6 reviews for Fairfield Inn & Suites
The Marriott Fairfield Inn & Suites was a good find for a group of 10 to stay in Napa for a reasonable price. A close 10-15 minute drive outside of Napa made it very convenient.
Fact or fiction, a friend noted it was built upon an Indian burial ground. Despite my silliness & fear since it was the day after Halloween, I planned to do some late night pow wowing with some friends and sleep next to Indians...
Now the suites (which a friend paid for, which was roughly $100), were very clean. Two queen beds, a pull out sofa bed, tv with free cable, free wireless internet, and even a mini kitchen with microwave, fridge, and sink! They even offer a gym, pool, business center with computer, and free continental breakfast (waffles, bagels, cereal, coffee, etc.). And plenty of spacious parking.
They seemed pretty friendly, except I didn't run into too many workers. With the exception of the room nazi that made his rounds down the hall letting us know we have neighbors around and below us... understandable-a group of young asian hooligans.
Now the weird part: Room 222 that we stayed in seemed to be the ONLY room with a weird buzzer button by the front door. What is it for? No clue! It clearly wasn't a doorbell, so it ultimately ended up being a button your friends decide to annoy the crap out of you at 2 am. The sound it made: the high pitched yapping sound your little tiny floofy dog makes when you step on it.
So despite the yapping buzzer, I had a good stay thanks to Marriott. I'm sure I will consider staying here again someday soon! :)

We stayed here for two nights during our trip to Napa.
If I had written this review after the first night, it would have been 4-5 stars... maybe 5, honestly, and it would have looked something like this: Fairfield Inn and Suites is awesome for the price! It's located just a quick drive away from Carneros and Napa Valley wineries, which can't really be beat. We got a killer deal on travelocity and only spent a little over $100 a night (during the week). It was a happy surprise that the room came with a kitchenette (sink, fridge, microwave) and mini-living room/sitting area. The bathroom was big, the room was comfortable (though ours smelled like smoke despite it being a non-smoking hotel), and the tv had a sleep timer--bonus points! They have a pretty good continental breakfast with waffles, french toast, bagels, muffins, cereal (hot and cold), breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, fruit, etc. It wasn't too crowded, even though we went down toward the end, and the food was plentiful and yummy. The pool area by the hotel was also nice, the hotel staff was friendly, and it was pretty quiet.
Sadly, we stayed a second night. Based on that night alone, the review would probably be 2 stars, and would go something like this: Although there were some nice things about this hotel, the thin walls and other guests all but destroyed the experience for us. My parents, staying on the third floor, did not sleep at all, courtesy of their neighbors' TV being on so loud that they could hear the program as if it was on in their own room. Problem was, it sounded like it was coming from all around them, and they didn't know who to complain to the front desk about. The TV stayed on until about 5 or 6am. Just after 6am, children, also presumably staying on the 3rd floor, began running around (which shook our walls down on the 2nd floor) and banging into things, including walls shared with my parents. It woke us up, and the running and stomping continued until we went to breakfast at about 9am. When we got to breakfast, we were sad to see that there were 3 hard-boiled eggs, no muffins, and generally just little to choose from. Funny because the day before we went down LATER and there was more food. I don't think it's too much to ask to have walls thick enough so you can't hear your neighbors' every action and to replenish the continental breakfast as needed.
So... I guess it depends when you visit this hotel. Wednesday night was great. Thursday night was horrible. Maybe its better if you go Sun-Wed nights. Try it out at your own risk.
I work for Marriott so I have stayed at many using my great employee discount and my one complaint about all Marriott's that I have stayed at is that Marriott beds are soooo not comfortable. But low and behold The Fairfield Inn & Suites in American Canyon! Beds are crazy comfy! Slept like a gem my whole trip.
Stayed here during the Sonoma Jazz Festival. Price was $180 per night plus $18 tax for a regular room with 2 queens. Room comes with a small kitchenette & a sitting area. The bed wasn't very comfortable; gave me back pain the next day. Despite that, it was clean and neat. Breakfast is complementary until 10am. Internet & printing in the lobby is free, but slow.
It was birthday time 2x 72 and we were in Napa (American Canyon) for couple of days to ascend Balloons Above the Valley, (another great story).. As we always are out and about and spend very little time at our hotel, our requiremrnts are:
1) King
2) Clean
3) Quiet
4) Comfortable, roomy
5) Bright well lighted and warm bathroom.
6) 6:00am Breakfast
all else is a bonus
These requirements usually take me to a of Holiday Inn Express
This time nothing came close ( including Holiday Inn Express) to 140 award poins and rave reviews.
So we gave Marriott a try.
A+ in all respects, except perhaps the mattress which could be just a bit firmer says my wife (others have also commented). You can delete the fatty Jimmy Dean sausage & Burrito (ugh)
plus
space to move around
kitchenette
sitting room
friendly, accomodating and informative staff that went out of their way to please us
Marriot Fairfield is our new 1st choice
I'm all about judging a place against a reasonable set of expectations. That being said, when I book at a Fairfield Inn, it is for the following reasons (1) Clean rooms, (2) Free Breakfast, (3) Reasonable Cost. This particular Fairfield Inn exceeded my expectations. First of all, we were assigned to a suite, meaning we not only had the king size bed and bath, but also a couch, stuffed chair, coffee table, a little refrigerator, microwave and kitchen sink. The room was very clean upon check in and the staff did a great job maintaining that cleanliness throughout our 3 day stay. The breakfast was enough to kick start our day (bagels, toast, fruit, waffles, some breakfast sandwiches etc). Reasonable cost--Okay full disclosure--I work for Marriott so I get the awesome Associate Discount. However even without the discount, rooms here average $129/night. Quite a decent cost! The staff here is very friendly and took great care of us. If you don't mind driving into the City of Napa (about a 15 minute drive), this is a great option for your Wine Country stay. Also note that there isn't quite the quaint charm of Napa in American Canyon, but it was still very pleasant.
