Peter is AWESOME!!!!!! I have been everywhere from Frederic Fekkai, Eva Scrivo, Jeffrey Stein Salon to Dramatics NYC (oops I guess I should be writing reviews for all of my salon visits)
Peter took the time to fix my roots and the prices were VERY reasonable! He is a genuine person and my hair looks amazing!
It's funny to me how everyone who writes reviews on here writes about Peter.
I'm sure Peter is super and everything, but I went today and got highlights from Judith and she was fantastic!
She did a great job with the highlights and cut!
I recently moved to the city and was in desperate need of getting my hair highlighted/cut. I saw the reviews on yelp and decided to give it a try! Peter did an amazing job on my highlights/cut!! I have dirty blond hair, and whenever I go get highlights done, I am truly never satisfied (I'm very picky). Peter really took the time and went up to the roots of my hair and it looks so natural!! I will definitely be going back here from now on as long as I'm in the city:)
Rosie was able to make me AND my fiancee happy with a shorter, but not too short style. It still looked great days and washings later, the true test of a good hairstyle. When my hair guy for the last 20 years retired I wasn't happy--but I feel better now.
After going to a place in alphabet city for years, I was getting sick of the trek all the way down there from midtown east and decided it was time for a change anyway. I found Extravaganza through yelp and also saw the good reviews on citysearch. Only a 10 block walk from my apt, I thought I'd give it a try.
Peter was also my stylist. I only wanted highlights to touch up my roots and a simple trim, but was open to suggestions. We stuck with the trim, but Peter suggested adding lowlights. He really took his time with me, and even threw in a conditioning treatment for my super-dry hair. More than three hours later, I left very satisfied. My hair was so soft I couldn't stop touching it. The prices were very reasonable (especially for Manhattan).
I noticed a lot of repeat customers coming to see the other stylists, and all seemed very competent. The salon itself is nice but small and not super-fancy, but you will leave feeling and looking great. I'll be back.
So I have been going to this salon for maybe like 6 months and have always gotten my hair cut from Peter. He really does make your hair look AMAZING and knows how to layer so you don't end up with a mullet. He also understands how to cut hair so it grows out properly and doesn't look insane after a few months.
HOWEVER.
I went there a few weeks ago and got my regular haircut with bangs. I'm not sure if he was having an off day (he seemed distracted by the number of clients and walk outs he was having that day) and he made my bangs look INSANE. I had to go to another salon to fix it since I felt bad. I feel like I can never go back but wanted to warn all patrons - try to book in for like, a Sunday Afternoon when they are less busy. I had him squeeze me in on a Friday before a long weekend and that was my fatal mistake.
Other than that, great value and Peter is very talented. Just keep an eye out!!!
I moved to NYC 6 months ago and had to leave my stylist of 3 years! I have always gotten compliments on my hair and I had a really hard time finding someone I would trust to touch my blond locks...
But after 4 months I couldn't take it, my hair needed serious help. A friend recommended Peter and he was AWESOME!! He made me feel very comfortable and everyone was very friendly. I live in the west village but it was worth the hike up there! I will def. be back! Thanks Peter!

Peter at Extravaganza is both personable and gives great haircuts. As a guy, I don't want to go to some frou-frou ultra-chic hair salon, but I still want to look my best. At Extravaganza I always get a stylish haircut every time I visit, and unlike other places I've been to, it looks good immediately -- I don't have that "just got a haircut" look that you get elsewhere. Extravaganza is a pleasant salon, with nice people, and they don't charge exorbitant prices. I would highly recommend it!
