So it's past my 6th month, and here it is! My skin has been doing well with this place, and I'm down to 6 week intervals with treatments. I love how smooth my skin feels when I lather! I get compliments frequently from friends and coworkers, which I don't get tired of. One of the last times I was there, one of the owners even asked if I was wearing makeup! (I wasn't...that's how awesome my skin is now!)
While it can be a little expensive, you have to take VALUE into consideration, and this place is definitely worth it. I get breakouts MUCH less frequently, and when I do, they're no where near as bad as they were in the past.
As I said already, the regimen is quick and simple (although this may vary for others), which makes it easy to stick to and is the key to getting results. The staff are sweet. And I LOVE booking my appointments online. I should clarify from my last review...you ARE, in fact, able to reschedule appointments online, and I have done this successfully several times. You just have to mention it in the optional message window and VOILA! (One of the owners messaged me soon after my first review and let me know that this was possible. I love awesome small business owners!)
If you've struggled with your skin as I have, get your butt down here already! If you live far away, do the long distance program!
The real test for my skin will be my upcoming trip to Hawaii in March. Every time I get to the islands, my skin freaks out, presumably from the humidity. We'll see what happens in another 6 months!1 Previous Review: Show all »

So far so good. I have no complaints. Apparently, my issue is not so bad - but for me, it felt like hell. I've never had such bad issue with Acne until this year. I'm so glad to have started this treatment with Face Reality. Whatever they're doing seems to be clearning my face up really well. The old acne scars are clearing up. I'm on pretty strict regimen, and no longer can I use my MAC makeup --- or MACne as they call it. :) Haha. Since I do a lot of performing, I'll need to figure out what makeup I can use to replace my MAC products.
Ok back to Face Reality. Everyone I have dealt with, from reception to the Aestheticians so far have been very nice, friendly, and knowledgeable. The place is clean. Smells good... like I said, I haven't seen anything yet that I don't like about Face Reality. Their service is not cheap, but also not unreasonable. Highly recommended!!! -

So, it's been a while since my first review, and I think everyone needs to know that my skin has continued to improve since my review, and I haven't had a breakout or even a full blown pimple in MONTHS...their program REALLY does work, and I'm clear enough to come in every 2mos now...or when ever I feel the need to go in!
I still stick to the plan religiously, and I'm still using all of their products. Now I'm using the Vitamin A serum because we're focusing on improving my skin even further than just preventing pimples! I also highly recommend coming here if you're getting a little older & your skin doesn't have that "glow" it used to, I'm sure they can help with some aging related conditions too, just call & ask!
I don't remember a time where my skin has EVER been this clear...However, I do remember when my skin was this smooth..I think the last time was maybe around age 13 or so...before hormones kicked in. It's CRAZY how they have acne down to a science, no matter what's causing it, THEY CAN FIX IT!
Another cool thing, is that they even got me started using sunscreen regularly, and not just on my face because it's required...I now use it on the rest of my body as well when I'm going to be outside for an extended amount of time. I also never used to wear sunscreen on my face because my makeup already had an SPF25 in it, but since some FRECKLES on my face started going away & getting much lighter...I want to keep those results & not have all that stuff come back because I went out in the sun & acquired MORE sun damage!!
This is a great place, even months down the road...it's still working & I even though I'm still clear, I already told myself I'm going to continue coming here as long as I'm within driving distance, and continue using their products...possibly forever!

Ok, I should have written this a long time ago. I tried everything, but
Face Reality WILL actually cure your acne! (I didn't believe it until I got the results.)
First of all, yes, it works. I've noticed: If I visit them once in a while + I use the products as they told me (twice a day) + I'm not too lazy to apply a creme at night or wash the face in the morning, there will be NO acne. If I forget to do any of the steps once - there will be one pimple, this is the rule for me :)
Second, I just don't understand those people, who say it's pricey. I just don't get it. Try to find another clinic, especially in SF, that will give you a facial for $75. I live in SF, but I'm ready to drive all the way to San Leandro, because I do get the results.

Face Reality rocks. If you have acne and are sick of it, don't bother with other "miracle" products and treatments, just go to Face Reality and do what they tell you to do. I was shocked when I saw results with them after 2 weeks. They asked me to bring in all of the products i used on my skin and I was appalled at the sheer amount of bottles that I found in my cabinets. Moreover, I added up the cost of all the products that I had to get rid of because of the skin irritants in them, and the cost of these products that I had accumulated over the course of no more than a year was more expensive than the treatments and products with Face Reality. It made me really sad that I hadn't found out about them sooner and had wasted my teens & early 20's throwing away money on anything to fix my face. My wallet would be so much happier, if only I had known.
The above paragraph completely encapsulates what I wanted to express, but to have any remaining doubts wiped away, here's a list of the things that will not work better than Face Reality...just for fun: Proactiv, any fancy expensive products(aka those from Macy's, Sephora, Nordstrom, etc.), 5 years of Doxycycline, 3 Years of Tetracycline, Differin Gel, 1 year of Erithromyacin, not eating chocolate, abstaining from processed foods, buying anything labeled "for acne prone skin" at the drug store, going to a chiropractor, begging a dermatologist for a face transplant, expensive phototherapy or laser treatments, squeezing your face to death, prayer circles, detoxifying masques, herbal remedies, steaming your pores, ritual animal slaughter(just kidding...kind of), becoming vegan, eating lots of grapefruit, and lastly cursing your family tree for its history of bad skin. -

I've been going here since 2006.
It's a little pricey, but the results are amazing. My skin is regularly clear now, only once in a while do I get a pimple or 2, as apposed to constantly being broken out all over my face on a regular basis.
In the past I've tried EVERYTHING over the counter, Proactive, Murad, Clean & Clear, etc. nothing worked.
Since I've been going here, I've gotten minimal amount of "breakouts" and my skin tone has evened out (I'm prone to hyper-pigmentation, especially where I get pimples).
Everyone is really nice, and now you can make appointments on-line or on the phone. Plus, they have make-up that better for your skin. -

Face Reality works miracles!
I tried Face Reality because of all its amazing reviews on Yelp. I was suffering from acne break outs since I was 13 years old and this is the only thing that actually worked for me! I've seen a dermatologist and prescribed a lot of acne medication and that only made my skin worst. I've also tried a lot of over the counter medication and that only dried my skin.
I've been coming to Face Reality since 2009 for at least once a month and their service have never failed me. What I love about Face Reality is their pressure-free environment. They truly care about helping improve and keeping your skin healthy. Their products and service are a bit pricey but I would not sacrifice the cost because they deliver great results! They also gave me a list of safe and unsafe face and body products, which truly shows how much they are dedicated to their clients. Each esthetician is very educated in informing you on how to achieve and maintain healthy skin. From their reception staff to esthetician, they are a good team! -

I hesitate to write a review about this place, because I'm afraid they would get really really popular and start raising their prices. But after some thought, I was pointed here by a fellow Yelper and feel that it's my duty to contribute. So here goes...
This place cleared my acne! Before this place, I've tried proactive, a dermatologist, and several facial salons. Nothing worked. Then, I was introduced to Face Reality. I only spent 2 months going through treatment and bought the entire line they recommended, and it worked.
It's costly, and hence, I'm not giving them a perfect 5 stars. It's $75/treatment, and sometimes those treatments last only 15 minutes. The products also cost me another $100 and they last from 3-6 months, depending on the particular item. I've been going here for a little over a year now, and other than the occasional pimple here and there, I'm clear. -

Recently, a beautiful friend of mine was complaining that her face was breaking out. It was not usual for her to complain about her skin and it reminded me of another friend who had the same problem last year. She went to Face Reality for help.
Laura at Face Reality cleared up her face! Really. It went from broken out all over to fresh and clear in just a matter of weeks. For Laura, this is her passion in life, and it shows.
When I see someone with zits on their face, I want to send them to Laura since I know she can help. But, what do I say? It is such a tough subject to discuss for many. I do not want to embarrass anyone.
Now .. I will suggest they read the reviews and learn. FACE REALITY ... they can help you. Don't suffer another day. -

When you never had any skin problem in your whole life, until recently in your adulthood. You wonder, WTH happened?! My diet? Stress level? Hormonal level?! I changed my diet and it didn't help. One day, I was stressed about it and was looking for that Korean bath house in San Leandro and stumbled upon Face Reality Acne Clinic on Yelp. I read all the awesome reviews and saw that they were running a special. I thought to myself, what the heck, I'll give it a try! The special was a lot cheaper than regular facials anyway.
Man, was I glad I gave it a try!!! Their products are also not too expensive if you think about how much you are paying for the perfume-y brand named products in the fancy malls and they are still not helping with your skin! My skin wasn't horrendously bad but definitely the worst time in my life!! Within a couple treatments and a couple of months of in-home care with their products, I am having awesome skin now!
They also offer free in between appts drop in for extraction if you really can't stand them because that's how much they don't want you to pick your own face and leave any unnecessary marks on your face!
They don't force you to buy their products. The staff are friendly and informative! If you have any skin problem, let it be your face, your chest or your back, come see Face Reality! You won't regret it (unless you don't follow their instructions and listen to them!)!! Thumbs up! -

Well, I had been meaning to come on here and write a five star review for awhile until yesterday.
First let me start off by saying that Face Reality should definitely get 5 stars for their products and treatments. I had a mild/moderate case of acne and Laura really helped clear it up. In fact, I was planning on calling them next week to set up an appointment and get a refill on products but then.......
I was checking my financial accounts and noticed that there was a charge from Face Reality-----I hadn't been to an appointment or ordered anything since around Sept. I was understandably upset but unfortunately when I spoke with Pat, from the clinic, I got the sense that it wasn't that big of a deal to them. I was told it was merely a "clerical error".
A clerical error that resulted in MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION being placed in SOMEONE ELSE'S FILE. I had NEVER authorized them to keep my credit card information in MY file, much less in anyone else's. What if I hadn't been keeping up with my accounts? How many times would I have been charged? What about the other client's credit card number? Is that in someone ELSE'S file??? In this age of identity theft etc. this IS a serious error.
I realize that human errors can happen. I think that if there hadn't been such an abrupt defensive attitude on the other line, I would have felt a little better. I think that even if a company doesn't really care about how upset a customer is---FAKE IT! Make the customer feel that you're just as upset with the error and that it's such a big deal that you will do everything you can to make sure it doesn't happen again. The attitude I sensed was "oh whoops, simple mistake, get over it". Not exactly the way to maintain company/customer relationships.
I do, however, have to say that I did get an email from Pat that same day confirming my account was credited the amount charged and there was also an apology. It would have been nicer if I had sensed more sincerity, earlier over the phone.
Anyway------5++++ stars for their products and treatments but an overall 2 stars because of my loss of trust in their company and for the response I received over the phone.
So be careful if you use a credit card with this company (or any other), always know what's going on with your bank accounts, and always expect warm sincere customer service. Well, kiddies, that's our lesson for today.
......and no, I will not be going back. -

I was always weary of getting facials and extractions due to a few bad experiences in my teens. However none of the products I was using worked. I was desperate! Luckily, I came across Face Reality. I wasn't so convinced the first time but with a little push from my husband who i think got fed up of hearing my complaints, I dutifully performed the daily regimen at home and got the extractions every two weeks.
Sure, the session seemed a bit pricey at first. Especially at times when I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. Other times I felt I got my money's worth after being there for over 1 hour. BUT they seem to know exactly what my skin needed, coz it worked. After about a month and a half, my face cleared up! And continued to improve even after decreasing the frequency of my visits to the clinic. Eventually, Laura told me to just make an appointment when I feel like I need an extraction or a facial on top of my daily regimen. That meant no more $75 session and commute, so that was awesome!
I had stopped going for about 2 years now and my face is still relatively clear. But I definitely would like to go back to try other treatments. Their products and sessions are well worth it! -

Listen to me people! I have tried EVERYTHING! Dermatologists, ProActive, Murad, the $100 creams at the expensive spas, over the counter, under the counter, homeopathic, diet change, fasting, countless facials from countless estheticians, flown around the world and back...I am telling you, Face Reality is IT! They have done their research. They go to all the conferences. There is no fluffiness involved here...they get right to it, handle the mess and voila...it's a done deal.
I have been told by several estheticians that my type of acne is the "worst and most difficult to cure". Awesome! Thank gawd it doesn't matter. I am not lying when I tell you that my sister, and several of my girlfriends all visit Face Reality on a regular basis and they all have beautiful, clear, glowing skin.
It's very simple, they check you out, put you on a custom program designed for you and you will instantly start seeing the changes. I'm not lying. I love you guys!!!!!! -

If I were to refer anyone to a Skin Care facility for acne prone, un-nourished skin- I would refer them HERE! Working together; Annie, Shelpa and Laura turned my dull bumpy complexion into a smooth shiny wonder.
I must admit, it took longer than I thought it would- but I continued to remember the words spoken to me on my first consultation "I can get you clear, I PROMISE!" Now, I had heard this promise before but it always left me with false hope. The key to my success story (and I'm sure many others) is that I stuck to the plan. I trusted what they said to me, I put my faith in them, and that promise became my reality.
I told myself I wouldn't write a review until I was 100% happy with my results and when I looked in the mirror this morning, I smiled. That time has come.

Laura and her Staff are AMAZING!
I am an Esthetician too, and I met Laura ,Several years ago, through a network of Estheticans.
I had begun specilaizing in Brazilian waxing and because I was so booked up, I was no longer able to see skincare clients, so I was thrilled when I found Laura!
And because I am located in castro Valley & She in San Leandro, it was perfect!
I have refered Many Clents to her, and they all are thrilled with the results! If You have mild break out to SEVERE Acne, she is the one to see! -

Got me clear, and I am thrilled! Only thing that bugs me is a pet peeve: they don't review my file prior to my appointment, so I often have to brief them on my treatment and status. Also, their services and products are not cheap (insurance only covers trips to the derm). That said, the products do last a while and whatever, my skin's clear so shut up, right?

This place saved me. Everything is absolutely true. They WILL clear you up--there is hope!
I have suffered from severe acne ever since I was eleven. I've been through on-again-off-again phases with my acne, not to mention every different medication out there, all types of crazy (and seemingly not so crazy) treatments, and of course easily thousands of dollars. About six months ago, it was the worst it had ever been. My skin seemed to get more and more congested, and breakout followed breakout until I was covered. Finally, it brought me to tears of frustration. Then I went online...

Face Reality SAVED my skin. I started treatments in 2008 ( I know, it's taken me this long to write a review) but ever since finding out about this clinic, I know that there is something out there that actually works!!! They are AMAZING. First off let me start by saying that Pat and Laura are amazing to work with, and they are very knowledgeable and provide excellent customer service. Everyone there makes you feel so comfortable since many of the estheticians there have also had acne before. I've referred my sister, my coworker, and anyone else who is having the same skin problems. You will not regret coming here, if anything you'll wonder why you didn't know about it sooner!

I have been dealing with the effects of acne for about 8 years now. I (like many others here) tried EVERYTHING. Over the counter, dermatologists, prescriptions and even nothing at all. None of it worked. Most of it just made it worse.
Thanks to Face Reality, my skin is finally clear.
Yes, it is expensive.
Yes, it is tedious at times.
No, it does not work overnight.
But it works.
And nothing else ever has.
What makes Face Reality different is you aren't just ordering a suite of products and following printed directions. You are given a selection of products and specific, custom instructions on exactly how to use them, then a trained professional is observing how well they work and making the necessary adjustments on a regular basis.
I started going there in April and I would say by the end of July I was completely clear and have stayed that way.
Thanks to Face Reality I feel confident about my appearance for the first time in my life. I used to turn around and go back home if I left for work without makeup on. Never again.

Face Reality is amazing! I used to have perfect skin but as soon as high school rolled around so did all of my acne. I tried everything, from laser treatments, to various creams, and even acne pills. Even though the pills did clear my skin I did not like the idea of taking medicine on a daily basis. I was fed up with bad skin, even more so with my dermatologist, who would prescribe various medicines but it seemed like he was just guessing and checking.
That is when my mom read about Face Reality in the newspaper. I did not even want to go. I felt like my efforts would be fruitless and I did not want to waste my time. After the first few visits I did not want to continue to go, I wanted instant results and it did not seem to be coming. After much begging and dragging I would comply and go to the clinic. After a few months my skin has become clear. People are now complimenting my skin and asking how I got it so clear! If you have bad skin and it seems like you have tried everything, head to Face Reality and see what happens. I bet you will be happy, maybe not right off the bat, but give it a while and your skin will be clear. :) -

Here I am 5 months into treatment and CURED!! No more acne. One sentance: I don't where foundation anymore! I have been wearing foundation since 15 to cover my imperfect skin. Now, my skin is so clear and glowing I don't need to cover it. The acid peels are amazing, the products do wonders. I love Face Reality!

I have had acne since I was 12, and even though it eventually cleared up in college, it never completely went away. I have spent hundreds of dollars on stuff that didn't work, facials, Zeno
(don't buy that), etc. My goal was to have skin clear enough not to constantly rely on makeup. I missed before I was 12 when I didn't need makeup to be "normal." I am so fortunate to have found Face Reality on Craigslist. Reading the guarantee, I was skeptical, but decided to give it shot. I am sooo happy I did. My skin cleared up tremendously within months, and now we are just working with hyper pigmentation. I can hardly believe that this time, my money is well spent.

i've been coming to face reality for about 2 1/2 years? the first year was great the products worked wonderfully, but now... maybe my skin has gotten used to the products? every week I have a new cystic acne on my chin.. i kept saying oh ill just go to face reality and hopefully they can give me something different so itll clear up like old times. that wasn't the case when ever they told me to change up my routine or when i added a new product it didn't make it worst or better. i just had to realize maybe their products just aren't working for me anymore. i am now going to a place in sf... trying to see how it works out..

Face Reality can and will help you with your acne. Their aestheticians are very knowledgeable about what can be done to help give you clear skin. I had a really bad acne breakout over a year ago. I tried several creams and cleansers to help clear my face, but nothing seemed to work. I then was informed about Face Reality and decided to give it a try. Though I found their rates to be high in the beginning, it actually isn't after you see the results...it was well worth every penny, especially since I already had spent a fortune on trying other things to help get my skin clear. You definitely have to follow their strict cleansing and treatment regimen and also stay away from certain products (shampoos, conditioners, makeup, etc.) that can clog your pores. Whatever type of skin you have, they will work with you. My skin was extremely sensitive in the beginning, so I couldn't tolerate a lot of products that could help fight my acne more effectively. So they did what they could to decrease my skin sensitivity so that I could tolerate the products. It was much different than seeing my dermatologist who didn't even test my skin sensitivity. Instead, he gave me creams that burned my skin and said it was "normal." Shilpa, one of the aestheticians at Face Reality, really worked with me a whole lot to get my skin to take in many of their products that will clear acne. I have been doing so well since last year and I am so happy that my skin is clear. I still visit Face Reality from time to time to get a facial or a small clean-up. There's no one else that I can trust with my face other than Face Reality. Thank you Shilpa and Face Reality! You guys are awesome!

DREAM COMES TRUE!!! Honestly, it was 1 of my wishes in life: to have nicer, smoother, touchable skin. And Face Reality helped making it come true. I really can't be any happier!!!
Skin is VERY VERY important to me as I'm a makeup artist who specialized in wedding. Makeup or foundation isn't the cure for bad skin. I myself truly feel bad when I have to cover up my clients' problem-skin (as my job required). I always tell my clients to take good care of their skin first, love it, it's the "foundation" for great makeup. Why spending $$ on various brands of foundation, spend it on great skincare products first. Once you have good skin, it only takes a minute or 2 for foundation/powder. A light layer of mineral liquid foundation, blush, and Burt's bee chap-stick is all I need these days.
I was recommended to Face Reality by a bride/client. I saw the difference within 3 weeks. The products worked wonder! I get many compliments about my skin lately. I came to the clinic for treatment 4 times and then continue using the products at home for the last 4-5 months. The cost seems a little high after a while, but still worth it.
Note: I was traveling oversea at beginning of this year, and if without F/R products, my skin would have gone crazy. Before I found this place, whenever I travel to Asia, because of the heat or sudden change of weather there, I would come back with my back breaking out uncontrollably... but this time it didn't. No reaction to the strange weather there, skin is still as good as it should be! Hooray!

I've been helped by other staff, but I love Anne the most. She's sweet, gentle, careful, and taking her time to really really look/examine the skin. I've been recommending F/R to whomever I thought might be interested. -

So I went in today for my facial treatment and saw the owner "LAURA". She told me that most likely the reason why Im starting to breakout again is because the products are probably use to my skin so she prescribed me a different regimen than what i normally do.
Hopefully this new regimen that im suppose to follow will work but I understand its mainly a trial and error thing when it comes to skin cuz its hard to tell what CAN and CANT work without actually trying it first.
Instead of using the acne wash, i am now using an acne scrub and instead of putting glycolic acid in the morning, I need to put Vitamin A all over my face.
Basically what she said was that wen i was first seen, the esthetician who first saw me said that i have INFLAMED acne which is one of the easier ones to treat. Since seeing Laura, she said that my skin now has NON INFLAMED acne which is one of the hardest to treat. Basically my skin is like fluctuating because i have some inflamed but more of the non inflamed.
All in all, I have a different regimen and I need to be seen EVERY 2 weeks to really help with my skin. Im crossing my fingers again.

12/27/09 -Ok. Its been almost 2 months since I last reviewed and I feel like my skin is getting to use to the products. Ive been starting to break out again all around my jawline and getting these random pimples all over my cheeks like before. It seems like the type of breakouts I get before I get my period (which I havent got yet by the way)
Ive been following the regimen day and night for the past 2 months. Maybe its because I havent went in for the facial appointments every 2 weeks like they said you are supposed to. But due to the economy, sometimes I feel like i cant afford $75 dollars every 2 weeks.
Well tomorrow Im going in again for a followup since the last month they saw me so hopefully they can figure out whats going on b/c right now, I feel really embarrassed going out without hella makeup on because of the acne thats starting to come up again.

Last week July 11, 2008- I emailed Julie my Long distance patient check in forms and photos. Julie responded back to me that I have "GRADUATED" and so I no longer need to emailed her my check-ins. But if I need anything or have any questions I can still contact or email her. They are the most caring, awesome service, thoughtful, serious ACNE Professionals EVER!!!! They well never, ever let you be on your own or let you have any concerns UNLESS you don't tell them you have concerns.
So far as of today July 18, 2008, as you can see in my before & after photo that I dare and was brave enough to post on my own "WILLING". I am now cleared of breakouts. I thought I would never be cleared. But I am a million times happy to say I DO NOT have a single breakout. My makeup applies on evenly and smoothly. My scars are 95% gone. I can't be happier than this. NO PRODUCTS CAN EVER BEAT "FACE REALITY SKINCARE PRODUCTS!" Thanks a Million Julie and the whole Face Reality Skincare staffs.

Over the years I have done a lot of research and used a lot of products to help my acne outbursts. I was impressed by Face Reality Acne Clinic because they really try to get to the root of the problem and help you understand why you might be having problems. Before I was only treating my acne, now I'm working to prevent and manage my acne.
I was really nervous that they were going to try and get me to only buy their products and make me spend a ton of money, but they didn't. Instead they looked at what I was using and told me what was ok to keep and what I shouldn't use. Also their prices were reasonable. I mean they weren't ridiculous but they were a little pricey compared to drug store acne products. I take comfort in knowing that if I breakout because of their products they will fix my face unlike drug store brands that aren't regulated and contain a lot of pore clogging ingredients.
I'm eager to see my results, so far I have noticed a dramatic improvement and I only went there once. I also love the fact that they will extract for me!! I've been to several places and no one has ever done extractions for me, which is why I tried to do it myself and I ended up with marks. =(
Do yourself a favor and go!!!! -

The first time I ever had a facial was under the face cloths of Laura Cooksey. My skin was as soft as a baby's butt for weeks after!
Laura knows skin: good and bad-she is the skin queen. She got rid of some white little bumps on my face.
The clinic is very clean. Laura and Pat brings a lot of integrity to Face Reality Skin Care (great name!) and are both personally very warm and friendly. I want to have a treatment just to hang out with them. -

Update!!! Its been almost 2 1/2 years since I first walked in Face Reality's front door. I am very happy to say that my skin remains clear. Yay!! I continue to use Face Reality's products and recommended regimen and I still go in to the office for occasional "tune-ups" (those facials have really helped to keep my skin clear and looking great!).

I found Face Reality on Yelp and at first, I was sketchy but then I began reading all the reviews and all the articles on their website. I was on the edge of taking Accutane. But then, I read about how so many individuals came to see them right before deciding to go on Accutane or after Accutane. I figured I had nothing to loose because Face Reality will not harm my body like dermatologists would. I decided to schedule an appointment and first treatment.
I started going in late January and my first appointment went really well. Julie evaluated my skin and said it was really sensitive because I was using RetinA and it really dried up my skin. She was really friendly and kind. She said my acne was pretty bad but I will clear up soon as long as I follow the program. I spent $308 on my first appointment, $225 for 3 treatments and the rest on products (Toner, Acne Med, Cranberry Cream, Sun Block, and Cleanser).
I felt the prices were reasonable since I've already spent so much on my skin. Most skin products cost a fortune already, I rather make a good investment and purchase products I know will be good for my skin. I've been breaking out on and off since I was 17 and I've taken antibiotics and use all kinds of creams. Antibiotics work temporarily and the creams burned the sh** out of skin. Other products like Shiseido and Pro-Active are completely useless on me.
All the products that Face Reality use are really gentle and I can tell my skin really likes it. During my second treatment, Laura saw the difference already and my skin was no longer as sensitive.
I had my third treatment last weekend and Julie had not seen me since my first treatment. She was amazed by how much my skin has cleared up in one month. She said it was her first time seeing someone clear up so quick.
I went from not being able to keep track of the amount of acne I had on my face to now being able to count how many pimples I have every week. I stopped breaking out instantly since I started their program. The ice really really helps keep my face cool. I used to pop my pimples but now I just ice them down nicely and they eventually go away. I really like the program I'm on. It's easy and simple. My favorite part is icing down my face, it feels very refreshing in the morning and at night.
Face Reality truly works miracles. I never thought my skin could clear up like this. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to save their skin. It's worth every penny!!!

But what you probably don't know is that I've been addicted to Mac studio fix makeup for as long as I can remember....I have to use it because I need the coverage that it provides to cover up all of the stuff trapped under my skin. Aestiticians call my beloved makeup, MACne, because it causes the stuff that gets trapped in my pores. For years I've been hearing lecture after lecture about how using my make up to cover up the stuff under my skin is perpetuating the problem; It's a vicious cycle, and one that I never thought I would be able to solve.
Then I saw a yelp review that talked about going out of the house with no makeup and I decided to give Face Reality a shot. It's been 2 months, I am almost completely clear, and I am off the thick makeup I never thought I would be able to kick.
This clinic has one goal, and that is to get you clear. That means you shouldn't go in expecting massages or relaxing facials. Also, going here is not cheap, but I wouldn't say it is terribly expensive either. A treatment at Face Reality is similar in cost to a facial at any skin treatment center or spa, and the products are pretty affordable. I'm a little confused with some of the reviews on this site stating that the products are expensive....expensive relative to what? For me, I've been using Jan Marini bioglycolic for cleanser and Peter Thomas Roth for moisturizer w/ spf 30. My face reality cleanser and sunscreen/moisturizer is cheaper than both of those products and it's bigger. And here is the catch with this place, you don't have to use their products--they give you a list of products that you can use (including drug store brands) so you aren't stuck if you don't go with their brand.

Face Reality is unlike any other skin care clinic or even dermatologist I've been to. They actually work. Their personalized skin care regimen cleared up my skin in a couple weeks, and my skin hasnt been this clear for 8 years.
I developed mild acne as soon as I hit high school. Yeah, lucky me. It was horrible, plus I was inexperienced with makeup so my attempts to cover it up made a huge mess. There really was no way to cover it up, the acne had to go away. I ended up trying every kind of acne product that you could buy at any drugstore, but nothing worked. I saw my doctor about it, then an acne clinic, then a dermatologist- all who gave me medications that did nothing but irritate my skin, making it worse.
After all the efforts and pain took its toll on me and resulted in me giving up, i saw an article in the news on Face Reality, and decided to give it a try- they just seemed different. I'm glad I did. They have a personalized system that customized my skin care regimen as well as staff that were friendly, compassionate, and (for the first time as an acne patient) knew my name!
I had dealt with the horrors of acne long enough and it was about time i found someone who could really help me and wasnt just interested in my money. After being a patient at Face Reality for just a short time, everyone I knew noticed my skin clearing up and complimented me on it, and I noticed it too. What I see now is no longer an ugly red and bumpy blotchy face. Now, I see beautiful skin- I finally see me. -

It is a bit pointless for me to review Face Reality with all these 5 star reviews, but I decided to register with Yelp because my story may help someone out.
I have had mild, but persistent, acne since I was 18 (25 now). Tried all your usually recommended treatments, over the counter products, ProActiv, and a host of dermatologist prescribed antibiotics (Tetracycline, Minocycline, and Doxycycline). Tried every possible thing short of getting Accutane (will come back to this in a second.)
Desperate for a solution, I stumbled upon Face Reality Skin Care about a year and half ago on Yelp. Even back then, they had a ton of positive reviews. I had a strong feeling this was going to be the solution I was looking for. Immediately I booked an appointment.
Had my first session with Laura and she gave me the whole run down. Described my acne issues in detail and that I should be clear after about 6 treatments. I was excited.
Religiously I followed their instructions and ate up every word their staff talked about. Back then it was Kim and Shilpa that completed my treatments. (I think I have the right names.) After about the 2nd treatment, I started to notice a slight improvement. I was even more excited with the feeling that I was about to be clear.
Unfortunately, I never got there. After about 7 treatments, my acne got worse. Laura at that point was unsure of what to do and recommended that I go to a dermatologist and get antibiotics. She didn't know that I tried all that already. So after those 7 treatments and about 4-5 months in, I gave up. I just couldn't afford it anymore.
With those 7 treatments + products, my total bill was right under $1000. As a college student, I was flat broke and couldn't pay anymore for no results.
While their staff is incredibly nice and supportive, I have to give 2 stars based on results. They said clear skin, but it was never delivered.
That's the end of my FRSC review, but a quick note about what did clear me: Accutane. I had huge fears about taking this drug, especially after hearing all the horror stories. I tried nearly everything possible before I caved in and tried Accutane.
Best decision of my life.
I went to a derm highly recommended on Yelp and this time my prayers were answered. Because I had mild, but persistent, acne, my doctor put me a low-dosage course of just 10mg a day. For a 170 lb male, 10mg is almost nothing. But it did the trick for me. 100% clear. No more worries about finding the right cleanser, moisturizer, all those products that I worried about when I had acne. Now I can just wash my face with water and skin looks great. On top of that, Accutane was cheap. Insurance pretty much covered everything.
I would strongly recommend to anyone to try Accutane. Low dose only! The high-dosage (80mg or higher) is where all the horror stories come from.

i saving one star until i see how the products work long term...i went in for my first appointment yesterday and had a great experience. i worked with Patti, who was very friendly, very knowledgeable and very honest. i have had many problems with acne in the past, essentially trying everything from proactiv to accutane. my skin has been relatively clear the last few years but i wanted a new evaluation, plus a new regimen to keep it clear.
Patti explained to me the causes of acne (thanks mom and dad!) and what foods to avoid if i was having problems as well as specific ingredients to avoid in anything i put on my skin. the products are pricy, but will hopefully last a long time, and they had a very clear system in place. i look forward to seeing improvements in my complexion! -

I remember looking at the before and after pictures she had of her patients and asking her apprehensively and cynically, "So you think you can do that to MY skin?" After being let down so many times, you kind of build a wall of mistrust to protect you from the next heartache. Let's just say that I hated my skin. Since I was 12 I struggled with acne. At 28, I still had. HAD, HAD, HAD acne. I can't emphasize HAD enough. Dermatologist after dermatologist. Expensive spa treatment, treatments in Europe, antibiotics, home remedies. I was a dumpster diver of cosmetic products/treatments hailing to clear up acne.
She started me on the what I felt was a long and complicated regimen. After the first couple of days, it wasn't so long and complicated. It was easy. Seriously, within one week I could see a difference. I remember telling my Mom, LOOK! LOOK! My friends started to notice too. I cleared up within 2 months...NO JOKE. I recommended her to my friend and she is clearing up too. We had different kinds of acne and she cleared us both up.
The products are amazing. I swear by them.

I stumbled upon their site while searching "acne clinic" on Yelp, which linked me to their actual website. At first, I was skeptical, but the thing that made me e-mail them was the fact that they SPECIALIZE in acne - not just a spa with acne services along with botox, laser, and so on. This place has their own line of reasonably priced products - THAT WORK!
Three weeks ago, I went in for a consultation and they diagnosed me with non-inflamed acne. I just had my second chemical peel and my skin has been improving from day 1. I am so impressed that I have referred a couple of my friends already. Seriously people, if you have problem skin - do yourself a favor and check them out!
$25 consultation. $75 treatments. You can't beat these prices! They have the cure! -

Put me down as one more person whose skin problems were cleared up by Face Reality Skin Care. Same story as everyone else ... Initially: suspicious and skeptical. Then: started seeing results. Now: true believer.
I have complete strangers come up to me and compliment me on my radiant skin. Anyone who suffers from acne knows what an immense compliment that is!
