I have been going to eye doctors and wearing glasses since childhood.
Dr Stamboli is the BEST that I have EVER been to, yes I am yelling.
He basically saved my eyesight by seeing the beginnings of a cataract in one eye, and than the next year having me come in with no appointment when I had a little blur in one eye.
He was able to diagnose and send me to a specialist for a detached retina.
Seriously, the best!! -

Needed an eye doc in ATL and on a rec from a friend, tried Dr Stamboly a few years ago at Eye Etc, and have been going back ever since. Love this place - friendly staff, great service, thorough doctor who treats you like a name, not a number. Great location for us Inman Parkers, and I have never had trouble with parking.

I've been having my annual eye exam performed by Dr. Stamboly for three years, and he's the best eye doc I've had since my mom stopped paying for my eye exams. Every year, I freak out when it's time for the "pressure test" and every year, Dr. Stamboly is patient with me while I act like a 5-year-old. He's also great when I ask him questions about my eyes - like why they twitch sometimes (likely too much caffeine).
The staff has always been great with me - whether it comes to scheduling my appointments, follow-ups, or providing my prescription to 1-800-contacts, I've never had a problem with them. I find them all to be personable and helpful. They've helped me fix both my eye glasses and my sunglasses more than once.
My only issue is parking. Thank goodness Eye Etc has two dedicated spaces, but the parking crazies who stake themselves in the parking lot to charge the surbanites get on my nerves. I've almost tapped a couple of them when they've walked toward my car to stop me.
If you're looking for an excellent eye doctor, Dr. Stamboly is it. I'd bet my eyes on it.Comment from Michael S. of Eye Etc 7/19/2011

I wanted to find a local optometrist close to where I live who cares about their customers. I was not disappointed. Dr. Stamboly gave me a more thorough eye exame than any other optometrist I've ever had. His prices were reasonable, and I feel he's not out to rip anybody off.
He gave me a trial pair of contact lens to last for a couple of weeks while I wait to get my order in from http://lens.com. http://Lens.com screwed up my order, but that's a whole other story. I came back in to Eye Etc. to see if Dr. Stamboly could sell me another pair of lenses as I'm not looking to get something for nothing. Dr. Stamboly happily and willingly gave me another trial pair to last me until I get my order in.
Thanks, doc! I'm a satisfied customer! -

Love Dr. Stamboly, love Clove and the rest of the staff. Dr. Stamboly gave me a very thorough eye exam and answered all of my questions - not something I'm used to from the mall eye places. I had to return the next afternoon for a dialation, and wasn't charged for another office visit - something that has happened at other offices. And Clove was great at helping me find frames that fit my face and my personality - and she's so warm and funny, I spent about half an hour just sitting and chatting with her.
This place makes me wish I needed to get my eyes checked more than once a year. -

Best. Customer. Service. Ever!
They are super efficient, professional and fast. You can order and pick up contacts in less than a week! -

Firstly, let me state that I am, in fact, blind as a bat. If someone was to kick me over and steal my glasses, I would be helpless and forced to touch walls to walk in a straight line. So finding a good place to have my eye exams done and to get happening frames (and contacts too, yeah) is really important.
So, I went to the mall. BIG MISTAKE. After spending the most useless 70 dollars of my life on a quasi-exam and bad perscription, I decided that it was well worth the money (and it really doesn't cost that much more, I found out) to go to someplace that knows what they're doing. So I pick Eye Etc. in Little Five Points.
I work in Little Five, so it was super convient. I went in on Saturday and had an appointment set up for the following Monday. Really nice people, great service.
The exam itself was really throuough and Dr. Stramboly is super easy going and personable. Going to the doctor (of any sort) makes me a nervous wreck - but this was easy, and even a little fun.
The frame selection is wonderful - especially if you like things on the funkier side - but there are lots of simple metal frames for the more conservative bespeckled out there as well.
So, If you're looking for a place to get good quality and a good price, and great service, look no farther than Eye Etc. You'll dig it. -

I went to see Eye Etc. today, and was extremely pleased with the result. In fact, I've worn glasses and contacts for the last 25 years or so, and I'd have to say that this was probably the best experience I've ever had at an optometrist.
There wasn't one thing in particular that stood out for me... the selection was very good, but not the best. The equipment seemed adequate, but wasn't the most high-tech I've seen. It's they just do all the other things so very well---the really important things...
The staff/customer service is very knowledgable, and very friendly. The exam was thorough and attentive. Prices were very reasonable. Honestly, I don't think I could ask for any better experience.
I'd strongly recommend Eye Etc. to any friend or family member. -

Dr. Stamboly is the best eye doctor I have found in Atlanta, hands down.
For starters he got my prescription right!
Yes! He got it correct, unlike the previous 3 eye doctors I had the misfortune of wasting my time and money on, Dr. Stamboly had the knowledge and took the time to get it right . His staff has always been patient and helpful.
Previous doctors gave me the wrong prescription; One notable Dr. in Buckhead even transposed my lenses and then would not correct the problem after I had spent over $500 on the glasses!!Never again!!!
So do yourself (and your eyes and your wallet) a big favor and avoid those "vision centers/crafters" located in the strip malls.
I feel fortunate to have found an eye care office in this town that actually cares about it's clients and is competent and has a super cool glasses selection. -
Review from Elaine O.
My first visit was great. Dr. Stamboly was friendly, professional, and thorough. My follow-up visit was not as pleasant. I called to see if it was ok if I came in 15 minutes late. They said no, so I rushed to make my appointment and was even early. I ended up waiting for almost an hour, so needless to say, I was pretty upset. Later, 1-800-Contacts called them to verify my prescription, and they said that I hadn't come in for a follow-up. WTF?!
So, it's really 5 stars for Dr. Stamboly and 3 stars for the staff. -
Review from Tamara S.
I was in a very, very old--like eight years old--pair of glasses ever since I left a newer pair at a hostel in Costa Rica a few years back. I finally decided that enough was enough and even though I primarily wear contact lenses, I really wanted a new pair of glasses.
I didn't see Dr. Stamboly for my eye visit, but came into Eye Etc. with an updated prescription. When I walked in, one of them employees asked what I was looking for. I had some idea after browsing on Warby Parker's website (worth a look, by the way, though they're perpetually sold out of most styles and home try-on is usually not available because of short supply), so I told her that I wanted a light colored plastic frame, probably not too square in shape. Their selection isn't huge, but what they have is really great. I also told the person helping me that I was on the lower range as far as budget goes. She picked out several pairs of glasses that suited my criteria and gave me honest and really helpful feedback. It turned out that a more square-shaped frame worked best for me because my face is somewhat round. After comparing several pairs, I was pretty in love with one frame in particular. I needed some time to think so they wrote down the style number for me.
I comparison shopped at Lenscrafters and found a pair I liked, but not as well. The price was still higher than the pair at Eye Etc. and I decided to go with the glasses I really loved. I also wanted to support a local business.
There was a bit of a wait when I went in to order my glasses, but the staff was apologetic and thorough, but quick, when helping me to place my order. My glasses were, I think, fairly reasonable and I just got them back today (about four days after ordering) and could not be happier. Hopefully I won't need a new pair of glasses for a while but I'll definitely be back to Eye Etc. in the future iffing I do.Listed in: little five

Eye Etc. is simply a fabulous eyeglass shop. They stand behind their product. I purchased glasses there and there were some problems from the manufacture and they got me replacements at no cost to me because it was a defect.
They are prompt with communication and offer realistic timeframes for getting the work done on your glasses.
I can't imagine going anywhere else for my glasses! -

Absolutely fantastic - BEST eye doctor and staff ever. Dr. Stamboly is awesome and totally attentive. He takes his time with you to ask and answer questions. His staff are great, too. They were extremely helpful with me when I had to replace the lenses in my frames and order more contacts. They even took care of all my insurance stuff for me! They have a great selection of frames, too, from budget practical yet stylish to designer brands.
The location is perfect, too, right in the same shopping plaza as Savage Pizza, Junkman's Daughter, and the Vortex. Get your eyes checked, then go have a beer! :)Listed in: Vanity

I've been having some issues with my vision for over a year. Been wearing glasses since the teens. Before I went to Eye Etc. I was going to this one place and telling the doctor that I was having some issues with my sight and I just felt like he wasn't taking me seriously.
To be honest I found Eye Etc. by reading Yelp! Long story short I went for my first exam a few weeks ago and it was great. We had a little mix up with my insurance in the beginning, but other than that things went smoothly. Dr. Stamboly wasn't hard on me when I told him how many days I would sleep in my contacts or how much this full time worker/part time writer looks at a computer screen a day.
He offered thoughtful advice and also let me try two different contact lenses to see which ones I liked best. My follow up was even better because he decided to bump DOWN my prescription. His test found that I was seeing well at a lower power so he reduced my contact lenses. I was ecstatic!
Eye Etc. is also close to home and I like the fact that it is a one stop shop. I've ordered my contacts (a years supply) and they are going to call me when they come in. -

Another year, another pair of glasses chewed up by another dog.
Chris & co. fixed me up with a new pair of glasses and eased my concerns re: tiny scratches on anti-reflective coatings by getting me lenses made of a different material.
Just to recap, in the past year and a half I've had:
- 2 pairs of glasses (maybe three, they might be able to salvage my recently chewed up pair)
- 4 pairs of lenses (due to my own clumsiness)
- 2 replaced nosepads
- 1 eye exam
And I've only had great experiences. I love this place.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Seems like the name should be "Eyes, Etc." Why only one eye? And what's with the lack of punctuation? Anyway, per the rating (A-OK), it was perfectly serviceable for the purpose of getting a new prescription (as required annually in the state of GA).
It's in a good location for the area (L5P) and I try to support local indie businesses. The doctors were both friendly and competent, esp. Stamboly, who owns the place. He is obviously a good doctor. Though, I'd agree with Elaine O. below about having two different ratings for the doctor(s) and the staff. It seems like she had a similar experience.
Dr. S. was away when I went in for a second app't (a follow-up with Dr. Blankenship). I'd not gotten promised follow-up or reminder calls, so yes, I missed my first follow-up.
When I went in, I was told I would need to reschedule because I wasn't wearing the contacts I was given by Dr. S. That requirement wasn't mentioned when I called them to make the second follow-up appointment, after I realized I must have missed the first one.
I also asked what number they had on file because I'd never gotten any promised calls from them. Good thing I asked, because they'd entered the wrong number in the system on my first visit. I was told that they didn't have any samples of my prescription and so I'd need to reschedule...again.
I just said I needed the Rx and the ladies began to tell me that it was Georgia state law that I do a follow-up appointment and that they could not see me today if I didn't have those contacts. I raced back to the house to look for them. I had been early so luckily had some time.
I didn't feel welcome upon my return. After Dr. B. saw me, I was casually asked if I wanted to get a year's worth of contacts right then and I said "no, thanks" -- I just needed one box to start off.
After my credit card had already been charged around $30 for the one box, the lady informed me they were out of stock of my Rx and handed me the receipt. I asked if I'd be called when the box came in. She said "yes and don't you have those contacts", pointing to my eyes in an effort to remind me that I had contacts in, so I was good to wait.
In the end, I opted to wait for lenses from 1-800-CONTACTS, but EE was a fine place for getting a check-up. That cost was under $80, with no insurance. -

The first time I ever visited Dr Stamboly and the rest of his staff was truly the epitome of amazing service.
I woke up one morning with incredible pain in my eye. At the time, my normal optometrist was out in the suburbs, and I had no way of getting there. I didn't really know what to do, so I googled my address and 'optometrist'. Eye Etc was the first result, a mere one-block walk from my apartment. So I gave them a call.
At first, it seemed like all was lost -- I was told their first available appointment was in a week. I was in so much pain at that point that I lost it and started crying, and was immediately asked, "Is this an emergency?" When I said that it was, I was told to be there in an hour, because they could see me for an emergency appointment.
Dr Stamboly instantly caught on that I had a corneal ulcer, and prescribed medication for it. He then continued to see me twice a week for the following two weeks, just to make sure that my eye was healing properly, because corneal ulcers can scar and cause vision loss. His entire staff is amazing, from their extreme willingness to deal with my weird payment methods (my mother's credit card, because I don't have vision insurance), to the time that I fell on the pavement outside of their office and skinned my knee through my jeans, when they helped me wash all the gravel out of the skin!
Just amazing people, all around. And btw, I don't have another optometrist anymore :) -

Dr. Stamboly is an extremely thorough doctor. I went for my initial consultation, and after viewing my eyes, he decided I needed to see a retina specialist. He explained that he wanted to make sure I wasn't suffering from a degenerative condition, or if my eyes just hate contacts. When I went to see this specialist, he was amazed that Dr. Stamboly noticed the holes in my retina as they were out of the normal view that an optometrist can see. After returning for my followup , he prescribed a great set of contacts that feel absolutely wonderful! The ladies in the office are very nice and helpful as well!

My first visit to Eye Ect. was impressive. Dr. Stamboly was very thorough and that is what I love. I wish the selection of eyeglass frames were large however I do not need a lot of choices, it will take me longer to decide. LOL!
