For $66 a night this place can't be beat. I found it on http://hotwire.com (didn't actually know it was going to be this hotel until I clicked buy) and I was amazed at how nice it was consider the cost and the location. It is right in the middle of everything, really close to Union Square.

When we first got there they guy offered us a free glass of wine (complementary tastings between 4-6 pm). The room was small but for just me it was great. New flat screen tv even.

The hotel is old, but has been updated. The only thing I thought was weird was how much noise the toilet made when I flushed.

Overall great value and I will definitely stay again.

I stayed here for a special occasion a few months ago. It was a last minute thing on a busy SF weekend so this was one of the only hotels left on Expedia. The rate I got was around $150 so I didn't expect it to be as nice as it was. The room was very pretty and very comfortable. The linens were nice, the space in the room was pretty good, they had a nice little mini bar and a cute little bathroom. We were within walking distance of Belden Place, which is a little alleyway lined with restaurants- wayyyy to cute to pass up. The hotel does have its own restaurant, but I did not eat there. There is a parking garage located across the street and about a block down so you have to hike uphill with your luggage. The parking fee is around $35 per night.
I feel like this hotel does not try too hard, its cute and charming and the perfect place for a casual stay in SF.

My experience at Hotel Vintage Court was nothing short of exceptional!

I travel a lot between LA and San Fransisco for work and I know the hotels around the area very well. Hotel Vintage Court is certainly the best value.

The rooms are spacious, well kept, and full of character. The house-staff is very friendly.

I don't know if it is the shower heads or the water pressure, but it's the best shower I've had in a long time! And even the soap has little exfoliating beads on it.

There are nightly wine tastings (pretty sure it's nighly) and there are plenty of local and international visitors to mingle with. From all over the world! Although I was there on business, this hotel would be a wine tasters delight! (Actually perfect. You could stay and enjoy the unique San Fran experience and then take a short beautiful ride into wine country. When I lived in the city this was one of my favorite things to do).

I'm just happy I can stop shopping around for hotels for my biz trips. Hotel Vintage Court is a cut above the rest.

Visiting from New Jersey this was my second time staying in the warm, quite, and cozy hotel. With reasonable rates, mini bar, flat screen tv, with great channels from vh1, E!, MTV, FX I'm sure you get this picture lol. I would recommend this place to anyone the free wine tasting in the lobby everyday from 5-6pm is an perfect way to relax meet and greet... Two Thumbs Up!

Hotel vintage court is a value for the price. The rooms are small but comfortable.  There is a mini bar, iron, and a shower. Everything you need. There could be a lot more to this hotel but what they have going is working fine. The elevator can get crowded, it's old so only 7 people are allowed on at a time.
The breakfast in the morning consists of muffins, and danishes. There is a wine pouring in the evening.
The hotel is in walking distance of many destinations. Although this is not the party part of town we managed to find some local hangouts that served us well.
The only negative thing about staying here is that the windows aren't very "sound proof" and the garbage trucks at 3:00 aren't very pleasant. Maybe everyone in SF has to deal with this but It was pretty loud.

When my father and his wife came to SF from Italy for eight days in August, I needed to find a place for them to stay which was nice, comfortable, and reasonably priced. That way they didn't have to eat ramen for the eight days they were here. I found the Executive on http://hotels.com at a phenomenal rate ($120 pernight), and I had to go make sure it wasn't gross with that cheap price! I was thrilled to see that its a lovely hotel just perfect for traveling parents who are used to good service, clean spaces, comfortable central areas and affordable cost.

It's not luxury by any means, and the rooms are small, but it's perfect for the purpose I needed. My father and stepmother were extremely happy there for eight nights, they met some great friends and really enjoyed the hotel. They also have a complementary wine tasting happy hour every evening for guests, which was also where my parents met some fun people they exchanged info with. It's close to all the major sites and public transportation, you can easily take muni across the city or the cable car north/south.

My parents had a great stay and I think largely in part to the Executive!

This hotel had an excellent location, with pretty much everything you could need within walking distance. Their parking garage was only a block away so that was convenient. The staff was very friendly, but my only slight problem was with the rooms. They had an old school radiator style heater, and while it matched all the decor and looked cool, it didn't work. Or at least I couldn't feel it working. I heard other guests complaining about this too. But after a few drinks I couldn't feel the cold. Our room wasn't the best location, our window was facing the garbage bins outside and kept us up for a while, but inside the room was very nice. Bathroom was good, the bedroom was just the right size, and the whole place had nice decorations. From what I understood they have wine tasting at night, and breakfast in the morning, but we missed both.

I was very impressed with this hotel, considering what we paid.  While it's not a "luxury" hotel, it is a great find: reasonably priced and conveniently located.  I didn't notice that it was noisy at all, and really appreciated being so close to the Union Square stores, restaurants, and many other tourist locations.
The rooms are clean and the staff is friendly and helpful.  Also, as mentioned before, the afternoon wine tasting is a nice bonus.

Great location; walk to Chinatown, Union Square, etc.  One of the cable car stops is on the corner of the hotel.  Several good restaurants are within 2 blocks of the hotel, and hundreds in Chinatown.   With all taxes, etc. a little over $100 a night avg. through Expedia.  Not a luxury hotel, but I don't need room service...

Free wine every afternoon, free continental breakfast.  Meet a great mix of people from all over the world.

Masa's restaurant is located here.  Top rated by Zagat and everyone else, but be prepared to drop at least $200/pp if you want wine with each course. See review, or Google if interested...

I booked this through http://Quikbook.com, and was reasonably happy with it. At Bush and Powell,  is centrally located as can be. Getting to Union Square is as easy as falling downhill, and Sears Fine Foods is all but adjacent.

This completely non-smoking  hotel is old but well maintained. The rooms are inexpensive, largely clean, and have a lived-in charm that can only come from buildings that have not been remodeled to death every ten years. I enjoyed that the windows fully opened, and rather than full-dark curtains, the room sported wooden venetian blinds.

Probably the only downsides were the incredibly, glacially slow single elevator, and the hotel-wide wireless internet connection being a for-pay, subscription-based outsource provided one.

Oh, one side note that really won me over; when I was having trouble locating an available rental car, the doorman actually called a bunch of places for me, without telling me. When he found one with an available car, he let me know. It was very considerate and helpful.

The hotel hosts a wine reception in the evenings, which my schedule did not allow me to attend.

The Executive Hotel Vintage Court has a clunky name, but everything else about the hotel is straightforward and comfortable.  To my mind, it is an ideal hotel for the budget-minded who don't need a lot of frills and want a central base for exploring some of the most colorful neighborhoods of San Francisco.

Situated in Nob Hill, the hotel is within walking or trolley distance of Union Square, Chinatown, North Beach, and Russian Hill.  Union Square and Chinatown are particularly short walks away.  And as you're bound to hear clearly from your room, the trolley stops regularly just across the street.  The hotel staff were all personable and very helpful in recommending offbeat restaurants and interesting day trips.  They also proved extremely liberal with their servings at the daily early-evening wine tastings ("really, you must have a third glass"), contributing greatly to my pre-dinner amusement level each night.

If you don't mind smallish rooms and throw pillows reminiscent of felt spaceships, I think you will be thoroughly happy here, not to mention perhaps a little drunk by 5 in the afternoon.

i was basically happy with our stay here. the people there were very helpful to us and even drew us maps when we needed them. the things i did not like was that we were only put on the 2ND floor, so it was very loud, plus our window did not shut all the way or open all the way. also there is a sizable hill you have to walk up to get to the hotel, which wasn't that big of a deal to me, but one of my friends just hated it. overall i was happy with the hotel and it was relatively nice.

my general advice is to not stay at a hotel on the busiest streets in union square.  i wasn't thrilled about staying here, my first choice hotel was booked, as was almost every hotel in the city for the weekend of our friend's wedding.  i cannot honestly say though that my stay was awful either.
our room was clean and spacious, though the bathroom was tiny (if you are slightly overweight or larger than a size 10-good luck using the bathroom).  we had a good laugh about the "just add water" sleep-aid shake they offered in the room; however, you may find it a necessity .  i am such a heavy sleeper that a jet airliner could crash into the room and i wouldn't even hear it but i had a very difficult time sleeping through the road noise.  after 5+ glasses of champagne, not only was there road noise, i could clearly make-out the conversations of the garbage men (starting at 3am on monday morning).
the lobby is really nice and the staff is super helpful.  the parking is very expensive, for less than 24 hours, i was charged $41 for valet, which your car is parked in a garage located about a block and a half away.  it's too bad we couldn't take advantage of the complementary wine afternoon wine service in the lobby.  i suggest getting breakfast elsewhere, probably the worst continental breakfast i have had to date.  my friend had her birthday dinner at masa's, the restaurant connected to the hotel and loved it.  she took home one of the "turkish delights-like" goodies to share with me the next day- oh yum.
given that our stay was about $150/night, definitely a discount from their regular rate, i suppose we did get a good deal with our stay here.
