Faicco's is hands down the best butcher in the Northeast. My grandmother has been shopping here longer than I've been alive (so at least 30 years, let's just leave it at that). Every Christmas Eve, we all look forward to the stuffed pork loin that she gets from Faicco's.
Whenever I come back to visit family, I stop in and make sure to stock up, particularly on the sausage rings (amazing grilled!), rice balls, potato croquettes and prosciutto balls. They also have some homemade entrees in the refrigerated case that are a great addition to a family meal or they have sizes large enough to feed a family.
I am really jealous that we have NOTHING like this in Boston, there is no where to go for the freshest home made sausages and italian eats like this.
I went for my first time and am totally impressed by the selection of meats, sausages and prepared foods.
Things I bought:
Cheese Sausage Ring
Chicken Sausage Links
Rice Balls (omg yum)
Prosciutto Balls (omg yummier)
Fried Ravioli
Lard Bread (holy crap amazing)
A note about the sausage. Just looking at it you see how amazingly fresh and home made it is, and also, its not filled with fat. There is some, yes but its not like supermarket sausage. Totally worth every penny.
Finally someone who knows how to dry sausage. Thank You
Maybe I love this place because the smell reminds me of the Italian deli my father used to take me to.
Or maybe it's because they have pictures of pigs donning bows and hats posted on the side of a freezer.
Or maybe, just maybe it's because they have high-quality meats, cheeses and prepared dishes.
Maybe it's all of these things.
Only bummer is their hours aren't friendly to my work schedule - but it's worth waiting till Saturday to stock up on the goodies Faicco's offers.
For as long as I can remember my grandmother has been going to Faicco's pork store. Louie, the owner is a great guy (his wife taught my kindergarten class, awwwww) and my grandmother absolutely adores him. Every piece of meat my grandmother prepares is delicious, no doubt, because she got it at Faiccos! Good stuff!
hands down..the best pork store in NYC. chicken sausage is like heaven!
try it for your next barbeque.
the lard bread is deliciously shaped like bagels to make it an easy breakfast snack. it is so good. great meat selection. spicy sopressata is delicious and homemade. you can watch workers making sausages in the store front next door. definitely worth the trip. i can't go often because i spend too much.
