    A fantastic holiday dinner....
F+R gets high marks for several reasons:
    1. an abundance of locally-sourced ingredients (farm-to-table)
    2. crisp, friendly, timely service
    3. great central location and easy parking
    4. warm, romantic ambiance
    5. good prices for food of this quality

We had a full four courses....split the Metzger Platte appetizer....which was a total homerun....excellent creamy chicken liver pate, fantastic Wagyu tartare and divine smoked duck breast with ground mustard seed and tangy little gherkins....
We both had salads next; golden beet salad which was the weakest item of the entire meal except for the incredible pistachio crusted goat cheese and a tasty arugula salad....
Entrees were Richardson Farms rib-eye with truffle fries and a special- Hill Country-sourced Ein, Zwei, Drei-- wild boar bratwurst, rabbit rillete and grilled quail with Manchego grits and sauteed chantrelles...the rib-eye was tasty, tender and cooked to order, and we ate the fries; something we never usually eat, just because they were sooo good....the sausage was very good, the rabbit was a little chewy for my liking and the quail (which I normally don't like) were delicious....however, I could have eaten a whole plate of the mushrooms-- they were fantastic........
Finished up by sharing the Belgian chocolate mousse.....which was very good, especially since it was not very sweet....
All in all, a wonderful evening....and we'll be back soon...

Food has always been yummy and the decor and atmosphere are really cute!

I've been several times and all the dishes I tried had great flavors that weren't too heavy.  The only item that I didn't like was the Scnitzel...really just reminded me of a chicken fried steak?

Service has also always above average and able to accommadate larger groups.  Though, I would probably suggest this place more for a date night.  They do have a back room though, that is good for larger parties.

There's parking on the street and they have a small lot across the street.

I was really looking forward to Fabi + Rosi.  The farm to market concept, the word of mouth, no available reservations, plus the trendy area.  It had all the right elements.  We called last minute and were unable to get reservation but the hostess was very helpful.  She offered to place on the wait list in advance and seated us immediately upon walking in.
The decor and atmosphere were typical of this area to me, very trendy/hipster.  Luckily for me I remembered to wear my skinny jeans.  None the less the inside and outside of this new restaurant were both inviting.
We brought our own bottle of wine which was nice for a change as not many restaurants in town allow this anymore.  There is a 15$ corkage fee which was worth it after reviewing the somewhat disappointing and overpriced wine list.  The menu itself was small and seasonal as anticipated.  Stared with escargot and Prince Edward Mussels both were tasty and fresh.  I preferred the mussels which were some of the best I have ever eaten.  The escargot had to much breading for both our tastes.  For entrees, the braised lamb and rib eye special.  The rib eye steak was wonderful with some of the best fries I have ever had.  The braised lamb while delicious was a dry for a braised meat.  Outside of the dry lamb entrees were enjoyed.  We opted to take home the chocolate mouse which was a divine mouthful but not much more than one mouthful.  I was hoping for a dessert a bit larger.
All over this was a enjoyable and tasty dining adventure.  We will return.

Some countries just don't get vegetarians. Once, when I was in Mexico, I was served a dish with bacon -- my very nice waiter thought it was vegetarian because it had vegetables. (I can understand his logic.) Germany is one of these countries. I will visit one day. I will take a lot of energy bars.

So it's great that Fabi + Rosi, a European kitchen with a German chef, had two vegetarian entrees on the night I visited. Neither of them had protein, but at least vegetarians won't have to eat sides here.

Everything I had (arugula salad, curried cauliflower soup, mushroom strudel) was delicious. And the chevre tart is divine, it's clearly their signature dessert.

If you're looking for a niiiiice restaurant that is DEDICATED to serving local food, this is where it's at. Almost EVERY aspect of this menu is local, which I love. That means it's always changing, with the seasons and it just so happens, we love to eat this way. The food was prepared beautifully and delicious. The wine was great. Sitting on the front patio on a starry night was perfect. Service was GREAT. I believe my server's name was Annie, she was SUPERB! and very prompt! Truffle fries are a must and the goat cheese tart for dessert and also MUST. If you are a LOCALVORE, GO HERE NOW!!!! OR SOON AND OFTEN!

A huge THANK YOU to Fabi and Rosi for a wonderful fund raiser for our MS fundraiser. This is the third year of Fabi and Rosi supporting this cause and us as bike riders for Multiple Sclerosis research . We had fantastic food.  Wolfgang's Pate, Devil's on Horseback, wonderful cheeses, goat cheese, tomato and zuchini and more and the wines were very kindly donated. Cassie had everything perfectly done and  It couldn't have been nicer.  Fabulous food and wine and very gracious support by Cassie and Wolfgang for this charity.  If you haven't been to this wonderful restaurant, go.  You won't be disappointed.

My best friend was in need of a good birthday dinner, so after reading about Fabi+Rosi I decided it to take a chance on it.

Upon walking into the restaurant, you are welcomed by its tastefully cute decor  and relaxed atmosphere.

We started our meal with a bottle of Pinot Noir and order of escargot. Their wine menu is simple, yet diverse and should cater to just about anyone's needs.

I have never been a big fan of escargot, but my friends raved and said it was one of the best they have had, and they were right, it was perfectly cook and butter-battered perfection. We ended up ordering a second plate is it was just that good.

For dinner I had the Strube Ranch Wagyu with truffle fries and green peppercorn, which was delicious, the meat was fork tender and paired with our wine quite well. My friend Michael had the Duck Confit, it was amazing, easily the best dish at the table, and a VERY generous portion size. Other dishes ordered included the Rockfish (yum!) and Countryside Farm Poussin.

My only opportunity for them was the dessert menu, it was not bad, but just didn't have anything that sounded "must-have" to top off the meal.

After it was all said and done, dinner for 4, including 2 bottles of wine, 2 appetizers and 4 entrees came out to around $150, yes, it was very, VERY well priced!

Overall, I give it 2 thumbs up. Fabi+Rosi is great value (I have paid twice as much for food half as good.) and a beautiful atmosphere for any occassion.

A friend and I stumbled upon fabi+rosi very soon after it opened, for Restaurant Week a couple years ago.  Since then, we have been back SEVERAL times.  We've rented out the entire space for a party, had many smaller parties in the back, and been too many times to count for Birthdays and Special Occassions.  In all of these instances, the team at f+r has always been amazingly wonderful!

I cannot say enough great things about Wolfgang and his servers, but will say that I have tasted so many different things from their seasonal menus and have never once been disappointed.  Especially for the price, this food is consistently palate-pleasing.  We went in last night for my little Brother's 21st birthday, brought along a 2 year old, and still managed to have great service and AMAZING food!!  The Birthday Boy had the steak and frites, he's a huge steak man, and he loved it.  I tried the Duck Confit for the first time (ever and on f+r's menu), and it melted in my mouth.  The desserts are always perfect, but the Crack Pie that is currently on the menu is beyond delicious.  Imagine a pecan pie, without the pecans, cooked to almost the consistency of a blonde brownie....YUMM!!

The atmosphere is delightful, and I always leave with a full belly and a smile on my face :)

We went to Fabi + Rossi for my birthday last week and it was the best dinner I've had in a long time. We tried the duck confit and steak and fries, which were both perfectly seasoned and delicious. I highly recommend both these dishes.

The restaurant is located in a beautiful house converted to a restaurant. The inside is very elegant, cozy, and a great place for a date or even a big group dinner. Outdoor seating is also available.

Service was alright, but nothing special; The waitress forgot to tell us the specials and we sat around for 15 minutes before she came by to take our drink order.

Enjoyed our birthday outing there last night. Great atmosphere, friendly staff. We started at a table outside, but as a cold front moved in, staff invited us in.

We started with a cheese and pate plate, golden beats with honey and a salad. Between the four of us we split two bottles of good, reasonably priced wine.

Dinner: a delicious corn soup, an acorn squash and panzanella dish, bouillabaisse, and game chicken and mashed potatoes plate. Everything was great - except the chicken (I should have gotten the ribs). We finished it all with a crack pie for dessert. **It was outstanding.**

Nice restaurant in a nice part of town, near the lake and far from traffic.

Looking forward to going back soon.

We had a big family dinner reservation at Abels on the lake that went badly awry and were left with 15 people and no place to go. I remembered the cute little house on Hearn street just down the road and made a call, and they quickly accommodated a group of 15 at 8:30 on a Saturday night.  That is service!

They set us up a big table outside under the outdoor chandelier and it could not have been more perfect. We had all just attended a memorial service and it was one of those nights where you knew you might not see some of these people again. It could not have been more perfect. Wolfgang the chef came out to greet us. He was amazingly gracious and attentive. Rodney our waiter was a real pro, something you don't see enough in Austin.

The salads were beautiful and you could smell the freshness of the arugula. The mussels had a fantastic flavor. The steak was perfectly cooked. And the service was impeccable. (my only complaint was that the truffle ravioli was a tad bland and needed some salt).

But overall it was one of the most pleasant restaurant experiences I've had in a long time. The inside looks very charming too. I will definitely be back.

I came here for Austin Restaurant Week.  While good the seasoning was just overall a little off on all of the dishes of the night so I was left wanting more.  The dishes were good enough that I feel like there is a lot of potential if they were executed correctly though, so it is worth a second chance.  Maybe the chef was just hungover that day.

    Appetizers:

Escargot with garlic butter, and parsley aioli.  This was pretty awesome, it was served with nice bread and there was a strong garlic component to both the butter and the aioli.

Spiced Carrot Soup - This was OK, a pretty standard texture for this type of pureed dish.

Vegetable Terrine - This was an interesting layered dish with red pepper, chevre, tomato, and zuccini.  It was not bad but not worth ordering again.

Loncitos Lamb Liver with Apple Puree and Shallots - This had a super strong mineral taste.  If I am going to eat offal I need that taste to be mostly covered up and it was not in this at all.  The best dishes pull it off though so I would also pass on this.

    Entrees:

Summer Truffle Ravioli with micro greens - There wasn't enough truffle here to taste it in every bite.  Also the portion size was pretty small, although all of the ARW entrees were on the small side here.

Steelhead Trout - It is cool that they use local JBG organic vegetables for this dish.  But I think it would have been better to have a pepper puree to go along with the whole peppers and potatoes.

Short Ribs Sauerbraten - The meat itself was probably the most flavorful of the entrees.  The spatzle and red cabbage were just ok.

    Desserts:
Belgian Chocolate Mouse with Vadouvan Chocolate Bar - The forgettable mouse was easily eclipsed by the chocolate bar which was pretty awesome dark chocolate.

Crack Pie with Hooch Cream - The best dish of the night (besides the escargot).  The crack pie is probably best described as an underbaked oatmeal cookie.  It is half cookie half brownie but it has an oat texture with a chewy center.  A really impressive dessert that was made even better by the strong alcohol taste of the hooch cream.

Overall I would go back to give them another chance but the ARW outing was a bit disappointing.

Came for Restaurant Week - Round 2... had heard of the place and driven past it, but never tried it, so I figured trying it during ARW would be a good sampling.

Service was great; our wait was not terribly long and our waitress was attentive at just the right amount - not too much & overbearing, but not disengaged where we could never find her.  The atmosphere was nice too even though we sat outside just under the outdoor chandelier.   I really enjoyed the music for some reason, and I didn't get to see much of the inside nor the restrooms (some people care about that stuff).
The free bread is really yummy, and the "butter" - not sure what it was, but it was pretty tasty.

    My sampling:
App - Lamb Liver.  If you like lamb, and you like liver - you'll love this.  I'm a yes on both accounts.  Heavy in the lamb flavor, but not as "soft" on the liver as I was expecting.
Entree - Trout.  I liked the crispy skin on my trout, and the grilled veggies (peppers and onions) were decent.  No complaints on the flavor.
Dessert - Crack Pie.  I know why they call it "crack" pie... one bite and you're addicted.  And the dollop of cream was liquored up!  It was very heavy, but luckily I shared it and still had some left over to take home!

    My "date's" sampling:
App: Cheese and Veggies.  She likes cheese, so she was a fan.  It wasn't a stinky or hard cheese either.
Entree - Short Ribs.  Basically like pot roast.  Yum yum...flavorful and soft, but the cabbage and spatzle it was sitting on was bland.
Dessert - Chocolate Mousse.  Very rich, wish I had milk to go with it... she ended up eating more of my crack pie than her mousse... why does that sound funny to me?

I'd go back just to try their regular menu.

Nom nom nom.... That's all you hear when we get our food.  So good, so authentic.  BYOB.  Great staff.  Chef, well if you get to meet him, you'll appreciate the food that much more.

Friends have loved it, picky family has appreciated it fully and we have only been disappointed when they closed recently so head chef could go over seas to see his family.

    We'll be back very soon!

But seriously for some recommendations:  Veal when they have it: AWESOME.  Don't think about what you're eating and it'll be ok. The usual Spatzel and... shoot can't remember the other item on the plate, but it's a usual menu item and great for anyone 'scared' of the more adventurous selections, but still really good.  Then the Lemon Chevre Tarte OMG!!! NO REALLY!!!  I never type 'OMG' but it really, REALLY is that good.  With sugared lemon zest on top, everyone seems to just find this desert divine.

GO, YOU'RE SOUL WILL THANK YOU!

We decided to try something new for our anniversary (my mom says it's not an anniversary if you aren't married, but whatever, she's wrong) and I decided to give this place a shot due to the awesome Yelp reviews.

We ate like little carnivorous fat kids, so I can say something about a lot of items on the menu.  My fiance went nuts over the mussels appetizer and ate almost all of them (I think I got 2), and then followed that up by trying to discreetly sop up the sauce with his bread.  I stuck mostly with the Metzger Platte, which had a chicken pate (average, and more pate than I wanted), a steak tartare with cornichons (awesome), and a duck breast with Fireman's 4 mustard (extra awesome, and I don't even like mustard).

For our entrees, he had the Rockfish with tomato ragout and I had the Lamb t-bone.  Both dishes had a lot of flavor without being overpowering, and we made appropriate I-watch-Top-Chef comments about nice balance and seasoning.  I think my fiance wanted a more substantial 'potato nest' than there was, but otherwise the portions were a good medium size.  My lamb was, by the way, freaking delicious.  It came with cheese grits and mushrooms, and was possibly the best thing I have put in my mouth in quite a while.

We weren't planning on having dessert, but hey! Why not?  We tried both the grilled peaches and black pepper ice cream AND the chevre tart (see above comment re: fat kids).  I thought black pepper ice cream sounded absolutely disgusting, but it turns out it's pretty delicious.  The tart was a really nice surprise- it was like a cheesecake and a creme brulee had a delicious cheesy baby.

The atmosphere was nice- it was very cute and decorated in a minimal but classy way.  The chairs, I gotta say, hurt my butt.  They were a little bit small and ikea-riffic, and after sitting there for 2 hours I was REALLY glad to stand up.  The water glasses were also comically small, but they give you a nice large bottle of chilled water on your table, so it's not a problem so much as a curiosity.  Our waitstaff was a little clumsy (the pate ball rolled off the board and had to be replaced, the centerpiece was knocked over a couple times, forks were dropped), but that sort of thing doesn't bother me because we all have days like that, and honestly, my whole life has been like that.  I find it sort of endearing.

Came by Fabi + Rosi a couple weeks ago for the first time.

I can't say enough good things. We loved everything about our experience. The atmosphere was fantastic, service was great (my gf accidentally knocked over her almost empty glass of champagne and they brought here a full glass even tho we had bought a bottle and still had 3/4 of it left, not to mention the bubbly was half priced since it was Thursday), the food was delectable (we had the schnitzel which I'm a huge fan of, and the duck which was delicious) and, perhaps best of all, it was extremely affordable especially for the quality and atmosphere (the half priced champagne helped).

We will most definitely be back again soon.

My boyfriend and I met a friend for dinner here, as we had heard good things and wanted to try it out.  It was quite tasty!  The service was good, the wine selection quality, and the prices were acceptable.

I had the linguini volgna (clams).  There were only six clams, which at first I thought was too few, but as I ate the dish, I discovered the balance was perfect.  The lamb our friend had was exquisitely rare and perfectly seasoned, and my boyfriend's steak and frites were quite tasty as well.

He didn't like the blue cheese breaded potatoes (he found the blue cheese overwhelming), but loved everything else, as did my friend and I.

    Good show, Fabi + Rossi!

I genuinely like this restaurant.  The food is fresh.  The menu changes semi-regularly.  The Italian/German theme of the dishes is a nice new thing.
The wine list is creative.  Someone puts some time and energy into it.

I went here for restaurant week last year and the food didn't blow me away..after looking at other reviews, maybe I should consider different items.  I don't see much of what I ate on the current menu.

    Drinks:
-Weihenstephaner hefeweizen was only okay, but only 4 dollars so fine by me

    Appetizers:
-I had an octopus salad, which doesn't seem to be on the menu now...which is good because it was completely forgettable

    Main:
-Steak and frites is a difficult dish to mess up.  The portion was okay, but eating it felt monotonous.  I wasn't too eager to finish the meal but was hungry, so I did

    Dessert:
-Chocolate mousse was not as tasty as the vadouvan chocolate piece accompanying it

I really adored this place. The food was beautiful and the atmosphere comfortable. They promote their local farmers, and rightfully so. Can you ask for much more?

While sitting their I thought, "There needs to be more European style restaraunts focusing more on the food versus capitulating to idiot American palattes who are more concerned about getting their diet soda instead of a well looked after meal."

The food was absolutely amazing here and the setting was delightfully non-pretentious.  Although ridiculously simple (that's the beauty of it!) the mussels were our favorite part of an altogether amazing meal.   They were so fresh I spent a good part of dinner wondering where they could have gotten them.  I could have sworn we were on the coast!  Dinner overall was great and the portions were really generous.  The sprouts were really excellent as well.  At Fabi + Rosi they take simple, local ingredients and transform them into something wonderful.  It leaves you wondering why you can't do the same in your own kitchen.

One caveat--we sat outside and the mosquitos were unbearable.  I literally had 50 bites by the time we left and was miserable the next day.  I'm rarely bothered by them but there were just so many that we opted to forgo dessert because of the visible swarms of them.  I know we're all about being natural but get some sort of spray or candles for that...no one should have to wear bug spray to dinner and if you have an outdoor shaded seating area (and you're in Austin) people will flock there.

I came here with my boyfriend a few days ago since we wanted to have a nice dinner. It was on a Tuesday night and the place was almost half full. I had heard great things about this place before and many friends recommended it to me, so my expectations were pretty high. I was not disappointed (for the most part!)

We started off with appetizers. I read on Yelp about how good the p.e.i. mussels were, so we obviously had to get those. They were steamed in a buttery herb sauce and tasted really fresh. We also got the metzger platter which consisted of chicken pate (liver) with some sort of wine-like gelatin underneath, wagyu beef tartare, and smoked duck breast with whole-grain mustard. I LOVED the beef tartare; it goes very well with the bread/butter they give you.

For entrees, we decided to get the scallops and duck confit. I'm going to be honest, I expected a lot more out of the scallops. I guess they change their menu once in awhile since my friend mentioned her scallops came with bacon wrapped dates. The one we ordered was in a tomato sauce with corn/onions/carrots/bell peppers. It was okay, but not anything amazing (which I expected from Fabi + Rosi). However, the duck confit was perfect. It was just the right about of crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The meat came off the bone so easily so there was no sawing action going on. I really liked that...easy to eat and tasty!

Finally for dessert, we got the belgian chocolate mousse. It was very rich. They also had grilled peaches on the menu so I might try that next time!

As for the ambiance, it was sooo adorable. If you ask my boyfriend, every other sentence that came out of my mouth during dinner was "this place is so cute!" They had very neutral/pastel colors with cute decor, like these glass globes with candles and other random things inside that hung from the ceiling.

Another slam dunk at Fabi & Rosi, an upscale German/European restaurant across from Deep Eddie off of West 6th st.  This time, I went for a bone-in lamb T-bone with some of the best grits I have ever tried (mixed with melted manchego cheese).  The lamb was cooked a perfect medium as I had requested.  We shared the mussels and escargot, a tremendous lemon verbena ravioli, and the signature Snitzel dish (excellent, though the spatzle was undersalted).  The duck confit and scallops also came highly recommended.

Shared a bottle of champagne and closed things out with espresso and belgian chocolate mousse, one of the best I've had.  Altogether a nearly perfect experience and definitely deserving of 5 stars.

For the vegetarians out there, there were a few items including a roasted vegetable dish with pine-nut emulsion that peaked my interest.

I've dined here twice and both times the food was fabulous with different menus each time.

We had: the beet salad, mussels, & beef tartare for starters and the duck dish first time around. All very good, except the beet salad was lacking. It was a party of 10 and we received great service!

Second time around, we came in this week and they had a summer menu.We tried the metzger platte (very good) & mussels to start. For entrees we had the scallops, rockfish (delish), and duck confit. Service was lame, our waiter was very smug and short with us. Borderline annoying. Perk up guy, you chose this job.

Love this chic little restaurant. Dim lighting & a great meal.

Boyfriend and I both had the Schnitzel & Spaetzle. They were fantastic, though the portions moderate. The "Crack Pie" is amazing as well, but I absolutely hate the name. Not only is it tacky/hokey, it's innaccurate, it's not even a pie, more like a chewy dessert bar. I would say this is NOT a $$ place, definitely $$$+ depending on if you are drinking. They did have my favorite beer though, Weihenstephaner white beer, so I had to splurge. It paired very well with the schnitzel.

Located in a pretty little house just west of Mopac, Fabi + Rosi is the perfect place to have a romantic date or a dinner with friends. The whole converted house trend is pretty big right now, and Fabi + Rosi did it right. Their restaurant week menu was pretty strong, and I had the Lammieber Berlinner Art (lamb liver with carmelized apple puree and crispy shallots), the truffle ravioli (which I mistakenly read as "risotto"), and the crack cake. My boyfriend got the cherve and grilled vegetable terrine, the steelhead trout, and the Belgian chocolate mousse.

I really enjoyed the liver. I thought it had a lot of flavor, but it wasn't as rich as pate. The truffle ravioli was a bit like eating cream of mushroom with dumplings, and the crack cake was basically pecan pie in cake form with whiskey infused cream. The dessert was a bit rich for me, but I'm not a sweets person. You'd probably like it if you had a sweet tooth. I took some nibbles of my boyfriend's food, and I really liked the cherve  + grilled veggie terrine. It was fantastic paired with the rye toast that came with it. The steelhead trout tasted very fresh, and the chocolate mouse was a very well balanced dessert. It wasn't too sweet because it was made with dark chocolate. My friend and her girlfriend ordered pretty much the same things as we did, and they were both very impressed with the freshness and flavor that the talented chef at Fabi + Rosi brought out in each of the dishes. Speaking of, he came out and asked us how our food was. I've never had that experience before, and it made my night.

All in all, we had a great time, with great food and great service.

Only one word for everything: Wow.

Service - fantastic, was very well taken care off and uplifted the whole experience
Food - delicate, sumptuous, downright tasty and hit the spot
Owner - nicest guy around. He spoke with us and said it is very challenging to make a schnitzel for an Austrian ;) but he had nailed it and the Austrian was happy
Dessert - they served us the most amazing selection of everything in the house.. the taste still lingers on the tips of my tongue

I absolutely LOVE Fabi + Rosi. Love. The food has been consistently great every time we've been. The atmosphere is an inviting sort of casual elegance and modernity. Our servers have been knowledgeable, very attentive, accommodating to people's food sensitivities, all while being friendly and relaxed. The perfect place for those who love great food and fine dining without the stuffy atmosphere.

Can we talk about the food for a minute? It's gooooood. Flawlessly executed classics like schnitzel and spaetzle are right at home next to things like baby octopus salad on this continental European menu that honors tradition while exploring new interpretations and flavor profiles. Sometimes, they do a prix fixe menu, which is a great bargain and often features seasonal specialties. I like that the ingredients are gotten ethically/organically/locally as much as possible.

What a charming renovated house! I am a sucker for low-key, beautifully-decorated spaces, and the plus---generous, well-prepared, food at very reasonable prices.

We went on Monday for ARW. We ordered from the pre-fixe (rather generous size portions) and off the regular menu. Rather than dwell of each individual dish, I would like to summarize the food experience by saying ----fabelhaft! The food is simple, familiar, and cooked to perfection.

The restaurant is dimly light, bustling, yet romantic. I LOVE the decor---classic......simple......beautiful. The service was prompt and our server indulged our wine snobbery (reviews of the 3 bottles from Oakville will have to be saved for another time and place).

OK, so for such a nice place, I was expected to spend a whole lot more. The best part is that they allow us to bring our own bottles (with small corkage fee of course). Three bottles of great wines from Oakville, the ambience, and the food well-elevateds this place to fine dining status without the large price tag.

We conversed and dined for a leisurely 3 1/2 hrs.

I am so in love with this cozy little restaurant.  The menu is diverse, the service is attentive yet unobtrusive, and the decor is casually elegant.  The prices (main dishes range from $12 to $22) are seriously reasonable for this level of cuisine.   Plus they win major Austinite points with their locally sourced, all-natural and organic ingredients, as well as the chicken coop, veggie & herb garden out back.

We had the wonderful luck of going there on a Thursday where our server informed us it was half-off all bubbles all night. Champagne Thursday makes me swoon.

Usually, I'm not big on bread baskets, but Fabi + Rosi's was perfection - sliced baguette with a chewy crust and super soft interior served with an to-die-for garlic butter sauce.  We started with the cheese plate which was great, but, really, how can you mess up a cheese plate?  Then we ordered the roasted chicken and duck confit for our main dishes.  No complaints from either of us - generous portions, yummy sides, all perfectly cooked.  The Belgian chocolate mousse for dessert was rich yet light - just how mousse should be.

I will definitely be returning and look forward to trying more of their delicious dishes!

We went here for our anniversary. It was lovely. The atmosphere very romantic. I had the mussels and the lemon ravioli. Both delicious. He had the chicken, of which I had a bite, also yum. We even decided to take a few cues from the decor in there and incorporate it into our bedroom. Our waitress was great. And the French press coffee after, along with the mousse for dessert, was truly a wonderful ending.

Definite plus: reservations online. Gotta LOVE that.

    I give fabi+rosi SEVEN STARS!

the first five are yelp stars to represent the following:

    1: simple yet elegant interior

2: food that is both well balanced, delicious and priced reasonably

3: service that is always there without being in the way.  the staff are always able to express great knowledge of the food preparation and ingredients.

4: dessert that had more flavor than sugar.  I am sick to death of pre-fixe meals that finish with a glob of sweet that was easy to prepare.  the strawberry-rhubarb compote with basil ice cream is a great way to finish a great meal and not keep me awake at all hours of the night after enjoying it

5: the fifth yelp star is for their wine service with corkage.  they offer reasonably priced wine here (many good options around 40, some under).  but we prefer to bring our own and fabi+rosi has this figured out.  we brought three bottles of our own juice, trying to get a handle on that oh so special terrior of one small region in napa valley; oakville.  (I recently inquired about corkage at hundson's on the bend and they thought I was crazy "NO, you can't bring your own wine!"  and then we got crappy wine service there)

stars six and seven!  these are my stars I doll out as I see fit, I carved them myself out of ephemeral unicorn hooves!  HEY!  I captured and slew that unicorn myself and I'll do what I please with the hoove stars.

1: for location.  it may not be close to you, but it took us FOUR MINUTES to get to fabi+rosi from austinmodhouse, door to door in under five minutes.  than you fabi+rosi for location+location+location

2: patience; we claimed that table for three and a half hours!  never once did they make us feel rushed, even when I got loud and started talking about my.... ah never mind.  we completely lost track of time (three bottles of good juice will do that) and they put up with us with great hospitality.

hint to all you unicorn hunters: they are often drawn out of the darkness by rough leprechaun sex noises.  so first catch a leprechaun and then....

So I'b writing this long after I actually ate here because I started the review on the yelp app and didnt get around to finishing it until now. So this is a bit from memory.

I started with a baby octopus starter. Very good. I had the Duck 2 ways as an entree and it was very good as well. The desert was a cheese plate with valdeon blue (see here http://www.artisanalch...) which was nice.  And given that this the place was suppose to have a Germanic bent, I had to steal some spetzle off my friend's plate.  It was perfectly made.

It is a nice, quiet, romantic but not over the top place. Good for a date but also for a nice business dinner.  They handled our party of approx 8 very comfortably.

Overall, the ambiance was fantastic. Very romantic. Service was solid. The food was a bit of a disappointment for the price tag. They were out of the beet salad, but agreed to combine the pistachio-encrusted goat cheese from that salad on a bed of arugula. The cheese was amazing. I was a bit disappointed by the cheese plate. They had a new menu, so I think they might be working through their recipes still. I wouldn't recommend going with the bouillabaise -- it was bland, watery and relied on dollop of garlic butter to carry the dish. I did enjoy the fennel root in the broth, but the shellfish was unremarkable.

They came back to win one for the team with the dessert. We ate the chocolate mousse (to die for) and the crack cake with hooch cream (what?). They were both mind-numbingly delicious.

I will probably go back to try some of the other items, and I'm dying to get the beet salad i missed this time around.

Holy @#$%!!! so0o0o delish-- with classy decor, phenomenal cuisine, lovely wine and amazing company, the only thing, that i feel this place is lacking in, is great service.  It was good service, yes, but not great..it just means I HAVE to go back, get a different server and then i will up this rating to 5 stars!!!! i had the château pey la tour bordeaux supérieur, wine, umm, yum, started the meal with the tastiest of salads, Red A'S Beet Carpaccio with a buttermilk mousse that was something out of this world, I still have dreams about it and for the entree'..Seared Day Boat Scallops with Devils On Horseback in a Parsnip Puree..uhhh, what?!?! my mom and i didn't really have much conversation during this eating marathon, the only words used were "oh my gawd", "ooh", "ahh" and some other sound affects that i can't mention.

I would go back to this quant hidden Austin treasure in a heart beat, but  i think next time,  I will sit on the front patio because it is pretty loud inside and save room for desert...Duh!?!?

you get the stars for being local and a great date night place.  food was ok. would have liked something other than french fries with my steak. seemed kind of silly for $20+. dessert wasn't worth it. we should have had the cheese plate for dessert rather than as an appetizer.
