5 reviews for Extended Stay Deluxe Oakland - Alameda Airport
As Extended Stays go, this one is okay. The location is kind of odd- it feels far away from the world, in an isolated business park by the airport. It's in the most alienating part of Alameda/Oakland, and there's really nothing to walk to. (I think some of the reviews here are mixing it up with the other Extended Stay in Alameda). But there's a Safeway a short driving distance away.
The hotel itself has a good sized laundry room, a teeny but serviceable workout room (no weights, no real space for floor work). My room was clean, and the kitchen had a real oven, unlike many Extended Stays.
The bed is really uncomfortable, and when I tried to turn on the heat in my room, I got fiercely blowing cold air. But they gave me a little "welcome" bag with a razor, a granola bar, toothpaste, and some other stuff, like Advil PM. Didn't see the "PM" on the label at first and almost made a big mistake, but it's nice that they give you stuff.
The best part about Extended Stays is saving money by making your own food, and the cheap internet. That's about it.
I have been here for a month.
It is okay to start with, but then it starts to feel like a minimum security prison.
There is nothing within walking distance of this place. It is not a good place to wake up hungry at. The provided breakfast is coffee and bagels only. DADDY NEEDS PROTEIN !
My DVD player is in black and white. WTF ?
I am dying for my company to move me into my new crib. This place is a slow painful death.
When Billy Joel wrote about a hotel in the song "Blond over Blue" he must of been staying here.
Blond over Blue by Billy Joel.....
Some days when I'm far away
In a lonely room in a cold seclusion
Some nights when I'm wound so tight
There is no release, there is no solution
In hell there's a big hotel
Where the bar just closed and the windows never opened
No phone so you can't call home
And the TV works, but the clicker is broken
But in the darkness I see your light turned on
You know my weakness, you know how I respond to
Blonde over blue......
Ohhh well.
Too bad the blond didn't answer my phone call.

This place is cheap. That is it's primary selling point, and at least it is honest about it. No one stumbles in here thinking it's the Ritz.
This hotel also wins the award for "Hotel ceiling I have stared at for the longest time." My recollection is that the ceiling was white with a popcorn finish. And as the sun slowly moved across they sky, its beams captured occasionally in the water of the marina which lines the shores, the popcorn bumps traced slowly shifting shadows on the ceiling. Like the work of a discount bin sundial, the shadows could be used to track the progression of a day spent in the pursuit of nothing more than the end of the day. If, on my deathbed, I am given the chance to experience one day over again, I would have to seriously consider this day simply because it felt as though it would never end.
The sunlight in hotel rooms seems to have a different quality than sunlight anywhere else. It seems starker. It accuses. No shade or curtain ever completely blocks it, and most leave a slice right across your pillow where the sun can shine unabated on your face.
Thus did I stay, and thus did I leave: having done what I came to do, and wondering before, during, and after whether it was possible, and, if possible, advisable.

Extended Stay Deluxe is hidden within the business park of Harbor Bay in Alameda. I usually refer friends and family to this hotel since it is less than 5 minutes away from Oakland International. The entire hotel was renovated recently. Its very nice and clean. Each suite has its own kitchen which was designed for guests with a longer stay.
My only negative feed back.... during dinner time you can smell the aroma of food that guests have been cooking in their kitchens. Walking down the hall was not a very pleasant trip back to my car.
4 Stars for the new renovation
Minus 1Star for the poor ventilation
I discovered this Extended Stay location during a recent walk. It looks so beautiful. I would recommend this to anyone traveling to Alameda for work. Extended Stay Alameda overlooks the water. I observed many guests watching the boats sail by on a lazy Saturday afternoon. The view must look amazing in the morning. Imagine taking coffee outside!
