Coming from S Factor, at first I wasn't really a fan of this place. (I'm still unsure of how I feel about their pole classes.) While the teachers are super nice and helpful (not to mention TALENTED!), I'm not a fan of pole dancing with mirrors and/or big windows (tinted or not). It makes me feel a bit more on the spot instead of being able to lose myself in the movement. This is just my preference.

That being said, I've taken some other classes here: Cardio Kickboxing (which I don't think they have anymore), Stiletto Bootcamp, Fantasy Floorwork & another dance class (I forget the name of it). I've really liked ALL of them. They were all challenging in their own ways and offered a variety of moves/workouts to keep me on my toes - as well as sweaty and sore (the good kind).

The teachers have been super nice (one even remembered me after taking ONE class, almost a year ago!) and helpful. Also, I've never had problems finding parking (usually on a side street nearby).

I definitely recommend this place, and I will most likely give their pole classes another shot, now that I know what to expect. :)

i went there w/ my bf last yr for one of their recitals; it was fun!
gave a $20 donation in exchg for fake $ to throw to the instructor/student performers if we really liked their performances

    PROS: spacious & clean
    CONS:
-a bit hard to find (it's a hole in the wall, small outside sign where you walk upstairs)
-vibe wasn't that inviting to be honest; at times, seemed arrogant & clickish (like we're back in h/s -_- )
-parking (there's only street; i forget if there's meters like Allure, which's down the street); we actually had to park @ VONS

I dance at another studio, which I enjoy very much--nothing against Evolve, I just already have somewhere to dance that I love so while I may join in for Brazilian Samba or an Silks/Hoops class, I probably won't pole dance there.

    ANYWAY

This review isn't about the dance studio so much as the awesome customer service, and friendly staff. On a whim I went to said other studio to FINALLY pick up dance shoes. Low and behold, I walk six blocks in the freezing cold in a sort of sketchy part of West LA, and the other studio is CLOSED for the night. Irritated, I kept walking, knowing that Evolve was also in the area.

Anyway, I found a pair of shoes that I adored, bought them, got them home...and within one hour had managed to rip a strap off just putting them on. My first reaction was ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!???!!! Of all the stupid luck, so I'm sitting there, with my first pair of (now trashed) dance shoes, freaking out.

Composing myself I call the studio and get Lani (sorry if I just butchered your name). She was very understanding of the situation, if a bit surprised -- I'm not a freaky Hulk person, I swear! I was kind of expecting some shady "sorry, no exchanges :D" policy, since I don't dance there; but they came through like champs with a "no problem, bring them back tomorrow."

Evolve, while I may not dance with you, I respect and appreciate that you care about your clientele and prospective clientele. Only minus one star because...well the shoe /broke/, and kinda shook my determination to (after six months of dancing and moving into intermediate level) finally GET shoes.

Went to Evolve for the Into to Pole Dance class for first time last week. Pole dancing was definitely a great workout. Emily was a great instructor, and extremely friendly. She made everything look easy, and catered the class to the group, but she made sure to give individual instructions to everyone as well.

We started out with a good warm-up, and then moved into basic walking and beginner spins.

The only problem was that there wasn't as much space as I would've liked, and I had to share the pole with other people. Being that it was a Sunday, this is understandable. I will definitely go back!

Omg, I can't move. My muscles seriously got the most intense workout with Jamayka. I asked for it though. Told her that my inverts rely a lot on kicking my leg up to hook around the pole rather than relying on my muscle strength. So Jamayka had me do lots of strength conditioning so I can build arm and ab muscles.

The class I attended only had 4 students - one for each pole. There was no specific class agenda which may be a turn off for some but I actually liked it because we all had different levels of experience with the pole. So at the beginning of the class, Jamayka asked each one of us what we would like to work on. She would spend some time with each student to work on a specific trick, then let you practice on your own while she rotated around to the other students. It was like a semi-private lesson.

I was impressed by the studio space alone. I would actually rank Evolve as one of the top designed pole dance studios out of the ones I've been to. Located on the second floor, four shorter poles on one side of the room and four taller poles on the other side. Lounge area in the middle while you wait for classes to start. Lots of natural light coming in from the large tinted window (so perverted passerby's can't see you spinning around on a pole.)

I also had the opportunity to take a Bellydance class. Fun workout for the abs! Shimmy shimmy shimmy :D

I would like to come back and take more pole classes here. Prices are pretty competitive and I LOVE their studio space!

Please read my previous review as it has remained unchanged - this update has the stuff I've taken at Evolve.

I love this studio. I've been coming here for a while... and I don't live that close.

    CLASSES I HAVE TAKEN:
    Pole Conditioning
    Fantasy Floor Work
Pole Dancing (Pepa, Ann Marie, Fonta)
    Sexy Fit
    Stilettography
    Bikini Fit

POLE DANCING: with Ann Marie Davies & Peppa Pou
I started taking AnnMarie's classes again, so this is detailing Monday's Pole Conditioning, Fantasy Floorwork and Pole Dancing with AnnMarie.

Ann Marie is a true professional. She has been doing pole and dancing for nine years and so you know you'll learn something from her. She is tough. A REAL tough cookie and sometimes yes, I am scared of her, but I know she's like that because she's trying to get the best out of you.

Peppa is the Dance Hall Queen and it is amazing that she has only been pole dancing for 1.5 years. She's been dancing for several years already but pole dancing - you'd be amaze to learn only 1.5 years. She is very helpful and will spot you at any time. Very patient.

I've been taking Peppa's pole class for several months (but now Peppa isn't teaching on Thursday at the time I'm there AND Mondays are freeing up for me) so I will try to take Ann Marie's class more often... and Peppa is really gentle with teaching me (and I love it) and teaches me step by step (like riding a bicycle). Ann Marie kicks my butt (in a good way) and really just tells you to do it. She told me the best way to learn is to just do it. So I did a semi-head stand (scary) and yes I need to practice (and I will) but she pushes you to do it and try it over and over, which is really helpful for me because I'm a scaredy-cat. It's kinda nice to have two different teaching styles teaching me.

FANTASY FLOOR WORK with Ann Marie Davies
Please bring Stilettos to this class.
Be prepared to do moves SHY girls are uncomfortable with. You learn the things pole dancers/strippers do when they're not on the pole. You learn to crawl, get up, get down, roll over, spread eagle, go up and down the pole without getting on the pole, whip your hair, walk, etc. You really need to be comfortable with feeling sexy. Be prepared to get some floor burns (from crawling) - so I wear leggings or pants.

POLE CONDITIONING with Ann Marie Davies
Boot camp for pole dancers... be prepared to do A LOT of abs and upper body and just prepping to be on the pole.
Very good workout. Will add more detail later.

    SEXY FIT with Nicole Rush
Nicole is an amazing teacher. I'm addicted to her classes. She has an amazing body and it's inspirational. I go to her Thursday and Friday classes and her bootcamp in another studio. Yes, she is THAT good.

    Boot camp on stilettos
The first half of the class - you wear sneakers. Then you do some cardio and muscle workout. You tone your arms, butt, legs (omg), abs (more omg), shoulders, etc. You just get a full workout. Many people will sweat. Half an hour of working out in sneakers, then we workout in Stilettos (you can wear short heels if you're uncomfy). We do some workouts with the stilettos on and then... we do Across the floor... which is dance moves across the floor that Nicole teaches. Then you learn a quick dance routine. Very fun. Very Beyonce.

    BIKINI FIT with Nicole Rush
A shorter but STILL intense version of Sexy Fit. I did the abs routine and honestly - I work out a LOT - I was sore for two days. It could be a mixture of the other workouts as well, but it was my abs section.
You'll def be ready for a bikini body with this workout.

    STILETTOGRAPHY with Nicole Rush
If you love choreography... this is the class for you. She does a quick warm up and mini-sexy fit workout, but most of the time is Across the Floor (which is associated with the routine) and then a choreo piece. So fun. I love dancing and on stilettos it can be challenging, but you really feel sexy and grooving with this workout.

    SERVICE
Lani and Mary - daughter/mother team - so sweet. I love talking to them and if you go often, they will remember your name. Very cute family run dance studio. :D

This place does have good deals as well, so check the website often.

I've been doing pole for about 2 years, but at a studio that is much more dance-focused rather than pole-focused. For that reason, I decided to branch out to another studio to improve my skills and strength. Evolve was the first studio I tried other than my regular one.

The class I attended was Intermediate/Advanced pole dance with Peppa.

Atmosphere: Very nice and clean. Also very bright! I'm accustomed to a dark candle-lit studio so this was unnerving. There are floor to ceiling windows and skylights. The only thing i did not like about this was the studio, while being on the second floor, was visible from the street. Not good if modesty is important.

Teacher: Average. She was very knowledgeable but didn't seem like she wanted to be there. There was no curriculum for the class session, she would walk around and ask what you wanted to work on. I learned a trick or two.
I did think it was odd though that she went and got a "crash mat" to put under me when I asked her to spot me in place of spotting me. This made me very uncomfortable. The reason I practice in an instructor-led setting is to make sure I'm safe. I heard at the end of class that she was hesitant to spot because she is recently pregnant. I understand her reluctance, but do not feel like spotting and safety are things that can be done without.

Poles: OK. There were two areas of 4 poles each. In the area I was in (near the windows) had 2 regular width poles and two skinny poles. I got stuck on a skinny pole. I don't understand the use of a skinny pole and didn't feel the need to learn on one. The poles are spin-able too.

Location: again, OK. My class was at 12:15 and i got there early, and the door to the street was locked until like 12:10, so you have to wait on the busy sidewalk for class. Not too comfortable, but whatever.

Price: Pretty good. Much cheaper than my old studio. However, all you get for the money is a place to play on the pole, and instruction on particular tricks if you ask for it. Not enough for me personally.
It was my first time there and according to their website a single class is $25, so I paid that. As I was leaving i picked up a pamphlet about their classes and a first-time student price is listed as $20, yet I was not told about this when i offered up the $25. Interesting.

Overall, I have found another studio that is down the street (Allure) that I like much better.

I have been taking classes at Evolve for about 4.5 months and I LOVE it.  I have mostly taken pole dance classes, but have also tried a few fitness classes.  The facility is the best I have seen (and I have been to 3 other pole studios).  All of the instructors are highly skilled, professional, and committed to helping you develop your skills.  Lani, the owner, has always been responsive, professional, and fair with billing and scheduling issues.

My advice for getting the most out of your experience at Evolve: Commit to at least 5-8 classes.  Pole is very challenging and many people struggle at first.  Be on time, because the classes do start on time, and the warm up is very important in building the strength & flexibility you need for dancing.  Try different classes and instructors to find the best fit.  I have seen some negative comments here about an instructor that is my favorite.  The teacher / student relationship is personal.  Everyone has different preferences.  Most important: work hard, stay focused, and keep practicing.

If you are serious about dancing, this is the best choice.  I started out with a serious lack of coordination and flexibility and I have truly evolved into a dancer!

Evolve Dance Studio is a gorgeous studio that I personally frequent about 5 times a week! What I love about Evolve is the well rounded education in dance and fitness that you receive. From pole dance, floor work and sensual movement, to zumba and brazillain dance, and even hoop classes! The teachers are fantastic and the studio is kept beautiful and clean. Class times in the evenings and weekend are extremely convenient for those with full time day jobs. I highly recommend you try a class there. You'll get a great work out without even realizing it! But be warned - its addicting! :)

Learning how to pole dance has been on my bucket list for awhile, so I picked up the Groupon (3 fitness/dance class + 2 pole dance class) to see what the hype was all about.

1st time: 2 classes with my sister
    - Dance Hall Cardio with Peppa Pou: Pretty intense workout, she keeps you moving at least 45+ minutes out of the 60. You will sweat, shake your booty, and be sore the next day.

    - Intro/Beg Pole Dance with AnneMarie: AnneMarie is most definitely a toughie & I would not recommend taking your first class with her because she's not that encouraging. Also, even though it was suppose to be an Intro/Beg class, there were mostly students there who have obviously took a lot of classes before & knew how to do some of the complicated tricks. Our class got split in half, and she really didn't spend that much time with us. Did learn 2 spins & how to "walk around" the pole. She is very good at what she does, so maybe take her for something more advanced. I seriously felt like it was a waste of time after taking this "intro" class with her because I don't think the studio class policy set up is encouraging for super newbies. (I did notice that afterward, Evolve has a new policy not allowing adv beg/intermed students take intro classes)

...after those two classes, I was ready to hang up my pole dancing aspirations, but being Chinese & having paid for the package already, I dragged my butt out again to Culver City to take two more today.
    - Bollywood Dance: This class was really really fun! The moves are a little complicated & the instructor goes a little bit fast at times, but it gets your whole body moving for a good workout.

    - Intro Pole Dance with Emily: I love Emily!!! She was so sweet, patient and encouraging. Learned mostly introductory moves such as pivoting around the pole, back bends, "sexy push ups" & "sexy stand". I felt that this was a GREAT introductory class which focused on the basics & gave enough individualized attention to newbie students.

About the studio/other technical funstuff: I really liked their easy online registration process, the studio is really clean, and there is plenty of street parking. The studio is easy to miss, so keep your eyes peeled for it. Weekend classes get filled up quick, so be sure to register at least 2-3 wks in advance to get the class you want.

Overall: After my 1st experience, I would've rated this 2.5-3 stars, call it a day. But I really did enjoy my time the second time around. Probably won't be back mostly because of distance so I'll have to look for a studio closer to me to continue my pole dancing education.

I purchased the Groupon 2 pole classes, 3 regular classes excluding Aerial Hoop.

What a fun little place to get your stripper on! I was a little confused as to why the pole was so sticky. It was quite a workout though! I really give those girls credit cuz it's not as easy as it seems. My girlfriends and I left with bruises and soreness the same day! We had Emily both time and she was great! Patient and helpful.

Bollywood is an amazing workout too! I was sore for probably about 4-5 days all over, back, thighs, and calves and while I don't workout regularly, I have at least gone to the gym once a week for the past two months. Whew! But hey, if I can catch on and look like our instructor with her Miss Janet abs, I'd Bollywood all the time!!!  The steps weren't necessarily hard, just fast and sometimes so fast you didn't have enough time to catch up. It's still a great way to break a sweat, even if you're doing it all wrong. LOL

As a rule, I don't write reviews for dance studios, for a lot of reasons. However, I have a lot of good things to say about Evolve and my own evolution since I started dancing there eight or nine months ago.

When anyone asks where I dance, I pretty much always tell them at Evolve, on Pico and Fairfax. There are a lot of things I love about Evolve--be it from the affordability of classes (check out their specials and the attractive, capacious studio at http://evolvedancestud...!) to getting a good amount of my own space. Classes have limited enrollment capacity from eight to 15, depending on type.

I'm not really a bad person, I just don't like having to share a dance space; I take myself and my dancing seriously--maybe too seriously at times, but it can really be frustrating and uncomfortable to have to share too much of my space. When I have my own spot without anyone crowding in, it really allows me to focus on my own breath and what I'm doing.

Of course I have my preferences of instructors to help me with what it is I'm doing, but I'm not going to air that here, I believe it has to do with personal preference, like your favorite truffle in a box of Godiva. Message me if you need to talk about it. What I can tell you though, is that I have learned so much and gotten so strong!

There really is something for everyone here, from flexibility training to cardio classes to pole dancing classes. There are 45mm poles, 50mm, tall poles and shorter ones, as well as spinning pole options. Most classes include a stretching warm-up and the studio is totally air-conditioned so when you're working hard, you don't get too slippery.

Evolve features professional dancers as instructors, many with years (some even a dozen+) of experience--the studio offers a variety of classes for all schedules and I take full advantage of that and hope to for many years to come, so do many other regulars there. Embrace, empower, evolve.

I have been attending Evolve for over 9 months now  (Pole dancing for 1.5 years) and I thought it was time to give them a review. My review will be based on the classes that I have taken, as well as their facilities and customer service.

    FACILITIES:

I was talking with a friend about this place and she stated a perfect word that describes Evolve. She said it feels like you are at the spa. So true but with a erotic touch. I really love the ambiance of Evolve's Studio. When you walk in you automatically smell candle scent in the air. It's quite blissful. They have really great lighting which helps set an erotic mood (especially for floorwork and sensual movement class). Lani (the owner) always has complimentary ice water with lemons, cucumbers and oranges. So divine! And once in a while they have little treats such as mini cat cookies or chocolate covered almonds/raisins. How thoughtful! Also I want to mention their floors. Lol. I always tell people how much I absolutely LOVE their hardwood floors. Especially when I am slithering along the floor dancing. They feel amazing! Inside décor is very gorgeous and modern. Place is very clean and well maintained.

    SERVICE:

Their customer service is excellent. Every time I enter the studio Lani always greets me kindly. When I have an issue with my account, Lani always gets back to me in a timely manner when I email her. And always makes adjustments immediately. I really appreciate it the good service.

    CLASSES:

    Fantasy Floor Work (Annemarie Davies):
    Sensual Movements (Annemarie Davies):

My floorwork has improved immensely since taking her class. AM has great style and has been doing this for a long time. She teaches you how to be fluid, tap into your inner alter ego, and always keeps the class moving. I have not seen a class like this in LA yet. I look forward to AM's classes every week. I love that I can just let go and not be judged and every time I leave I feeling sexy and very empowered. Very theraputic. Probably better than going to a therapist. lol.

    Pole Dancing (Annemarie Davies):
AM is a very good pole dance teacher and an amazing pole dancer I might add. She explains/breaks down a spin or a trick very thoroughly. She will let you know if you are doing a move incorrectly and tell you how to fix it. Excellent. I value that. These are signs of a good teacher. She has alot of passion for pole and I think that is really important for every teacher to have that drive.

Overall my experience with Evolve has been pleasant and positive. I highly recommend you try out their facilities.

Like a bazillion other people, I bought the Groupon deal for 2 pole + 3 dance/fitness classes for $35.

    Here's the 5 that I took + my 2 cents.

    * Sensual Movement ~ Annmarie Davis
Awesome first class to take! It starts out with stretches on the floor (in heels!) + instruction on general movements like hip circles before the pace quickly picks up with choreographed routines across the floor.  Don't forget to wear stilettos! Not only will Annmarie check that you have the right kind of heels, but wearing them will make you feel that much more invigorated while strutting, touching yourself + gyrating your way around the studio. Don't let Annmarie's outspoken + raw nature get to you as she shouts things like, "Yesss, this is slut music!" or "I require you to touch your boobs!" There's girls in the class of all shapes + sizes who having been taking it for months or years so watching them easily dispels any shyness about getting out there + showing what you've got. Be prepared to flaunt it during a freestyle round at the end. I left this class feeling amazingly energized. And yes, some girls really do wear lingerie... or have stripped down to it by the end of class.  ;)

    * Beginner/Intermediate Pole ~ Annmarie
Having been a dancer for most of my life + taken a pole class before, I figured that I would be able to catch on at this level rather than starting off at the Intro level since that class description made it seem very too elementary. I called in to ask, + the receptionist confirmed that she thought I would be fine, too. I guess I was both right + wrong. After stretches, my friend + I realized that we were the only true beginners in the class of 8 as the other 6 had a good grasp of not only spins but also climbs + some inversions. Annmarie straight up said she wasn't going to baby us, showed a couple spins + then left us to practice on our own. I'd say we definitely spent most of our time watching the others (4 advanced girls on the other side + 2 intermediate girls next to us) + trying to imitate what we deemed feasible than actually receiving any critique or instruction. While Annemarie is amazingly talented on the pole, her teaching style for a class like this just wasn't for me.

    * SexyFit - Stiletto Fit ~ Nicole Rush
Imagine doing squats in heels... + then bicycle crunches, push ups + then stretches like bending to touch your toes. Yes, still in heels. Then not too long later you're strutting across the floor in choreographed rhythm with hips swinging, booty popping + dipping it low before picking it up slow. Nicole keeps the energy levels high throughout the whole class so you're bound to break a sweat. This class is a helluva workout for the whole body + especially the thighs. While it is meant to be done in heels, I'd strongly recommend wearing ones you are very comfortable in as some of the fast paced movements involve shifting your weight quickly so they can be pretty dangerous in anything higher than 4" tall.

    * Beginner/Intermediate Pole ~ Leigh Acosta
This class was amazing... I wish my friend + I had taken our 1st pole class with her. After stretches, Leigh assessed our skill level quickly + was both patient as well as motivating to learn from. Along with 2 other beginners this time, I was able to perfect the spins I had learned previously in Annmarie's class + learn a bit more. Just from 1 class under her style of teaching, I could tell she is an artist in her craft, + it made me feel much more confident in wanting to practice my newly learned spins + "tango" steps around the pole through to the end of class no matter how much my hands were hurting + arm muscles growing tired.  In the future, I would highly prefer to take at least one or two more pole classes with Leigh again until I have more mastery + confidence to try other instructors.

    * Pole Conditioning + Extreme Flexibility ~ Leigh
After having tried pole with Leigh, we tried this fitness class with her as our last class of the deal. The description on the website calls it "a combination of yoga, pilates, core strengthening + ballet bar exercises," meant to help strengthen the muscles needed for pole... but in all honesty, I left feeling like I didn't even really get a workout at all. Sure I suppose I'm already more fit + flexible than most, but I was hoping for something more than movements + stretches I can do at home...

All in all, mixed reviews but overall pretty good as each class will vary each time depending on the skill level of the other students. The facilities are just as pictured but perhaps smaller than you'd expect with 2 floors with 4 poles each, sitting/waiting area + bathroom to change in. Free fruit-infused ice water is a nice touch.

Since starting with the Groupon classes, I've bought other package deals + taken a few other types of classes in addition to the ones detailed above, but I'll save that for an updated review in the future.

    P.S. 25% off classes + merchandise with Yelp check-in!

    4/21/2011 3 Check-ins Here

I purchased a Groupon for 2 pole classes, 3 regular dance classes and have been attending them with 3 girlfriends.

I've taken 2 pole classes and 1 dance class (fantasy floor work).  The pole classes were a blast!  Emily was our instructor both times and she was fantastic.  Very helpful, works with you one-on-one to make sure you've got it and are positioning yourself into the poses correctly, and her playlist always makes you want to rock that pole.  We were all so sore in the most random places and sad to see our pole sessions come to an end!

We signed up for the Fantasy Floor Work class and much to our (happy) surprise Emily was subbing for that instructor.  She was just as wonderful.  The class did feel a little overwhelming as everyone had been taking it a few weeks and it seems to build on itself each week, but Emily makes everyone feel welcome.

The studio-parking can be difficult to find.  The floor inside the studio could use a good sweeping.  Our Fantasy Floor Work class was at 8:30pm, after a full day of prior classes, and there was lint, hairs, and other items on the floor and we were having to crawl around in it.  The studio doesn't appear dirty to the naked eye and it was not a major problem.  A quick sweep would be appreciated though. :)

Wish we lived closer to this studio...I would definitely get a membership!

If you are having a difficult time sticking with your workout, I would suggest sampling a few of the classes at Evolve Dance Studio, in Los Angeles.  They offer the newest in Alternative Fitness Classes, at affordable prices.

    Facility:
The vibe is relaxed, comfortable, Zen!  Beautiful Brazilian flooring covers the expanse of the studio.  Modern style benches with comfy cushions create a warm feel in the main lounge.  There is an over-sized restroom with plenty of space for changing before and after your workouts.  They have storage compartments available to your personal belongings remain secure.  You'll find soft candle lighting throughout the studio along with fresh-cut flowers.  The dance space is split into two separate areas, leaving ample room for dance, stretching, and working out.  They also have ballet bars for those interested in the classical formats of dance.

The studio is available for special engagements as well.  It is an excellent space for photo shoots, filming routines, and hosting parties.  There is a kitchen within the studio that makes hosting events a snap. Several well known shows have filmed within the space due to the location, rates, vibe, schedule flexibility, and decor.  Check the website for details regarding time, availability, and price.

There is an in-studio boutique which makes shopping easy for clientele.  If you have a shoe fetish, you may want to prepare yourself.  Evolve Dance Studio houses one of the largest collections of Pleasures, I've seen within a studio setting.  They also keep several custom shoe and costume catalogs on hand, giving you the opportunity to purchase anything the manufactures has to offer.  The customer service doesn't end there; they also offer an online boutique, making shopping from any location convenient.

    Instructors:
As with many studios, each instructor at Evolve has their own flavor, style, and format, ranging from completely Free-Form to very Technical/Classical.   The group that teaches at Evolve is an eclectic mix with a variety of dance, gymnastic, and or stage backgrounds.  What is unique about Evolve is that many of their instructors either hold a title within their respective dance genres or are actively competing for a title.

I would suggest checking the Evolve website for class descriptions and instructor bios, to have a better understanding of what will be accomplished within each class type.  If you still have questions about which class to select, feel free to call the studio, and one of the staff will be more than willing to assist you in a selection that will fit your comfort level.  Evolve Dance Studio Instructors offer private and semi-private sessions.  Call the studio for more information for rates and availability.

    Classes:
Alternative Fitness Classes are offered at the studio daily and at a variety of times.  They specialize in Pole Dance, Hoop/Lyra, Samba, Stilettofit, Floor-Work, and Sensual Fitness Classes.  The list of alternative fitness classes continues to grow with the increase of specialty workshops, competitions, and showcases specifically designed for the students.  I've taken almost every class on the schedule and to be honest, I've learned something new in each one.  My personal belief is fitness is an Attitude and a way of life; you must expect to get something out it, or you won't!

    Price:
I love working out, so I look at the cost but I also way what I am taking away from it.  The price per class at Evolve is comparable to other studios for the most part.  If you are an avid discount shopper, then keep your eyes open because Evolve offers several discounts via Groupon and other internet savings programs.  This often makes the packages for classes a steal.  The personal service, instruction, and experience at Evolve is Exceptional.  That's something you can't really put a price tag on:)

    Extra Benefits:
Evolve offers several special engagement events, such as their Ladies Night Out, Friday Night Workshops, Pot-Luckies, and Field Trips.  If you want to experience the culture of the studio make sure you come out and try one of these events.  It's a great way to meet people and sample several class formats currently on or coming soon their schedule.  These events are a perfect time to get and give feedback about the studio as well as suggest new ideas for the studio.  The environment at Evolve is one of Community, making the staff extremely approachable, ensuring you have the best experience possible.

This review is for the pole classes.  I have been going here as a student since March 2010.  The pole instructors are among some of the best dancers in LA.  They are well-known in the pole community and one even holds a national title.  All the instructors are great and have different styles.  For pole beginners, start in any of the intro/beginner classes then take beginner/intermediate.  The sensual movement class and Annemarie's floorwork fantasy class are also great for those who want to dip their toes in exotic dance.

For more experienced pole enthusiasts, Anjel, Mina, and Annemarie will definitely take your aerial pole skills to the next level.  I recommend getting the unlimited monthly package.  Taking classes more frequently and with other experienced dancers really helps you improve quickly.  The regulars in class are friendly and don't mind if you ask them for pointers.

The studio has a really well-kept interior.  I had been to at least 5 other pole studios before finding Evolve, and Evolve's presentation is definitely the best.  Once you go up the stairs on Pico and go inside the studio, you step into a safe and inviting environment to relax and learn.  The studio has cherry wood floors and 8 poles with floor to ceiling mirrors.  What more could a student ask for?  :)

Some things I want to address from other reviewers:
Students will have varying skills levels in most group classes.  Some new students can jump right into the beg/int class and do just fine.  If you feel like you need more help, definitely ask the instructor for help, but don't expect a lot of 1-on-1 attention when there are other people in a one-hour GROUP class.  If you need more review of the basics, take an intro class regularly, then take harder classes when you want to challenge yourself.

On a side note, I personally don't like when other studios require you to take a series of pole classes to 'level up'.  Students shouldn't have to wait to learn what they want and should be able to take any class they want.  I like that Evolve's instructors are open to asking what you want to learn, and I like that students can choose how much they want to be challenged.

As for parking, there is free metered parking along Pico after 6p and free residential parking all around the block.  If all else fails, you can park at the Vons across the street.  ;)

I bought a LivingSocial deal for Evolve and was really excited to try out some pole dancing classes for a reasonable price.

Well, kids, ya pay for what ya get - and in this case, I got nothing. They refuse to answer the phone, and when I showed up for my class (which I had already signed up for online), the studio was locked as it had apparently been cancelled. No notice, no confirmation, whole lotta nothin'. I left another message asking them to please confirm the next class I'd signed up for, as I didn't want to waste my time showing up again if no one would be there. Sure enough, no response.

So, please, save yourself some time and avoid this establishment!

Bought two Groupons which includes 2 pole dancing classes and 3 dance classes.

First class: Stiletto Fit with Nicole
It definitely works out your legs and your core. Only thing about this class is that its choreographed, Choreography is soooo not my thing, so I didn't enjoy the class as much as I had liked to. You don't necessarily have to wear stilettos. Many of the girls were just wearing 3-4 in heels, while me (being new) wore 6 inch stilettos.

Second class: Beg/Intermediate Pole Dancing with Jamayka
There are two rooms and the class is split up into beginner and intermediate. Class structure was pretty much free style and do-what-you-want-to on the pole. The instructor Jamayka was super nice and has some good advice. If you come to her class and want to dance to songs that you want, make a playlist and put it on your ipod and bring it to class.

Third class: Pole Conditioning with Anne Marie
Major workout. A lot of leg and core work. You definitely feel the burn during this class and I'm definitely sore from it.

Fourth class: Fantasy Floor Work with Anne Marie
Stretching in the beginning, arm and core work mostly. We ran out of time for Anne Marie to make a routine for us to do, so I don't know how that works out.

Fifth class: Sensual Movement with Fonta
Loved this class. I'm a little bit more open with my sensual side, so I thought it was totally fun, although there were awkward times and I also couldn't get the movement right ^_^;;;; but that's because I'm uncoordinated. I will be taking this class again.

Sixth class: Beginner/Intermediate Pole Dancing with Fonta
Class was more structured and was pretty much do what you want. She'll correct you on what you are doing wrong and will show you how to do it right.

These are the classes I've taken so far, since this is already extremely long (sorry about that!) I will end here =]

After taking a intro class at a studio in NYC i tried the beginner/intermediate course with Jamayka.  I was surprised by the lack of format-- was expecting the instructor to teach a routine, but rather class was handled as an individual practice session.

After a 15-min warm up, the instructor asked surveyed what levels we were at.  Seeing that i was a beginner, she showed me a couple basic moves and had me practice as she moved on to the more advanced who were already shimmying up and down the poles and doing flips.  So for the majority of the lesson i was practicing BY MYSELF with very little instruction.  To her credit, Jamayka did come by and correct my form a couple times, but  i only got 10 min total of instruction time.

Maybe i should have taken another intro/beginner class, but i was disappointed by instructor's negligence of the less advanced students.   After all the course title IS "beginner/intermediate" right??

Finally to the credit of the instructor and studio i will admit Evolve will teach how to pole dance for real.  It's not a fun frilly experience like what you would get in Santa Monica.  I don't discourage people to come here, but make sure you are at your level.

Classes fill up fast so book at least a week in advance.

1.5 stars.  They get a .5 because the employees seem somewhat nice.

I previously took one pole dancing lesson at another studio, but decided to try this place because of the good reviews and they were offering a fantastic deal on classes.

I called and asked if my one class was enough to make the beginner/intermediate class do-able for me.  The gal said I would be fine.

I was shocked and disappointed at how disorganized the class was.  After the warm up, the instructor asked us what we wanted to learn.  I told her, it would be great if she could show us some things since I had only taken one class.

My experience was very similar to Doris C.'s.  The instructor went from person to person and taught us a couple moves, then disappeared to teach people on the other side of the studio.  For the majority of the time I was left alone floundering.  The moves we were taught were too advanced.  I really needed more review of some of the basics, but the instructor skipped over that. I should note that the other gals in my class (with the exception of one gal who should have been in an advanced class) had only taken 1-2 lessons previously.

I bought a package of lessons, but I don't even think I'm going to bother coming back.  The location is inconvenient, there's only street parking, and I really felt like I wasted my time.  I learned pretty much nothing.  I also got pole burn on my wrist because the studio doesn't offer powder for the poles.   They try to force you to purchase it if you want to use it.

When my roomie and I decided we were going to "get in shape" and began looking for a way to stay motivated, we decided pole dancing would be a great way to incorporate our dance and gymnastics backgrounds into something fun.

I have tried going to the gym - I usually do a couple reps of arms with 3lb weights, then hit the steam room until whoever I went with is done with their workout. I've tried yoga - while it's relaxing... I'm too ADD! I wanted to do something that gave me the rush and accomplished feeling like when I mastered a new level in gymnastics (before I hurt my back and could no longer train).

POLE DANCING IS IT! I was very skeptical at first. I didn't want to learn how to be a stripper - I wanted something more athletic and would make me want to keep trying until the point of exhaustion like gymnastics practice always did.

My first impression of pole dancing has completely changed. Pole dancing is NOT stripping (No Stripping, No Tipping!). These dancers are ATHLETES like you'd never believe. They make it look easy, which proves how strong they are because it is NOT easy to defy gravity and do what they do! I compare the uneven bars and how I thought that was difficult as a gymnast, but they were parallel to the ground... now I'm learning similar tricks... only now, the bar is VERTICAL!

The first lesson we took was at BeSpun in Hollywood.  I really liked the instructors and felt comfortable there, but after shopping around and I found better energy at Evolve Dance Studio.

Besides Evolve being closer to my home (Evolve is on Pico and Fairfax), it's in an upstairs studio. It seems less like some stranger could walk in off the street and peek behind a curtain. The atmosphere is soothing, well decorated, and CLEAN!!

There is a waiting area with a flat screen TV and cushion benches. (after our second class we were invited to watch the Lakers game with the girls).

There is a kitchen where during "Friday Girls Night Out" they serve appetizers, champagne, etc. while teaching new pole tricks, introducing new instructors and dance classes are offered, and it allows new people to check out the studio for $20/person! Great Deal!

There are two rooms of 4 poles where during a Beginner class, more advanced students can practice with the help of an instructor still in view and can yell "help" if needed.

Since my first class (my second ever pole dancing class) I've become addicted and go at least twice a week with my monthly membership, which is a great deal! ($200/month for unlimited classes!)

The best part, I'm getting my former dancer/gymnast body back and having a blast at the same time! Each time I accomplish a new trick, I am more motivated to get better and better.

Classes are available 7 days a week at various times of the day, so there is a class for every schedule! This is truly a great studio, great way to get in shape, and a great place to meet new people because everyone is so nice and helpful!

each pole studio is different. this studio is not for people who want s factor (focus on movement, getting in touch with your feminine sensuality, etc). this studio is more about getting a work out and learning pole tricks. if you want to go to a pole studio to understand your body and want some quiet alone time to focus on yourself, this isn't really the pole studio for you.

if you want more independence and a work out, and to learn from some amazing teachers who compete out there and look absolutely amazing in what they do, then come here. like what a lot of people said, after the initial warm up, you go to your own pole and work on the tricks that you know or are struggling with and the instructor comes around to each person to help them master the trick. if you're a beginner, i could see how it's a little frustrating because you don't have a set of tricks that you already know to practice so you're sort of repeating the same things over and over again. for the more intermediate levels, since you'll have your own pole, you can work on combinations and really nailing it.

so, i'd recommend going to a pole studio that makes you more comfortable with the beginning tricks and sensual movement and then moving to a pole studio like this one or like bespun or pole garage, where they are more trick heavy. pole garage also focuses a lot on dance and luscious mavens is more theatrical. the only pole studio from these lists that do not have a mirror is s factor. the only other studio with no mirror was unleashed but they don't exist anymore. sad.

So i actually talked to someone I know who did a documentary on pole-dancing, and they do not recommend evolve, and said there are definitely better pole dancing studios to explore in the city.  They do however offer a ton of groupon/living social deals, so they might be better in the long run in terms of value.

Bought a Groupon to this place and was really excited to try out pole dancing and take their belly dancing class...between the scheduling issues, parking and oh, there is no more belly dancing classes.. I am not a fan...there are better establishments elsewhere...save yourself the time and frustration.

And in response to their comment...when I went to schedule Belly dancing classes 2 weeks ago...they had them nowhere on your website schedule for the month of April on...and now when I checked they do...again, clearly there are issues that need to be resolved within this establishment and I don't have the time to waste while they figure it out. This is a fair review and people deserve to see all sides so that they can make informed decisions...I wish I would have read these comments on yelp before I purchased my groupon.

Quick bio:  26 years old, Los Angeles native, danced from ages 4-12 years.  Currently practicing regular exercise after a long period of barely any at all.

I was one of the many people to purchase a groupon for this studio.   I have now completed all four of my lessons and while I have a few small criticisms I will be going back again.  Warning: my language in this review can get a little crass.

1st visit:  My friend Roxi and I showed up for our Sunday morning pole-dancing class with Jamayka.  There was a receptionist of sorts.  I could tell the groupon really gave them a lot of new business.  It was so long ago now I wish I could be more detailed but I can at least say I liked this teacher a good deal.  I was a little taken offguard when she disrobed and was pretty much wearing cotton underwear that didn't even match.  But we are at a pole dancing class, aren't we?  Jamayka was a no b.s. teacher.  She wasn't here just to help us get our sh*ts n' giggles working a pole with a gal pal, she wanted us to try to do it as well as she could help us to.  And she even took a moment to talk to my friend and I about our habits and made rec's to avoid soreness for later.  She encouraged us not to give up.  I really liked her!

2nd visit:  Probably a full month later and this time we had Fonta, aka Blue.  She was a laid back sort of lady who really emphasized the relaxation and personal effect this type of exercise can have on your body.  The stretches and warm-ups outside of the pole-work were more extensive.  I enjoyed my class with Fonta, I left feeling good about my body and what I could possibly learn to do in the future.

3rd visit:  I attempted to take a Tuesday morning Sexy Cardio class with an instructor I'm not sure of the name for.  Honestly, I got the feeling she didn't usually teach sexy cardio, and was subbing or something.  The owner of the studio seemed to be observing her like she didn't know what to expect from her either.  She could possibly be one of the Samba teachers, she was heavily focused in latin dance with her moves.  She yelled and hooted a lot.  This is probably my least favorite class I have taken at Evolve.  It got my heart rate up, which was what I came for, but focused HEAVILY on jumping up and down over and over.  It really wasn't sensual, or sexy.  I told friends that they should have called it the really rough f*cking cardio class because my sports bra didn't end up being up to par for this jumping class and I felt like I had been punched in the boob.  I also wouldn't have drank as much water before the class had I known we'd be doing that because I almost choked it up towards the end of the class from all the jumping.  Just really not what I would have expected.  But like I said, I really got the feeling she wasn't the usual teacher.  I gave it one more shot, I had already paid for it, right?!

4th visit:  Another Tuesday morning sexy cardio class.  This time with a cute little lady instructor named Peppa.  Now they call this class Sexy Dancehall Reggae Cardio I think, which sounds pretty appropriate.  It was much more sensual in movements.  It definitely qualified as sexy in my book.  The next day my quads hurt like crazy, but in a good way.  I really had wished I had gone to her class the first time two so I could have had two with her.   She wanted us all to have the most out of the workout as possible, reminding us to keep moving at all times.  I was glad I hadn't given up after the last class experience.

I also want to thank Evolve for reminding me how fun exercise can be and credit them for the fact that I have kept up exercising since.     When I'm much closer to my goal weight they can expect me to take some more pole classes for sure!

i came back for my last three sessions that was part of my groupon deal.

and i must say i had a blast!

    1. the sexy cardio - major work out

    2. beginner / intermediate pole dancing - it was fun! our instructor, Mina, she is H.O.T., hot.  The moves she can do, wow - it was amazing. Mina taught us a few pole moves and we got to practice on our own and she made sure you do it right.  One thing i had to complain about is the stretching was too long. i wish the pole dancing part was longer.

    3. pole tricks - this class is for all (beginner, intermediate, advance) this class was taught by a male instructor, Josiah "Bad Azz"; he was cool. He taught us a few tricks and yeah, it was quite hard to do.  Again, we spent a lot of time stretching in the beginning and not so much on the pole tricks. Then he didnt spend that much time on us. He split our class into two groups (advance vs. beg/int.) and he was walking back and forth between the two groups.. but in the end i felt like the class was more of a free style pole class than an actual learning pole tricks class.

Overall i enjoyed my sessions. I wish the studio isn't so far. If it was located in SGV, i'd totally sign up for membership.

Came to show some support... This studio was ok. As far as the layout... I wasn't too fond of 4 poles on one side of the room and 4 on the other. How do you teach a class that way??? Seems like an instructor has to play double dutch to give equal attention to both sides. PLUS 4 poles are shorter than the others... So it seems like it was made for smaller classes 4 students or less per side. Either way, this place is ok... But needs some sort of customer service during the times classes are due to start. So people know the class will still happen. They need to open up on time for 1... 2, not be rude to paying customers when they are leaving... was chit chatting a bit directly after class and the instructor got all bitchy talking about we were 'disturbing her class' please... I won't be back unless a particular instructor is teaching and that's the ONLY place she teaches... that's only because I LOVE that girls style. Otherwise- i'll be where I was or elsewhere.

So I bought a groupon deal which was four classes for $35 as opposed to their normally priced $85. Woot woot! My friend and I decided to go to the 9:30 AM intro pole dancing and then the 10:30 sexy cardio to save a drive back up to LA. We left the OC at 7:30 to make sure we made it on time and we did.

Parking was a little difficult to find what with street parking being all that was available and it being street cleaning at that time. We were the first ones in that morning and the studio was really nice, well decorated, and clean.  The classes look like they max out at 8 b/c there are only 8 poles. The intro pole dancing class started out with some stretching and pilates style conditioning and then we broke into two groups. There were three of us who were coming for the first time. In the first class, we learned: the "sexy stripper walk", how to spin around the pole, the "firefly" which is where you start to get some air, and some dips and stuff. The hardest part of it for me was the walking and the lil hip swivels cuz I am Asian and have no badonkadonk to speak of so no matter how hard I tried, it really only looked like some half-assed shaking (no pun intended). The tricks we learned were easy enough, but I take it that my aerial training has somewhat prepped me since it takes some arm and core strength to hold yourself up.

Next up we took the sexy cardio class which was in our package and I was blown away b/c I did not expect to really break a sweat. The was a whole ton of booty-shaking and I was convinced I was going to look like some idiot with no rhythm but I did pretty well for myself thank you very much. I did notice however, how ingrained my ballet training was in me so at times if I didn't correct the alignment of my feet, I looked like some awkward ballet dancer tryna emulate Beyonce.

Fun times. We're going back tomorrow.

Decided to have a bachelorette party here this past weekend and it was SO...MUCH...FUN!  Definitely was one of the highlights and the bride LOVED it.  None of us had taken pole dancing classes so needless to say, we were super intimidated when we got there and saw girls performing complex moves with their long, giselle-like legs.  After two bottles of pink champagne (yes, they allowed us to bring our own drinks!) and making a ton of uncomfortable jokes, we were ready to begin.  Our instructor, Emily, was awesome!  She was so nice, patient, and we ACTUALLY learned a routine in between us giggling like 5 year olds.  We got the promo party price, which was $150 and gave a $30 tip which was a total of $180 for one hour.  Trust me.  That one hour was very well spent and we had so much fun.  We have the videos and photos to prove it!  Not only did we get the party, but we also got 2 free classes that we can use within 30 days.  If you check in on yelp, you can get 25% off of classes or shoes (not the party though).  Some recommendations is to book your party at least 2 weeks in advance.  The slots fill up real quick!  Also, bring quarters as there is metered parking in the front.  You go up the stairs and it's to your left.  Even if there's a class going on, just go on in.  They have a nice, cush waiting room right by the dance floor.  If you're having a party, suggest going there about 15 minutes in advance so that you can get all the paperwork done before the fun starts!  All in all, the whole experience cost $30 per person (not including the bride of course).  What a steal!  $30 for fun, laughter, and awesome memories!

This studio has great vibes and great lighting for pole dancing.  The ambiance is really soft and it's nice to break away from the hustle bustle of the outside world, especially when you're in court all day!  Mina is an excellent instructor, my dancing has changed so much in just one month.  I am making transitions and my body is changing.  The owners are really sweet and always have refreshments!  Even when I'm in a bad mood, I leave feeling serene and not head-trippy

    about me -
I used to pole dance a bit, danced when i was little, and has a pretty easy time learning dancing in general.

Good overall. Nice people. The instructors are great. Different people have different strengths. Anne Marie is really great at spotting what are you doing wrong, as well as introducing a new trick to you clearly. She reminds me of my piano teacher... She's not the only one though, there are quiet a few very good instructors I won't mention them one by one. It'll take awhile.

The only complaint I have is that in inter/adv classes, it's more like a group tutoring session for math/physics/etc. The instructor goes to individual students to help them, so the ones working on tricks that require spotting and more technical instructions end up hogging a lot of time. It's a little annoying, only because I'm not the ones getting all the help.

It doesn't bother me as much because I now prepare some mental notes on the things I need to practice and improve, so even if the instructor is not teaching me new things, I still have things to work on.

I don't really expect this to give me a six pack or anything if this is my own channel of fitness but it is a huge motivator for me to get up every day, stretch until things hurt quiet a bit, and hit the gym crossfit style, esp upper body, arms, chest, etc in order to be better at pole dance.

I treat this not so much as a fitness class, but more like music lessons. Daily practice and constant self-evaluation will definitely help you along, the better you get the more confident you feel and the more you like it.

Horrible I bought, a living social deal with them. All the information was disorganized they didn't even do anything to accommodate any of my needs. If you want a place that has good customer service this definitely i not the place.

I've tried out a few different pole dancing studios in Los Angeles using Groupons or other deal-a-day sites, but this way by far the most disorganized and not the most friendly/inviting atmosphere. I took a total of 3 classes there with 3 different instructors. The only one that was sort-of worth it was the sexy cardio class. Overall, id say there are better options in LA.

Trying to find my inner sex goddess, I have taken various classes on pole dancing, lap dancing, etc. over the years. Since I am, by nature, silly, I have always found them awkward and cheesy, often feeling the antithesis of sexy. Like when I was asked to crawl sexy and seductively on the floor, but looked more like I was dehydrated, traipsing through the sand, and looking for water in the desert.  Evolve Dance Studio is legit! The pole dancers use the pole as their pallet. I have seen a few of them perform, most impressively, Mina. The dancers contort their bodies into every shape imaginable like Cirque performers. They do the latest tricks that leave you saying "WOW!" They choreograph routines that are awe-inspiring, and they throw a little raunchy in it to truly legitimize them.  Mina is a great teacher and her background in dance helps in her instructional process. They play great music, which, in itself, inspires you to move seductively. The prices are great compared to other pole dancing classes, plus the classes are small so it is worth the money, and you can use a credit card which is awesome!  The studio does not look like much from the outside (actually it is kind of a sketchy neighborhood) but inside they have designed a really nice ambiance with great lighting.   I recommend you give the pole a whirl at least once!

I really love it here!  All the instructors I've had are great and have their own style.  Some instructors focus more on technique and will nit pick, and others will let you do your own thing and help as needed.  I'd recommend switching it up with instructors so you can see what suits you.  I had booking issues before, but now that I'm a little more advanced, it doesn't seem like I have as many issues getting into classes, though their online system still gives me issues at times.

    overall:

nice teachers, students, contact person (lani). pole is lots of fun and sensual movement is a great lead-up in moves and mindset for pole. i highly recommend especially with the discounted pricing. if they get student deals i'll def go back.... evolve is reasonably priced but pole is just way out of my economic means w/o a mega deal like groupon, etc.... so if they add student discounts count me in....if not i'll have to save up to treat myself!!!!

sorry the next is long but i think it's hard to judge ratings when you don't know the person.....sorry if this is tmi

    me:

i took 1 pole class for a bachelorette party and really enjoyed the class as i loved spinning on the pole (it reminded me of my days doing bars as a gymnast which i loved!). although i'm out of shape right now,  i dance occassionally (anything free/cheap i love it!!!!) and play sports (hockey, bball) semi-regularly, dabble in yoga (free at lulu) and i'm not scared of throwing my body around and getting bruised...so i bought the groupon because it was such a deal and i wanted to swing around some more!!!!!

i have taken 2 teachers (3 beg/int pole classes, 2 sensual movement)at evolve and i don't really care about being video vixen sexy, although i wouldn't mind if i was....however i don't think i have those skills so i just take the classes for fun and because i think the tricks are awesome!!!!!!!

    the facts:

pole will quickly strengthen you without you realizing because it takes a lot of core, upper body and some leg strength (like bars in gymnastics). like gymnastics, it takes a sort of individual mindset in that you learn trick A and then you should master it before you learn trick B, then master that and also go back and practice trick A etc... and keep building. you have to be in charge of your own progress.

jamayka: great attitude but a bit disorganized - she did go  back and forth between advanced and beginner students but if you ask a question she'll answer and help a lot (1st pole class at evolve)
ann marie: expect her to rail you until you perfect each trick. no nonsense and don't complain about rips, bruised knees, etc.... but she is amazing at figuring out how to fix what you're doing and getting your tricks to the next level...better  time management than jamayka - she went back and forth w/ beginners/intermediate much faster and taught more tricks (2nd and 3rd pole class)

    my opinions:
    1) i enjoy the mixed class because when i get tired/bored of my trick i can watch int tricks and copy those so i feel like i learn a lot more. then i'll also practice what i learned in the previous class so i really make a lot of use of the bar to the point i get nauseous from spinning and my arms/core/shoulders hurt (i am outta shape....)

    2) the area around the studio feels a bit sketch but inside the studio is nice (i only went to one other place (bachelorette) so i don't even know where just in the OC , i think) but i don't have much for comparison. but i've only gone to class at nite so the studio is dimly lit and i can't see that well

    3) for any questions and updates i was told by the very helpful and sweet lani that you should check email updates because that's how they contact you.... i don't have a smart phone so i didn't because i wouldn't be checking my email anyways.  but the first class jamayka was late and mentioned that she wasn't told of the time change.  the second i took w/ ann marie and she mentioned the class was switching to an earlier time.for my 3rd class the following weds lani informed me of the time change (which wasn't up on the website, but i already knew about because ann marie had mentioned in class...) because i had to email about some questions [ she was super duper helpful and answered way before class and pretty quickly which was a similar experience my friend had] but my friend didn't get an email update of the time change (not sure if she checked the box or not but she thought she had), so if i hadn't told her she would have been late.  a girl did come in late so i think she was uninformed...  so there may be issues like that.  i never had any problem though by luck and i looooovvvveee pole and the two instructors but especially ann marie because she can fix mistakes quickly. both ladies are good at letting anyone who learns quickly to learn more tricks but they make sure you at least know basics!! i also love how ann marie emphasizes moves that hold a bit of dignity and don't look cheap!! ;)

    4) sensual dance is not so me but it was scheduled right before my pole and is a really good warm-up for pole as its basically the dancing around near or w/ the pole minus most of the high-flying tricks. its pretty fun and i like the warm-ups which do give you an ab workout if you do them right!!! too bad i don't look all sensual doing the moves or maybe i'd like it more....but the only way to get better is to practice!!!!

i really like evolve and the teachers i've had seem like true professionals!!!!!!

    :)

I've been going to this studio for about 6 weeks now, and I love it! I am a newbie to pole dancing, so I started with the intro/beginner class with Jamayka. She made me feel at ease and also made me laugh, which is important in the beginning! I have taken classes with a few different teachers, and they are all amazing and great athletes. I learn something new from each one, but I have to say my fave continues to be Jamayka. I like her attitude and her concern about the body, and how to safely build up to doing some of the more advanced tricks. I also love, love, LOVE that they limit the class size- I have never had to share a pole, and even though it is true that sometimes the teachers are off helping other people, I never find myself just standing around- I am either working on new tricks or perfecting old ones. I like the free style of the classes, I think that it allows each person to work on what is important to them, and to develop their own pole style. My only wish is that there were more morning/afternoon classes offered during the weekdays. That being said, the studio is cute and clean and everyone who works there is nice and welcoming!
