This place was pretty disappointing. I booked the "signature suite" thinking it would be a nicer than the standard suit. If it is, I am afraid to see the standard rooms.

First of all, there was a hypodermic needle left on a chair in the room. I am NOT making this up. It was sealed in the medical wrapping and it was probably left by someone with diabetes (I hope), but come on! You might as well leave broken glass in the tub at that point.

Second, the place stunk. I mean smelled very bad. The lobby, the halls, and the room...each getting progressively worse. I was there for 3 nights, and I left the windows open for my stay, so the room smelled ok by the end. I should have charged the hotel a "smell better" fee.

The place looks like a slightly upgraded Motel 6. There was a desk, small eating table and a kitchen, which is really why I booked the room to begin with. The kitchen and the bathroom had foe-wood flooring and the carpet was new (though pretty standard cheap carpet) which is why it is called their "signature suites."

It was conveniently located, just off of 101, and a short drive to downtown. I was working in Goleto, so I needed to be within ear-shot. Otherwise, something downtown would be much better.

Note: You do not get shampoo or any other grooming items other than soap. Housekeeping only comes once a every seven days of stay (or you can pay extra for a cleaning). You can get new towels any time, however.

Bottom line: if you are only staying a short time, stay somewhere else (closer to downtown if posible) and pay for the fridge/microwave. If you are doing an "extended stay" and really want a kitchen so you are not eating out all the time and have to toss the leftovers, you might want to stay here...but bring some Lysol and expect to do some cleaning.

Stayed here thinking it was going to be at least clean. It was the only choice as I was attending a graduation at UCSB and all other hotels under $400 were booked.
Wrong choice. Told the staff and they seemed to not really care. The manager offered her regrets but that was it. Avoid at all cost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Extended Stay Hotels are not really a full-service hotel, but I wasn't planning for an extended stay anyway, but just for one night only.

I got a job to do the following day at Santa Ynez Peak, and before I left from our Burbank office in the evening, I got to reserved a room in the nearest hotel beforehand.

There were only two choices available that night, either Extended Stay America @ $155, or at Bacara Resort @ $550 for a night.

Since I was using a Corporate Card, I could have gone for the $550 room, but I guess the company would fire me later for profligate spending and financial indiscretion.

Therefore, I took the $155 room at Extended Stay America in Santa Barbara.

When I got there late that night, I found that the place wasn't bad at all, which is only a quarter mile from the Turnpike Road exit on Fwy-101. The room was clean, spacious and the bed was just fine.

It was over a hundred miles drive from Burbank and I was tired, so I just turned on my laptop, brushed my teeth, turned on the TV, shaved, did stretching exercise, checked my e-mail and surfed tv channels, but not necessarily in that order.

The TV was still on when I awaken and realized that I've missed going out for dinner, which was completely forgotten.

Anyway, everything was quite okay with my non-extended stay at Extended Stay America in Santa Barbara...
