LOVE Fado...

Even though I recently discovered that it is part of a chain.  But, I guess that means they're doing something right :).

I know nothing of the nightlife of this bar, so refer to other reviews if you're looking for something about how awesome Irish Car Bombs are at 1am....

I come here for the beer and the Chicken Pot Pie after work.  The drafts are fantastic, the atmosphere is great, some of the waitresses have accents (yep, they're real!), the seating and rooms are unique, and most of all, the food rocks my world.

This place makes my mouth water just thinking of it.  Really, try the pot pie.  It's a little different, not the dough-encased frozen food aisle kind of pot pie, but a gravy-veggie-chicken filled dish topped by a flaky puff pastry, with salad on the side.

and a side note, they'll even pack it up for you to-go style for lunch or dinner, with all the pieces separate so nothing gets soggy.  WHAT!?  No..I'm not addicted enough to have EVER done that before......

(....'scuse me while i place my take-out order....)

I'm not really a fan of the cookie cutter "Irish pub" and so had never been in before last Friday night. Some friends of mine were drinking here though so I decided to stop by since I was downtown anyway.

I was impressed! Even though it was crazily busy, we had good service at the table and the bartender was friendly when I went up to ask him a question. There was a band playing and while I can't usually stand live music in bars, these guys were pretty good and it wasn't too loud even though it was in the room next to ours.

We had a few beers and split the black and tan brownie dessert which involved Guinness ice cream. SOLD. I didn't look at the rest of the menu but if there's anything vegetarian to be had, I'll be back to eat!

Self proclaiming Irish themed pub falls right into my catagory of; the boyfriend jean.
Its not trying to look as a standout spot, just keep itself tucked into the comfort zone of locals-tourists. Large space, good seating, attentive servers, and I was impressed by the food being what the place is trying to be.
I had a tomato-basil-monzzerella salad with a fantastic tomato basil soup!
This place is best served for your manly-esque guy friends who want it casual but not entirely loose.

Cheers!

The menu is not vegetarian-friendly but hey its Irish food right? They have a good Happy Hour until 7:00pm and the food is really good.

They also have a fun trivia night on Wednesdays but good luck getting a table because the regular teams reserve all of them ahead of time.

What to order (Happy Hour): Irish Smoked Salmon Bites and Corned Beef Rolls

I have been going to Fado for years. I really love this bar. It's a pretty good layout, lots of places to sit and they even have two bars, which is nice. They also have live bands on the weekends. This place gets super packed on St. Patrick's Day, but it's well worth the wait once you get it. Great selection of beer on tap and the bartenders are really cool. A must visit!

I have had a really good Shepard's pie here once for lunch. The food is really good and the old style Irish place is fun just in itself. Pretty big inside and you can go there for just drinks if you want. Staff was fun and friendly what more could you want from a place.

It's an Irish themed chain pub, what do you expect? Not much, really, but these guys and gals went above and beyond to take care of the hundred or so Chelsea supporters who converged on their bar last weekend (7/17-18/09)!

Thanks Fado for putting up with all of us!! The staff I encountered were really nice and the beer special was good too! Never a wait for the bathroom and the location is fantastic! Well done, folks!

I don't generally head over to Fado. However, we pre-funked here before a Seahawks game, and the bloody mary bar in the morning was pretty good.

Had happy hour here with friends, and the server made his rounds, food was pretty good as well. Trivia got piped into all the rooms, so no getting away from it.

I've manned up and paid the cover to come in at night when the bands play, and they are pretty loud.

I don't know why, but for some reason this place just doesn't stick in my mind as a destination, even though it's a pretty cool environment with lots of different areas to hang out. My experiences here are 4 star for sure, though.

Caught the tail end of happy hour as we threw a farewell party for one of our coworkers. I was a bit disappointed (though rather amused) with Fado even before stepping into the place. They have a sign outside that says to ring for handicapped assistance, below... a filled up hole where I imagine the doorbell used to be. Guess they don't want my business? One of my coworkers went in to ask them for help, but, while they have a lift on the side, it happened to be broken. Go figure. Got my coworkers to gently manhandle me into the pub instead.

So after sitting down, a couple of us ordered the lamb sliders, salmon bites, corned beef rolls, and boxty fries. The sliders were pretty good, salmon bites rather salty (but it's smoked salmon, so to be expected), corned beef subpar and soggy, and boxty fries good but meager. For the amount of food each dish was, even happy hour prices seemed a bit on the high end - I'd say that the sliders were the only good value dish there. I also ordered their Strongbow Cider, which is the first time I've had beer cider before - I like it, much more than any other beers I've had (but I'm still a hard liquor kind of guy).

I was absolutely and completely impressed with Fado last night!
Ian M set reserved a room for us, and it was great.

Our service was FAST, our waiter was always checking to see if we needed anything. My quesadilla was tasty, even for an Irish pub.

In the end, when I paid my tab... the server was nice enough to give me a bus pass since I did mention I needed to catch the bus. Guess what? More tip for him.

Thanks Fado!

Mushrooms in wine sauce, mushrooms in wine sauce, mushrooms in wine sauce.

I don't mind that the girls who work here always seem to wish I was a dude- once that pile of steaming mushrooms in wine sauce is in front of me that is!  Of course I accompany this with a glass of red wine... Trivia night here is fun too- rowdy but not obnoxious.

All in all a decent place to wait for the boat.

The absent-minded Yelper strikes again!

Not recalling my attendance to Fado, I thought I would give a try at the anniversary of Ian's introduction to Yelp last night. Of course, the moment I stepped foot on the stairs, I remembered the douche baggery of an Irish bar so close to Pioneer Square.

I'm happy to report like all relationships, it's a combination of timing and qualities of the bar that make it or break it. Or perhaps in this case I was surrounded by very cool people aka Yelpers. Anyhow, the happy hour was excellent. The sliders were incredibly delicious. The salmon bites were to die for (even if it is only 3 for $5).

My recommendations: get yourself a table (or room) and hole yourself in and drink away your problems until the cows come home.

Probably the worst Irish food I've ever tried to eat, and I've eaten a lot of Irish food.

I figured ol' favorite corned beef and cabbage was a safe bet when trying Fado for the first time, but was thoroughly disappointed--the beef was so tough I could hardly chew it and the limp cabbage was salted to the point of being inedible. I tried my partner's food to make sure my meal wasn't randomly overspiced and found his meal equally excessively peppery.

This, combined with the rude waitress and incredibly loud atmosphere, makes me very disinclined to return.

If you want fresh black beer for breakfast while you watch your favorite EPL team and munch on an authentic breakfast sandwich, then FADO is the place for you.

The people who work there are wonderful for 7:00 am, and the number of TV's they have mean that you can most likely see your game. Brilliant!

Always been a fan of that dark wood irish ambiance and after Kells if I love any irish joint in town then it is Fado.

I love to call in sick at work to watch a Soccer game any afternoon at Fado. This place is for Guinness and Soccer lovers. The food well with rounds of Guinness I usually forget to order it, but so far I have tried their quesadilla which is great.

Its hard to find a spot to sit specially after Sounders win a game. So be prepared to raise a toast while standing.

A perfect fan club with good crowd.

Fado is a great little place.  I didn't see much of the bar, except the room the party I was attending was in, but it seemed like it was pretty crowded on a Wednesday evening - always a good sign.

The food was pretty delicious.  I had the Smithwick's sliders which looked tiny but were so filling.  I wasn't a fan of the boxies, or whatever they were called.  Pretty much they were french fries with seasoning and spices inside.  The waiter informed me they were "potato pancakes" not french fries, but after much drunken discussion with friends, we still couldn't tell the difference.

Wednesday was trivia night and it was quite difficult to hear the questions at times, but that could have been the rambunctious group I was with.  The service was a bit slow at points in the night, but I think the waiter working our room was just overwhelmed.  The wait staff was always friendly and having a place split up so many tabs when starting was fabulous.

I definitely hope to check this place out again sometime soon!

Came here for a happy hour with a group of my co-workers.

I wasn't impressed with their selection here of drinks/happy hour eats. There was only 1 beer, 1 wine, and 1 liquor that were discounted during their happy hour and the mini burgers that we had were a little too "fancy" and not what I was looking for.

The fries that we ordered were also EXTREMELY greasy. The bottom of the plate was literally wet and the fries were swimming in it.

All in all, wasn't a big fan. I'd rather go to the Brooklyn or McCormick's.

When I moved to the Northwest, I just had to visit Seattle...there's a mystique to the city that holds a great appeal to me that unfortunately transcends my ability to give it voice; more's the benefit to you, since you don't want to hea rme waxing romantic on my ideals.  While I love Portland and am extremely glad I live here, there are places in Seattle that seem just as much like home to me.  Fado is one of them.

While it may not be the most authentic of pubs, being a chain, it is still young enough to warrant recognition.  After all, Fado has taken up residence in some very slick digs, with large industrial windows surrounded by rich masonry and thick oak fixtures and floors - this place really captures the "foreigner's" perception of the city and concentrates it into a very enjoyable and relaxing environment.

Oh, I know, architecture is one thing; but then, how are the drinks and the food?  I have yet to be disappointed, and have not had a bad drink yet.  In fact, the Guinness is always ice cold and a little bit foamy (just how I like it!) and decently priced for Seattle.  Well drinks are always strong and I never found myself feeling cheated.

The food is also really great - I fell in love with their chips and rose sauce (please don't tell me what is in the sauce...for the love of God, I want to keep eating it...) and cannot get enough - in fact, invitations to our upcoming wedding should be arriving at an email inbox near you!  It is no exaggeration to say that they are some of the best chips I have had in any state, bar none.  Everything else is definitely above-average quality bar food, which should make some feel a bit better if they're looking for a place to down some booze-absorbing snacks!

It's definitely not perfect - the service, while quick and efficient, always seemed a bit brusque to me.  I felt tolerated, to be sure, but there was definitely the air of "go if you like...more will come to replace you..."  Not cool.

Fado is still a great place to hang out with friends; it's a simple choice when no one can agree on where to go, and will surely inspire more than a few good times!

Reasons - why I give Fado 4 stars.

Number 1 - I am English and I need English bacon (the cut is an English cut)
Number 2  - I watch English Football ( soccer to the rest of you ) and they show this live which makes a massive difference. Note they also show rugby  as well as American footie etc
Number 3 - The Guinness is good considering you aren't in Dublin
Number 4 - The breakfast sandwich is awesome..... and addictive
Number 5 - The people who go there to watch football are a great bunch of people.

Now I am a realist and  the downers are :
sometimes the service is a bit hit or miss
the rest of the food is mmmm... average
The breakfast tea is awful (they recently changed brands) and the coffee is well go to starbucks

however the black stuff is GOOD.
I recommend the bangers and mash but the gravy can be too thick for some people's comfort.

Accept I am hugely biased about the place because I love Liverpool FC, a English Premiership team and I get a decent cut of BACON.

Before embarking on the  90min underground tour we decided to have lunch.  After roaming the streets of Pioneer Square not finding anything to our liking.  We pretty much said next restaurant we see we are heading to it.
And there she was right across the street was Fado Irish Pub.

You walk in and pretty much sit where ever you want.  Our waitress was quick and helpful.  I asked her for a local Seattle beer and she suggested I try Manny's Pale Ale.  Very nice crisp pale ale with the slight taste of pine forest flavor.  LOL that is the best I can describe the green hopsy taste.  For lunch I ordered the fish and chips.  The fish was two large pieces of fresh cod battered a bit heavily.  Thick cut french fries and a side of coleslaw.  I am not a fan of coleslaw but this one was very light, with cabbage, carrots, and a fine slice of red onion.

Nothing to brag about this place, and there are probably better lunch spots in this area.  But with no Yelp help at the time and wanting to get food in our tummy's this place was A-Okay.

Fado is the default place for happy hour when my coworkers and i can't make up our minds on where to go. It is one of those places that are just easy and close and doesn't require much planning to go to if you're with a relatively large group of people.

There is a very decent selection of beers, mostly from the commonwealth, but a few NW beers too.

The food is very standard greasy bar food, albeit UK themed. Decent if you're starving or need to eat something before your third beer on an empty stomach.

All in all, a decent place that I'll always come back to because of convenience.

Take the #15, 18 or LINK Light Rail - Pioneer Square Station to get here.

Yesterday at lunch I realized that in 5 years, I've never been here when the sun was down.  I can't attest to how it is after dark, so my review is limited to the day time.

Countless mid-work-week lunches have I had here.  Always surprisingly airy, bright, friendly, and a nice moderate noise level despite the crowd of business folks gathered for a beer or so at lunch.  I've never been at a table for more than 5 minutes without having menus and my first beer.  I've never been served food that wasn't exactly as described and exactly as expected.  Servers and bartenders have always been pleasant and accommodating.

At least a dozen weekend lazy afternoon has been spent kicking back enjoying a beer and a lunch and a beer, then perhaps another beer.  Very relaxed, again - prompt and friendly service, and a decent view of the game from most of the bar areas.

One very hung over mornings with an Irish National friend of mine.  He claims the Bangers and Mash are as bad as the one his mum makes, said as he was scraping the last bits from his cleaned plate and finished his third "hair of the dog".  Not sure much more needs to be said there.

A quick note to the Fado bartenders:  Hoegaarden is not served with a lemon wedge (orange baby!).

People keep asking me if I have this Bill jerk mixed up with somebody else.  No.  I know exactly who he is.  He's mid-30's, dark brown hair, I've seen him a couple times and he had glasses on the one time and didn't have them on the next time; and he's been known to call customers douchebags and talk down to the servers in front of customers, also.  So yes.  Same guy.

Came here for the after party of the Columbia tower climb a few weeks ago. I must say on this night I was in the right place. A whole bunch of buff firefighters you can't go wrong...haha

Anyway about the bar......

It seems like a pretty big bar with a lot of room. I like the decor and the vibe to this place. I didn't buy any of my drinks but from what I heard they seem to be priced fair.

I really want to come back and see this place on a regular night. Also I want to try their food!

I've been to Fado a number of times and had you asked me to rate it prior to last Friday night, I would've given them two stars. Not that three is that much more impressive, but for me it's the difference between "Yeah, okay, I'll meet up with you there" and "Hell to the NO, pick somewhere else to hang out."

Thankfully, if you're one of my besties you get a little bit of leeway on my diva antics. So when Mr. Dave M. suggested our group meet up at Fado before the Mariners game he had scored us tickets to, I agreed, though I was prepared not to enjoy myself.

Well, the company was delightful and so was our server Denise. Spunky, wee and a girl after my own heart, she made sure to check on us before happy hour ended and made sure that we all had the cheaper beer we could handle before we made our trek to Safeco. She happily took pictures of our goofy asses and we even convinced her to join in for some of them.

She had great recommendations off of the menu and no one was disappointed with her suggestions. Lordy, their fries are GOOD, people. Damn.

Even though she was almost too cool to work at Fado, the bottom line is that she was attentive, helpful, prompt and more fun than anyone who I've dealt with here before. Denise, you rock and single-handedly saved my opinion of Fado. YOU get 5 stars.

I've eaten here twice and had drinks here a few times. It's always a good time. Great beer selection and pretty good food.

So you know you're having a good time when you, a stable, sane, small framed woman of 23 almost start a fight with a large nasty man 3 times your size.

Oh yes, true story. This man was sitting with his back to our table and decided that about every minute he would turn around and make some comment about our conversation (and this was a strictly A and B conversation thank you very much). When my attempts at shutting him up only made him talk more, I started calling him every name under the sun and immediately make fun of his CAT hat. Oh yes, he was a heavy machinery man.

This most annoying man ever thought my friend was my husband, and decided that he would comment to him about how his wife was such a firecracker (and how did he keep me under control, etc etc), which heated this firecracker up even more! If my "husband" hadn't suggested I leave, I just might have slapped the guy.

And this was a work function...

Oh Fado, your plentiful supply of rough old men for me to fight with only makes me love you more.

For some reason I hadn't been to Fado until last night ..

I've always heard good things and finally made it over there to check it out for myself.

I love the chunky furniture and the vibe of the whole place. It's especially good if you're a soccer fan because they air live games from all over the world.  The food is also really tasty (I recommend the salmon bites!).

The Guinness is especially tasty and the patrons are a lot of fun. People really get into watching the games and it's fun even if you aren't a huge soccer fan.

Firstly let me say that I am not a huge fan of Fado but there is some astounding rubbish on here about it.  Angela M is possible the most arrogant and astounding idiot I have ever come across.  How much of an ego do you have to have to almost demand that they fire someone because you don't like them?  A lot, thats what I say. A hell of  alot.  What an absolute self important twat.  For the record I lived in Seattle for nearly three years and would frequent the place alot.  I have encountered Bill on many occasions(i assume she means Bill from Upstate new york) and he is a really great, nice friendly bloke and I knew alot of the staff in there and he seemed pretty popular with them too.  This may come as a shock to Angela M but sometime people do not like other people, personalities clash.....get over yourself and let it go.  I bet he thinks even less of you but he's not on the internet assuming people care.  No my rant is over back to Fado.  The food here is good.  Not amazing but good.  Its definately irish american and not irish but it is in America so hey.  AS for the authenticity of the place, well sorry to dissapoint all you people who say its nothing like ireland but it is.  Very like Ireland. 90% of pubs in ireland play this type of crappy pop music and are filled with drunken idiots like fado is, so get the idealised irish pubs out of your head.  Ireland is just not like that anymore.  The reason I used to go here was because it was just like a pub at home and it made me feel like I was back when I got home sick  The breckfast is amazing and they served lucozade which any irishman will tell you works wonders on hangovers.  All in all a great place with a decent atmosphere as long as you know what to expect and are in the mood for it on that particular night.. The best thig about this place is the staff.  Most of them are very cool, can't remember all the name sfrom when I was there but Sinead, Mush Sabra and Brandy all stick out.  I will defiantely visit when I am back in the Northwest.

Fado is kind of a rip off. $5.50 for a guinness! I am not really a fan of this place, kinda cookie cutter irish pub chain thing.

I went for drinks and some apps. and the total was over $30! for a fw beers and some crapy apps!!

I would have to say that this place had a more sports bar atmosphere but the staff was friendly and the food was pretty good. I didn't really like the seating arrangements- it seemed like the tables were not for smaller people (my feet couldn't touch the floor & the wood paneled wall at my back was hard & tall- which is how I like my men but not chairs) I am 5'6 and I know that I'm not that short. So anyway, I felt like Frodo Baggins eating at the local bar in the Shire.....
I did have a 'digestion problem' after eating there and I don't know what that was about! The food was pretty tasty though.

It was very fun.  We hang with another customer, an Irish-American person, I think.  The way he was drinking, he was not drinking a lot, made the server have a second thought about serving him another one.  He knew how to behave when it came to that.  I really hope to meet the fun person again.  I was too drunk to have my basic human communication skills when his friendly asking for my future contact info occurred.  The female server was very nice, I remember, she was fun.   I don't know if other nights can be that much fun, but i will go back next Sat.!

"Smoked Turkey RLT:  Sliced turkey breast with rashers (Irish bacon), lettuce, tomato and onion on a fresh baguette with mayo."  Snatched from the Fado website.

The above sandwich is pretty damn delicious and a great take on the BLT.

Service can be spotty sometimes, that old "Did our server teleport to another dimension or something, haven't seen her in a while?" thing seems to happen sometimes.

They do have a good beer selection, including Guiness and they serve Irish Car Bombs.  *Drool*

Went there with some co-workers a while ago and rugby was on.  They happened to be rugby fanatics and I learned that one of the key positions in a rugby match is the "Hooker."  Each team has a hooker.  I wished I knew what the hell was happening in the match, but it was enough finding out about the hookers.

You learn something new every day.  Thank you, dirty hookers!

Fine enough for a mid-week lunch, except when Euro soccer is playing. Sheesh! People need to bathe!

Excellent fried chicken salad, corned beef sammy, Irish brekkie, and Smithwick's and Black Velvets to assuage even the pompish of people. Yes, even the smelly ones.

Service is up and down, but the bad ones don't linger long at your table (they like to flirt with the bartenders), so there's that!
