This place as gone downhill. The service was bad and the food was worse. Waited an hour for missing, burnt, and greasy food while the bartender (not any servers there) took shots with patrons.

Let me start by saying.... The biggest reason this restaurant is getting one star is it's infested with ROACHES & MICE! While having dinner and drinks with friends, we had a terrifying experience! We came to the restaurant at the request of one of the members of the group who is a regular here. I've been to the place before several times, mostly to grab a beer with this same person. It's never been my top choice on bars or restaurants but I go along to keep the boyfriend happy while he visits a friend. Nice staff, but the place is dark, dirty, and the food is not terribly fresh. Well, after the most recent dining experience I can say I won't be coming back. Dinner was unimpressive to say the least, but edible. We each order several rounds of drinks spanning at least a 2 hour period. Nothing alarming until we decide to leave and the waitress is nowhere to be found. The place is empty except our group of 4. So eventually, we all get up from our table and go to the bar to close out our tabs. To the horror of our group there were NO LESS than 20 roaches of varying sizes crawling all over the bar. The bartender/waitress was still where to be seen, and so I walked toward the end of the bar closest to the kitchen to poke my head behind the curtain and see if I could get her attention so we could get the heck out of roach town. At this point, it got worse.... Much worse. Roaches were crawling all over the end of the bar near kitchen. Practically swarming the silverware, napkins, and condiments. Then as my eyes shifts toward the kitchen, I discovered the roaches were fleeing the kitchen in a steady stream. Finally the waitress/bartender appeared and she said there was someone treating for insects in the kitchen. Then I pointed out the roaches and she started freaking out as well. I was very shocked that someone would think it was a good idea to treat for insects in a restaurant kitchen during business hours... while FOOD is being served. The waitress confessed this is an ongoing problem and in addition to roaches there is a huge rodent problem.
So to get to the point. I'd avoid this place.
Like I mentioned before, I have visited this place at least 7 times, and was never tremendously impressed. It's a rather typical local dicey divey bar that also serves food. The drink prices are cheap, it's open all day, it's dark and gloomy inside. The bar attracts and handful of local regulars who seem to show up like clockwork and assume their positions at the bar as if the place had assigned seats. I love me a good hole-in-the-wall, but this place just had a dirty, sticky, grimy feel to everything and it seemed like everyone there was sad and simply going through the motions. No one seemed to take pride in anything. Alas, I have a friend who absolutely LOVES this place.... So I kept coming back at his request.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Peach M.Fairhope, AL36152169Aug 22, 2022
This place has great burgers and nachos. Now don't go expecting the Ritz, as it has a REAL dive bar look when you enter. The staff is super friendly and like I said, the food is tasty! We didn't try a mixed drink, but the beer was extra cold, just the way I like it!

Like other reviews suggest, this is not a fine dining restaurant. The beer was cold the food was good and the staff is friendly though. Nice local dive bar, I'd go back for the wings and the best crispy fries.

I was served a completely raw burger that I requested medium well. I also requested extra sauce & cheese and I received neither, actually no sauce of any kind. I did not receive any dressing for my salad either. This was a to-go order and they were closed by the time I got home. I know it was 30 minutes prior to closing but you couldn't cook the burger another 5 minutes?! It was my first and last time ordering from there

Decided to try FGB once again. I always get the Garbage Burger sans jalapeños, but I wanted to shake things up. So I ordered the grilled Mahi Mahi with slaw and grilled new potatoes.
I was very pleasantly surprised by the seasoning, cook and freshness of the fish. Top quality and not at all "bar food" as one would expect from a grill and bar. It was a nicely executed dish.
From their burgers, appetizer rolls, salads, wings, etc, anyone would have a hard time disliking the food at FG&B. I would not recommend the Reuben, they grill the corned beef, and it's not to my taste, but every other item on the menu is top quality.
Highly recommendedHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Sep 20, 2016Previous reviewHeard that Chef Julwin sold the restaurant. We are hoping that this does not effect the quality or consistency of the food. Fairhope's Grill And Bar continues to be one of the finest lunch and "bar food" establishment on the Eastern Shore. They consistently crank out quality food, and their service is up to the task.
I would hate to think that the restaurant's quality of food and service could diminish. That would be a shame. The burgers continually set the bar for the Mobile area and their wings are better than anything that we have found on the Eastern Shore. Every dish that we have tried has been top notch. Their Shrimp Caesar salad, which I enjoyed the other day, is awesome.
Stay tuned....Jun 18, 2016Previous reviewOkay, the burgers are back on point. Patties are now thick enough that they can continue cook them to order.
If you want a great burger, Fairhope's grill and bar is highly recommended.
Somebody listened. Yay!!!Sep 20, 2015Previous reviewTried the burger again. Patty is way too thin. The.cook just cannot cook the burger to order any more. I actually talked to him to see if he could make the patty smaller but thicker. He said that he would, but my medium rare burger came back medium plus.....again. I will never order a burger from this joint again. Soooo disappointed. Used to be my favorite burger joint, now, it doesn't even register. Such a shame.
Dec 5, 2014Previous reviewI am sitting at Fairhope's Grill and Bar for lunch.....again. This establishment has become my family's go - to restaurant in Fairhope. The food is outstanding. I have had the Ahi tuna sandwich, wings, and burgers. Everything so far has been outstanding.
Our favorites are the Golden Wings(my 10 year old's favorite), Cheese Quesadilla(3 year old's go to) and Garbage Burger. I nominate the Garbage Burger (minus the jalapeños for my taste) for best burger in the Southeast. And I have eaten a ton of burgers. My old favorite is the Bacon Cheddar burger at The Painted Pig in Canton, Ga....but not anymore. I spoke with the owner, Teri, and she said that her secret was good,, fresh ingredients first....then good cooking. I cannot agree more.
Kudos to Fairhope's Grill and Bar for some of the best "bar" food in Fairhope. They have TVSs to satisfy the sports fan in everyone, but it's the food that keeps this family from coming back time and again. Great job!!!
Well, they changed their patties of their burgers to make them thinner. The last few times they are just not the same. The cook can't get the temp right and they came out overdone. Too bad. Docked a star. - Carol B.Las Vegas, NV314Nov 26, 2022
This place has really gone downhill. The wings we ordered were small and so overcooked, the chicken meat was dried up. The cook/owner was notified and he could've cared less. I wasn't asking for my money back nor did I want a new order of wings because the quality of the wings he was serving were awful. I just wanted to let him know this wasn't acceptable food to serve. He didn't apologize and got very upset that I was even questioning him. I've been to this restaurant only a couple times and it's always hit or miss as far as the food/service goes, but I've learned my lesson. I'm done with this place. It's a hole in the wall bar that's dark & dirty. Beware!

My son and I went there for an early lunch right before 11. The atmosphere was kind of like your home town bar/eatery. The bar/waitress was very nice and accommodating. I had a cheeseburger with roasted potatoes and my son had a deli sandwich with sweet potato fries. The burger was massive and they asked me how I wanted it cooked, which I loved so I knew it wouldn't be well done, because if they don't ask, you will be eating a piece of leather I assure you. My roasted potatoes were delicious, I didn't have to dip them in anything, I had them just the way they were. My son loved his sandwich and ranted about the sweet potato fries, he said they were the best he'd ever had. I had only one complaint and that is the burger didn't come with any condiments on it so I had to get packets of mayonnaise and that mayonnaise tasted like miracle whip mayonnaise and I slathered it on it thinking it would be normal Mayo but so sweet. I had to scrape it off. Next time it's Hellman's in my pocket...

Sometimes you wanna go... we were first timers, so no one knew our names. The bartender did know the many regulars in there by name. It's no surprise this place has regulars because it's quite a gem!
We bellied up to the bar and sampled a few beers before settling on one. I had some sort of fruity chick beer and my hubs had a more manly brew. They switch up the craft beer selection regularly. They have a few staples on tap and bottles as well. The bar appeared to be fairly well stocked with liquor if mixed drinks or on-the-rocks are your beverages of choice.
We started our order with fried cheese curds, which is a favorite of ours. They came served with some sort of ketchup that had basil and other spices in it. I think I would've preferred marinara or ranch, to be honest. The curds were still perfectly cooked and they certainly didn't skimp on the portion size. I had a tuna wrap with fried potatoes and the hubs had a Reuben with onion rings. The sides were definitely the stars of the show. It's not every day you see fried potatoes on a menu and their menu stated they were a customer favorite. I can see why. The Reuben and tuna wrap were good but not likely to be our go-tos.
Despite being located in a strip mall, the place had a great hometown pub atmosphere. The bartender was the only staff we met, and he was friendly and welcoming. The place was not fancy or uppity, nor was it divey. It was just right and comfortable. There were a few tvs playing. It wasn't loud, crowded or rowdy. There were a few children in there eating lunch with their parents. This is the kind of place you want to go to relax and unwind and I can definitely see us going back.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0 - Tina C.Fairhope, AL19913Jul 26, 2019
The best wings we have ever had!! That's saying a lot because we are foodies. My friend suggested this place because she said it's the best food in Fairhope.... hidden little gem. She gets the ahi tuna tacos. I brought another friend and she had the mahi fish tacos. Again said best ever! And we have some amazing food in these parts! It was about time I put in a review. It's not fancy, very casual but I love hidden gems so If you do as well don't miss out!
I will be telling all of my local friends
