    Man everyone is hating on LaLa! I didn't even know I had her until at the very end when she gave me her card and I didn't have an issue with her at all. Sure she wasn't very talkative, but she wasn't rude to me and I had a very relaxing eyelash perm.

    I bought a deal from Bloomspot for a $25 eyelash perm like ages ago and totally forgot about it until I realized it was going to expire on Feb 9th. So I went ahead and booked an appointment on their website, which was super simple to use IMO.

    I showed up a couple minutes early and was confused a bit because the name of the office is called Jewel Spot or something but then once you walk closer to the room it actually says Lavilash. The room is pretty small but is decorated in pinks and white and is quite adorable. I checked in with LaLa and she asked me if this was my first time. I said yes and she showed me all the different perms. I ended up getting the I curl, which she said was the most dramatic. I was afraid it would literally be straight up and I'd look like a crazy doll, but it actually turned out to be the right amount of curly. I loved it!

    The perm itself probably takes about 25-30 mins? They first apply something along your entire eye lid. Then she pulls back your lashes and they kinda stick to your eye lids. She then goes ahead and paints all different types of solution on them. One of the solutions did sting a bit but it wasn't unbearable. I also wore contacts and when I first opened my eyes they were a little blurry but after a couple of blinks they were fine. Overall a great experience and you should definitely give it a try!

    I first discovered eyelash perming and this little eyelash parlor from Amy S and upon my first visit last year, it was a quant kitschy little room with a few girls working in it.  I arrived promptly for my appointment and got the results I wanted and was even given a care card.  I liked it and was happy with my permanent curly eyelashes.  I vowed to return and become a frequent customer.

    Months past and I saw several coupons for this place on numerous websites.  It brought in more clientele and each time I arrived for my appointment, the wait became longer.  The lines of girls waiting for appointments quickly filled up their tiny waiting table and the crowd would continue outside the hallway.

    I even felt the quality and time spent on each client was getting worse and worse.  I noticed kinks in my lashes and they weren't even on both eyes.  When I would try and say something, they'd tell me to return a week later only to wait in a long line.

    I decided to no longer return as I weighed out the time spent waiting for a mediocre perm on my lashes that would last 2.5 months or so.  Perhaps if they expand their business then I may change my mind.  But for now I feel as if they can't handle the numerous appointments and clientele.  I felt that I spent more time waiting than on the actual process itself.

    I came here for an eyelash perm.  I was a first time customer and a first time eyelash perm recipient.

    This is tiny place on some floor of a building so I was already sketched out that I was going into some small place in a random building to have them put chemicals on my eyes.  When it comes to stuff dealing with people touching near my eyeballs, there's always a little fear that you might go blind, but whatever, I took the chance anyway.

    Well I found that the place was seemingly clean and I laid down.  I wasn't told anything about what was happening to me and the lady doing my perm seemed annoyed that I had so many questions to ask.  When she was done, my perm was uneven :( my right lashes had more curve than my left so it made me look like I had one squinty eye!

    At the end, I wanted to tip her, but she didn't have change for a $20!  She wasn't willing to go out and get change and I had to go back to work so she didn't get a tip and I had to live with one googly set of eyelashes for a few weeks.

    Save your money and go get eyelash extensions if you have short lashes like me.  I didn't think that the perm made that much of a difference anyway.  I hate to give this two stars because the truth is I haven't "experienced better" because this placed turned me off to ever getting an eyelash perm again.

    Oh man. I don't think I've ever encountered such a place with mixed reviews. But I just checked- lashes both even and curly, and not pink eye or blindness. I'm good.

    I'll start off by saying I purchased the $25 option for 1 perm from Bloomspot. Very glad I didn't chose the 3 for $58 (great deal as one is $50) though because I'm going to update this review in 6 weeks to see how things pan out. I'll start off my saying this disclaimer: despite whatever they tell you on the site, perms do still wreck your lashes. I mean, it's chemically changing your hair, not unlike the perms you get for your head hair (which I've gotten twice, and cried for the years that followed), so you can't expect to emerge from years of doing this without loss of lashes and then some. For that reason, I'm not making a habit of doing this-- only for special occasions (in this case, NYE).

    And trust me. Boy would I love to- I'm Asian, which as many of you reading this may know, means I have very fine, barely there, 1 cm long and SHORT lashes that go down. I've learned my lesson from extensions (which I haven't gotten recently- see that I reviewed Ebenezar, in which I diss perms haha- the irony)- both individually put on and the ones you do yourself (well, the others I've had are the 'flares' - the 3 lash pieces) and trust- it all ruins your lashes. My lashes were weakened after only doing 1-2 times of extensions, but eventually re-grew after I give it  rest. And I'd rather have the crappy natural ones I have now rather than perm damage, so sparse perm it is.

    The end result is that I don't LOVE perming as much as I do extensions. Perming is a product of the what God gave you so if you already have ok-decent lashes, you might be fine with perming and not risking the damage that ensues from extensions. If you're stuck with stubbers like me, expect that you'll get the best of what's possible with perming. WIth the I curl (their rec for me), I have the lashes that go straight up and are curly. But are they short and stubby but straight up. Yes. But am I happy with such a result because it's still much better than nothing? Yes.

    A note on decor and service. Ok the decor doesn't bother me- yes it's in a crappy small room. Oh wells. Asian beauty services are about the price point- expect nothing else. I'll give you an example. Booking. The service was NOT great about this. Stupid, usually uninformed me hadn't realized Bloomspot reccomends to book online (which seems to be what most people prefer here). Indeed, I'd say so. Because they suck at the phone. I called 1-2 days in advance, and left voicemails to make an appointment. No one returned my call. Then, when I called that morning of- of course, all the desirable times were taken (after 5pm, I work you know). I was very annoyed.

    We settled on 4:30. But then, the stylist on the phone kept nagging "Don't be late," times 100. I mean, I'm a punctual person but we're living in the society of customer rights. Shit happens and people run late. If that was the case, I'd like to know that if I informed them (and if they answered the phone, I'd still have my appointment. I was even more enraged to find out (after much sweating and running to their location) that some girl came in after me and said she had a 4:30- by this time, I was half way through my procedure. They still took her with no problem. So much for them harping on punctuality.

    Another annoying policy is the fact that you can't request stylists. WTF. Didn't know anything about Kiki since I didn't usually research Yelp that thoroughly as I normally do, but I gather she wasn't there. I asked who my stylish was and she told me she was Momo, which is good news such some people seem to like her here.

    I liked her too. She did not get solution around my eye, and seemed careful and detailed oriented. Yes there was poking and prodding, which was uncomfortable (may be hard to keep your eyes shut as you really need to do), but it wasn't painful. The extension process is more relaxing.

    Momo was the least chatty with the other stylists, BUT she was the least chatty with me too.  Which was not the best because I was  a bit in the dark about the procedure and thought she'd give me the spiel. She didn't ask me if it was my first time, and they did't ask me to sign the waiver (I didn't). I had to ask the basics about when I could shower (whenever), when I could swim/sauna (in 24 hours), when I could use a curler ( never).  Her business card (as the rest of them) have instructions on the back so be sure to take one.

    I'll have to see how curly my lashes remain in 6 weeks. Knowing the fine-ness of my hair, I'd say it has worked successful as much as it can, for me. So I do recommend at least trying it (but not making a habit, for reasons stated above). But then again, others seemed to have a really horrific experience so I'm not sure what to think.

    They say the procedure lasted 45 min and they were right- on the dot.

    I left a $7 tip in cash

    This is the WORST place in terms of customer service. There's a "receptionist" who also does lashes by the name of La La who is so rude that she's brain dead and devoid of any personality whatsoever. You walk in - she stares at you (no greeting or anything), you ask her a question - she stares at you without responding, you ask her to turn the music down so you can ask her about the eyelash perm - she stares at you some more. Then when she actually answers, it's in a rude tone.

    How's the eyelash perm? Who cares? With this kind of hostile and horrible service, why would you want to give them any of your hard-earned money? And yes, the owner KiKi is perpetually on vacation and when you ask LaLa when she's back, she doesn't know. In fact, she doesn't know anything. RUN - don't just walk away from this mickey mouse operation!

    Save your money!  I think their eyelash perms are ok, but what pushed me over the edge is the bad attitude I got from the front desk girl!! I ran late for an appointment and when I for there, I politely asked if they could still take me, but instead I was met with a look of disgust and no words!! Okay, not a problem.  It was my fault for being late, so I re-booked for the next day.  Well, I guess you get what you pay for because my lashes are un-even with one eye more crimped than the other.  They also didn't test the chemicals on my lashes first, because it burned off some of my thinner lashes so they are shorter than what I started with.  UGH!!

    Had Momo did my eyelashes for my 4th time here.  She seems to take extra care to perm my lashes.  While I was very pleased with her thorough work, she got the solution in my left eye.  It stung for awhile, and eventually left me with a pinkeye!  She gave me a one time use eye drop.  Then two days later,  the lashes from my other eye became mostly straight :( Seriously, the quality of the perms really depends on who you get.  Unfortunantely if you go on their website, it says you can't request stylist.   There is a deal of 3 perms for $99 at their place now, just FYI.

    Update:  I sent them an email explaining my situation.  They replied apologetically and offered to fix my lashes for free.  Anyway, my pinkeye lasted about 3 days, and healed by itself without medication (though it was painful for a good two days).  I got my lashes fixed by another stylist, and it looked fabulous! 3.5 Stars for this visit.

    Wanting to experience everything once and after a recommendation from a friend, I bought the bloomspot offer, 3 perms for $58 dollars. I had never done eyelash perming before but I did do some research prior to going so I knew somewhat what to expect

    Results? During the actual process, it was obvious the 'eyelash technician' was distracted and was more interested in chit-chattering with the other technicians than attending to my eye. Also, the way in which she handled the whole perming process on such a delicate part of the face was so rough, that the experience was actually quite painful, not because of the chemicals but because of her lack of dexterity.

    Additionally, I'm pretty sure she ended my perming early because three girls came in and needed MY spot to start their processes together. I hate hate hate places that rush you out just to get new people in. The evidence? The alarm went off a good 10 minutes after she removed the glue/cotton from my lashes, which might I add was not thoroughly AT ALL. When I left, I still had traces of glue stuck to my eyes which was quite disgusting..

    Now, considering she ended the perm early, my eyelashes were obviously not permed to the full "I" curve effect. They are also uneven, my right set of lashes are significantly lower than the left. When questioned about this, one of the bitchy eyelash technicians said, "Don't put mascara on, they will lift tomorrow". Today is tomorrow and they are still the same-UNEVEN.

    DO NOT go to this place. They are unprofessional and their service is horrendous, they do not care about you as an individual customer and they are only out to make money.

    If you're still keen on experiencing this place for yourself, at least do it cheap and purchase the 2 more perms off me, PLEASE. I will not be returning to this establishment. ever.

    Ok. When I first came here 6 months ago I was completely satisfied with my "I" curl and could not believe the phenomenal job KIKI did (keyword being KIKI.)

    Thank god I decided to wait till my 2nd and 3rd experience to get a better idea before I start dishing out my 4 to 5 stars.

    Have you ever noticed that Kiki (the owner ) is never there anymore? And there is no way to request her. So frustrating. And apparently according to her minions that run this joint, she is indefinitely on vacation.

    My eyelash perm the 3rd time barely lasted 2 weeks when they are supposedly last up to 6 weeks.

    I'm so screwed. I bought the package of 3 perms on bloomspot. What the heck am I going to do with the rest of them ?? Hmmm holiday gifts anyone?

    6 weeks out - lashes still curly.

    That's pretty much all you need to know. Sure it's a weird building and small room, but I'm not looking for a spa. I just want to take a 40 minute nap and wake up with gorgeous lashes. Done and done.

    I am just grateful I used a Groupon and got a discounted rate on my eyelash perm instead of paying the full $50.

    From the prior reviews I was expecting the long, shady hallway to get to the Lavilash facilities. I was not expecting one huge open room smaller than my apt. The reception area, waiting room, and 4 beds are all in one room with no curtains or anything to separate the different areas.  I guess it was a good thing to know that the employees could not forget about you when you're in plain sight.  They also leave the windows open to air out the smell of chemicals, even in 50 degree weather.

    But all of this I could look past if I walked out with a sexy pair of eyelashes. The truth of the matter is there is minimal difference after my I-curve eyelash perm (the most dramatic option). Granted, I am cursed with short, fine, barely there eyelashes to begin with, but post-perm I am looking at absolutely no difference from before I went in! Plenty of other people have better results than me so maybe my eyelashes are just a lost cause, but Lavilash did absolutely nothing for me.

    I purchased a Bloomspot deal before I read any of these reviews, and seriously considered just throwing it away after reading some of them.

    I decided to give it a try, and I'm so glad I did.  I didn't have any issues that anyone on here complained about.  I didn't feel tugging, poking, chemicals going into my eyes.  Though it was a bit awkward, laying there with my eyes closed FEELING all this happening, without much explanation, it was a completely painless process.  I did, however, do my research before, so I was a little familiar with how things work.  If I hadn't done that, I may have felt really weird not knowing what was happening.

    GiGi did my perm, and she was great and gentle.  My lashes look great and natural.  I would absolutely do it again.

    TIPS: Book through their site, it's hard to get a hold of them on the phone.  Do your research so you know what's happening.  Don't pay full price, it looks like they always have a deal going on somewhere.

    I cannot live my daily life if my eyelashes are not permed.  That being said, my favorite eyelash perm place is still Curvy Lashes with Yuki.  However, I cannot pay full price for her all the time.

    PRICE: Got a TIPPR deal for an eyelash perm here for $25 and decided to try it out.  I had a LOT of trouble trying to call and book.  GO TO THE WEBSITE TO BOOK.  WAYYYY easier and more convenient.

    PROS:  They have late hours so I would actually be able to make it after work.
    CONS:   They are in a shady building...but so is Curvy.  (Curvy lashes is actually in a worse building lol)

    When you walk in, the space is small..it is essentially one room with 4 beds side by side. ..they are the same as massage tables in chinatown but they are pink and "cute" and actually quite comfy as I fell asleep during the procedure.  Lavilash is like a little sweatship for perming eyelashes...they have timers set for each person/bed and 2 girls doing everything.  At curvy, I would have the individual attention of Yuki from start to finish.. So if you want a little more attention this is not it.  This is not a dealbreaker for me however, as long as they do a good job.

    I got the Straight up perm..it sounds wretched but its actually what I think most asian girls with short stubby lashes would benefit the most from this kind of curl.
    I am pretty relaxed during the procedures..I can imagine people being really anxious and thinking too much about it (since chemicals near the eyes is a good reason to freak out) but i just fall asleep IF I get the sense that the girl knows what shes doing.  These girls def know what they are doing.

    If this deal comes around again, i would def purchase.  Super affordable with the deal, and soooo worth it with a good result.

    My dear mom bought me a voucher from Bloomspot for 3 lash perms here.  I had no idea what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised.

    The office is hole in the wall, but really cute: shabby chic and good music playing.  You lay down on a bed, like the kind you sit on in doctor's offices, and keep your eyes closed for about 45min while someone pokes and prods for a bit.  The majority of time is spent with your eyes closed and just chillin'.  I guess you're letting the solution do its thing but I'm not really sure what went on since my eyes were closed for so long.  It's a really mysterious experience, come to think of it.

    The results were good! I was hoping for crazy exaggerated lashes but they're just curled like they would be if I worked really hard at using a heated lash curler.  I chose the most dramatic option (J curl), so I guess I just don't have long lashes.  It's not something I would pay full price for, but when there's a voucher I'd get it again.  Oh and I had Lala and she was perfectly sweet.

    It's been almost a month and my lashes are still curly.  I look like I'm wearing mascara when I wake up now, which bodes well for my 'roll out of bed and stumble out with a coffee cup' morning routine.  Unless you have eye-phobia, which is pretty reasonable actually, I recommend getting a deal here.  Make your appt online for convenience.

    I received a groupon as a gift from my friend. My appointment was for 12:30, it is now 12:52. Another lady who has an appointment at 12:30 has already left. I asked the worker at the next store if we should be concerned that the lavilash ladies are missing he said " oh, I see alot of people waiting here, they're always late.." really?? Groupons are not great for businesses, the whole point is to introduce new customers so that they'd return for more. I am not even in the door yet of this ghetto ass building and already I am not planning to return.
    So, the ladies in here has a MAJOR attitude problem. Rude, nasty and kinda has a serious jap-bitch pride stick up her asshole. Never again, even if it's free.

    This is my first eyelash perm experience and to be honest I don't know what to expect. First of all, the building itself is scary enough. I have to walk through a very long walkway to make it to the office.

    I was greeted by Gigi. She instructed me to sit down and started the procedure right away. It was quite a long process. I could feel and smell the chemicals she put on, brushed, pulled and adjusted throughout the whole time. It was kind of stingy and painful at times but mostly I was resting.

    The result was quite amazing. My eyelash is very curled and apparently it lasts for about 6 weeks. I am about 1 week after the treatment and it still looks amazing!

    The regular price is $50 but thanks to Yelp, I got it for $25!

    Perming vs. Extensions

    The Pros on Perming: Minimum maintenence. You can rub your eyes, wear mascara, go swimming, etc etc (after your first 24 hours). No need to worry about them. Entire process is about 45 minutes.

    The Cons on Perming: The process, in my opinion was very nerve racking. Since i was worried about the chemicals going into my eyes (even tho the technician assured me it wouldn't), I tried to keep them closed as tight as possible). This is hard to do since they tape the 'extra top portion' of your lids up toward your eye brows. Yes, my lashes are curled and I didn't go blind (thank goodness) but was it worth it to go thru the experience? not really.

    I'd rather go with Lash Extensions (read my other  review).

    What? I'm so surprised that I haven't reviewed this place yet! Honestly, I would give it 5 stars but every now and then I get uneven lashes so that's where I took off 1 star. It totally depends who you get as your eyelash lady, but in general they do a GREAT job!

    First of all, for those who also have a love/hate relationship with eyelash extensions THIS might be the perfect compromise! A PERM is great because it gives you similar benefits as eyelash extensions without being so high maintenance. It really brightens up your eyes and saves you the time of curling lashes everyday. (which isn't great for your lashes anyways.)

    I typically get my lashes permed about every 2 months, then use Rapidlash or some other type of conditioning treatment so that my lashes are healthy and full. This is a great compromise of eyelash extensions because you get to SCRATCH and rub your eyes all you want! (That was the most annoying thing about eyelash extensions!) Plus when people ask you if those are your real lashes, you don't have to be embarrassed anymore! Now you can say YES, they're REAL! :)

    What first timers need to know:

    - if you're Asian, try the "straight up" option first. The J and C curls tend to be TOO curly and your eyelashes will look frizzed and completely looped around! Sometimes I ask for something inbetween "straight up" and the J curl. I know it sounds weird to get the straight up option, but trust me... that's what we need.
    - bring cash for tip!
    - it'll seem like it's taking forever, so be patient. It's about 45 minutes so don't think they forgot about you.
    - sometimes the tugging pinches you so it's not 100% painless, but it's SUPPOSEd to be.
    - they get crazy booked sometimes so plan ahead! I think most complaints are the booking issues, but I think it's because they got SO popular that they don't know how to fulfill everyone's requests and appointments.

    For something as scary as your eyeballs/eyelids/eyelashes, I really trust gentle female Japanese hands to do this job. They are so sweet and adorable! I'm totally a regular!

    Got a group deal for this place and used it before a friend's wedding at the end of August. It is not October and my eyelashes ARE STILL nicely curled. Albeit not at the same perkiness as the first 3-4 weeks but I must say it's a great deal.

    For those who are unsure about having your eyes touched etc.. the key is staying calm; take a nap while they do it and you'll be fine.

    Also keep in mind the girls are young and don't speak english that well which may deter some patrons and make them feel uneasy... but they do the job and it lasts a long time!!

    ***1st visit: I almost didn't get to get the procedure done because I had extensions previously -5.5 months ago prior to coming here- For safety reasons it was advised that it should be 6 months until you get this treatment done (nevertheless I told her a little white lie).
    The fact that the owner was truly concerned for her clients well being instantly got my attention.

    I prefer getting extensions but the costs for good results are in the high $90's. So when I found out about Lavilash through Yelp and it's $22 deal for a process called eyelash perm...I had an open mind and thought: why not?

    So what is an "eyelash perm"?
    It's an hour long process in which they put chemicals -similar to that of which they put on your hair when you get it permed- to your eyelashes (not as strong).

    ~~~I got the "J" curl: an emphasized, natural looking curve.
    "C" curl: exaggerated curve
    "Straight Up": a little of both "J" and "C". It makes your lashes look long from the frontal view, hence literally the straight up look.~~~
    The result was good. I didn't need to use my eyelash curler for 2 months.
    ***2nd visit: I got the "Straight Up"
    The chemicals felt stronger. I felt it seep a little into my eyes and kind of burn. Ehh, the pain women have to go through to look good.
    The result? It looked good but, one side didn't look as enhanced as the other. I think the employee noticed it too but whatever.
    I'll come here again because it's:
    Inexpensive
    Customer service is adequate and friendly
    Utilizing your natural eyelashes (so it doesn't look funky if you shed an eyelash or 2 lol)
    Results are good and comfortable.
    This place was....OK! It was my first time and thought to give it a try since i got a Yelp deal.
    You walk in a room at the back of a building that leaves you wondering...wtf is going on here? lol..i felt a little wierd and extra huge in a room with 3 bed looking tables and a tiny mirror stand and bench.  This is where u get "consulted" and pick the type of curl you want.  I got the C-curl because she kept pushing me to..lol So long story short, i was directed to lay in one of the beds while they do their work.
    Occasionally they will come back and forth to check on how your doing, which is the wierd part because you try to figure out whats going on while your eyes are shut with curling rods and perm solution on your eyelids lol.  Next thing you know, its wake up time and you're greeted with a mirror in your face to inspect your sky high lashes.
    Overall, the place was ok, my lashes where curled but I couldn't get over how some where stuck together and was tempted to separate them myself ;-X
    I've been back 2 times since my initial review.  The 2nd time I got my lashes done, the curl wasn't as noticeable and it didn't last as long as the first time.  I just went back a 3rd time and the results are much better - almost as good as my first experience.  I'm giving Lavilash 3 stars now because the results aren't consistent.  I really think it depends on how busy they are when you go and who you get to do your lashes.
    I've been here a handful of times and it's been mixed results - sometimes it's curlier than the previous visit, sometimes one eye is curlier than the other.
    Kiki, the owner, did a great job but it's variable with the girls that work there now.  My lashes usually stay curled for about 4-5 weeks and sometimes a few of them look damaged.  It is much easier now though to make an appointment through the website rather than by phone.
    I might try other places since I like lash perming (extensions were too much maintenance and $$) but I want to find a place where the results are more consistent.
    First of all, this place is ghetto.  It's in the very back corner of some run down building.  On top of that, it's just a single room with rows of tables.  I almost ran for the door.
    Second, the little Japanese girls that work here are either sweet or just plain rude.  One girl, Lala, has some major attitude.  She needs to learn to give her opinion while being respectful.  She didn't even bother to hear me out or what I wanted before she interjected with her "Well this is JAPANESE eyelash perming" comment.
    Third, my eyelashes were barely permed the way I had hoped.  Had this girl listened to me before being her rude self, maybe she would have understood my concern.  I wanted a very clear curve upwards.  Like I would get from curling my eyelashes.  But instead, I got a 90 degree angle like it had been crimped.  This is exactly what I DIDN'T want.  My eyelashes are also bent in weird places on the sides.
    Fourth, these girls need to re-learn this technique.  There is NO way they are supposed to drop perming solution INTO my eye.
    Good thing I only bought 1 voucher for this service from bloomspot.  Otherwise, I'd have been stuck paying for services I probably wouldn't care to use again.
    I should've listened to all of the other reviewers, but I stupidly bought the Groupon before I checked reviews and figured..."how bad could it be for $20?" Well, if you like to feel like you just threw away $20+ tip, then go ahead and buy a groupon here or pay full price of $50.
    I had my service done by Lala as well, and I gotta tell you, this girl has a SERIOUS attitude problem. She doesn't explain anything properly, is really RUDE, and has no communication skills whatsoever. She's possibly the worst I've experienced in a long time. I don't understand why they would want someone like her to work there, considering that she is singlehandedly losing repeat customers from ever coming back due to her poor customer service.
    The pictures that they show you to help you decide between "I", "J", & "C" curl are not clear at all as to what the end product is going to look like, so I was really confused about which one to go with. Since I have short, super straight asian eyelashes, I asked for her "expert" opinion, since she is an "Eyelash Stylist". What a joke! After rushing me and giving me more attitude, she recommended "I" for the most "dramatic effect". I questioned if it's going to look curly or straight up like a 90 degree angle and she said "very dramatic". Uhm, ok.
    Im not going to get into the process, because honestly, if you are willing to risk getting your eyelashes permed in the first place, you really should not be bitching and complaining about how this and that hurts...just don't do it then. It definitely wasn't comfortable, but the bigger issue for me is that the damn beds you lie down on are so small, I was afraid I was gonna fall off if I fell asleep, so I was literally holding myself in place just in case I fell asleep.
    After I was done, it didn't come out even close to what I was expecting or hoping for. They were the 90 degree angle that I specifically didn't want. I asked her why the ends weren't curly, and she said, "no, eyelash perm doesn't make the ends curly".....uhm...really? Then, WHY IS IT A PERM!?!?!
    I honestly think that maybe if I got the "C" or "J" curl, maybe they would've come out better, but due to poor explanation and recommendation from Lala and misunderstanding by me, I wasn't happy with the end result. If the customer service was better, I would give it another chance and try the J or C curl, but honestly, I'm not going to waste anymore of my time at a place that doesn't care about their customers.
    When I first came to the address I was a little sketched out but I've been here several times and don't be fooled by the location of this place.
    Located in a wholesaler type building, this little 2 person run shop is a cute, small space. I remember seeing 3 spots to get your lashes done and usually when I'm here I'm not the only one.
    I usually go for the C-curl and almost always fall asleep when I get this done and I'm very happy with the results. They last quite a while and I've never had issues with eyelashes falling or getting damaged.
    My appt next week, I might try the J curl. Just to see how it looks :)
    I've debated getting lash extensions or a perm occasionally over the last few years but it wasn't until I saw the $25 Daily Candy deal that I committed to trying it out. I figured unless Kiki burned my lashes off, it wouldn't hurt to try.
    So first off, the "salon" is on the top floor of an unmarked office bldg near the wholesale district. It was pretty deserted when I went (Saturday afternoon) and I was a little sketched out walking down the long hallway of closed shops, showrooms, and who knows what.  I knock on the door and walk on in, not realizing I was walking into a 1 room studio. I was directed to lay down on 1 of 3 pink massage tables and was worried of what might come, but I noticed how careful the place was decorated (vintage furniture, all repainted) and felt relieved that she might take that same attention to detail on my poor eyelashes.
    there are 2 different kinds of curls you can choose from: "I" is angled 90 degrees from your eye and the most obvious, while "C" is a normal curl and more natural looking.  I chose "I" since my lashes are so straight.  Kiki asked me to close my eyes and i stayed that way for the next 30-40 minutes.  i felt some warm things on my eyes and a constant "brushing" motion, but no pain, burning or anything uncomfortable.  when she finished, i looked in the mirror and my eyelashes were curled all the way to the end, unlike the effect you get w/ an eyelash curler.  over the next few days, my lashes got curlier and i came to really appreciate not having to curl my eyelashes anymore.  I didn't experience my lashes falling out or anything weird and the curl grows out slowly so it's not super obvious that your perm is growing out.
    i would recommend this place for a subtle look change.  if you're looking for a dramatic change, then extensions are the way to go.
    The Best Natural looking lashes you could ask for.
    My first visit at the parlor was last winter of 2010, I read the procedures and looked at pictures on their website so that I knew what I should be expecting.  The parlor was a small, well lighted room with three beds.  It was KIKI who did my lashes during my first visit.  Although, I was thinking about getting the C curl, she recommended the I - curl for me and she was right on spot!.  It was a bit awkward just lying there with the eyes closed and for a good 10-20 minutes, the results was stunning.  The perm solutions stung my eyes a bit but I quickly forgot about the discomfort after I saw the results in the mirror.  My first perm lasted for about 6 weeks before it starts to go out.
    My second visit, was a drop in. I immediately noticed that they now have more beds in the room, could be a reason, to accommodate my dropping in with no appointment on a weekend.  I did not get KIKI this time but the technician did a good job with my I- curl although it did not last as long as my first one.
    Worth a visit to try it out to see if it works for you. But from my experiences, it is obvious that the lashes last longer if the technician knew what they were doing.
    So...I got a ridiculously great deal from Bloomspot for 3 eyelash perms for $58 at Lavilash. Never had it done before, but figured it would be a great way to skip mascara during my daily makeup routine. I booked my appointment online through their website which was easy. I made sure to book with any stylist other than LaLa who got many awful reviews for being bitchy and rude. I requested MoMo since a few other Yelp reviewers said she was good. I got to my appointment about 5 minutes early and they were able to take me in right away. I signed a consent form and asked for the "C" curl which is in between very natural and very dramatic. The technician who started the procedure never introduced herself and never bothered to explain anything that she was doing. I just laid down on a pink table and let her work on my lashes.
    It was a little uncomfortable having my eyelids taped slightly upwards, but I was kind of used to it since I have had extensions done before. Anyways, the perm solution does burn quite a bit and seeps into your eyes at times. I do think a lot of this could be minimized with better technique and attention to detail. The girl working on me seemed a little haphazard and her movements were rushed and robotic. Every few minutes when a timer would go off, she'd come over, apply some solution and then walk off to chit-chat with her coworkers. It was perfectly fine, since I didn't expect to be coddled the entire time. However, I can see how other patrons would fine this to be slightly unprofessional.
    Finally, when everything was all set and done, my eyelashes turned out pleasantly curled in a very natural way. The results aren't as dramatic as when you get extensions, but I like that there's no maintenance involved after a perm. We shall see how long the curl lasts. Either way, I am satisfied.
    After we finished, the technician gave me her business card and finally introduced herself...and guess who it was? Nope, it wasn't MoMo. I had LaLa. Eeeeep! But surprisingly, she was actually quite nice and I was lucky not to get any of that nasty attitude others had experienced with her. Wheeew.
    Will definitely return for my 2 remaining sessions and might try the "I" curl for a more dramatic look next time.
    I GOT PINK EYE FROM THIS PLACE!!
    NOT SANITARY!!!  This "lash parlor" doesn't even have a sink in it!  In order to wash your hands you have to get a key to the bathroom down the hall in the main corridor.  THIS MEANS THE WORKERS ARE NOT WASHING THEIR HANDS ON A REGULAR BASIS, let alone between customers!  When I went there were approx 3 people having the eyelash perm done (including myself) and only 1 worker who was switching between us.  I asked her how they wash their hands between customers and she looked confused but said "alcohol".  They might be saying they use hand sanitizer, but in my experience that didn't happen!
    After going there I got a recurring case of viral pink eye (which I also gave to my family.)   There's no proof I got it from Lavilash but its too coincidental for comfort.
    NOT WORTH THE RISK!!
    I am loving my eye lashes right now. They are sexy and bold. Lavilash is located in a tall building in Midtown. This building is filled with costume jewelry distributors.
    While getting my lashes done, the "lash technician" barely said a word. Since this was my first time getting chemicals near my eyes, I would have appreciated it if she told me exactly what she was doing to give me a peace of mind.
    The whole process took about 45 minutes. I didn't feel any pain or discomfort. Just confused as to what has going on.
    When she was done, I looked in the mirror and was impressed that my lashes had a "dramatic and sexy" look. The "lash technician" said my lashes would last for about five weeks.
    I am nearing my fifth week now and my lashes are not as "dramatic and sexy" as they were in week one. I took good care of them and even stopped wearing eye masks, when I sleep, so they could last.
    I would definitely go back to Lavilash because they are reasonably priced and they did last for a good three weeks.
    After reading some of the reviews I wasn't sure if I wanted to make an appointment. But I thought about and thought about it and decided I won't know for sure til I try it, right? I tried making an appointment a few weeks ago but they didn't have any availability that fit to my schedule. The only days that did fit, the stylist was suppose to be LaLa. Since there were so many complaints about her I asked if there was another stylist available. They tried to find me a day but unfortunately I wasn't able to make any of those days.
    So last week I went online and book the appointment. When I received the email confirmation, it said my stylist was going to be LaLa. I was a little worried but didn't feel like rescheduling again.
    On the day of my appointment I went over after work and when I got there, it was pretty empty. But soon after a few other people came in. I filled out the form and asked me a few questions and I decided to get the 'I' curl. I went to lie down on the bed and LaLa started the procedure right away.
    At first, it feels a little weird because they tape your eyelids open and you're suppose to keep them closed. The procedure was painless. After about 40-45 minutes I was done. LaLa showed me what it looked like and asked what I thought. I was very happy with the outcome and told her so.
    Even though I was a little hesitant at first, LaLa was very nice and pleasant to me. She didn't give me an attitude and she did a very good job. I will definitely come back here to perm my eyelashes again.
    I got mixed reviews.  I got there at 4:30 which is when my appointment was and ran into another customer complaining that she was about to do the procedure but got kicked off because she was too early. Yikes.
    I wish there was an option to book Kiki, the owner I assume? because the girl who did my procedure, Lala was (really) sloppy. I let her choose what curl she thought would suit me the best. When the procedure started, she put some liquid on my eyelid and it was about to drip into my eyes. She pulled my lids pretty hard also when she started placing my lashes on the rod, I'm pretty sure she pulled some lashes off, because i felt several pinches near the corner of my eyes.
    During the whole procedure I was uncomfortable because my eyes were half opened and the liquids they were putting was getting into my eyes (causing a slight burn).
    The assistants were also busy talking to each other. Finally! I'm sure the assistant messed up because half way in, she took off the rod on my right eye and touched my lashes and mumbled something to other assistant. The other assistant came over and mumbled some more. Lala quickly put another rod on, so..what happened? I would never know because several minutes later. She said ok you're done, gave me a mirror and then completely went to the side and started talking again.
    The final results:
    Left eye- some lashes look messed up, but overall pretty curly.
    Right eye- slight to no curl; what the heck?!
    They are uneven! =(
    I'm really disappointed, I wished they were more professional. Before the procedure I really thought about buying a package deal, but with the results, i am weary about their "satisfaction guaranteed."
    I was not happy with the outcome of my lashes. They are now shorter and sparser! The point of getting this done was so I wouldn't have to curl my lashes prior to applying mascara. Instead I still have to curl my lashes and they are not as long as they were before I had this done!
    The woman told me to get the 'I" curl which would be the most dramatic. Ok sounds good, I said. Let's go with that since you're the expert! Instead I didn't see any of that dramatic effect when I was done. I've had my eyelashes permed before at a different place and I really liked what I got. I figured it would be the same here but not the case. I purchased the Yelp deal and was really excited about getting this done.
    Another thing was the lady wasn't gently when taking off the adhesive and ended up breaking some of the skin on my eyelid. How do I know this?? B/c she tried to redo the procedure and it started stinging!! It didn't sting the first time around. I told her to stop and she said I would be able to get a refund from Yelp since I wasn't satisfied and she couldn't redo it. Waiting to see if that will happen...
    I had purchased the Lavilash Yelp deal for $22 which is a great deal considering it's $50 on the reg.. but when I arrived to their studio.. I was a bit scared at how ghetto the space was. You have to walk down a long hallway to the very corner room where there are three beds set up for you to lay on..
    They give you a piece of paper that had pictures of all the different lettered styles they have to offer.. I was between the "C" curl and the "I" curl.. since it was my first time and I didn't know better, I told them to do the "C" curl. After a long painful process of them doing the perm.. I didn't see any difference in the way my lashes looked. I also wasn't sure if it was supposed to hurt like it did. I'm thinking the girl that did it for me didn't clamp my eyelid correctly and during the whole 30 minutes and even the whole day after.. I felt a burning sensation along the brim of my eyelid. I had asked the girl if it was a chemical she was putting on my eyelid but she said it wasn't..
    After I expressed my discontent, the girl said that if you have short lashes, you should go with the "I" curl since it gives the most dramatic effect. So why wouldn't she aware me of that before we started? So I asked if she can re-do it with the "I" curl because it didn't seem like anything had been done to my lashes. She hesitatingly agreed to.. and I had to lay for another 30 minutes.
    After this second attempt though.. my lashes came out beautifully curly. I was very happy with the outcome after she did the "I" curl.. and I would probably come back a second time if this deal arises again.. It's now been long after a month since I've gone here and it's still in it's curly state..
    So I'm on my 8th week after my lash perm. Still curled like the first day.
    My left side is different from the right; a little more curlier so putting on mascara gets tricky. The lady who did it was very cold so didn't inform me that the post instructions were on the card she handed me once I was done. I've noticed my eyelashes falling here and there nothing major but didn't happen before unless I used the eyelash curlers which was the main reason I decided to try and perming. Overall it lasts for longer than 5 weeks as stated but I guess depending on the person; Groupon pricing was great but I wouldn't pay $50 to be freaking out if the chemicals used are going to blind me..besides the fact I get panicky about people being so close to my eyeballs.
    Yea the "salon" is located in an industrial building after all this is NYC but the room is very nicely decorated and clean.
    I would recommend as a one time thing...I don't think I would do it again but we'll see. ;)
    p.s.hard to get appointment though.
    I like the results of the perm and it makes putting on mascara ten times easier and faster. I used to have to put mascara on and curl it so that I got the curl I wanted and it always took a very long time, but with this procedure, I no longer have to curl my lashed, I just put on mascara which glides on effortlessly now and I'm good to go.
    The lady that did my lashes, LALA, was not as nice as I expected. I expressed my concerns about the entire procedure and showed her my doubts, and so she basically said, "then don't do it. We'll refund your groupon,"
    But I went with it anyways and she did an amazing job. I guess doing this for many years and constantly getting girls who come in and whine about it gets annoying, but I still didn't like her attitude.
    One complaint is, they waxed off part of my eyebrow during the procedure... I only noticed it after I came home.
    So... I don't know if it worked very well...  They asked right afterwards if it was as I expected (so maybe they knew it wasn't that curly?) and I said I didn't know what exactly I should expect... They were kind of curled the day of... more like "J" than the "C" I asked for though... and it's been two days since and droops visibly more every day. Maybe my eyelashes are just stubborn... I have difficulties manually curling it too which is exactly why I wanted to try perming...
    The experience was okay.  The building is pretty darn sketchy, so you'll have to be brave! The room itself is kind of cutely decorated and pink, so I wasn't worried once inside. I think I had Lala also. It's hard to say what was really going on since my eyes were closed the whole time... Not that painful, I guess. There was a slightly burning sensation so maybe some leakage of solution or eyelids coming open. There was also some pinching/poking sensations...
    Got a Groupon for this place, and was pretty excited based on the reviews & their website.
    As stated by everyone, this place is very small, and not at all luxurious (at most, a bit cutesy pink - but in need of redecoration/touch-ups). I admit at first I was pretty horrified and considered turning around back out the door, but after looking around at the other customers on the beds getting their lashes done, I figured I'd suck it up and give it a try.
    The lady I had (didn't catch her name), was professional enough while she showed me the options, but strongly pushed the "dramatic I" shape, so I decided to get that one.
    On the beds, as she started applying the cotton things/eyelash contraption, it was really uncomfortable since it pulled at my eyelid. The solution stung around my eye a bit, and I was tearing and freaking out when this all happened, thinking I was going to be blind forever. The attendant did ask me a few times if I was OK (which is better than nothing), and I told her it kind of stings. She said it's fine, which made me a bit more at ease, but I just could not wait to get the stuff off my eyes.
    After about 40-ish minutes, she finally takes it off, and realize I had not been blinded by the chems. I sat there and teared for a moment out of joy and relief.
    My lashes look pretty good right now, and I think they did a very good job. I really wish that they gave a bit of a warning before I laid down that the procedure is really uncomfortable, and it's OK if the solution stings. It would have saved my imagination from thinking the worst.
    It would take me a lot of guts to get anything done with my lashes for a while. But if I did decide to get a perm again, I would probably come back here to Lavilash again.
    Let's be realistic, those reviewed this as a " nice & clean" or "well decorated " is not giving an honest feedback. The place is borderline ghetto, and very bare bone.  The girls who work here do not know what customer service is. Let along, they can barely communicate w/ you due to poor English. Things definitely get lost in translation.  My lash stayed curly for  few wks BUT it also became dry, fuzzy and started breaking + falling off. It's a result of the cheap, harsh chemical they use. Overall, a poor/ unsafe choice for your eyelash perms.
