title of the best hotel in Wailea.  The rooms are enormous -- the literature claims 840 square feet.  They come with a mini-kitchenette that allows you to avoid the $19 cheeseburger by the pool once in a while.  The decoration is a little off my taste (kind of that historic Hawaii green), but very nice.  They still try to nick you for more margin (even after posting 5 bills a night) for things like internet service.  The rooms also come with DVD, CD and full stereo setups.  The ocean view rooms (which I can no longer afford since they became a Fairmont) are spectacular, especially for sipping a drink while watching the sun go down.

The service is excellent and attentive.  The pools are sublime, though they're set up more for adults or older kids (perhaps on purpose) than the Hyatt-style adventure park idea you'll find at the Grand Wailea.  The layout is less forboding than the Four Seasons nearby.  The lobby bar makes spectacular specialty drinks.

Here's the challenge for the Kea Lani:  at what point do you say that the rating needs to be adjusted for value?  Be prepared to pay upwards of $500 for a room that doesn't face a dumpster in peak season.

If you don't care about money, stay here and enjoy the experience.  It's no bargain, but it is also a beautiful place.

Ok so I have been staying here with my family for quite a few years.  We have witnessed it move from chic privately owned resort to typical tacky motif-ed chain hotel.

That being said, I won't bash it TOO much from here on out.  Maybe.  The Fairmont Kea Lani has recently changed its rooms within the past 2 years I believe and sadly not for the better.  We got an upgrade to the  Kilohana Signature Suite because the jerks at the front desk messed up our request.  So I guess they aren't jerks anymore... and the front desk woman was nice in that warm Hawaiian way as well... but in ANY case on with my review.  The actual floor plan is the same, they couldn't deny it's original tasteful set up.  But much to my horror upon walking into our room I notice disgustingly bright green plant patterned curtains.  Grotesque dark laquered, faux bamboo cabinet housing the TV, band-aid-hued carpet, and the bedroom- holy hell I felt like I was in the Maui Wowie Motel 6 .  I'm sorry but I thought that higher-end resorts were trying to steer away from hokey Hawaiian-American decor.  I mean hell, the Four Seasons blows them out of the water.  I mean, throw me a coconut guys.  Once I moved past the angry stage, the sadness set in.  No longer was it nicely appointed with glorious white linens and light window treatments.  It didn't feel like "home" anymore.  (Ok, I get that you are probably thinking, "um... a hotel felt like 'home'?!" but please understand, we've been going to the same place annually for the past 9 years...)

Sorry for digressing, I didn't keep my word and hacked on it more.  I'm beyond caring at this point.

The bathrooms are glorious!  But that wasn't surprising.  It seems that Fairmont's attempt at renovating to save funds would not include ripping out tons of beautiful caramel slate put in by the former, way better taste equipped owner.  A full soaking tub with a separate open shower beckons to you after a long day in the surf and sun.  Two pedestal sinks sit either next to or opposite one another, depending on your room setup, of course, with large mirrors all over the place.  You can checkout your new tan-lined naked body from all angles pretty much if you so choose.  The bathroom is definitely my favorite.

Our lanai (that's deck for you mainland folk) had a heavenly panoramic view.  I am quite relieved that the Fairmont didn't somehow mess with that too.  Believe me if they had ruined that too... I would have found the nearest executive and somehow, SOMEHOW strangled them with a kukui nut lei.  In any case, we could see the neighboring islands of Kaho'olawe and Lana'i, the crater Molokini, and a portion of the majestic slope of Maui's dormant volcano, Haleakala.  The sunsets were incredible from our room.  So choice.

The grounds are impeccable.  .  They meander through the property leading you to 3 of their various pools, one is for adults only- a nice reprieve from the "Stroller Brigades" and other loose children running around like banshees.  They also have a water slide which is awesome sliding down late at night while tipsy and covered in soap.  Just make sure the security guards don't see you...  That makes for an awkward time.  Ahem.  The adult pool added these cool new leafy looking chaise lounges that fit one or two quite comfortably.  Very nice for a romantic time I am sure.  And if you are not one for the sun, rent a cabana and get some nice service too-- your choice of beverages in a cooler brought by a pool boy.  They also give out complimentary pineapple slices and chilled towels to everyone in the late morning and early afternoon.

The beach is beautiful, they offer a 7 am outrigger experience every morning and they supply snorkel equipment to rent.  If you are there during whale season swim out a bit and put your head under.  You can hear the whale songs while watching the multi-colored tropical fish swimming around you and occasionally see a big sea turtle the size of a trash can lid.  Just be sure to not get eaten by a large tiger shark or great white.  I'm serious.

So all in all, if you like cheesy Hawaiian decor, or at least don't mind it, this place is pretty rad.  The grounds are still my favorite when compared to the Four Seasons and Grand Wailea.  The staff is dedicated to doing a good job- the wait staff for breakfast are some of the nicest people you will meet on your trip.

Mahalo and Aloha.

We went to Maui for our 3 year anniversary and we decided to spend one night at the Fairmont. We stayed there when we got married, and thought it would be nice, even if it was for just one night. We were greeted by the valet who took our car and the overzealous juice lady. She offered us leis and juice and while we were checking in she "sidled" up to us (scared the crap out of us) and offered us more juice. Matt checked us in and we had mentioned that it was for our anniversary and imagine our surprise when he mentioned that he upgraded us. We had originally booked a partial ocen view and we got upgraded to a deluxe ocean view! Yay!  We had to wait for a little while for our room to be ready, no biggie, we went to the pool bar for lunch. They called us when our room was ready. Danny was the bellhop who was so very nice and he was the same bellhop who assisted us 3 years ago! Our room was wonderful! Beautiful view! I headed out to get my spa treatment and Mr. T headed out to the swim up pool bar....We reconvened at around 6 and we had champagne waiting for us from the hotel in our room! Thanks Fairmont! A little later, all of housekeeping showed up to give us a nice picture frame. We got room service (a tradition of Mr. T and I, one night we splurge and get room service). All in all, the Fairmont treated us very well and one day we will stay more than one night. I promise! Thank you Fairmont, for providing us with a wonderful memory!
