My nephew was playing basketball at Concordia University, so we decided to drive down to Portland and find a place to stay close to the school.  This place was very close (less than 10 minutes to the University) and had a great price (I think we paid $79 including tax).  This is one of three Marriott properties located in the same complex and all three of the buildings look quite new.  They weren't very busy while we were there so it was easy to grab a spot right in front of the lobby each time we came and went.  If you are planning on visiting downtown Portland, it was a quick 10 minute drive in and we didn't have any problems with traffic during the weekend.  The rooms were decent sized and clean.  The free wireless internet worked great.

The only negative was that it is very close to I-5, so there is a bit of road noise.  I didn't notice it buy my boyfriend pointed it out.  They actually give you one of those white noise machines in your room so I fell asleep listening to ocean waves and slept peacefully all night.  The pool and hot tub were closed for maintenance while we were there, but they told us we could use the one at the Courtyard across the street if we wanted.  The gym had two nice new looking treadmills and an elliptical.  The continental breakfast was decent, the typical cereal, waffle station, pastries, fruit and yogurt.  They also had these little frozen Jimmy Dean sandwiches and quiches that you could heat up in the microwave if you wanted something warm.

Overall, for under $80 near downtown Portland, with parking, breakfast and internet included, I doubt you'll find a better value.  I'd definitely stay here again on my next visit.

I stayed here on a Saturday night after an all-day event at the nearby Portland Expo center. I was looking for somewhere with a free breakfast, free parking and wireless internet for a decent price, so I picked this one.  I could see the hotel from the freeway, but it was a little hard trying to actually get to it in the dark - the only thing I didn't like.

Once we got there, I was very impreessed with their lobby, and the staff were beyond excellent; they seemed actually happy to be there. Everybody we talked to was smiling and friendly.  The room was extremely clean, and a decent size.  We had neighbors that attended the same event as we did, and we never heard any noise from them or from passersby in the hallway. The beds were super, but I do like a softer bed.  I couldn't hear ANY road noise at all, and did take advantage of the sound machine (I have the same one at home and was thrilled to see it there).  Our room faced the parking lot, so maybe thats why we didn't hear any road noise.  Their breakfast selection was beyond what I expected - Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches, little quiches, a waffle bar, cereal and breads, oatmeal with all the fixin's, yogurt and fruit.  They even had skim milk, which I appreciated.

Their hot tub wasn't working, so they invited us to go across the street to another Mariott property (which was gorgeous and had river views).  They took care of us over there, and our whole experience was beyond our expectations for a hotel off the freeway and near a convention center!  Like other reviewers mentioned, it's not right near a whole lot, as far as restaurants and stores, but its just 1 exit south of the Jantzen Beach area, which has a bunch of places to eat, grocery stores, and shopping.  I'd absolutely stay there again.

I like Fairfield Inn's because you get a free breakfast, free internet, decent beds and bedding, and usually free parking.  This one is new with nice decor, but a little out of the way, and if we didn't have a GPS, we would have been totally lost trying to find our way to the driveway that led to the hotel.

Our room was on the 2nd floor (of 3), and faced the parking lot.  The brightest light I have ever seen in a parking lot was shining right in our room all night, and the blackout shades were not able to make it dark enough.  There was also a lot of noise (thin walls and floors), so I would stay on the top floor next time.  Kindly enough, they do provide white noise generators in the rooms, and a clock radio that has a connection for your iPod.

Definitely an OK place to stay for a night or two.

I had no idea that a hotel could be this inexpensive and yet SO NICE. The decor was a little bit modern and funky, with bright colors and mismatched patterns. We stayed in a single king bed room and were surprised by how nice it all was for the cost. The bathroom was spacious and the room was minimalist and comfortable. My one complaint was that the fan in the bathroom wasn't very strong and after 30 seconds of the shower running the entire room was overrun with steam.

The pool and hot tub were clean and well kept and even though we were there on a Saturday night... empty. We had the whole pool area to ourselves. The breakfast was good, but a little bit carb heavy. I would have liked more fruit choices and maybe some more protein available, but it was tasty... The staff was friendly, though not really memorable. They were good at their jobs without really going above and beyond. The coffee was a little gas-station-y, but digestible. I'd totally stay here again. In fact, I plan to.

I enjoy my stay here with my husband and daughter I found this place on Yelp and warned about break ins and loud freeways I had no problems with neither.  Staff were friendly nice reliable I had ask for five comfoter blankets because bed was way too hard and wasn't use to it they gave it to us right away. Overall they made us felt comfortable!

The pluses: brand new so everything is clean and smells fresh; friendly staff; wireless internet with no access code required; decent breakfast that also includes hot food (Jimmy Deans sandwiches though so high in sat fat); firm beds; perfect shower.
The negatives: kind of in the middle of nowhere in a work zone so you'll have to drive to grab something nice to eat for dinner; small fitness center; really thin walls so you can hear the road and your neighbors.
OK place to stay for a night or two.

I absolutely love this hotel!! I've stayed here twice and each time the staff was extremely helpful, friendly, and talkative. You definitely get wayyy more than you pay for here.

There's 24 hour coffee which I found to be AMAZING. The breakfast in the morning is delicious and there's something for everyone, even a make your own waffle machine!!

The rooms are really nice and the bathrooms are huge. I really liked Brandon, he was so nice and helped me figure out which spots to hit when I first arrived in Portland. Everyone at the hotel is awesome and really really nice. Stay here if you get the chance!!

One thing I really enjoy is that there are two other Marriott's right next to this one and so you're allowed to use the amenities at all of them. Next door there's an outdoor pool and the fitness center has free weights if you don't just want to do cardio or be in an indoor pool. SO AWESOME.

Also there's a free airport shuttle! Awesome. But if you want to get from the airport to the hotel you need to call them ahead of time so they know to come get you! Best place to stay, hands down.

I'd seen a review that warned about some of the rooms being noisy so I asked for a quiet room when I made the booking.  I was assured that I would be put in the quiet part of the hotel.  Then later I confirmed the reservation and confirmed that I would be in a quiet room.  Then when I checked in I was again assured that the room was quiet.  However, it was very noisy with the traffic of a major highway nearby.  When I asked to be moved to a quiet room I was told that I was in the quiet part of the hotel.  Apparently, all the rooms are noisy!

i recently stayed here for a quick getaway from Seattle.

at first, i was a bit apprehensive about staying here because of it's location relative to downtown Portland - it's about a 15 minute drive south.

however, it terms of cleanliness and cost (got a deal for $70/night), this place did the trick.

the front desk people were very nice and accommodating, we were able to check in a few hours earlier, no problem.
also, since the hotel was in vicinity of two other marriott-chained hotels, we were told that we had access to their pools and exercise rooms which we of course took full advantage of.

the room itself was spotless and the queen beds were pretty comfortable, i slept like a log. it also came with a flat hdtv and free wifi access.

they also serve complimentary breakfast every single morning in the lobby which of course, we couldn't pass up. nobody ever says no free food, c'mon.

fyi, parking is complimentary which was a plus.

    free food+cheap room+free parking+hot tub = i approve.

Just your average hotel.  The staff is friendly and helpful, as are the maids.  The standard rooms do not have refrigerators or microwaves.  The TV is a flat-screen though the channels are lacking.  Wireless and wired Internet are free, and they have a free continental breakfast every morning.  Parking is free, there is an indoor pool, exercise room (two treadmills and an elliptical) and coin operated laundry.  The carpet is slightly garish but adds a nice effect while walking the halls alone in the middle of the night.  The hotel is all nonsmoking but ash trays are provided at the exits.  They have a business center that allows you to check email, stocks, etc and print.  Overall it's a pleasant stay, nothing spectacular but nothing bad either.

My boyfriend and I stayed here on a whim a few months ago. We made the mistake of staying at a different hotel the night before (Red Lion in Vancouver) which was more expensive for a smaller room and you had to pay for breakfast, etc. We were planning to drive back home to Kent, WA (a 2-3 hour drive) but realized after eating a huge meal at Joe's Crab Shack in Vancouver that we needed to stay in the area one more night. We looked up nearby hotels on the GPS, called around, and decided to come here. The price was VERY nice for a Saturday night in the "executive room" (2 flat screen TV's, pull out couch, king size bed, microwave, fridge, wifi, etc.)... I believe it was about $80, much cheaper than what we had just paid the night before to stay at the Red Lion. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful, and we of course enjoyed the free continental breakfast in the morning. We definitely look forward to visiting this hotel again!
