A great hotel for the value...be sure to check out http://sanjose.com to get the best rates! Room was clean and well-maintained, and the jacuzzi was nice and big and comes with most standard rooms. This is honestly the best price I've ever found for any kind of jacuzzi room. The bed was clean and comfortable, and the grounds were nice. Location is good, just far enough off the main part of downtown such that noise is not a problem.
Other amenities, and their drawbacks:
Free movies. They have a limited selection in their lobby, not all of which are ones you might want to watch, but it doesn't cost extra to check one out, unlike other hotels that impose a surcharge or ask for a deposit. The downside: they take the movie out of the case and hand it to you. So you have to take the bare DVD or VHS tape up to your room, and be extra-careful not to damage it along the way.
Washer & Dryer: They have one that guests can use for free, if you care to bring your laundry along. The downside: you're not supposed to use it after 10pm.
Continental Breakfast: Very basic fare, a few cereals, pancakes, biscuit, sausage, and a couple of juices...everything quite obviously frozen and thawed or pre-packaged. This is ok if you're not too picky on quality and want something fast. And the dining area is very small, only about 10 seats. Served only from 6:30-9, which was a bit early for us.
Service: Staff was friendly at the front desk. Problem: around 10pm, we called the front desk to ask for extra pillows and towels. Their reply was that they could not provide them since only one person was on shift and was not allowed to leave the desk; we would have to go down and get them ourselves. We were tired and opted not to do so.
But the biggest drawback that kept my rating down was, get this: the curtains! They were too long, seriously. The problem was that the air conditioner vent is placed right below the window, and the curtains are floor-length, which is really dumb. Our room was a bit on the warm side when we arrived, so we wanted air.
But, if you want air, you have to keep the curtains open, because otherwise all the air blows up into the space behind the curtains and none of it gets into the room. So if you want to cool the room, you need to leave the curtains wide open to free the vent (where anyone can walk by the window and see into your room doing whatever), or else suffer. They could easily solve this problem by cutting off a couple feet from the bottom of the curtains to make them window-length and end above the cooler, which would still provide privacy yet allow the air to circulate.
Other than that, very clean and comfortable...serviceable for a night or weekend stay.
A great place to stay if your in Morgan Hill. The room we stayed in was newly remolded, and had: a fridge, large bath tub and flat screen TV. Clean, super spacious and even comes with a full continental breakfast.
Totally worth the visit and the price!
