I managed to disable my Mac's OS so well that I could not even get it to reinstall the software or boot to CD. It was my old Macbook and I wanted to give it to my mom, but I was cringing at the thought of what the process would be like at the Apple store. Don't get me wrong, I generally have really good luck with the service at the Apple stores, but it can be very expensive, and the process of wading through all the high school kids loitering during their field trips was more than I could bear (Pentagon City Apple Store).
So I took a flyer and googled "Washington DC Apple Repair" and up came Expert Mac Repair. I decided to investigate and their prices seemed very reasonable ($99 for many repairs, $300 for HD replacement, etc). I wound up doing a live-chat with Oliver and after a bit I decided to go with them.
He overnighted me a box, I put my Macbook in the next morning when it came, and he also had scheduled a pick up later that day, so they had it back the following day. By 11am I had an e-mail from them that they were working on it.
The next Business day I got the problem diagnosed (I screwed up the software bad) and the estimate $99 and gave them the thumbs up and paid, and I will have my Mac back tomorrow.
Throughout it all, they were helpful, friendly and responsive. I will not hesitate to go to them again. In fact, the unease I had knowing my wife's Macbook was out of warranty is gone now knowing there are there, and fix things well and for a very fair price. Honestly, I don't think it was fair to them given they picked up the overnight shipping costs 3 times for this repair.
If you are unsure or hesitating, don't. The service provided is top notch. -

It does not get better than Expert Mac Repair when you're in need of help. My 2010 MacBook Pro needed a new logic board and possibly more work. The quote from the Apple Store was pretty steep; EMR was able to do it for less than half the price (and 10x more pleasant and professional about it). Furthermore, they did it in less the time than it would have taken Apple, even during the holidays. Needless to say I'm beyond impressed with their work, I'll be going to them first should I have any other issues, and recommend that everyone else in need of help with their Apple products do the same.

Recommendation: Use them.
Based on my limited experienced, quite simply the go-to place for Mac repairs in the DC area. They have a small basement spot that is hard to find so keep your eyes open. -

Like most reviewers, I spilled water on my MacBook (nice one), went to the Apple store and got an astronomical estimate for repairs, and found Mac Repair (aka Oliver) on Yelp. I don't know if MacRepair is a one-man shop or a whole cadre of IT engineers, but whatever their system, it seems to work well. Oliver was very responsive via email/phone, kept me posted on progress and even followed up to make sure everything was OK. My MacBook was perfectly restored with a new back lit keyboard. The cost was around $450 (not sure how the July reviewer got $260).

I recently had trouble with my 2008 IMac and thought all was lost. My hard drive was slowly dying and I had three options to repair it. Either I could (1) do it myself, (2) send it to Apple, or (3) find some local third party repair company to help me. I am so glad I chose number three and found Expert Mac Repair.
Oliver and company provides great same day (WEEKEND) service for your troubled Mac needs. Their prices are more than competitive; they are a steal for the service provided.
Oliver was able to correspond with me on a Saturday night and be at my house in Fairlington, VA by Sunday afternoon. He quoted me a fair price for a new hard drive and guaranteed his work for 90 days. He arrived at my home on time and within 1 hour he finished the repair that would have taken days if I dropped it off at Apple.
I would recommended Expert Mac Repair to anyone who is in need of Apple help and is thinking about sending your computer to the Apple Store. Be free of Apple's prices and long turnarounds.

Great service and beyond... AND AVAILABLE ON THE WEEKENDS!
I spilled some vanilla extract (a small amount) on a corner of my keyboard and the keyboard still typed but was incorrect with the actual letters intended. Oh yes, I have a 2007 MacBook if that helps.
I worked with Oliver... very professional. I was kind of weirded out because we had to meet somewhere or he would come to my home (very convenient, but an extra charge if you live outside of a certain area). Opted to meet him and he repaired my computer in 10 minutes... AND he repaired a cracked spot on my computer, AND he cleaned my nasty computer.
Paid 99 bucks plus tax (this price is because my computer injury was minor compared to some other liquid spills). Very awesome.
It's also amazing to see how savvy he works on a Mac... hot keys and stuff.
Would recommend to everyone. -

After 7 years of faithful and dedicated service, my trusty 17" PowerBook suffers a mechanical malfunction and is critically injured. Being somewhat of a self-proclaimed Mac technician myself, I try and treat and repair the laptop myself but all seems too complicated and hopeless. That is, until I found Expert Mac Repair in Arlington, VA.
I searched online and found Expert Mac Repair among others in the local area. I requested quotes from a few (including the Apple Store) and they came in at the most inexpensive. In fact, another independent local shop quoted me a price that was almost double... for the same services... and that included a 10% first-time customer discount... and it would take about a week to perform the job, test it and release it for pick-up.
Needless to say, I set up an appointment with Expert Mac Repair. Most of the work is performed onsite at your home or other location. Oliver (the technician) arrived promptly. He was friendly, professional and knowledgeable on all things Mac, which put me at ease and made me feel comfortable. I authorized him to rebuild my ruined PowerBook using state-of-the-art bionic parts. He set up his portable workstation in hopes of giving the ol' PowerBook a new lease on life.
Shortly after his work began, Oliver realized that he had brought the wrong model of HD for my Mac. He apologized, took ownership of the issue and continued with the other repairs, which took about 45 minutes. To ensure the problem was resolved, he said that he would take my laptop with him and have the new HD installed and all my data transferred by 10AM the next morning. And he did just that.
Thanks to Expert Mac Repair, my PowerBook now runs better than i was before before. Better. Stronger. Faster. -

Boy was i glad to randomly stumble upon this place while googling. I emailed them about my water damaged macbook pro, but never got a response. Then i called three or four times before someone actually picked up my call, but not complaining since they did an excellent job on fixing my laptop. I live all the way across the country from them, and was really skeptical about shipping my computer all the way across the country, but I was too attracted to how much cheaper the price to repair my mac was than the ridiculous repair price that apple has. Loved how they took care of shipping. The turnaround time was pretty quick, it took about a week and a half for me to get my comp back. Oh yeah, and they only charged me after they had completed the repair. I highly recommend these guys to anyone who has Mac problems.

Expert Mac Repair provided me with the best costumer service I have ever had in technology that I can remember.
After accidentally spilling coffee into my macbook pro I sent it to Expert Mac Repairs to bring it back to life. They did just that by rebuilding the logic board, replacing the keyboard, track pad and unibody for less than half of what Apple charges for the same repairs. What is even better is that since they are certified by Apple, my mac's warranty was reinstated.
EMR kept it in constant contact with me in regards to my computer and went above and beyond. I'd recommend them to anyone with mac woes as the best option for repair in the country. -

Dropped my MacBook Pro off at their Basecamp on Fri, picked is up on Sat. with a new logic board and it went from being a 2.4Ghz to a 2.5Ghz. The cost of replacing the logic board was about half of what Apple wanted when I talked to a "Genius." Very fast, very efficient and great communication along the way. As a working professional photographer, being with out my computer for any length of time was not an option.

As an intern and student in DC for the summer, I was in desperate need of a working computer, so when my MacBook stopped working, I considered it an emergency.
I saw the reviews before calling Expert Mac Repair, so I expected great things and an affordable price, and my hopes were confirmed -- this was the best service I could have asked for!
I spilled some wine on my Mac, and the touchpad and keyboard were not working. Oliver replaced the keyboard and touchpad for me, even replacing the outer frame of my mac and polishing it at no charge! Everything looks as good as new, and for a truly unbeatable price.
I love the personalized business style, and the fact that they came to me and I did not have to leave my mac at a store and wait several days to go pick it up again. In fact, I had my mac fixed and working the same day that I called, and the entire process only took about 30 minutes. Nice guys, great service... I could not recommend more highly! -

The folks at Expert Mac Repair resurrected my dead MacBook Pro (underwent a severe water spill while I was moving), and for about $200 less than what Apple wanted for the exact same repair. The techs were responsive, polite and provided top-notch service and went above and beyond my expectations. I just got my laptop back today and it looks good as new. All my applications, settings and files are where they should be, and everything is completely awesome. When they made an error about when two-day shipping would arrive, they made it up to me by overnighting the Mac to me, so it's just got back this morning. Awesome guys, all around, and I would heartily recommend them for warranty Mac repairs.

My hard drive on my 17-inch PowerPC 1.67Ghz Powerbook died, and I called Expert Mac Repair on a Monday and discussed my problem over the phone with Oliver. He was extremely knowledgeable about the issue and explained to me that he would run a few diagnostics just to verify that indeed was the case. He quoted me a very reasonable price and we agreed to meet in DC at 5:30 pm that afternoon to test out the laptop. He was right on time, he ran the diagnostics, filled out a bit of paperwork and promised to return my laptop with a new hard drive, Operating System installed, at 8 am the next morning. He was able to answer several of my high-end questions with ease and in a friendly, non-condescending manner. Being that this laptop was almost 5 years old, it was reassuring to know that Expert Mac Repair would still be able to resurrect it.
Sure enough, the following morning, he arrived on time with the laptop in hand, and booted it up to my satisfaction. He went over a few more things in detail, answered my remaining questions, and took payment for the service. At no time did I feel rushed. The transaction was smooth, the service was excellent, and the work was guaranteed. I couldn't be happier with the fast turn-around time.
I'm the kind of person that prides myself on being able to handle most software issues, and a few hardware issues now and then. When the $%&* hits the fan, however, I feel confident in returning to Oliver and Expert Mac Repair for help and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to service/upgrade their Mac. -

Oliver rocks!!! Got my MacBook back up and running in less than an hour! The Apple store told me it was going to be almost $800 to fix my MacBook. I thought I was going to end up buying a new one. Enter Oliver of Expert Mac Repair; not only did he fix my MacBook but it was very reasonable as well!!!! If I ever need any Apple related repair, Expert Mac Repair has my business from now on!!!
