This place only gets one star because I don't think it will let me post a review with zero stars.

WORST HOTEL EVER.

I am in a touring dance company, so I spend about 6 months out of the year on the road - I have seen some less then desirable hotels and some amazing ones already in my time on the road.  Nothing compares to how awful this place was.

Room #1:  My roommate and I move in and find the bathroom to be less than clean.  There were brown water spots on the counter and the floor, and the tub just didn't look like it had been scrubbed recently.  We mentioned to the desk that we would like the bathroom to be cleaned and then headed out for a few hours.  When we got back nothing seemed to have changed. OK...maybe those spots are just permanent stains right? I wet a piece of toilet paper and rubbed just a tiny bit - the brown crap came right up.  Had anyone even halfheartedly run a mop over this floor it would be clean.

We asked to change rooms.

Room #2:  No brown spots on the floor here, but this room was not to be outdone in digustingness by the previous one.  The towels on the rack had long thick dark hair all up in them.  What maid is shedding enough hair that it gets wrapped all around the towels while she is folding them and hanging them up? And then what maid would leave those hairs there!?  OK, maybe we'll just get clean towels from the desk and stay in this room.  I pull down the top crappy blanket to reveal more hair - on my pillow.  And it doesn't stop there - my weird fuzzy hotel blanket has not one but two white crusty spots on it.

I can NOT sleep in that filth.

We return the the desk and she gives us keys to two more rooms for us to check before we move our stuff once more.

Room #3:  OK kids...we are in Chicago, in February, we're talking below zero here.  We open the door to this first floor room to find the window wide open and the screen leaning against the wall.  First of all it is FREEZING in this room.  Second of all it is really creepy that the window is open (who the hell in going in and out of the window?)  But it is clean in there so maybe we want this room.  We try to close the window.  It wont close.  We literally hang on the window. Nope wont budge.

so we go check out...

Room #4: The window in this room is ALSO open. WTF!? It is also frigid in this room.  This window however, will close.  It is not quite as clean as the last one in the bathroom, but we guess it will do.  Then we check the beds.  The top crappy blanket on my bed has a blood stain.  I kid you not.  It's on the under side, so maybe the maid didn't see it, and I am not going to use that gross top blanket any way so we move in.  We crank the heater in attempt to raise the temperature in the room above zero and head to bed wearing sweaters.  The heater did a pretty pathetic job of pumping any tangible kind of heat into the room - but we were screwed at this point because the front desk had closed.

Yes...the front desk closed at 11pm. We were stuck.  The girl didn't tell us that we had any kind of time limit for services...she just left.

At around 4 am our heater made a huge racket that woke us both up and then stopped all together.  We put more clothes on and got back under our puny blankets to try to sleep until morning.

They did replace out heater for the next night.

But....when they made up the beds they put that top blanket back on my bed and folded it down - leaving the period blood stain exposed right there in the middle of the blanket. OK...the maid had to see that.  Did they think "gee we should throw this blanket away and put a new one on?" nope. they just left it there to make sure that I would know I had a bloody blanket.

EW.

Oh...and the upstairs hallway smelled like there was a rotting corpse in one of the rooms.

I've been staying here for several months now, it's decent, has a kitchen and all that, and our room is pretty big, bigger than most of the other rooms, I think just due to it's location in the building. Front desk is friendly.
