The boyfriend needed new glasses and we live next door, so this was the obvious choice.

Great big name brands are available, but the real reason to go is to see the whole Norman Child's collection.  They are modern and well made.

The sales people were moderately helpful and did not try to push anything on us.  Admittedly, we were on a mission and had a good idea of what we were looking for.

None of the frames are cheap, but the service is on the same level as the styles they sell.

This place is a scam.  My first bad experience came when I purchased a $40 coupon for $80 worth of sunglasses.  I went in and found that all of their sunglasses were priced $40 more than the manufacturer's prices.

In the end, I didn't end up paying any more than I would have paid online, Eyetique just figured out how to funnel my money to them instead of the manufacturer.

Before that happened I had already purchased another coupon, this one was $80 for $200 worth of eyeglasses.  When I went in to use it, I wasn't surprised at the $345 price for designer frames.

What was absurd was the almost $700 price for lenses!  I need high-index lenses, which are usually more expensive than regular lenses, but not that expensive.

When I played dumb about the price of lenses, the salesperson lied to me and said that high-index lenses were always that expensive.  I eventually found out I could get "less thin" high-index lenses for $375.  Either way, I'm pretty sure $720 for a pair of eyeglasses could cover half the price of LASIK.  I walked out and ate the $80.

This place uses it's reputation as a boutique store and it's location in Pittsburgh shopping districts to fool people with extra money to burn into paying their outrageous prices.  Gaming deal-of-the-day websites is bad enough, but trying to charge people $700 for lenses is almost criminal.

I stopped by here to find a pair of glasses for Bob, the boyfriend that keeps popping up in my Yelp reviews.  Every pair of glasses was so expensive it nearly gave me heart palpitations, but it was OK.  We planned to get an idea of how much their glasses were, and what frame types Bob looks best in.  Then, armed with information, we hit the internet.

Do yourself a favor and check out http://Zennioptical.com.  No, I'm not affiliated.  I just think that if you can buy four pairs of glasses online for the price you'd spend at Eyetique, that seems like the saner way to go.  I buy my near-sighted glasses there for 12 dollars including shipping.  Bob got his much more complicated prescription for 50, which is one tenth of what Eyetique quoted him.

Don't get ripped off by these guys!

One star: half a star for how cute & conveniently located the space is, half a star for the doctor, who was actually helpful. Also, you can't give ZERO STARS!

The staff seemed nice, at first. Then the super high-pressure sales technique and guilt trips were rolled out. Then I was told that there is just no way frames that cost under $500 can possibly be as cute as the ones priced over that. Sorry, but I have seen many, many cute frames in the world priced under $500. Unfortunately, they don't carry them here. When I expressed frustration with this, and said that I needed to find something in my price range, the salesman shrugged, gave up on me, and gave me a box of "insurance company" glasses to paw through by myself. What a change from his personality five minutes earlier, when he was nestling $900 frames on my adorable nose and holding up hand mirrors for me! Jekyll & Hyde!

I ended up with an ill-fitting pair of glasses that I hate. I hate them so much, I pretty much never wear them. What a tremendous waste of money, and what a phenomenal disappointment. And too bad I actually need glasses at all, because I was so soured by this experience.

I feel like an old miser talking about how expensive everything is lately, but HOLY SHIT this place is expensive.

The service here is excellent.  The staff are really helpful and friendly.  The selection is OKAY.   I saw some cute things, I chose 2 frames I'd wear.

The prices aren't labeled on most frames, though.  I kinda felt like I got duped because I just wasn't expecting my total to be over $800.  Yeah, it's a (chain) boutique or whatever, but I bought my last glasses at a boutique in a much more major city for 1/2 the price.  And I liked them a lot more.

The first time I came here they had a really difficult time finding my insurance information and I had the same problem both visits after that. I will say that the optometrist that gave me my exam was very friendly and helpful but the employees are as vicious as used car salesmen. My purse was stolen with my glasses inside so I needed a new pair, I went in, the salesman helped me pick out a pair and when he told me how much I about fainted. $715!?!? My insurance only covers frames every 2 years so this was all out of pocket. When I stated that I wasn't paying that much the price came down to $500 then I said there was no way I was spending more than $300. He said hold on, let me talk to my manager then came back and said 300 it is. I wish I would have said even lower but oh well. Until this experience, I wasn't aware that frame prices were negotiable.

Good service. Every staff member I've interacted with has been professional, friendly, and helpful. The owner came across as a bit too full of himself (but no worries -- he's not there too often).

The frames they carry are modern and fashionable. It's true that the selection is not wide -- they definitely favor particular looks over others (if I were to put an adjective on the looks, I'd say maybe "LA-trendy"). The staff members are good consultants; they help the customers to pick out flattering shapes and patiently let them try different pairs, even when the store is busy.

The price is on the high end. It might feel as if your product doesn't warrant what you paid.  But I suppose everyone has to make a profit cut, so I don't begrudge them too much.

    Very expensive.

When I told the salesman I didn't like frames with big logos on the sides, he said, "You need that.  That's how people how what brand of glasses you have!"  Pay through the nose to be a walking billboard for some overpriced designer?  No thanks.

Then he told me that he doesn't even wear glasses, but the pair he had on were Cartier so he made an exception.

When it became obvious to him I wouldn't be dropping $800 here, he went outside to smoke a cigarette.

If you want a good value on a pair of glasses to SEE with, go somewhere else.  If you want to spend a lot of money on a status symbol to be SEEN with, this may be your place.

What a cute eyewear store. I read about Eyetique randomly somehwhere but wasn't in the need for any new eyewear. When I saw the store, though, I just had to go in! The eyewear here is super chic, with Coach, Robert Marc, Ray Bans, Dior, and so on. (I'm not familiar with all the brands they carry, other than the ones I've mentioned.) They remind me of eye boutiques in NYC. You'll probably be in the area if you're doing some shopping on Walnut St. Pop in and get yourself some new frames!
